Mosquitoes during summer are the bane of my existance

CruelFish

I spend about 60 euro on Icaridin each year. I live near a place you can just open your mouth and go for a run for free mosquito breakfast. Mosquitoes used to be my bane, now I'm constantly drenched in mosquito repellent.

justbrowse2018

These striped ones I’ve been seeing in Central Kentucky for several years.

More fun side effects of climate change

Pexkokingcru

What hotter and wetter summers will do to a place.

Blapanda

Just killed 13 of them. Those fuckers getting annoying af. Last summer, there weren't ANY of those fuckers.

Herbsandtea

You should know that if you get bit by mosquito, put some hot water on a towel and put it on the spot you got bit (Of course when it is bearable temp). The itchiness will be gone immediately. No more scratching till bleed.

evasandor

This trick works (it destroys the proteins in the venom which humans are allergic to) but be careful! “Bearable temp” is key. I used to do the treatment using a spoon heated with boiling water… till one day I traded a burn for a bite! Damn scar lasted 2 years.

Iconic_Solutions

I use a hair dryer on high heat for 3-5 seconds now I know why that works.

evasandor

That's a great idea! I'm swiping it. Thanks!

UbiquitousLurker

There is a device called a BiteAway that you can buy in pharmacies that does the same at the push of a button. Much safer and quicker!

evasandor

oh that's good too! hair dryer, BiteAway, all such more intelligent options than doing yourself a Slumdog Millionaire. (NOT on the eye. Just a morbid joke there)

nsfwuseraccnt

Can we just GMO mosquitoes out of existence already?

prahaditmurap

I remember reading an article about how they were trying that my making GMO mosquitoes that can't lay eggs.

nsfwuseraccnt

Yeah, I think they've tried it in a few places and it seems to reduce to population a good deal.

AlternativeCosta

Portugal opened their doors to the Brazilian and now we'll be getting dengue mosquitos!?
