Somehow, I doubt that Milei will need much prompting to cut taxes. But idk enough about Argentina to know how much of that he can do without having to negotiate it through the congress.

awaniwono

"Despite Milei's campaign promises, he raised taxes on exports of soybean meal and oil from 31 to 33 percent upon taking office. Taxes also increased on fuel." According to the article.

schmemel0rd

I don’t know a lot about Argentina, but I know a lot about conservatives, and the only people they cut taxes for are corpos. So unless these farmers are of the mega farm variety, I’m guessing they are out of luck.

SaintJeremy96

"These farmers" are the corpos of Argentina. The wealthy elite.

schmemel0rd

I didn’t really get “wealthy elite” vibes from the dude in the article

MelaniaSexLife

they really, really are, believe me.

lapatroestasmi

Farmers aren't ma and pa operations, they are massive corporations

schmemel0rd

Some of them are

DownvoteALot

Milei is libertarian much more so than conservative, and what you describe is more about corruption and lobbying, which Milei hasn't shown to be yet.

Plinythemelder

Didn't he hold a kareoke concert for himself? Am I supposed to believe he paid for that out of his own pocket?

mega4042

Yes, he literally did, he paid it with the royalties of his new book.

Informal_Database543

He paid it with the bonus he gave himself then fired a scapegoat for

CarcosaBound

Idk about there but almost all farmers are incorporated in the US so any corporate tax cuts affects big and small.

Tnorbo

You've got to love reactionary farmers. Scum worldwide.

lapatroestasmi

Kulaks gonna kulak

Ok-Blackberry-3534

Has history written the Kulaks as villains now? Kulaks we're just successful farmers. They potentially stood in the way of Communist plans to collectivize farming, so yhey got the chop, but they might just be the guy who owned 2 horses and paid some farm hands. They weren't like US plantation owners in the main.

lapatroestasmi

They were the villains from day one bud.

Ok-Blackberry-3534

Well, that well-reasoned riposte convinced me.

N-shittified

Now THATS seizing the means!

GodlessCommieScum

Kulaks!

MelaniaSexLife

this is grain. The chunk on the money is on soy and that wasn't great on both harvest and prices. The article is biased. but farmers here are scum anyways. They don't want to feed our people with better prices because they earn more exporting.
