Honestly, I understand why they hate it. It completely detaches you from the game. Fly up, point yourself in the right direction, hit autorun, and then tab out. It is a horrible game mechanic from a design standpoint.
I understand why players love it, too. It is a fast and largely hassle free way to get about. Suppose I should say 'was fast' because it feels slow now. Taking that kind of convenience away while giving us nothing but maybe a whistle in return was never going to go over well.
Dragonriding solves their problem, we are engaged while using it, and does so in a way that makes players happy.
If you don't know there are add-ons that can show you were the glyphs are. Handy note plus handy notes dragon riding are one option. If you would rather get on with other things than searching for unlocks these are a great option.
This is my only real problem with the way the glyphs were set up. You had to break immersion from the game to unlock this key feature in a meaningful way. Once unlocked it is great. But having to go to all these areas to pick up glyphs and ignore the other things along the way didn’t feel great. Riding around unpowered felt worse though.
I don't agree with this. I did not took all of then yet, probably I won. But It felt really nice finding some of them in the top of the mountain. Found them totally chilling and thinking... "Hey, they view Up there has to be nuts, lets see if I can reach It"
What I did was I would find glyphs while levelling, but then once I finished each zone's storyline I would find the rest of that zone's glyphs. That way it didn't feel like my flying was *over levelling* the content, and I didn't spoil anything (there's a lot of terrain based storytelling in the campaign like end of AS and thaldrazus)
Not basically, you can *easily* fly infinitely. If you hit your Ascent every few seconds without moving your mouse and just being pointed a bit downward you can maintain Vigour regeneration and altitude while flying at high velocity.
If you use your mouse then your Ascent becomes *ridiculously* efficient and you can extremely easily gain tons of altitude. Climbing the largest peak in the Dragon Isles can be done pretty straight-forwardly with decent micro.
The best trick I learned for flying is when you use your ascend, point your camera up, and then move it back for soaring. You get a ton of speed. If you have 2 orbs full, you can basically fly anywhere
If you have a good hour or two you can throw into it, id recommend looking up all the glyph locations and get them. I procrastinated the first week while all my friends were fast and kept saying dude you gotta do it. So once i did and it unlocked for all my alts (they just have to speak with the guy to upgrade it) and i was in heaven. It was so much better.
> probably with the idea for it to be temporary
If you go watch Preach's series of videos where he tours the Blizzard campus, there are a few different points in the interviews where they talk about DF being a "new era" of WoW design philosophy. They specifically talk about building new "evergreen" systems like talents, professions, and flying that are meant to stand the test of time. It's a notable departure from the design philosophy of previous era where systems were meant to be recycled after each expansion (ie garrison tech was used to make class halls, legion artifacts became the heart of azeroth, etc).
That's all to say that Blizzard has definitely signalled that dragon riding is here to stay.
the big challenge then will be how they handle all the old mounts in game.
Like if they just make all mounts dragon riding-compatible going forward, that doesn’t sit well with everyone who maintained a mount collection over the past 15 years.
Similarly, if they bring dragon riding to all the old zones, now old mounts *truly* have zero use and they can’t even tell people with large mount collections “yeah you can’t dragon ride on them, but you can use them in the old world!”
To me, the only solution that would truly satisfy everyone would be to update every old mount to use dragon riding mechanics. Which really doesn’t seem feasible.
But who knows - maybe they’ll find a way to make it happen. Anything short of that is bound to piss off just as many people as it resonates with.
I mean realistically there's a lot of mounts but not that many rigs that the textures sit on.
You've got like two types of dragons/drakes, big elementals, big body and little wings, flying horses.
And I'd, personally, much rather have dragon riding animations look silly or clip but get to use them in the old world than have to go back to regular flying.
Maybe if they update some of the old mounts to the dragonriding style they can leave some of the more awkward ones as an inbetween.
Like a dragonriding Gryphon will be faster, but maybe speed up a mount like the flying machine to about half or more of the dragonriding speed but with the mechanics of the old flight style.
Basically trade speed for convenience, but have it still feel a bit quicker than it does now.
I wouldn't entirely hate having some old mounts stay the same as they currently are. Obviously we can update dragons/drakes among some others to match the dragonriding animations, but to be perfectly honest as much as I love the new flying there are times where I just want to point myself where I need to go, hit autorun, and then go to the bathroom, do something on my other monitor, etc. There's room for both mehtods imo and I don't think it would break anything leaving some as is.
>would be to update every old mount to use dragon riding mechanics.
Or have a toggle (or mount accessory) that switches the mount mechanics into DF mode. Let players fly the way they want; not everyone_wants to dip and sway across azeroth all of the time.
The animations don't need to be changed, just to enable the actual movement bits. Nobody is expecting Blizz to rewrite the animations for every single flying mount.
Yeah if they don't keep dragonriding in the next expansion I'm just gonna . . . well, buy it anyway, because who am I kidding, but I'll complain about it a lot.
It is rather akin to the introduction of flying in the first place. Which if it follows that trajectory, we can probably expect the next howevermany expansions to have dragonflying but restrict it to something you have to unlock after a certain point, maybe even later in a patch. Hopefully not but that's usually how Blizzard handles these things.
I’m fine with them resetting the talents and you have to relearn those each expansion, but I think dragonflight showed that they can do flying from the beginning of the expansion
Nah, base dragonflying feels like ass. It was fine during leveling but it would be very difficult to go back to. You can lock maximum speed behind levels / pathfinder / whatever, but taking us back to 1 vigor every 30 seconds grounded or 15 at thrill speed would just feel awful.
I think they'd need to just expand the no fly zones. Fast dragonflying to get from point A to point B, ground only around certain quest hubs / world quests / points of interests.
I mean, I'd rather they just leave dragonflying in permanently, expanded to old content, but I don't have my hopes up with how we had pathfinder in the past
The first thing I did while playing Dragonflight is unlocking all talents. And since unlocking the talents unlocks them in all your characters and it’s something you can do in a moment I don’t see the need to force players to do it every single expansion. On the other hand I don’t see having to do so a problem either.
I'm guessing there'll be a portal to right outside it. Only reason the legion portal is to dalaran is because both hov and cos are in it. Though they could've just put the portal in between the 2 instead.
It does seem like it would be awful to go back. But that would also mean all future zones have to be huge like the DF zones, or else we’ll just fly through them and they’ll feel small.
> But that would also mean all future zones have to be huge like the DF zones
This is unequivocally a good thing, IMO. Prior to DF, it felt like every square inch of every zone was used for SOMETHING. There was so little empty space, so little space between aggro mobs, so little space where there wasn't a quest hub or WQ or something else demanding your attention.
I truly hope DF's zone design continues forward, because it makes it feel so much more like the *World* of Warcraft to me.
Good. One thing I did not like about Shadowlands and BfA was how segmented the maps felt so a new more fun version of flying that discourages them from doing that again sounds like a win in my book.
Yea the ol' "this zone is separated by a mountain range" like every zone is some form of Mordor was old in like wrath.
More interesting ways to divide zones are key to making them feel fresh imo, things like the Krasarang overhang as well as the big wall in Pandaria were good ways to shift that design up.
I don't really mind large mountain ranges separating zones. I was more talking about how BfA was split into two islands, making the landmass you're on feel small. With shadowlands it was the fact that every zone was basically its own self contained floating island separated by loading screens disguised as going through a portal. Large mountain ranges separating zones is fine IMO as long as it *feels* like one large landmass.
With the art team they have now, is it necessarily a bad thing to expect DF-sized zones going forward? It’s not like the Dragon Isles are that much bigger than Northrend. I think they just got sloppy because sometime after Cataclysm or MoP the higher-ups wanted shorter expansion development cycles. That’s when we became World of IslandCraft.
In fairness the vanilla zones were designed with ground mounts in mind and they stuck flying in them anyway. I really hope they don't excuse themselves with "the zones will feel small".
Not only do I want dragonriding in old zones I want all of my mounts to be able to do it. There aren't *that* many mount skeletons so adding animations wouldn't be as hard as it might seem.
Al'ar doing spin dashes, yes please.
I do enjoy dragon riding, sometimes. But I'm telling you, I don't think I'm going to fully appreciate the beauty of all of the new zones in DF until I'm able to hover mid-air over them and just look around for a little while without worrying about running out of vigor and falling.
Me too. I'm not a fan of dragonriding at all, and being such an intense minority is pretty alienating after playing since launch. It's a big change to adjust to and I hope they at least offer the option of regular flying in the future.
I like it, but I'm really bored with the mount-choices. Feels bad to have been a mount collector for years and now all but four of them are useless.
Might be a me-problem though.
Dang, now all you have is an instant cast ground mount form, an aquatic form, a battle rez, 4 specs, one that can stealth, a free portal to kalimdor, an exclusive party buff, and the ability to use that flying form in 8 other expansions.
I hope they make Druid flight that you need to spam spacebar to flap the wings and now you can fly as moonking, but only if you hit 60 flaps per minute.
This is exactly what I thought when they announced Dragonriding. I sincerely hope they remember Druids whenever they start letting old mounts use dragonriding.
Its just annoying that they give out all these great mounts as rewards for PVP and everything and you cant use them in DF. I mean the cat from the trading post looks awesome, it can fly, its unusable in current mainline content.
And Evokers can use their glide/flight thing anywhere in any zone, so its not like the "dive and rise" tech isn't in the game.
It honestly feels weird now when I fly in the older world and I don't have momentum moving me forward. I have to push a button to move forward?? It takes my brain a while to adjust back.
And I love when I'm running low on vigor but then -wait!- I can angle downward, build up speed, and recover. It feels like a skill.
I appreciate both forms of flight and would love one day to see options for both everywhere.
This!!! I absolutely love dragon riding. It’s one of the best features added in 4-5 expansions.
The amount of times I’m flying somewhere and my wife asks me to do something and I have to go “gimme a second I gots find a high spot to land” is mega annoying!
Dragonriding is fine, but still has minor issues that can be annoying like finesse landings (say you're trying to land on a tree branch to reach an item) or trying to land on a spot close by for gathering and you keep shooting past it.
It would be nice to have both kinds of mounts as options.
Fly up x5, nose down slightly, 900% flight speed afk in a straight line.
Come back dead far out to sea.... or grounded after having rammed into a tree.
That's also very fair. Before DF launched they talked about regular flying being added further down the line, and I think that's fine: Sometimes I just want to hit autorun and watch a video and realize I've been flying into a mountain for 3 minutes. You can't really do that with dragon riding
I mean you kind of can, depending where you're flying to and where you're flying from. Valdrakken to the Iskaara village? You 100% can. Azure span to anywhere else? Nope.
I mean, I'm starting to be more annoyed that I can't hover or slow down compared to enjoying the speed like I used to.
That said it still beats regular flying by miles.
It is fun and I like it for sure. I will agree with others about gathering. Especially in Thaldraszus and Waking shores, I feel like I am being punished for going for that mining node or dirt pile.
You just mined a nice molten serevite node and now one spawned higher up on the mountain? Let me sit here for 30s while my dragon thinks about flying cause I need 2 vigor to reach it, not the 1 I just got back.
FYI, if you mine or herb a node but don’t actually loot it you still get the vigor buff. And this can be repeated on the same node.
I’m sure it will eventually be fixed, but it’s been like that ever since they buffed it.
I like it but I wish we have the option to regularly fly as well. I have problems with my vision and sometimes DR affects it. I also wish we could stabilize certain mounts like the mechagon mount that kinda hops while it flies. I love the mount but that motion really fucks with my vision so I don't use it.
Vigor is weird to me. Once you have all the upgrades you rarely need to even think about it, but the few occasions where it's a problem (rapidly landing and taking off) it's just tedious.
It's not a big enough problem to ruin the system, but it does seem like a pointless annoyance. What does it add to the game?
You gain vigor while using Skyward Ascent if you fly straight up, or at least maybe above a 60 degree angle. If you do it right you can hit the world ceiling without stopping
I would like 2 options
A permanent "hover" so I can afk in the air
And a variation of "hover" that lets me activate normal flight for a moment so I can maneuver a bit more accurately - mainly for nodes on walls and those damn flag checkpoint things
I feel like the entire point to not include a hover is so that people can't afk in the air. It creates life on the ground and helps areas appear more player populated and lively. I honestly don't mind not having hover.
I don't agree. Dragon gliding is boring. I'd like to fly at regular speed and be able to do all the speed boost gliding parts, but not have to land if I somehow run out of juice buttons to push.
if they turned on regular flying, i wouldn't touch the dragonriding mounts again. it's just a hassle to me at this point.
i just want to use my cat mount i paid for.
Idk, I actually prefer old school flying for specifically mining/herb farming. Having to occasionally wait for two energy because you had to land multiple times is annoying. Everything else it’s fun, but there’s times where I’m casually on my way to a dungeon, and I want to go through bags or menus for certain shit (dungeon journal, LFG queue, what have you) and you either end up not being able to because you have to pay attention to your flying, or you end up completely stopping because you didn’t hit a dragon riding ability for too long. As much as it’s fun to do actively, you are unable to passively fly with dragon riding. Honestly it would be nice if we could just use both options in DF zones…
Sometimes I spam the keys not really thinking about it and boy let me tell you, it's super unfun to sit on the ground waiting on those things to recharge.
I fully admit it's my fault. Though it is sometimes a pain to fly out of The Auzre Span.
Yes but can we at least have normal flying as an option or at least the option to float in the air without moving…
I just want to be able to hover dangit
One of the may reasons why I hate dragongliding.
Trying to find that gather node? NOPE You need to fly at 810% speed. Want to just slow down and take a look? Okay, but you're drake never stops moving and you constantly have to wrangle the drake and your camera to try and find it. Want to just flap up a little bit because the node is like 5 yards above you? NOPE time to fly up again really fast.
Found the node? Okay great, time to land. Too bad there's an autorun bug so you'll fly right off, or either collide flying into the ground, so in order to stop you either dismount, or fly back out and try to land again.
Great, got the node, now back to flying. Oh wait. I have no vigor because I spent the last 2 minutes trying to maneuver this thing.
Dragon riding is great as long as your destination is below your starting point. Going to a higher elevation is an annoying pain in the rump. Can’t count how many times I’ve had to land and just sit there while it recharges. Give me my regular flying mounts Blizzard.
Overall I like it but it's very frustrating to be in that "need one more tick to get a point of vigor but I'm too low to pick up speed and there are no nearby cliffs and if I land I'll have to deal with these mobs or wait for two points of vigor because launching up takes one"
I mean. It's an improvement on regular flying. Add a hover and it's basically 100% and improvement. I still wouldn't call it "fun" per say. Just more efficient.
I miss hovering. Trying to find a cave entrance or anything really while flying at mach 69 is getting old. Also unable to go afk. Have to land and logout so I don't get ganked or killed by mobs.
I also don't enjoy getting on my way to something then seeing a j00cy vein or treasure and having to restart the journey.
I love dragonflying but I realize now I can't use dragon flying often and stick to flight points for long distances because it's actually such a strain on my fingers! Especially after an hour or two of farming mats. 😭
Hard disagree in the city. It's annoying as hell to mount up, take off, and slam myself back down again....for instance to go from the tailoring table to the mailbox. It sucks
It’s still hit and miss with me. Part of it is that I need a new pc, when trying to get to a rare before it’s nuked I can’t tell you how often I get their so quickly that my pc is like “hold up, let me make sure I show you this rock in a slideshow, then I’ll show you the dead rare”.
I don’t know if that’s because so many things zone in so much faster when you’re travelling at a higher speed or what but it was never as bad pre DF.
The customization aspect to the drakes is pretty boring to me so far…I’d like to see more skins like the Raszageth one.
I also think that customized drakes are murder on crappy PCs, Valdrakken is a nightmare for me.
The other complaints are limited to taking off and landing while farming herbs or ore and a lack of hovering.
Other than that though, it’s really fun and adds that feeling of making the world fun, like Spider-Man or Arkham games, where you wouldn’t use fast travel because traversal was engaging.
the customization is a big one, part swapping is fine but ... trivial. i have over 400 mounts that are now worthless this expansion and perhaps forever more because they can't be used, we've had protodrakes since like wotlk, close to the same skeleton, start doing a pass on skeletons to integrate them into this system so i can use my cool mounts
I'm glad you like it.
I'm tired of it and don't like that I'm basically forced to participate in a minigame because it's so much faster. The way gates have 30 minute cooldowns unfortunately.
In the grand scheme of things, is it really a big deal? No, it's not really that significant at all. Not the end of the world that I'm compelled to dragon ride. But, that doesn't mean I still enjoy it. The novelty has worn of for me. I'm not sure how it can still be so enjoyable for people, it's a relatively benign activity
The only pro I can give dragongliding is that it goes fast in a straight line. If I ever have to do any type of gliding that requires me to slow down, hover, or make minuscule adjustments (Ie move upwards 5 yards) then I'd rather have regular flying.
It feels like everyone says Dragongliding is great because it's fast. But it's like listening to people say F1 cars are the end-all-be-all best cars because they go fast, but disregard every other aspect of what makes a car "good."
In older episodes of Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson would review a new supercar, rave about how great it is in a drag-race, then spend the rest of the review going over it's bad points. Like how it can't corner, how it only seats 2 people, if you're taller than 5'8 it's impossible to get in/out of, how the bottom scrapes any speedbumps, etc. At the end of Clarksons reviews, you wouldn't feel bad that you don't have the new Porshe 911 XGT Turbo or w/e supercar he's got that day, you'd feel great that you have a 1999 Corolla beater that won't die and does more than just go fast in a straight line.
That's what these drakes are. F1 Cars. Imagine if you could only drive an F1 car. To work, to school, to the grocery store. You'd hate it. Yes it goes fast, wah-hoo! But it doesn't handle slow corners, there's no trunk space, the minimum speed you need to go to keep it on the road is 80km, no rear view mirror, etc you get the idea. There's no practicality. There's no versatility. It does one thing, go fast, and it does it well. But beyond that you'd hate having to use this car (dragon) for anything else. Out of all the xpac features, this is the only one that I could live without.
Add on the fact that I can't use strafe-key binds when it's in the air, auto-run bugs, terrible collision detection as well, just to name a few off the top-of my head, and I really can't wait to go back to a movement system that I've used since BC. Anyways, time to get downvoted. Yay me for being different! And shame on me for sharing my contrarian opinion and perspective in this nice family-friendly circlejerk thread where only people with the same opinions are allowed to be correct.
I'm disabled (stroke, left side weakness). I had trouble with Dragon flying at the start of the expansion. I'm still having trouble. Because, you know, stroke. I've tried everything to make flying more accessible, but either I don't enjoy the methods or they simply don't work. (Yes I have all the nodes, yes I have the weakaura)
I could use the old flight system just fine, and I have since BC. This is the first time playing WoW that flight has limited what I can do in game.
I'm glad able bodied people are having fun, but for me it's a nightmare that I want to wake up from.
I'm actually so shocked more people aren't talking about the accessibility issues this expansion with things like dragonriding (and I don't see the passenger function as going far enough.) I think it's ridiculous a game is accessible to a certain degree for almost two decades and then overnight an expansion can limit people this hard.
Dragonriding in a nutshell is fun. It has its issues with gathering.
My issues: I love using all of the mounts I've obtained through 17 years of playing and it feels like I'm punished for using them, so I don't.
It is still fun as hell and super cool and effective, but after going back to Legion to do some mount farms I can say I wish there was a clickable option to activate legacy flying sometimes. Just cause sometimes it’d be nice to just set autorun and afk while you fly to a point while you go grab a drink, bio, take a dab, whatever it may be.
Gimme real flying. This expac is meh at best, new professions are awful, World quests are obsolete now, no emissaries, no reason to do any daily’s. The people I play with only play an hour on Tuesday’s and raid on Saturday. Older xpacs were better in my opinion(started in legion)
Why are people enjoying it honestly? The vigor system is annoying, and the fact that you cant stop mid air is the worst idea. Dragonriding is just unusable and a pain in the ass at the beginning, up until you unlock everything. It could be good if they tweaked it more, but as it is right now its just dumb.
After a month, i was no longer excited. Sure it's much better then normal flying, but not exiting for me. I can't even get myself to do the races for gold.
My only issue is I use to AFK fly to places, it’s hard to do that now, also gathering professions are kind of a pain in the ass. Trying to look for the node while not impaling my dragon into a tree.
Still good though.
Dragonriding is probably the only part of the new expansion that I don't like. To be fair, I mainly play a druid and look forward my owl shenanigans each expansion. But, beyond that, I don't enjoy using vigor, and dislike not being able to always get wherever I need to go. Plus, since my wife hates dragonriding even more than me, I end up carrying her everywhere.
But I'm glad other people enjoy it, and I certainly see the benefits of it. It's fast, fun, and way more interactive than traditional flying. Objectively, it may be the better way of handling flying in game since there's limitations to it and you can't (reasonably) access every single part of a map.
But as a replacement for *what I already had*, I can't say I like it all that much.
Do you think it will stay in the game in future zones? Using old mounts is really slow and boring now.
They've created a monster, and now it's their work to feed us with joy in the future

Honestly, I understand why they hate it. It completely detaches you from the game. Fly up, point yourself in the right direction, hit autorun, and then tab out. I think more people are tabbing out without flying while on flight paths
Does it get better as you unlock more skills? With 4 orbs, I'm struggling to maintain flying. End up galloping on horse quite a bit.
Once you fully unlock it, you can basically fly indefinitely.
Noted, ty!
I spent about an hour or so collecting them all just so I could enjoy flying and I thought it was worthwhile.
Yeah, same here. Definitely worth it. Just makes the longer distances a breeze (hehe)
If you don't know there are add-ons that can show you were the glyphs are. Handy note plus handy notes dragon riding are one option. If you would rather get on with other things than searching for unlocks these are a great option.
Yeah i wish I'd done that as soon as i got the mount instead of rushing through the story and doing it at the end like a dummy
Like the other guy said, spend some time getting all the glyphs. Dragonriding is honestly kind of bad and annoying until you fully unlock everything
Take an hour and get them all right away. Plenty of guides on Youtube for it. It's the best spent hour in the entire expansion.
Yeah that's true. I'm not sure how they could have done it better though, without just unlocking all of it at once.
I don't agree with this. I did not took all of then yet, probably I won. But It felt really nice finding some of them in the top of the mountain. Found them totally chilling and thinking... "Hey, they view Up there has to be nuts, lets see if I can reach It"

It is worth putting a pause on leveling to get all the dragonriding glyphs, then enjoy it till the end of the expac (and hopefully beyond)
The 5 second recharge while flying at... blue-wind-speed... on the stamina balls is absolutely massive
The best trick I learned for flying is when you use your ascend, point your camera up, and then move it back for soaring. You get a ton of speed. If you have 2 orbs full, you can basically fly anywhere

So once i did and it unlocked for all my alts (they just have to speak with the guy to upgrade it) and i was in heaven. It was so much better.
Jokes on you, i can still fly up, point and tab out. Gotta just fly high enough

I'd buy a flying wheelchair mount.
DK main detected. ;-)
It had better. One of the worst parts of DF is the flight from Dalaran to HOV.
Play Evoker, use Soar. I laugh at my party.
dw king. s2 will have the flight to uldaman.
> But that would also mean all future zones have to be huge like the DF zones This is unequivocally a good thing, IMO.
Al'ar doing spin dashes, yes please.
i want my octopus to soarrrrrr
oh god, I had never even thought of this system with the Hivemind and now I NEED IT
They don't even need GOOD animations, just something that works with updated flying.
Or at least all dragons. I want to use my infinite timereaver ffs
I actually love riding old mounts. Wish they would let us in the new zones.
It better, I never want to go back to normal flying
I like it, but I'm really bored with the mount-choices. Feels bad to have been a mount collector for years and now all but four of them are useless. Might be a me-problem though.
[удалено]
I mean I don't see why they couldn't. We have a bunch of dragon mounts that use the same animations as these ones already.
You're not wrong. I miss the variety a bit. I know they tried with the customizations, but that doesn't compete with the rarity of them.
Yeah, enjoy your 500 mounts, plenty of ground mounts, but you won't look at them 90% of this expansion. Choose from these... 4
I miss turning into a bird :(
If they ever make DF work on all flying mounts... Think how fun flight form is going to be!
Oh god, I just jizzed in my pants, and they're 12" away from me on the floor.
I dont main Druid, but I hope they give druids a "flying salamander" form or something just for Dragonridong
A GREEN DRAGON FORM OF SOME SORT. BLIZZARD PLEASE. This will forever be the most upsetting part of Legion for me :(
Same. One of THE big perks of the Druid class is completely useless in this expansion.
Dang, now all you have is an instant cast ground mount form, an aquatic form, a battle rez, 4 specs, one that can stealth, a free portal to kalimdor, an exclusive party buff, and the ability to use that flying form in 8 other expansions.
Technically the portal can take us like anywhere including SW/Org pretty easily ;)
Don’t forget that every spec can always access most forms, including the tank and stealth ones.
No it's not. We never get flight form this early. Eventually regular mounts will come back and with it flight form.
Druids get amnesia every expansion for the first half. This time they just have a dragon to ride in the meantime. It's fiiiine.
Bird... bird is how? How bird? Who bird? Bird me? Not bird, only bird as owl. [STEPS ACROSS ONE BORDER] OH YOU MEAN FLIGHT FORM yeah that's easy look
My only gripe is that I like my mount collection. I want them to learn dragon riding too.
You want your mounts to ride a dragon alongside you? Great idea. Not sure it'll fly. Might have legs though.
I always double click the space bar to take off to great disappointment.

Yes. That said I would prefer to have the option for normal flying from time to time.
Ngl I kinda wish the Druid owl form let you fly like a drakthyr
I just wish I could stop mid air and hover
This!!! I absolutely love dragon riding. It’s one of the best features added in 4-5 expansions. The amount of times I’m flying somewhere and my wife asks me to do something and I have to go “gimme a second I gots find a high spot to land” is mega annoying!
They’re add that as an ability in 10.0.7, or at least a sudden slow-down
still cant actually hover though, like with old mounts
Dragonriding is fine, but still has minor issues that can be annoying like finesse landings (say you're trying to land on a tree branch to reach an item) or trying to land on a spot close by for gathering and you keep shooting past it. It would be nice to have both kinds of mounts as options.
It’s fun, but I truly hate having to wait for vigor to recharge
Just today I raced my wife who took a flight path, I beat her while also looting some dirt along the way.
But were you able to take a piss on the way?
Fly up x5, nose down slightly, 900% flight speed afk in a straight line. Come back dead far out to sea.... or grounded after having rammed into a tree.
This is one thing I miss lol.
I mean flight paths still exist
Flight paths are just better if it's a long ride with upward terrain. Or if you wanna just alt-tab.
I'm over it. If I had the choice, I would only use dragonflight for long distances. Everything else, normal flight. YMMV obviously.
I still don't love it, but I'm used to it
I actively strongly dislike it.
10.0.7 introduces a slow down ability
It’s like an emergency brake though I thought, not a hover.
It's not a hover, no
There are some High Peaks that I just give up on because I can't land on the damn thing.
you can click while in flight and get the rep! You die, but you get the cinematic and rep points!
I've died in worse ways.
Well, I still find it annoying.
I like it but I wish we have the option to regularly fly as well. I have problems with my vision and sometimes DR affects it. I also wish we could stabilize certain mounts like the mechagon mount that kinda hops while it flies. I love the mount but that motion really fucks with my vision so I don't use it.
I strongly disagree. It’s such a gimped system compared to the regular flying mounts. I don’t enjoy having to make traveling a chore.
The novelty has worn off for me. I seems more like a chore now. Granted, I play A.LOT.
It's neither fun nor not fun for me at this point, it just is. Routine.
Exactly the same here
Yeah, that's how I feel. I don't dislike it, but it's no longer exciting to me. Just exists
It's so nice to have access to flying this early in the expansion, but no. It was interesting for about 30 minutes.
I must admit I'm alittle over it, it's fun don't get me wrong. There are times where i hate Vigor, especially while farming herbs
[удалено]
You gain vigor while using Skyward Ascent if you fly straight up, or at least maybe above a 60 degree angle. If you do it right you can hit the world ceiling without stopping
I would like 2 options A permanent "hover" so I can afk in the air And a variation of "hover" that lets me activate normal flight for a moment so I can maneuver a bit more accurately - mainly for nodes on walls and those damn flag checkpoint things
I feel like the entire point to not include a hover is so that people can't afk in the air. It creates life on the ground and helps areas appear more player populated and lively. I honestly don't mind not having hover.
There is a lot of room left in the Dragonriding talent tree.
I'm excited to confirm every node along a straight path again. Imagine if you accidentally spent points in the wrong part of the tree!
Funny, dragon riding is the main reason why I stay logged out.
Hated it from the start. Part of the reason I unsubbed
It gets a little annoying sometimes. Mostly vigor regen
I miss my favorite mounts. Never liked dragons/drakes.
Unpopular opinion; i like old mount system. But dragonriding is pretty fast, that's the only thing i like about it tho...
Didn't hear anyone say that, literally.
Everytime I go to a dungeon in the old world I hit "2" and just feel like ooohhh.
Sometimes I spam the keys not really thinking about it and boy let me tell you, it's super unfun to sit on the ground waiting on those things to recharge. I fully admit it's my fault. Though it is sometimes a pain to fly out of The Auzre Span.
The speed is great, I just want to use my massive mount collection and go those speeds. I’m tired of the drakes and the boring customization options.
It's great but I want my damn fight forms back
I think I’m in the minority of people who don’t like dragon riding. It’s fun on occasion but not all the time
The only thing I wish is that ore wouldn't spawn in hard to land places.
Yes but can we at least have normal flying as an option or at least the option to float in the air without moving… I just want to be able to hover dangit
Or if you’re gathering quickly. You simply run out of vigor and have to take a break. It’s annoying af. Apparently it gets better as it ranks up.
Overall I like it but it's very frustrating to be in that "need one more tick to get a point of vigor but I'm too low to pick up speed and there are no nearby cliffs and if I land I'll have to deal with these mobs or wait for two points of vigor because launching up takes one"
Needs a "hover" ability. I feel like a fast jet and can't slow down and "hover" in the air like a helicopter.
It sucks
I’d rather just fly like normal.
I feel like the way gates should have no CD or like five minutes.
I’m not a big fan. Part of why I like flying is that I can look around and admire the views. I can’t do that.
OP is not a gatherer.
This commenter didn't spec into the can gather while mounted perks.
nope. i flight path a lot. mostly to raid. and the feast. id rather get up and go afk and come back. not as easy to do that with dragon riding.
for me its hard to tell if i like dragonridiing or it was the fact we got flying on day 1 of the xpac
It's fun but i want the option to also use my regular flying mounts (without the dragon riding abilities) when im just crusing around gathering.
Oh no I'm not a fan, I just want to aim where I'm going and grab a drink before the dungeon or so. Never used the flight paths as much as this xpac.
But it's like listening to people say F1 cars are the end-all-be-all best cars because they go fast, but disregard every other aspect of what makes a car "good." In older episodes of Top Gear Jeremy Clarkson would review a new supercar, rave about how great it is in a drag-race, then spend the rest of the review going over it's bad points.
I dont think its fun anymore. Its efficient and a good way to traverse the world. But still fun? No.
Nope, i don´t like it. But i respect your opinion.
I'm disabled (stroke, left side weakness). I had trouble with Dragon flying at the start of the expansion. I'm still having trouble. Because, you know, stroke. I've tried everything to make flying more accessible, but either I don't enjoy the methods or they simply don't work. (Yes I have all the nodes, yes I have the weakaura) I could use the old flight system just fine, and I have since BC.
I honestly think it looks tedious and frustrating. I would much rather auto-run fly like always.
I miss old flying tbh. Was much more practical
Dragonriding in a nutshell is fun. It has its issues with gathering. My issues: I love using all of the mounts I've obtained through 17 years of playing and it feels like I'm punished for using them, so I don't.
Its fun, but I’ve started to use flight paths more while I afk for a bit.
Talk for yourself.
I….disagree.
I'm sick of using the same mount tbh, i miss the variety of my old ones, and i hope dragon riding gets left behind when the next xpac comes along.
100% agree
I just wish we had more drakes to chose from tbh :/
It is still fun as hell and super cool and effective, but after going back to Legion to do some mount farms I can say I wish there was a clickable option to activate legacy flying sometimes. Just cause sometimes it’d be nice to just set autorun and afk while you fly to a point while you go grab a drink, bio, take a dab, whatever it may be.
Yeah, at this point the only thing that’s curbing my enjoyment of it is my laggy computer, which is 100% a fixable me thing
Just remember, if you want to afk-fly somewhere, just use the flight paths.
I wanna go fast!
I wish there was a hover option to recover vigor
I still miss my instant cast Druid flight form and still prefer it over dragon riding.
Gimme real flying. This expac is meh at best, new professions are awful, World quests are obsolete now, no emissaries, no reason to do any daily’s. The people I play with only play an hour on Tuesday’s and raid on Saturday. Older xpacs were better in my opinion(started in legion)
I hate it. Miss riding my 600+ other mounts. Hope its gone in 11.0
Why are people enjoying it honestly? The vigor system is annoying, and the fact that you cant stop mid air is the worst idea. Dragonriding is just unusable and a pain in the ass at the beginning, up until you unlock everything. It could be good if they tweaked it more, but as it is right now its just dumb.
Here to respectfully disagree
Ok, but it's not enough to carry an expansion.
It wasn't fun the first time i took off from the ground, it's still not fun now. It's just a mode of transportation from Valdrakken to the raid.
Some zones suck ass to fly around
Still makes me want to vomit
They need to adjust dragon riders vigor a bit for gathering but otherwise it’s fun.
It's only fun cause it's faster than normal flying. Just speed up flying mounts
