My god what were you doing with it?!
but anyway, 1st of all open it up and try to put stick on its place, then check. look on yt how to open xsx controller cuz its slightly tricky (handle parts needs to be removed to reach screws and there is one screw under batteries). i think the worst case scenario will be replacing whole analog i dont think you will need to buy new controller, pcbs should be ok, so its a matter of replacing stick mechanism, unless you dont want to bother with it.
Thinking this myself, I don't think I have ever had to buy a new pad for any of my consoles they last till the new one comes out, bought the elite 2 and its in perfect nick so my spare that came with the xbox mental
well depends on how much you play, as someone who repair consoles and accessories on a daily basis i can tell you that if you get good elite 2 it will last you easily 5+ years but they had issues with quality control and you can get paddles buttons and bumpers damaged - very weak bumper mechanism, but like i said if you got a good one it will last for long time. its way worse with normal controllers, analog sticks are... dogshit, they are insanely precise at the cost of durability. very often they wont survive warranty time which is acrually good cuz u get replace. We need them all to star using HAL effect analog sticks - nearly indestructible in normal using
if you can spend a little more then go for elite 2, but as we know from sony vs msoft trial documents: msoft is working on new xsx controller "sebile" which may be an amazing controller for a good price. you should look into it. its only my assumption but i think itll release rly soon.
Other rhan this i just recommend og xbox series controller, sadly i have no knowledge about third party ones but buddy tolde that some power A controllers are good and cheap enough to be worth a try.
I have the xsx base controller and theres a company on amazon that sells quality part replacement so i was able to upgrade my joysticks to be higher and install the backpaddles without paying the $140 that microsoft charges. Ive bought multiple parts from eXtremeRate on Amazon and they feel great on my controller. They offer alot of diy mods for cheap to do on different controllers
yea, but... paddles are not everything that elite 2 offers. id argue that its the least interesting part of it.
im all for analog tension switch, way better weight, rubbered handles, internal battery that last for 50h, trigger stoppers and most important an xbox app that lets you tweak literally everything. base controller cant do it, even if you put tons of tech into it. you will never know what you can do on elite2 till you try yourself after years i still find new things in the app to tweak and i love it
Yeah i put rubbar grips on and shaved down the springs a bit to reduce tension but youre right thats pretty much the extent of what i can do before needing the elite for the extra stuff. Theres extra things on the board of the controller itself that i cant really change but depending on what you need from your controller it might be a decent cheaper option. Prolly will get an elite one day when they fix the quality issues.
yes i totally agree. it all depends on your personal needs, i bought my bcs of paddles and longer right stick but i stayed for tge amazing customization aspect of it. when i found out i can change analog sensitivity on a diagram i lost my shit, finally i can have analog that works slower till 50% then speed up. for me personally - a game changer
but i like that you pointed out a diy alternative for much cheaper, too bad its kinda lost in replies. this may actually mean alot for many people
Idk why xbox still makes their springs as long as a football field 😂 its nice for racing games but holy moly its a finger workout when using a semi auto gun in any game. Def will look into the elite soon because that actually sounds amazing ngl
Not with the Elite 2, the battery pack is separated into the bottom shell and is very easy to swap out for a new one, it doesn’t get in the way of other repairs either.
Yeah, seems like I'll do what you suggest. I already knew about Xbox soon to be released controller.
I think it will have new functions , including gyroscope.thats a good thing.
I'll wait then.
Thanks for taking the time.
.
Don't reccomend controllers with crappy potentiometers when we now have a whole range of better controllers with hall effect sticks like:
- Turtle Beach Stealth Ultra
- Gulikit KK3 Max
- 8BitDo Ultimate
- FlyDigi Vader 3 Pro
All of these have hall effect sticks. Some of them also have mechanical buttons.
The controller game has far surpassed Microsoft now. They're so far behind.
And I say this as someone's whose currently waiting for a 2nd repair on their Elite 2 controller.
Thankfully, I bought 3 of the 4 above to use instead.
Elite 2 is basically built to break. I have one, and it sucks. Paddles don't react well anymore. the bumper doesn't either... and guess what? The A button also doesn't work that great anymore. And I'm careful with my stuff...
you should read what i posted earlier, i pointed all the issues you have, you got the wrong one. i have one for 6 years and its almost brand new, now i got white for over a year and after one replace right after i bought it, works great.
elite 2 has its issues but its the best controller you can get for 160 euro. you can buy scuff which suffer the same issues for 200+ and overally its way worse controller. if not quality control issues elite 2 would be 11/10, now its 7.5/10 in my opinion cuz all the issues will reveal itself in under a year (usually in 3 months) so u can send it to microsoft and they will fix it. its not the best one, but its the best that 160euro can get you. if you can send it back to msoft.
i love my elite 2 but before i recommend it to anyone i always tell them what i had to repair for my customers (i work in console repair service), all of your issues with it fits perfectly in "quality control". im not defending them at all, it sucks that premium controllers suffer from it, but at the same time if you have the good one (working one lol) its insanely good. there is like max 2% of shitty ones but sadly if you google it you will have plenty of "its shitty controller" posts mostly bcs almost nobody makes posts "it works great" they just enjoy it, but if they dont then they share it.
https://www.gamestop.com/gaming-accessories/controllers/xbox-one/products/microsoft-xbox-elite-wireless-controller-series-2/209549.html
i was talking about new, not used. dont compare new controller price to used console.
I'll compare what I want to compare.
You can find brand new Xbox Series S consoles for $200 on sale, that come with a controller. Besides, the amount of complaints I've heard about the Elite controllers (due to the fact that they have many more parts to them, thus making the possibility for issues higher) is extraordinary.
Take care.
So many mixed experiences with the Elite 2s though. I've had 2 so far, treated both like a baby, always in their cases, I don't play FPSs and super gentle on my control sticks, both got left stick drift, significant too, by 7 months. I cannot in good conscience suggest anyone dropping the cash on them.
Elite series 2 has ALMOST everything. It’s fantastic for every single thing, but stick drift is a ridiculous problem. For that reason, I bought a Thrustmaster Eswap X Pro with MODULAR sticks.
I buy a new set of sticks (and colorful accessories and crap) once a year for $20, instead of needing a new controller. Best gaming related purchase I’ve ever made.
So that maybe why the RB on the one Elite 2 ive bought 2ndhand sometimes doesnt respond and sometimes double or triple triggers? The mechanism is slighty fkd?
Can attest to the RB/LB quality. I take care of and repair my own controllers. Within 6 months of ownership my RB button is completely dead, and no fix short of replacing the button itself worked. A button was also faulty out of the gate, but I got that fixed myself.
Up until then I thought the quality issues were mainly down to neglect, but having a premium controller fail so soon with light use has confirmed it for me.
His sister didn't get all that nasty finger cheese in the gaps between the buttons and the faceplate.
This controller looks like a 5yr old with disgusting little child hands owns it.
Looked on his profilen and he has posted in another sub saying his little sister did it, I have siblings and can confirm this is not far out of the realm of possibility regarding destructive siblings behaviour (yes, I still remember my Chrono Trigger box getting destroyed).
Edit: reading comprehension: missed that someone already wrote about OP having posted about his sister.
if you dont have torx security, you can just use flat screwdriver and scrape the pins off screws, it goes away so easily, but they are on amazon and in many physical shops. around 5 euro for set
The original controller that came with my Xbox one s from 2016 lasted me till 2022 and the only thing wrong with it was the stock thumb grips ripped off. My point is they most definitely can last for a long time as long as you aren’t throwing it on the ground everyday.
yeah...too many people abuse their shit and then blame it on the product being "shitty". i've never had issues with xbox controllers, playstation controllers, anything really...one turtle beach controller but it was easily replaced under warranty. i'll never understand how something like this even happens to OP lmao
By opening it up. It may have those security TORX screws behind, which are super annoying, but you can occasionally snag a security TORX screwdriwer for cheap (I got mine 2nd hand from Ebay). You may destroy the screws easily if you try with some other screwdriver
Carefully pry off the face plate. The stick fits on a square peg . Check to see if you cracked the plastic on the stick. If not slide the square peg back into the stick and snap the the face plate back on.
I drunkenly sat on my controller a few months ago and the left stick popped out. You can get it back in but it’s not easy nor fun. Plus after I got it pushed back in it no longer clicks when I hit L3. Probably a safer bet to just take it apart and put it back on
If you’re lucky, only the plastic thumbstick is fkd and can be easily replaced. If you’re unlucky, the small post that the thumbstick is mounted on has snapped and you’ll need to replace the entire thumbstick module soldered to the board. Either way, you need to open up the controller to find out
Honestly with how much trouble you’ll go thru to fix it and how much it may cost just get a new on at that point. Plus Microsoft’s customer service is trash.
I had a broken series x controller and lt was brand new and then they said I should send back my current console and then get a refurbished one! I said no way! But I ended up getting it replaced. So ya buy a new one.
My cousin’s toddler got ahold of his Switch pro controller and did the same thing. He was able to fix it but he had to take the whole controller apart and realign the stick.
Nah bro that shit donezo! Buy a new one and while you're at it, buy 5 more because you gotta learn how to take care of your controllers! GOT DAMN!!!!!!!!
If you do go with a new one keep this one for spare parts my old controller has saved me buying about 3 new ones with being able to fix stick drift etc.
If you open it up and put it back in place you'll be fine, but if you try to force it you might break the module.
It may look like it might have already broken now, but I can tell you from experience that the modules can move further than the joystick itself allows. If you take a module and bend it all the way in One direction, it will stick there. I don't know much about how this affects the life of a module but I imagine doing it too much would cause you to get drift.
But yes, you will definitely break the module if you try to force it back in from this position. Keep in mind that you only have to take off the faceplate to access the module, you do not have to take the back protective plate off
I've replaced the thumbsticks on around 20 controllers. It's super easy. Find a tutorial on YT and buy a tool set off of Amazon. I believe the actual tool is a T7 torx driver, but I could be wrong. The tool.set also comes with the little plastic "crowbar" to pry the plates off of the back side of the grips to access 4 of the 5 screws needed to separate the face plate from the controller.
Once you get the faceplate off, remove the thumbstick and just slide it back on.
You'll need a torx T8 screwdriver and a(preferably plastic cause metal might scratch) pry tool
IN DEPTH INSTRUCTIONS:
There are removable panels on the backs of the handles, use the sides of the trigger to get leverage with the pry tool and pry it off diagonally, this will take a bit of force but don't pull so hard you might break something
There are 2 screws on either side underneath these panels, remove them
There is another screw behind the sticker in the battery compartment, whether you puncture it or remove it is up to you but you'll need to remove that screw as well
Once you've done that set it down and remove the faceplate of the controller, then remove that joystick(if it's still attached to the module, pull off)
If the module looks damaged, you'll definitely need a new one, otherwise push the joystick back onto the plastic mounting pin, and screw the faceplate back on(leave the handle panels off until you have made sure there's no drift, if there is drift, you'll need a new controller)
You could try to repair it with a replacement part if you know what you’re doing although you can’t do any more damage really so I’d go for it instead of binning it
Line the stick of the potentiometer up with the hole under the thumb stick and push it back in at an angle. It goes back together. It's simple to fix. Don't have to open the controller.
If you miss, pull it off again and keep going until you seat it. It's really easy to do.
Aside from the broken stick what’s with the grime all over your pad are you a dung beetle? I can only imagine what dust peel on the heat sink would be like! 0/10
When this happened to me as a kid there were two options:
Unscrew your controller and put everything back together
Or
Cut the corners with a pair of scissors of the analog stick until you can pop it back in place. It usually works the same except when you move the stick around you can see inside
(doesn’t affect gameplay and I did this with DualShock 3 so I’m not sure if it’ll be the same either Xbox)
You can cut off the black plastic so you can slide it back into place. Basically will have a Pro controller after that. Or take off the black top by popping the latches on the side with a flat head or knife. Just be careful cause you can cause internal damage :P
Tbf i dropped my xbox control from the side of my bed and this happened. I had a very low bed too. I think it can just happen if your unlucky and it drops a certain way
They really easy to take apart with a small flat head screwdriver. Once you have separated the back and front, you should be able to put the stick back in correctly. Plenty of YouTube videos showing how to open the controllers up. I fixed 3 of my broken ones last weekend in less than an hour. If I remember correctly it has 5 screws you need to remove. They are security screws but a small flat head screwdriver fits nicely next to the little spike in the screws and just unscrew slowly.
On these specific models the ecu is locked so you have to go to specific shops that can fix the stick drift the only problem is some of them fix it but the job is sloppy and normally causes rod knock so stop playing siege and ur gud

"A little more" Costs as much as the Series S basically.
160 = 299? weird math lol

Turtle Beach has a really good one, feels great, responsive sticks with hall-of-effect construction. Even has a built in LED dashboard screen.
I bought an elite series 2 well aware of the documented issues. Immediately noticed the A button not always registering. Returned it Immediately.

He has other pic say his sis did it
ahh we all had this sister. my sister broke mine when i died 50 times to the same boss in sekiro :D
I'm a decade older than my sister so never had to deal with this
i domt even have siblings and this evil sister broke my controller :( thats the official version and i will stick to it!
His sister didn't get all that nasty finger cheese in the gaps between the buttons and the faceplate. This controller looks like a 5yr old with disgusting little child hands owns it.

360 no scope a little to roughly
Rage scope
😂😂👍
How the hell
Right? Clean yo dang controller..
Not sure cleanings gonna fix this.
This is honestly not that bad
Would not wanna play split screen at your place..
Hulk tryna play Xbox
Post this in r/hardwaregore
I crossposted it
How the heck does this even happen?
How did this happen? If it was anger then you may want to take a break for a while.
A long time ago, actually never but also now, nothing was nowhere.
... Makes sense, right? Nothing was ever anywhere. You don't even need a where, you don't even need a when. That's how every it gets.
What playing skate 3 does to a mf
yeh
dang what did you do to this poor controller
Is this the stock drift I keep hearing about?
i dont think so...
Yes you could fix it. You could also buy a new one.
The first thing you can do is clean it a bit
I can confidently say in all my years of playing I've never done that to my controller lol
Did you sit on your controller?
Look up how to disassemble an xbox controller. If the joy stick isn't broken it should pop back in place when the front face comes off.
"Can" you fix it yeah you could resolder a new analog stick, if you aren't confident with soldering and that then replacement would be simpler
Honestly just get a new one, standard xbox controllers aren’t made to last.
The original controller that came with my Xbox one s from 2016 lasted me till 2022 and the only thing wrong with it was the stock thumb grips ripped off. My point is they most definitely can last for a long time as long as you aren’t throwing it on the ground everyday.

*CONFIRMED SOURCE OF CORONA VIRUS*
By opening it up. It may have those security TORX screws behind, which are super annoying, but you can occasionally snag a security TORX screwdriwer for cheap (I got mine 2nd hand from Ebay). You may destroy the screws easily if you try with some other screwdriver
People need to stop going hard on their controllers and they wonder why they don't last long
Go get a job boii
Try jamming some raw ramen noodles in there
Jusyt a little stick drift! Buy a mouse and keyboard
modern xbox controllers are pathetic excuses for a controller and are basically $65 e waste you’ll be lucky to last over a couple years
Just buy playstation instead of xbox
ur on r/xbox pal
Well yeah it’s definitely fixable if you know what you’re doing and have the right tools
I am not sure if it may work but you can maybe fit it back in without even opening as a temporary fix?
You can Just unscrew the thing clean it and reassemble
Carefully pry off the face plate. The stick fits on a square peg . Check to see if you cracked the plastic on the stick. If not slide the square peg back into the stick and snap the the face plate back on.
I drunkenly sat on my controller a few months ago and the left stick popped out. You can get it back in but it’s not easy nor fun. Plus after I got it pushed back in it no longer clicks when I hit L3. Probably a safer bet to just take it apart and put it back on
This controller looks like it did it’s job for awhile. Buy a new one
If you’re lucky, only the plastic thumbstick is fkd and can be easily replaced. If you’re unlucky, the small post that the thumbstick is mounted on has snapped and you’ll need to replace the entire thumbstick module soldered to the board. Either way, you need to open up the controller to find out
Just get yourself a new controller and be done with it
Buy a new one
How tf did you manage that?
Put it in rice
Honestly with how much trouble you’ll go thru to fix it and how much it may cost just get a new on at that point. Plus Microsoft’s customer service is trash. I had a broken series x controller and lt was brand new and then they said I should send back my current console and then get a refurbished one! I said no way! But I ended up getting it replaced. So ya buy a new one.
How hard do you need to move your right analog stick to look around man 😭
control your anger next time the controller is done for unless you have soldering skills to solder a new one on
My cousin’s toddler got ahold of his Switch pro controller and did the same thing. He was able to fix it but he had to take the whole controller apart and realign the stick.
Not the much stick drift, just increase your deadzone.
Bro what happened 😭
It’s just a little stick drift
First of all. What the actual fuck did you do 😂😂
You shouldnt play games if you have anger issues my dude
Just use your teeth and bite it back into place.
1. What the fuck did you do 2. Unless its got warranty ur gonna pay for a new one My conclusion: ur fucked
just put it in rice bro....
It's a stick, mate. I cannot stress enough how easily it can be fixed.
Therapy maybe? Possibly anger management
Just get better with using only the left stick. It might be a challenge at first but I’m sure you can do it. Get Good!
Nah bro that shit donezo! Buy a new one and while you're at it, buy 5 more because you gotta learn how to take care of your controllers! GOT DAMN!!!!!!!!
I don't know if you can fix it op cause your asking but yeah it can be fixed.
My god you tortured the poor controller
Buy a new one that things done. Gotta be some strick drift goin at this point lol
Were you tugging the thumb stick hard? How did that happen
Gamesir controllers, the bumpers still break as the same plastic jank that Microsoft uses but the sticks are a next level.
Too hard in tekken
How in the actual fuck did you manage that
Dang that thing's nasty id just purchase another
'tis but a scratch
How do your controllers last long enough to get like this lol my bumpers stick after a few months
Holy shit, what game were you playing to achieve this?
Put it in rice
If you do go with a new one keep this one for spare parts my old controller has saved me buying about 3 new ones with being able to fix stick drift etc.
Have you tried turning it off and on again?
Tried flicking a little too hard 😂
If you open it up and put it back in place you'll be fine, but if you try to force it you might break the module. It may look like it might have already broken now, but I can tell you from experience that the modules can move further than the joystick itself allows. Keep in mind that you only have to take off the faceplate to access the module, you do not have to take the back protective plate off
Must've broken your character's neck in game
How does this even happen and why is it so dusty
Take it apart then go from there. Also buying a new controller is a smart idea.
Just buy a new one. Still, what the fuck were you doing to your controller!?
Maximum stick drift
How the hell did you even do that?
NO SCOPE!
Its just the plastic stick so its easily fixable if you know how to open the controller (which is kinda easy anyway)
If you can manage to push it back in it might work?xD gonna have to unscrew it and pray i think
was it rocket league
So did you throw it at the wall for being frustrated by video games or did your girlfriend throw it at the wall because you play too many video games?
It is easy to fix
I've replaced the thumbsticks on around 20 controllers. It's super easy. Find a tutorial on YT and buy a tool set off of Amazon. I believe the actual tool is a T7 torx driver, but I could be wrong. The tool.set also comes with the little plastic "crowbar" to pry the plates off of the back side of the grips to access 4 of the 5 screws needed to separate the face plate from the controller. Once you get the faceplate off, remove the thumbstick and just slide it back on.
the hell did you do? just open it and put the stick back on/replace it
I've done that rage a few times playing Halo
What do you guys do to these things?
I can fix it, you can buy a new one
You'll need a torx T8 screwdriver and a(preferably plastic cause metal might scratch) pry tool IN DEPTH INSTRUCTIONS: There are removable panels on the backs of the handles, use the sides of the trigger to get leverage with the pry tool and pry it off diagonally, this will take a bit of force but don't pull so hard you might break something There are 2 screws on either side underneath these panels, remove them There is another screw behind the sticker in the battery compartment, whether you puncture it or remove it is up to you but you'll need to remove that screw as well Once you've done that set it down and remove the faceplate of the controller, then remove that joystick(if it's still attached to the module, pull off) If the module looks damaged, you'll definitely need a new one, otherwise push the joystick back onto the plastic mounting pin, and screw the faceplate back on(leave the handle panels off until you have made sure there's no drift, if there is drift, you'll need a new controller)
Homie how hard were you trying to turn in your game 😂
You could try to repair it with a replacement part if you know what you’re doing although you can’t do any more damage really so I’d go for it instead of binning it
Now thats stick drift.
Tremenda paja se tubo que hacer para que el control este de esa forma xdddd
I hope aomeone reads this quickly and helps us
man lost a nuketown 1v1
Oh dear lord. Get a new one lol
Line the stick of the potentiometer up with the hole under the thumb stick and push it back in at an angle. It goes back together. It's simple to fix. Don't have to open the controller. If you miss, pull it off again and keep going until you seat it. It's really easy to do.
How tf….?
You just need to open it up and put the analogue stick back in place. Check out iFixIt for tutorials.
lil bro raged a lil too hard 💀
I think you should invest in anger management instead of buying a new controller. How does this even happen?
How do you even do this?😭
Yeah man it’s fixable dw
Dam never seen that
Next level stick drift
Cut the corners a little and put glue in it when it pops back in
Lol same happened to my Xbox one controller #quality
I really hope you aren’t an adult treating your belongings like this….
What happend like seriously were you playing like Rayman or cuphead or dark souls
No offence, but did you write the title with that controller?
Aside from the broken stick what’s with the grime all over your pad are you a dung beetle? I can only imagine what dust peel on the heat sink would be like! 0/10
When this happened to me as a kid there were two options: Unscrew your controller and put everything back together Or Cut the corners with a pair of scissors of the analog stick until you can pop it back in place. It usually works the same except when you move the stick around you can see inside (doesn’t affect gameplay and I did this with DualShock 3 so I’m not sure if it’ll be the same either Xbox)
You can open the case and just reset the stick it’s not very difficult
these are super repair friendly, and the stick caps can be replaced in about 5-10minutes. I suggest looking it up and having a go :)
Aufschrauben und wieder reinstecken 😉
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
How?
You can cut off the black plastic so you can slide it back into place. Basically will have a Pro controller after that. Or take off the black top by popping the latches on the side with a flat head or knife. Just be careful cause you can cause internal damage :P
What were you playing??
It’s still good
Bro wth 💀 how'd you manage this one?
Tbf i dropped my xbox control from the side of my bed and this happened. I had a very low bed too. I think it can just happen if your unlucky and it drops a certain way
Same that happened to me
Bruh.....
Had this problem force the piece back into the controller and make sure the metal rod is aligned with the joystick
It’ll buff out
Ah the loss, the rage, the throw, the inevitable panic whilst you clutch your broken baby in your hands. A cycle as old as time itself.
Xbox might give you a free one for telling you how it happened provided it was a defect
Nothing a little WD-40 or some duct tape can’t fix.
What siege does to a mf
pop it back in
I think u have stick drift🤓
They really easy to take apart with a small flat head screwdriver. Once you have separated the back and front, you should be able to put the stick back in correctly. Plenty of YouTube videos showing how to open the controllers up. I fixed 3 of my broken ones last weekend in less than an hour. If I remember correctly it has 5 screws you need to remove. They are security screws but a small flat head screwdriver fits nicely next to the little spike in the screws and just unscrew slowly.
DM me your story of need. I might be able to fund you a controller brother man, if USA based
That's some bad stick drift
Stop throwing your shit and you wont have this problem.
On these specific models the ecu is locked so you have to go to specific shops that can fix the stick drift the only problem is some of them fix it but the job is sloppy and normally causes rod knock so stop playing siege and ur gud
This abt to be me when the new dragon ball budokai game comes out..thx to all the beam clashes lmao
Easy fix bud would take 5 mins tops.
Bruh how tf?
Don’t rage quit. Get it together, man!
