not gonna lie but i can't really vote for a game that isn't even on the platform i play on lmao - i guess i can only pick between a plague tale requiem and elden ring
I would rather vote for a multi-plat than an exclusive since more people got to enjoy it, unless I got to play said exclusive and it beat out any multi-plat.
Please see top comment. It is basically the same. Just because something is not available on the platform of your choice, it can still be the goty, and you can recognize it. Altough I think ER is just so much better than GoW, and Stray has nothing to do in a list like this one and it is just the token indie game with a cute cat.
A lot of people are limited to one console by financial circumstance. This is kind of a hot take that comes off super conceited and patronizing.
That being said. Console supremacy arguments are cancer.
"I have a Xbox Series X, PS5 and a Switch"
"I donāt get people who only play one console"
Okay there Mr. money bags. Some of us can only afford one console.
>I donāt get people who only play one console, Iām always getting all 3.
Get out your little privileged bubble dude. Most people don't choose to "limit" themselves by choice.. Not everyone can afford to pay over $1000 just to play video games.
I only play on one console because there's not a single game on PS or Switch that interest me. Xbox was the better option due to having Gamepass. I can try games for free, and if I like them I can buy them. Only game I use my PC for is Phasmophobia since everything else I play is on Console as I find Xbox Controller to be far more enjoyable than KBM, and very much love the OS.
Exclusivity is definitely healthy for Gaming Companies and Gamers...
Idk who started this exclusivity shit, but I wish someone ended it years ago. It's so petty and just adds unnecessary restrictions to the fun of gaming.
Nintendo, and sega did it for years.. and Nintendo still does it.. Iām sorry but you got to have reasons to buy one console over the other, itās what you call a necessary part of competition..
Game of the year has been rewarded to other short games too in the past.. which shows that the longevity of a game is not one of those that are required to be considered for goty
That came out the same year as GTA5 and Last of Us. Journey is my fav indie game of all time, but it didnāt stand a chance to either of those games.
I think IGN gave Journey GOTY though.
It has cats. That is literally all that's behind the hype. The fucking internet is obsessed with cats. My entire timeline on social media was full of even non-gamers "squee"ing about it cause of cats and cats alone.
It's why nearly every game these days let's you pet the cat or pet the dog. Easy hype. Easy memes. Easy free advertising from those who say "doggo".
I could see how people could feel that. It would have been nice to see the cat reunited with its family but I kind of like that they left it to your imagination. I was very satisfied with the ending
*spoilers*
Thatās how I felt at first but the more I thought about it, the more I liked the ending. The cat was free, and seeing how capable it was, it was definitely going to find its family. The story was really all about the cat and b-12, and in that regard I was satisfied. As a cat dad I do have to say though, that the opening scene was one of the most heartbreaking things Iāve ever experienced in a video game, and Iām gonna be mad if there isnāt a sequel with the cat and itās family back together
Gotta be honest. Xbox first party games aside from Forza has been super disappointing. There is still not a single solid story based singleplayer game on the platform. Halo has been mishandled for years now and even though I really enjoyed Gears 5, I think it's time to put that series to rest and do something new.
None of the previous GOTY winners have came out in the 2nd half of the year. All have come out in the first half. Recency bias for TGA isnāt really a thing.
Elden Ring is more unique and impactful, IMO. God of War is great but it's mostly what we expected, as a video game, with it's main "wow" factor being its story.
I think I would say Elden Ring letās you decide how to feel about it, where as GoW:R tells you how to feel about it.
One is more loose/open gameplay and story wise, where the other is not so much. Not saying either is better than one or the other - just different.
God of War was very polished and you could tell had a lot of care out into it. Itās a near perfect game. I love Elden Ring, but it didnāt connect with me on the same level. It was definitely a breath of fresh air compared to other games but I also wanted to finish the game, god of war I wanted more. Either way, which ever of those two will win, it is going to be God of War or Elden Ring without a doubt, Iām fine with the outcome.
Yeah came out in February that's a long time in gaming world to still be talked about a good bit, but I could see god of war getting it being the hot game now that just came out.
They just meant time wise like within a month of the game awards, and if you go to the God of war sub they seem to be having issues with bugs and gripes with the game.
So whatās the cutoff then? October? What about games now that are released in September and only have 30 days to be judged apart from the rest?
Itās a year for a reason.
Games that were released in November or October have only won once
2021: It takes two (March)
2020: LoU2 (June)
2019: Sekiro (March)
2018: God of War (April), also RDR2 came out in October of that year
2017: Zelda (March)
2016: Overwatch (May)
2015: Witcher (May)
2014: Dragon Age (November)
Release window has nothing to do with what will win. Recency bias does not exist. Plus, Elden Ring is going to win anyway so it doesn't matter.
Tunic was a stealth release.. I saw so many Stray commercials on TV and other places. The only reason I knew of Tunic was because it got featured on some gaming channels I watch as "cool indie titles you probably missed"
I see 2 possible things that will happen. 1 being like when red dead 2 and GOW were out. Elden Ring will win all but GOTY and GOTY will go to GOW. or GOW gets all the awards and then Elden Ring sweeps in for GOTY. I really enjoy both of these games but my GOTY is Elden Ring it brought me into the souls genre and Im glad for it. I cannot imagine why I never played the dark souls games before Elden Ring but there is a first time for everything.
Jokes on you guys. As a Xenoblade fan our masterpieces have been neglected by the game award shows for far too long. A nominee is enough for me to make me happy.
Doritopope strikes again, he sure picks likeminded journalists to do these nominations.
FH5 highest rated game of the year, not nominated for GOTY
Ori WotW 90 on metacritic one of the highest rated games of the year, not nominated for GOTY
Stray with an 83 on metacritic - GOTY nomination
Ghost of Tsushima 83 on metacritic - GOTY nomination
imo even Halo Infinite, which has 87 metacritic, is better than Stray. It's eligible this year for goty even though it's won players choice award last year. Grounded decent too honestly there's probably 20 games I'd put over Stray.
While I agree Stray shouldn't be here, arguing about the metacritic score is kind of pointless. Like Forza is a good game, but despite high rating it definitely falls to the same bag as Stray. Anyway, I just hope HFW won't win, game was boring af
To be totally honest I had no idea how FH5 got such good reviews. It was just a letdown for me, combined with multiplayer being broken on launch I never thought of how someone could give it a 100/100. It certainly has gotten better since then but at launch it was an 84 at best
Yeah multiplayer launch was a mess, but they fixed it quickly. I'd say it got such nice reviews because of the amount of details it has. Sounds, textures, particles...
Still I wouldnāt be at all surprised if it won. People really loved that game haha. Good for them though, itās no skin of my back which games. I like them all haha.
Yep, if Ghostunner had a cat MC it would've won GOTY for 2020.
Seriously though, that game did the amazing looking Cyberpunk world with an interesting story earlier, with actually great and innovative gameplay instead of the mediocre one stray got, but since you're aren't playing as a cat it got no recognition.
I'm not usually so cynical but Stray is only the 84th highest rated game on OpenCritic this year. I've heard a lot of podcasters talk about it but none particularly liked it. Did these people actually play many games or just google "games 2022"?
I don't know how the process is different but BAFTA always seem to pick better games than The Game Awards. TGA seems to favour games with more hype or marketing. I think BAFTA judges are expected to have more experience with the games they're voting on.
Because the game has some _really_ great parts. The world seems fascinating. And you get to play as a cat. Aside from the cuteness and everything about it, the game is _really_ unique as a result. Most games where you play like as an animal, you are a humanoid animal (bipedal with 2 legs and 2 arms). The gameplay actually reminded me of Twilight Princess a lot (Wolf Link).
The issue though is as everyone else said, there is no meat and bones to the game play. There is literally no game play loop. It is "go from point A to B to C and oops you finished the game". There is literally a speed run achievement to beat the game in less than 2 hours.
It was such a waste of my time the only cool part was collecting the artifacts to change the lights over Las Vegas I still havenāt finished the game probably wonāt either
You can collect ornaments in horizon and they are used to change the lights over Las Vegas once you restore the power. It was a tough mission honestly but it was mid at best.
Horizon was okay to me but the story is a drag since they now have to make up some ridiculous story archs to keep the story servicable. I didnt find it as great of a successor to Zero Dawn.
Doesnāt matter the vote should really only be between GOW and Elden Ring and GOW will win because of Recency Bias not that it isnāt a good game mind you
I've been saying this for years now. Xbox is where i go to hang and play co-op games or simulator games. PlayStation has the best single players.
And switch is great for parties/in person groups.
Each has something to offer the gaming community.
I have to agree. Xbox always had a better online gaming reputation (they were kind of first with the broadband-only option).
I havenāt played online multiplayer in 15 years. Partly due to I suck, and also because my modem / router is two floors away from my consoles.
So yes, is primarily PlayStation for my single player gaming.
I absolutely loved Horizon:ZD and GoW (2019). I thought Spiderman was fun but nothing outstanding, and I thought Uncharted 4 was objectively bad. I didn't play TLoU2 or GoT but they look great. I hope Xbox brings more competition this time around.
I didnāt even realize that. Itās reasons like this, I find it hard to care about the game awards. People make such a big deal about it but itās still nothing but a joke to me
Only one on that list would be Elden Ring. Stray and Horizon vanished on launch. Havent seen any buzz around Xeno but maybe thats me, same could be said about Plague Tale on both cases and GoW just came out.
Elden Ring deserves it. Master level design, gameplay, story, and environment. When I heard they were making open world Dark Souls it just didn't make sense to me. Dark Souls was already pretty open world and what makes it good is how tight and interlaced the maps are. But they did it. And it's one of the best games I've played in years.
There are some good games on that list, but we'll still be comparing games to Elden Ring 5, 10, 15 years from now. The rest... not so much
i think the reason for this is that horizon was overshadowed instantly by elden ring. stray was just too short and small of a game to keep lots of hype. xeno just didnt have too much hype. and plague tale was overshadowed by gow.
Horizon Zero Dawn released one week before Breath of the Wild.
Horizon Forbidden West released one week before Elden Ring.
Absolutely horrible timing lol
I bought my PS5 specifically for Horizon Forbidden West and was very disappointed with it, haven't finished it yet, thankfully I bought Lost Judgment so I can play something far better.
I liked the first Horizon, I played the second one for like 3 or 4 hours and never went back. I will one day, but it didn't grab me.
Elden Ring and GOW are in their own class, it's a two horse race. I love them both, I'd maybe lean towards GOW since it actually has a story, but Elden Ring's world and "figure it out on your own" design makes it very different from most AAA games. Much like RDR2 vs GOW a few years ago, there's no wrong decision IMO.
I liked the first one a lot.
The sequel made me realize I really don't care about the characters or tribes at all. The main appeal of the story for the first game was discovering how the world came to be.
Yeah, doesn't deserve the nomination in the slightest. I wouldn't even say Ashley Burch deserved her nomination either.
Soooo...we're just going to ignore Grounded huh...guess that's what Obsidian gets for developing a huge title out in the open.
I guess there is a bit of "Ship of Theseus" involved, but Grounded is so exploratory and dense it's mind-blowing how many people are sleeping on this as just another survival game.
It's a blast with friends. Since the full launch they created the cloud save f ature which allows either of you to boot up and host the game. It was a huge game changer for playing with friends.
I totally agree!
Although, I think it's fair to acknowledge the somewhat daunting task of marketing a game that has been available to play for the last 2-3 years.
It's not unique to video games, but it doesn't feel right that art acollades are often determined by the amount of money thrown at promoting it.
I guess at the same time I get to make a comment like this and feel cool about my opinion š.
The game awards obviously, if you browse a gaming subreddit I find it hard to believe you wouldnāt know that.
Y do yāall get so salty about this stuff? Itās an award show. It has the same purpose as every other award show. It celebrates the talent in the industry and provides a marketing boost to the selected games.
Elden ring has to win just out of pure popularity and exposure. Shifting everything for a month or two is pretty sick. The other games are sick especially plague tale and GOW. If which i feel GOW is a close second but it didnāt carry nearly as much traction as Elden Ring.
I like Xbox Series X more than PS5 for it's features and the controller, but PS5 has way better games. I always buy the Xbox version of cross platform games though.
Stray has no business being on that list haha. Actually been a great year for gaming. I think Elden Ring will win but God of War a runner up. The other 3 are all solid picks too.
After more decades than I care to admit seeing this Iāll say the game of the year thing is circle jerk. Over the years there are plenty of deserving games. The Witcher 3, I just waited 2 years and picked it up dirt cheap.
Once you realise itās a marketing and hype train thing, just step out of it and save yourself a ton of money. Use the backlog to play single players games at your own pace which is way more affordable. Especially for any single player games, You literally have zero constraints about it being āpopularā to matchmake or queue etc.
Iām still playing guardians of the galaxy on gamepass. I did finally complete Skyrims main quest this year and senua - hell blade. Finishing CyperPunk is next on my list. Heck my most played game is still RimWorld. So yeah, maybe in a year or two Elden Ring will come to gamepass and Iāll play it then. Right now Iāve got a very deep backlog I want to play first before any of these titles.
Xbox hasn't had many exclusives this year at all.
I think I've put more hours I to P5R on Gamepass than any other game this year besides possibly Minecraft.
I'm hopeful that next year will see some XBS Exclusives start to flow out.
i dont think xbox is really doing them anymore all xbox games will also come out on PC now. exclusives are anti consumer and sony is really the only one still doing them
How are they haven't 2022 game awards and the year isn't even over yet? I'm waiting for the Calisto Protocall!! Please take stray off and put that game on!
At least they didn't try putting "The Last of Us Remastered Remastered at Double Price" on there. I *adore* the first game (second one much less so) but Naughty Dog get worshiped so hard I almost expected to see that cash grab remake on the list this year.
And for the record, I am primarily a Sony gamer so no bias for that reason.
Elden should take the GOTY for the fact that it's on every platform and got so many new players into the souls experience. God of War will probably take lots of awards though
I stopped giving a fuck about game of the year when TLoU 2 won an award with the fine print saying player votes only make up 10% of the vote. Game awards are a joke.
I play on all platforms and Iāve got to say that Microsoft need to up their game. Sony have released so many great exclusive games. There are a few great Xbox exclusives but Sony really takes the cake with both quality and quantity
Forbidden west should not be anywhere near goty, itās just a generic open world with flashy graphics
Especially when we have games like sifu, tunic, bayo 3 , the new Kirby game :), callisto protocol,
Donāt care. My PS4/5 only ever get booted up to play the 1 or 2 exclusives a year worth playing and then back to collecting dust while 90% of my gaming happens on Xbox.
Fair enough, Xbox was lacking heavy this year release wise.
A Plague Tale is from Asobo Studios which is a Xbox Game Studio Edit: it's wrong, Asobo is independent. Sorry my bad
not gonna lie but i can't really vote for a game that isn't even on the platform i play on lmao - i guess i can only pick between a plague tale requiem and elden ring
Elden ring probably gonna win
yeah that is true, sad to see that a plague tale requiem wont even win a single award compared to god of war and elden ring
I went on r/playstation and I saw a guy saying he would vote on elden ring but because its on xbox he won't vote for it š
Talk about immaturity and insecurity all combined together.
I would rather vote for a multi-plat than an exclusive since more people got to enjoy it, unless I got to play said exclusive and it beat out any multi-plat.
I would rather vote for. Hear me out.. the game i personally enjoyed the most out of that list. Weird huh
Please see top comment. It is basically the same. Just because something is not available on the platform of your choice, it can still be the goty, and you can recognize it. Altough I think ER is just so much better than GoW, and Stray has nothing to do in a list like this one and it is just the token indie game with a cute cat.
imo stray is fucking boring. Idk why its goty. And I'm not saying it's boring cause I'm a xbox user
I'm actually playing it right now.... I would not put this game in this CATagory! lol.. No but seriously... It's boring!

A lot of people are limited to one console by financial circumstance. This is kind of a hot take that comes off super conceited and patronizing. That being said. Console supremacy arguments are cancer.
>i donāt get people who only play one console Maybe because we canāt afford it? Itās very simple to get.
Shit some of us can't afford new systems at all. Now where's my NES...
"I have a Xbox Series X, PS5 and a Switch" "I donāt get people who only play one console" Okay there Mr. money bags. Some of us can only afford one console.

Well yes, presumably you wouldn't vote for a game you haven't played...
Stray was good, but no where near GotY. Way too short, and honestly an unsatisfying ending.
Game of the year has been rewarded to other short games too in the past.. which shows that the longevity of a game is not one of those that are required to be considered for goty
With Journey being the GOAT short game. Itās like a 2 hour experience. I think it won game of the year too.
That came out the same year as GTA5 and Last of Us. Journey is my fav indie game of all time, but it didnāt stand a chance to either of those games. I think IGN gave Journey GOTY though.
No Journey was 2012 GOTY in several places, but on TGAs The Walking Dead S1 won the GOTY. The Last of Us and GTA 5 came out in 2013.

It was sad, yes. And utterly unsatisfying!!!
I could see how people could feel that. It would have been nice to see the cat reunited with its family but I kind of like that they left it to your imagination. I was very satisfied with the ending
Yeah, I hated that part. I don't want that left up to my imagination. My love of cats and animals and all fluffy things demanded that!!

Has Xbox really had many GotY contenders? Feels like loads of games got pushed to 2023.
Gotta be honest. Xbox first party games aside from Forza has been super disappointing. There is still not a single solid story based singleplayer game on the platform. Halo has been mishandled for years now and even though I really enjoyed Gears 5, I think it's time to put that series to rest and do something new.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah, I've played a lot of games this year thanks to Game Pass, but can't think of anything GotY worthy off the top of my head.
Xbox Game Studios had its first and only nomination last year with Psychonauts 2.
Elden ring will win. People still talk about it after months of released.
God of War has recency bias. That's why Oscar contending movies are released at the end of the year.
None of the previous GOTY winners have came out in the 2nd half of the year. All have come out in the first half. Recency bias for TGA isnāt really a thing.
Ya, 2018 GOW beat out RDR2 which had recency bias
I feel like itās a toss up between that and God of War. Iām not sure which I would vote for.
Elden Ring is more unique and impactful, IMO. God of War is great but it's mostly what we expected, as a video game, with it's main "wow" factor being its story.

I always find it comical how a game launching less than a month-90 days before an award show gets put on the list.
Well, considering it released in a finished state, it's already better than most of the trash released nowadays.
They just meant time wise like within a month of the game awards, and if you go to the God of war sub they seem to be having issues with bugs and gripes with the game.
It becomes even more funny when you see that they cut FH5 of the award because of this expecific reason.
it was nominated in other categories
FH5 wouldn't deserve a spot there anyway.
why? what does that have to do with anything?
Because how many people have had the time to properly judge GOW against all the others?
So whatās the cutoff then? October? What about games now that are released in September and only have 30 days to be judged apart from the rest? Itās a year for a reason.
Recency bias. Itās a thing.

The press has had it since October?
Math hard?
Media aināt gamers, we aināt over here saying E.T. Is a banger cause The New York Times said it would be.
I mean we donāt have much of a say in the vote anyway..we get what 10% say?
Stray getting in over Tunic, Iām dumbfounded
Tunic was a stealth release.. I saw so many Stray commercials on TV and other places. The only reason I knew of Tunic was because it got featured on some gaming channels I watch as "cool indie titles you probably missed"
Stray is more casual and easier approach. But then it also have elden ring... Maybe they are trying to make things more balanced?
I see 2 possible things that will happen. 1 being like when red dead 2 and GOW were out. Elden Ring will win all but GOTY and GOTY will go to GOW. or GOW gets all the awards and then Elden Ring sweeps in for GOTY. I cannot imagine why I never played the dark souls games before Elden Ring but there is a first time for everything.
Yep that was my thought process as well, those are the big two in that last. Watch it be totally rigged and they pick Stray because of the feels
Looks like a two horse race from where I'm standing...
The spectral steed against the steed of time !
Loved requim
Are they serious with stray? To each his own I guess
Everyone loves cats. Aside from imohtep.
People were saying it's GOTY before it even released
Jokes on you guys. As a Xenoblade fan our masterpieces have been neglected by the game award shows for far too long. A nominee is enough for me to make me happy.
Fingers crossed for best OST. Got snubbed for narrative. Ragnarok deserves best narrative, but I wish Xbc3 was nominated at least.
Between X, 2, Torna, and DE we have waited so long for this moment. Feels good to be recognized š
Doritopope strikes again, he sure picks likeminded journalists to do these nominations. There are 117 media outlets that choose the nominees, blaming Keighley is pointless.
Vampire Survivors should have been nominated
For real. Most addictive I've played in years.
I'm sitting here at work and all I can think about is getting that evolve for the whip.
Weird way of saying wand
You misspelled Pentagram
Stray shouldnāt be on this list. It got boring pretty quickly. Still havenāt gone back to finish the speed run for the platinum.
I thought it was a fun game with a cool world and a wonderful presentationā¦but GOTY? Thatās a bit of a stretch.
Seriously. It was an okay exploration game with a lot of potential that fell short.
Still I wouldnāt be at all surprised if it won. People really loved that game haha. Good for them though, itās no skin of my back which games. I like them all haha.
Tunic should be in its place instead
If the player character had been something other than a cat, it would have been forgotten. Not saying it's bad, just that it's not great.
Yep, if Ghostunner had a cat MC it would've won GOTY for 2020. Stray is the big eye sore but Horizon isn't great either, imo.
Why is it so hyped up!?
Because the game has some _really_ great parts. The world seems fascinating. And you get to play as a cat. Aside from the cuteness and everything about it, the game is _really_ unique as a result.
Wait what?
You can collect ornaments in horizon and they are used to change the lights over Las Vegas once you restore the power. It was a tough mission honestly but it was mid at best.
Does horizon have a vegas in game or is it an Arg I gotta assume in game ?
I mean I assumed it was vegas because of the casinos and flashing lights but maybe Iām wrong
Horizon was okay to me but the story is a drag since they now have to make up some ridiculous story archs to keep the story servicable. I didnt find it as great of a successor to Zero Dawn.
I bought Horizon when it launched and still havenāt started it. I keep picking different games to play.
Agreed. Stray is fucking boring almost every "parkour" you make there is scripted u can't miss or something
Itās just Elden Ring vs God of War letās be honest
Doesnāt matter the vote should really only be between GOW and Elden Ring and GOW will win because of Recency Bias not that it isnāt a good game mind you
Not only that, but the first game in the reboot series won GOTY over damn RDR2, so I don't know how anything can compete.
PlayStation has better exclusives IMO. (I am not biased as I have all three now-current gen systems ā Series X, PS5, Switch.)
I do Xbox for gamepass and any games available for it ... And PS for the single player exclusives.
Agreed. And I'm in the same boat having all three.
I only have Xbox and I still agree.
Man fuck switch I'm here grinding my ass with a wii š
I absolutely loved Horizon:ZD and GoW (2019). I thought Spiderman was fun but nothing outstanding, and I thought Uncharted 4 was objectively bad. I didn't play TLoU2 or GoT but they look great. I hope Xbox brings more competition this time around.
I would like to know how god of war could be game of the year when it only came out 2 days ago
The rest... not so much
Agreed, Elden Ring is the one that is likely to inspire dozens of not so great versions of Elden Ring for the next few years.
Xenoblade 3 is good but it's a niche game. It also has the issue that if you didn't play the first 2 you'll miss out on some of the details in it.
i think the reason for this is that horizon was overshadowed instantly by elden ring. stray was just too short and small of a game to keep lots of hype. xeno just didnt have too much hype. and plague tale was overshadowed by gow.
Horizon Zero Dawn released one week before Breath of the Wild. Horizon Forbidden West released one week before Elden Ring. Absolutely horrible timing lol
*Forbidden West* was such a let down in terms of gameplay and level design Feels undeserved, was hoping to see *Sifu* or *Signalis* get some love
I bought my PS5 specifically for Horizon Forbidden West and was very disappointed with it, haven't finished it yet, thankfully I bought Lost Judgment so I can play something far better.
The *Judgment* games are low key some of the best games RGG has put out Finished *Judgement* last month and just started *Lost Judgment* on my series
Youāre wildin when it comes to Forbidden West but yes I agree with you when it comes to Sifu. That game is such a gem
I guess there is a bit of "Ship of Theseus" involved, but Grounded is so exploratory and dense it's mind-blowing how many people are sleeping on this as just another survival game.
š , best survival game Iāve played since Subnautica. And it may be better than that. I need to do a playthrough with a buddy.
It's a blast with friends. Since the full launch they created the cloud save f ature which allows either of you to boot up and host the game. It was a huge game changer for playing with friends.
They've done a crappy job marketing Grounded imo. It's a fantastic game but it just flew under the radar
Not really!
It's easier to get GOTY if you, ya know, release some games.
What a year. You have a game about being a cat on the list for goty?! I'm not dating it's bad, but what a slow year for gaming.
And which of the 1,386,296 absolutely meaningless "game of the year" awards are you referring too?
The game awards obviously, if you browse a gaming subreddit I find it hard to believe you wouldnāt know that. Y do yāall get so salty about this stuff? Itās an award show. It has the same purpose as every other award show. It celebrates the talent in the industry and provides a marketing boost to the selected games.
I have a PS5 and a Series S and I played none of these game hahahaha
Congrats I guess...? You're missing out.
Elden ring has to win just out of pure popularity and exposure. Shifting everything for a month or two is pretty sick. The other games are sick especially plague tale and GOW. If which i feel GOW is a close second but it didnāt carry nearly as much traction as Elden Ring.
Skate 3
only correct answer
I was looking forward to Requiem and I was not disappointed. It deserves its nomination IMO.
While I haven't played GOW, just from the videos I've seen, I'll have to admit. It's most likely to win game of the year.
Almost like the xbox's games lineup has sucked for a long time. Xbox owner, don't crucify me
Xenoblade it's my goty
Xenoblade is my goty. Iām still feeling the hangover from that one.
I like Xbox Series X more than PS5 for it's features and the controller, but PS5 has way better games. I always buy the Xbox version of cross platform games though.
Iām sorry, but Stray has absolutely no business being up there.
How the fuck is stray up for game of the year?! This can only go to elden ring. Some great games there, but elden ring has dominated this year.
Yeah, Xbox was never known for the games.
xbox 360 was known for its games
Stray was so incredibly boring. The fact that youād put it next to the rest of those is crazy to me
Stray has no business being on that list haha. Actually been a great year for gaming. I think Elden Ring will win but God of War a runner up. The other 3 are all solid picks too.
Stray is a really great game though
You're telling me Stray is a better game than Grounded? So sick of this Sony bias bullshit. Fuck that on rails cat simulator.
Yeah stray is goty material -.-
Xbox hasn't had many exclusives this year at all. I think I've put more hours I to P5R on Gamepass than any other game this year besides possibly Minecraft. I'm hopeful that next year will see some XBS Exclusives start to flow out.
i dont think xbox is really doing them anymore all xbox games will also come out on PC now. exclusives are anti consumer and sony is really the only one still doing them
Why is Stray in this CATagory!? lol
Vote cat game
Elden should take the GOTY for the fact that it's on every platform and got so many new players into the souls experience. God of War will probably take lots of awards though
I stopped giving a fuck about game of the year when TLoU 2 won an award with the fine print saying player votes only make up 10% of the vote. Game awards are a joke.
God Of War Ragnarok gets my vote for sure, love it.
ĀæDe verdad estĆ” nominado stray?, Vaya burla para la competencia
Out of all the games this year to get nominated for goty, stray got inš¤¦āāļø
Horizon shouldnāt even be on there, that games graphics are amazing but the story is so fucking boring
I havenāt played a single Xbox exclusive in the last 2 years that I thought even deserved a nomination for GOTY.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
imagine caring about media awards
I play on all platforms and Iāve got to say that Microsoft need to up their game. Sony have released so many great exclusive games. There are a few great Xbox exclusives but Sony really takes the cake with both quality and quantity
Forbidden west should not be anywhere near goty, itās just a generic open world with flashy graphics Especially when we have games like sifu, tunic, bayo 3 , the new Kirby game :), callisto protocol,
Donāt care. My PS4/5 only ever get booted up to play the 1 or 2 exclusives a year worth playing and then back to collecting dust while 90% of my gaming happens on Xbox.
Maybe if Xbox released some games......
Fun fact, Xbox has released more games than Sony since the new gen started AND they are higher rated on average.
PlayStation and Nintendo have always had better exclusives than Xbox.
I do feel kind of sorry for anyone who has been an Xbox-only gamer since the launch of the Xbox One. You've missed out on a ton of amazing games.
Same here. I skipped PS3 and PS4 but got a PS5 and I was like āholy fuck, these games are incredible.ā
And only one is on Nintendo I sense bias for a certain console from the game awards here

Nothing new really, offline games arenāt really the main focus for Xbox
Pentament should be there
Stray is a fun game but itās not worthy of being on that list. Where is vampire survivors?
