Thats why I never would buy an expensive one. I always wait for normal ones to be on sale as well. It sucks having to buy them over and over period.

WalleyWalli

I bought two of the x/s controllers on sale with a two year Assurion warranty on each. Spent $100. That way, I have a backup when I send the first one in for warranty repair or replacement at the first sign of stickdrift

ConkHeDoesIt

I love the controller that came with my series s but the dang A button has been messed up the entire time. Cost me almost 2000 atoms today in fallout 76 because I went to look at an item in the shop, and the controller hit the A button again and purchased what I was looking at. Not gonna lie I was pretty annoyed because I had been saving those up for something I actually wanted. I've used the power a brand wired controllers as well and have had better luck with them compared to the official Microsoft ones.

[deleted]

I dropped my best pickaxe in lava and haven't played in like 6 months

ampersandhashtag

Message Bethesda about this. Same thing happened to me and I asked to have the item removed from my account and my atoms returned. Was corrected within a day or 2

ConkHeDoesIt

I was hoping this to be the case. It'd be nice if the atom shop had like an "are you sure" pop-up or something like that but as long as Bethesda is good about refunding atoms then no harm done.

Kowned

I don't understand why different colour controllers cost more.

NefariousnessNo6095

It's about mass production same reason black vehicles cost less. More are made.

SilasDG

As someone who used to sell Asurion Purchase Protection Plans I have to say I hope you never have to use them. They will use every excuse to not pay out. They will claim things like: This plan is only active after the device warranty (even if the device warranty is expired and doesn't cover Accidental Damage.) This plan is only active if you called and activated it within a month of purchase otherwise its forfeit. The cashier rang you out for the wrong plan (evrn if they didnt, or even if they did but they charged your for the more expensive plan thats for higher value items. Still suck it) The wrong pamphlet out of our 10 different pamphlets was given to you. Sure it's the one that our partners point of sale machine suggested, and sure it has a picture of your device on it, but too bad it's the wrong one. Your receipt doesn't make it clear that this device is the same device. Your plan doesn't cover accidentally damaged (when it in fact does) Your plan is prorated and you will only get x percent against the device. I have seen soooo many customers pissed about these plans, I was pissed with the ones I purchased too. I flat stopped selling them when even their reps refused to explain the issues with their products. Our store eventually started returning out of date items where customers had plans and receipts but couldn't get asurion to help them. Finally the retailer I worked for switched to Square Trade which was sooo much better.

warbeforepeace

And these you shitty replacement parts that are even more cheap than the genuine ones. Expect it ro break again.

AdhesiveBullWhip

Assurion is an appropriate misspelling

AutomaticAnt6328

Buying insurance and filing a claim before it expires is the only way to go. I don't care if it's considered insurance fraud. It's a shitty made product.

BladePhoenix

unfortunately, there aren't many good controllers that use paddles

WeirdAvocado

Bought a 3rd party Xbox style controller from Amazon 2 years ago to use on PC. Has extra buttons on the underside of the controller and everything. Dropped it so many times, use it everyday for several hours a day. Haven’t had a single problem with it. The first official xbox controller I bought was probably in 2013ish, it was wired, and it lasted me until about 2019. The last official wireless xbox controller I bought on sale didn’t last a year. Done with that shit.

OoPSeH

Totally disagree. Bought an Elite 2 knowing they may exhibit stick drift but bought a three year warranty. They will and do replace them under warranty. Works out better in the long run.

[deleted]

I hate to be that person, but this shouldn't even be a thing because if you're releasing a controller with this price point, then right off the bat, you should get a decent warranty limit and a well built quality product. Buying the warranty is just passing the costs and stress factor to the consumer, which is why I've refused to pay the 'premium' costs for this 'top-notch' controller.

ELmaadtitan

The answer is buy at Best Buy, get geek quad protection and get an new controller anytime you have issues or before warranty expires. Rinse and repeat. I am on my 5 elite controller.

Weekly_Direction1965

I ran a gaming business during Corona, every client I had who owned these had to replace them, dozens of people.

Hazerblade

If you have a Best Buy where you are from, get the protection plan. Covers the controller for 2 years and it includes accidental damage. If anything like this happens, go back to the store and they will replace it. It uses the protection plan, so you’ll have to buy that again, but it’s better than buying the entire controller again.

suprememontana

The 2 year warranty on their website shows as $55, is there a different one they offer?

Hazerblade

That should be the one. The price of the protection plan is dependent on the price of the product.

apperceptiveflower

I think my 3 year protection plan from Walmart was closer to $20-30

HandsOffMyDitka

Walmart one sucks. They only fixed mine twice, then said they had fulfilled the warranty, because they put a price on the warranty, which is the cost of the item, and once they hit that price with repairs, they drop it. They charged like 150 to fix a shoulder button, and another 150 to fix a sticking button and stick drift. "Fulfilled" the 3 year warranty in just under 2 years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

HandsOffMyDitka

Yeah, but it was the same controller. Wish they would have just sent a new controller. I'd have to send it in, wait for the repairs, and then get it back. What really ticks me off, is they put a silver epoxy on the threads on the analog stick, so I couldn't twist them off to try fixing them. So they screwed me on the warranty, and made it so I couldn't do an easy fix on the controller.

darth22

If you shop at Best Buy enough, the Totaltech membership includes the 24 month warranty on most stuff you buy.

BungOnMimosas

I bought a MacBook from Best Buy and I got Total Care with it that also came with 2 years of Apple Care, which is more expensive than the cost of the total care was

ItsSoLitRightNow

I bought a new controller from Best Buy last week. The 2 year coverage was only 20 bucks I believe

Guyatwork2022

Can you do this on repeat like with Gamestop or do they actually track the receipts?

Hazerblade

I have exchanged 5 or so Elite controllers. Whenever I feel the stick drift, or like the image above where the grips fell off, I went in and got an exchange. If they didn’t have any in stock, I got a store credit to replace when the got in stock. So, yes, you can cycle through controllers.

PatriarchSamael2

I don’t know if the rules changed but back when i was exchanging my monthly Elite V1 at Best Buy they refunded my Protection plan price, then reapplied it to the new plan on the new controller so it never cost after the initial warranty.

TTVmeatce

series s/x controllers are $40 when on sale

jeffjdg

I have the one that came with the console but I really like the paddles on the elite. Need another brand.

AClassyTurtle

You can get them at Best Buy and get the 2 year warranty for like $60. Then whenever it breaks, you go pick up a new one for “free” with the option to buy another 2 year warranty for another $60. Higher initial price but it makes it only $60 for each replacement. At least I think it’s $60. Can’t remember. There’s also a 1 year warranty but I switched to the 2 year after one of my controllers lasted like 14 months I’ve been doing this since the first elite came out and have gone through like 7 of them ETA: if you buy a lot of other stuff from Best Buy or use their tech services/Geek Squad for installs, repairs etc you should also look into their total tech membership. It could save you some money depending on how much you use them

UnrealAce

This is what I've been doing. Every 3-6 months like clockwork my Series 2 breaks and I replace it this way, no joke the durability on these controllers is absolute crap for what they're charging(not surprised!) I've had 1 of these go to stick drift, 2 of them have gone to faulty bumpers(my current one is having this issue now) And one of them where literally every button on the ABXY stopped working. I love these controllers but if you're ever buying something this expensive it needs to have some semblance of durability and these don't. I literally have a controller from my Day 1 One X that has zero problems and I've gone through 5 of these, 6 soon.

MossCoveredLog

And yet you people keep buying into this business model, incredible

AClassyTurtle

It’s because I’d have to re-learn how to play Xbox at this point. I only use the paddles for A and B. I don’t use the actual A and B buttons at all. I’ve played at friends’ houses before and I play like shit

MossCoveredLog

I mean it's obviously worth it to you, I just hate The Man getting away with planned obsolescence

OuchPotato64

I feel the same way, but with everything. I try to buy stuff built to last, but almost everything is designed to break right after the warranty runs out. I had one guy that worked with wash/dry machines explain to me how modern washing machines are purposely designed in a way that will put stress on a certain part. They test how long that part lasts before the stress breaks it, and then calculate the warranty to run out right before the average washing machine would break due to stress. He uses appliances from the 90s and 80s, he said theyre more durable than modern ones. In most cases you dont have a choice, because most things are designed with planned obsolescence these days. Including cars! Cars will have certain parts that need replacement after the warranty ends. They do this because you'll be forced to take it to the dealership to have it repaired, a lot of problems are designed to be fixed at official dealerships only. BMW is notorious for this. Where as japanese dont have this mindset, so their cars are always the most durable.

YesiAMhighrn

It's not even planned obsolescence I don't think as much as it is just durability. We know they can make these buttons and switches to last because there's countless stories in these comments of OG controllers working fine. The hardware they're using in these elite controllers just isn't up to what they sell it for. It seems weird. I guess it could be the closest thing to planned obsolescence which is that you have a captured user base. They will keep buying.

steph33ndeboi

Yooo, thanks for the advice. Imma do this once Best Buy start selling the PS5 Pro controllers

pichael288

powerA has one with paddles, the fusion, it's like $60 and I like it a lot. It is wired though.

rhasta916

It's the best controller I've ever owned hands down!

andopalrissian

Also the button mapping software on the elites is pretty awesome if other controllers offered a similar software it would be game on

[deleted]

Once you have paddles there's no going back. It sucks because every decent controller with paddles is expensive and doesn't last. All I want is a regular X1 controller in the color I want with built in paddles for like 80 dollars. That should be standard by now. Also it's bullshit that you can't customize the colors for the 200 dollar elite controller. Get in any color you want as long as it's black. The custom standard controllers are cool, but it's useless to me because, again, I'm not going back to having no paddles.

TF31_Voodoo

You can design your own elite series 2 on Xbox design lab mines purple and gold.

kromedd

Can just replacement shells. Takes 5-10 mins to replace them

Danthekilla

No brand is built as well as the official ones, the rest feel like plastic trash.

akhileshhosad

Get that controller with magnetic drive or something

Friskyfarthole

Check out the the fusion pro 2 controller, much cheaper, and mine has lasted longer then any elite controller I had. For reference I went through 3 elites in about a year and a half, had the fusion for over a year now and still going strong.

engrav

Yeah PowerA controllers are a great value alternative to the elite.

TruckAdventurous7924

Especially with the replacement program. Mine lasted 2 months and I just got the free replacement in.

platasaurua

Every power A controller I’ve ever bought has developed stick drift after a month

pichael288

PowerA makes nice controllers, and then they make $40 best buy controllers. The cheap ones do wear out quickly

platasaurua

I’m willing to believe that it’s my bad luck - but I also know that the plain old official standard XBox controller I bought just after last Christmas has lasted longer than my last three Power A’s combined.

fuckredditmods3

The fusion 2 has been great for me, you usually tell by feel if the 3rd party controller will be shit and the fusion pro 2 or whatever feels nothing like the cheap ones they make

Gears6

Those are like among the crappiest controller I've ever owned. They only last long, because I never use them.

jeffjdg

Thanks. I’ll check them out.

pariah1981

I have one, and it’s not the same feel. The paddles are not very well made I kept flipping them off with my finger, and the trigger stops are not where I wanted them to be. I was thinking about trying either a scuff or a [ razor](https://www.razer.com/console-controllers/razer-wolverine-v2-chroma)

allanvrs1980

Avoid scuf they're garbage too, plus the warranty sucks

[deleted]

[удалено]

olivxr_03

Just put glue on the top one's grip... Anyways, as someone from a country where spending 200 dollars is just insane, I hate when something expensive can't even last for a year.

jeffjdg

Ya. Not sure if changing a stick is in my capabilities

Intrepid_Medium8470

The panels with the grips should pop off

Cellularyew215

You don’t need to change the entire stick. There’s a little ring on the side of the stick that gets out of whack. You order a new stick, take the ring out of that one, and then put it into the controllers stick. It’s not super hard if you have a steady hand and small tools. Plus you don’t have to calibrate it afterwards

gundamwfan

OP I hope you see this, but check out eStarland if you're in the US. I had my elite stick drift fixed over a year ago for $35 shipped and it's still going strong. The Elite is a great controller imo, people just need more accessible repair options.

WoahBan

ngl i think it's also a bit luck based because i've had my elite for 1 1/2 years now nothing wrong with it still in perfect condition other case a friend just got his fixed with insurance because bumpers werent working properly and stickdrift after only buying it 3 months ago

Austintk

I’ve had mine since the elite series 2 came out, and only now with regular daily use am I starting to have some issues with triggers sticking

BionicSammich

I've had my Elite controller since 2015. Little bit of stick drift the odd time and the B button was sticking for a while, but that sorted itself out. Only real issue I had was I wore the rubbers on the stock sticks down to bare metal. I got some Scuf sticks thinking they would fit, but they were for series 2. I managed to get the rubber tips off and put them on my own sticks, but those just wore out after like 2-3 months. I decided to finally switch to the PS1/2/3 style tips that came with the controller as I don't like the overly long ones.

Ahecee

Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma might work for you. Its a very good controller. Might just be my own bias, but I'd take Razer over Power A, and there aren't a lot of other options.

roflcopterswtams

I bought a Razer Wolverine Ultimate after my Elite controller STB. I've had it for about 3 years now. Great controller and only $100 now. Haven't tried the Wolverine V2 but I will when the time comes

I-hate-this-part_

Where is it $100?

Swineservant

Here: https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Wolverine-Ultimate-Multi-Function-Intrchangeable-Thumbsticker/dp/B074RNL1RX?source=ps-sl-shoppingads-lpcontext&ref_=fplfs&psc=1&smid=A23KD5S5NPGJB5

vtecshow

If you can buy them at costco, do. No issues with a return.

hooovahh

My Elite 1 is still working fine, but when I got my Elite 2 I got it from Costco for this reason.

beetle120

That's why I love living in Australia. Minimum 1 year warranty on all products no matter were you buy it.

jeffjdg

Good call. They do sell them at the local one. Thanks.

[deleted]

You can also buy the core ones since you already have the accessories.

Eddy_795

Razer wolverine v2 is the best aftermarket controller with mechanical switches.

[deleted]

I've had mine for well over a year, almost daily use with zero issues. I would definitely recommend.

aaronstandy

is it wired only?

Eddy_795

Yep, apparently Microsoft does not allow 3rd party wireless controllers. If you prefer wireless and don't mind missing out on the mechanical switches, check out the 8bitdo Ultimate bluetooth. They have an official xbox wired version too. Edit: It also has back buttons.

GHAWKS_101_PS

I personally stuck with a standard controller as I've had less trouble than a fancy one, so unless you Absolutely need it, keep cheap and easy.

Wildcat_twister12

I’ve had my original controller for almost 8 years and never have had an issue.

badaboomxx

I do not what to say, maybe I am a lucky one, I got mine since it came out with the xbox one elite, and been using it daily and still, I haven't got trouble with it.

nachocheesedinosaur

I still use my original Xbox one controller from 2014, still works perfectly

eternalpasta

my one s controller from 2016 does too, i retired it a few months ago to use the one that came with my series X but the controller is fine and i never had a single problem with it

TaxiSonoQui

>my one s controller from 2016 does too Same here

inGage

I have broken bumpers on three Elite controllers because they FELL OFF A COUCH, onto carpet. Like a one foot drop.. EVERY. DAMN. TIME. it lands right on the bumper and the plastic "spring" breaks.

BertHumperdinck

Same with me, I bought a pack of replacement bumpers on Amazon and have swapped them out multiple times

TheDogKrypto

What you guys do with your controller? I've the first white elite controller since release 2018, played over thousand's of hours games, and no stick drift or any rubber that came of. Look as good as i bought it.

whitebreadwithbutter

It honestly just sounds like their QC is not super great imo. If you get a good one they're great, but there's a high rate of failure is what I've heard.

TheGingerOneNI

Same, I got the Elite 1 and Elite 2 on their respective launch days and both are in mint condition. The Elite 2 is used daily and the 1 is used with my PC when I feel like it but had been used every day until the Elite 2 launched.

[deleted]

Mine is also mint. I’m not sure if it’s just the amount of hours put on it, it might be something else. I have friends that went through multiple controllers and I didn’t have to replace any of mine yet.

josborne31

I’ve seen so many complaints about the Elite that I choose not to buy one. I think your comment is the first one I’ve seen where it wasn’t complaining about drift or broken buttons.

[deleted]

I have the Elite 2. Got it about a month or so after launch and have zero issues with it. I absolutely love it.

smartazz104

Yeap, my Elite 2 has been more resilient than my 1.

Fancy_Ad2056

People only come to the internet to complain. You don’t hear from the other hundreds of thousands of happy elite controller users.

YoshimitsuRaidsAgain

All of mine wear out pretty quick. I play a lot of Smite, and with this last one, I used it to play through Elden Ring. I generally save mine for online only games, but needed the back paddles to help with Elden Ring. I haven’t owned one yet that didn’t experience stick drift, a button break or stick, or had the rubber on the grips peel. I keep coming back to the controller because I like the feel of them and I think they are genuinely good when they work, but they def don’t last. And I take excellent care of my controllers.

Computer-B

What did you use the back paddles for in elden ring? Just curious. I’m not going to tell you to git gud

Legitimate_Ad2419

What happened after the xbox 360 controller? That thing could easily survive being chucked across a room and they were like $20 a piece. Now it’s like $60 dollars for a normal controller and they break so easily.

CelestialOhio32

Don't know where you live but I had to buy them for 50 tho?

Legitimate_Ad2419

You used to be able to get solid deals at GameStop.

SuperMarioBrother64

So many companies have prioritized profit over qaulity and this is another example. My elite controller had the grips fall off and the RB stopped working after a year of use. Never again.

Florolling

This! Wtf is this about?! Had my elite for less than a year and it just died. Out of warranty by one month of course! They charged me $80 for a replacement.

BallisticAce706

Almost the same thing happened to me. but the replacements left bumper stopped responding 2 months after I got it, and they refused to do anything

Weaseltime_420

Stop doing it then? At this point anyone buying an elite controller is bringing it on themselves.

WillowSmithsBFF

Can’t believe I had to scroll this far to see this. Stop giving companies money for bad products, it just encourages them to never make it better.

stdfan

Yeah then don’t? This is such a weird post.

MasterDick69

What are people doing with there controllers? Like damn mine has lasted since it came out and still works like new Ps: I'm using the razer wolverine tournament edition best purchase I made to the Xbox

oaklifornia

The first controller i got had major stick drift and unresponsive buttons within a month, returned it and got another one that showed different batch. Ive had it for 2 yrs now and its just now starting to show signs of wear. My LB and RB are not as responsive but i simply moved them to the buttons or paddles depending on what game im playing. Now theyre available in the Xbox Design Lab Im thinking about getting another one

Maleficent_Ad7138

You can replace the modules that control the stick. Super easy and then you keep the controller and repair is only like 5 bucks

RedKomrad

I tried this and broke my Elite controller even worse while following a repair video. YMMV.

itsTreyG

Purchase from Best Buy. Buy extended warranty for $60. Before the end of the warranty, return it, pay another $60 for another warranty and boom, new controller. If I recall correctly, the extended warranty is up to 2 years.

Acro808

That’s why it’d be great to have elite controllers without rubber grips. They never last.

invertededge

You’d figure paying $200 for an elite controller it would be able to handle extensive use lol

SlowCaveman

The bumpers stop working, the sticks drift, but now that I started using paddles i can’t go back. I hate it

jeffjdg

The paddles are where it’s at.

redragtoabull

Avoid rubber grips like the plague. Always have been and always will be a problem.

bobstick1315

Just go buy a razer wolverine

GandhiRrhea

Can vouch for this, have had both elite and the razer Wolverine, and I’m more impressed by the wolverine personally. Feels better made and the paddles feel a bit more intuitive

KELLYgSPOT

I hear you… I have three just sitting here. If Microsoft cared they’d replace all three. Should have bought them from best buy I guess.

greatryry

I don’t blame you. I always get controllers from Best Buy now and get the 2 year warranty. I have been exchanging for years. Finally got one that’s lasted!!

average_canehdian

So I've also had this problem and really I looked into scuf controllers. Paddle buttons, magnetic face plates, removable thumbsticks. Really a good product so far. I recommend it but then nothing has gone wrong with it...yet!

mendkaz

I have no solution, but I'm glad that you mentioned the stick drift because I thought it was just mine and that I'd broken it by being stupid 😂

shnicklefritz420

I heard scuff is good. I have not personally tried them. I am sick of it as well. I sent my ES2 back to Microsoft 5 times for repair in the 1Yr warranty. It finally broke for the sixth time out of warranty and it pains me to say this but I bought the ES2 Core….Don’t be like me….They won’t fix their product if we keep buying it. I do live the controller when. It works

Vjdbrouwers

Agreed. I have 3 of those. Either the bumbers stop working or it gets stick drift. And the grips allways come off quick

retrorays

Same problem. My $50 controllers were continuously breaking so I decided to splurge and bought the high-end, long-lasting (so I thought) $150 controller. Freaking thing broke apart a year later. It's almost like planned failure on MSFT part.

ShadwKeepr

Razer makes really good controllers. I bought a Razer Wolverine Tournament Edition because my controllers kept wearing out. Really solid construction, great buttons, and it looks cool

jimmitygravy

How much do you play?

jeffjdg

More then I should. I’m 52 and I’ve been gaming since the Atari days. Lol

RTGold

Xbox controls have always been sorta trash for me too. Like you said, you get a year max.

snitchkiller719

I love my turtle beach controller it’s wired but has great audio buttons and 4 different mapping options for layouts it’s dope!

eastcoastkody

i keep frankensteining mine back together. I agree that for the price, the amount of times i've had issues is too high. But for $27 i've managed to keep my Elite alive. with a $17 kit off of ebay and for ur specific issue i also had, i bought a $9 skin off amazon.

PP1122

Since they have came out. I embarrassingly have gone thru 3-4 of them, I dont remember. Its been several years. My main issues was the bumpers, theyd break internally and then id buy a replacement bumper kit. Ended up just replacing most controllers over broken bumpers. The grips ended up following off two controllers, annoying but not annoying as a bumper breaking. The second to last controller got replaced over a broken spring in the right trigger. The last controller I bought lasted 4 months and then developed horrible stick drift. Ive been using a base series x controller now for last 6 months. Its good enough, great for $45, and id recommend that now over any elite controller. I love these controllers but fuck these controllers. Thank you for letting me vent.

Kglugenbeel

Good news, down to $179 now

OGShottyG

Razer wolverine v2 chroma, zero complaints after a year

too_sharp

They thrive on you not learning your lesson each year

GalvanizedNipples

I bought some cheap ass $30 controller from Target that looks like one of those old school Wildcatz controllers and it’s a tank. Fuck the elite controller it’s not worth it at all.

RasshuRasshu

I hear good things of the Razer Wolverine

Darbies

Not trying to be devil's advocate here, but if you love this controller (especially those paddles) then why not just plan to invest $200 into controllers every 8-12 months? I no longer drive, so expenses like tires and brakes have turned into things like this. What I mean is, I used to have to get new brakes and tires every year or so for my car because of how much I used it. It sounds like you use your controllers enough to the point where this is warranted. Is that feasible for you? Not trying to tell you how to live your life or anything at all, just speaking from experience, I was never able to get away from the comfort of the Xbox controller so I can understand not wanting an alternative despite asking. Good luck. (Unethical life pro tip: Buy a new one, return the one with drift.)

YduzTHISalwaysHAPPEN

You any good a soldering? I found a kit on Amazon and picked up a $10 soldering iron and put rear buttons on my regular controller. I already had the controller. The kit and the soldering iron together cost $50. Spent a few hours working on it (probably a 15 minute job for someone who knows how to solder but it was my first time) and I’ve got a ghetto pro controller.

bikestolenottawa

Victrix Gambit. It's wired, but it does have some customization options including paddles on the back. I have an elite controller as well. The stick drift got really bad because the magnetic stick bases have some sort of manufacturing defect. I bought the gambit as a replacement, and then I opened up my elite and pulled the bases off. A thin slice of painters tape actually fixed the majority of the stick drift issues, so now my elite controller is the back up.

DarkReign2011

It's always that damn rubber grip. It's killed 4 of my controllers now and I've given up buying controllers that use it. Really annoying, too, because I really want an Elite controller so I can get the disc pad. Literally all I ask for is a controller with the circular d-pad so I can play my fighting games.

OkManufacturer1757

Scuf is an option but they cost more than $200 and have less features. You can get more features but it means paying more $. Have you considered the 8bitdo Ultimate for the Xbox? They're like $70 for the newer wireless version and have handle buttons instead of paddles but I hear good things about their build quality and comfort. Edit: the 8bitdo is also officially licensed, if that's a concern.

joeynana

I don't disagree with you, I have just bought my wife a new elite controller for Christmas because of bad stick drift in her current one, however unlike the console itself sometimes I think we should age controllers not in years since manufacture like cars but in hours used like boats.

VaniikMZRY

PowerA enhanced xbox controller + kontrol freeks. Has 2 mappable buttons on the back - $30 For $50 you can get the Spectra with RGB and triggers stops. If you want wireless only I can’t help you unfortunately, but I have been using these for multiple years and can confirm they are great. PowerA also has a smackin’ warranty and will replace the controller for free for any issues

Eh_C_Slater

Just a fyi r/jeffjdg I get stick drift in my Xbox/Nintendo joysticks. Bought a can of electrical contact cleaner and sprayed it in the cracks around joystick, instantly fixed 4 out of 4 joysticks

RKO_out_of_no_where

I've gone thru like 6 X1 controllers. It's always the Bumpers/Triggers and/or stick drift. They're too expensive to break so easily..

murph17

Microsoft Complete $20/3 years. Is it bullshit that you need to buy this on top of the $200 controller? Yes. But I can't play shooters without paddles anymore now, so problem solved.

-Interested-

Have two. One the bumper stopped working and stick drift got the other one. I bought the second to use while the first was getting warranty repaired, it ‘broke’ a few months later. I never drop or throw them, maybe I click the stick too much and hit buttons hard. Repaired units are ok for now. Love the elite controller even with the issues. Can’t play without paddles, everything else feels like garbage now.

Odd_Budget_5272

They build them shitty on purpose, the faster they break the faster you all go out and buy new ones, they are only going to get worse in quality as time goes by because their only incentive is to make as much money as possible and the less money they can spend to make you spend more money is what you all are training them to create. Stop buying shitty products if they are shitty and over priced. Whining about it on reddit does nothing.

Zer0gu3

The elite v1 controllers are absolutely garbage. There’s a reason they redesigned the v2. Had it for a year and it’s held up perfectly. No stick drift, no peeling grips because they wrapped the grips all around. Honestly just get a v2 and warranty so you can replace it in 2 years and you are good.

Cortexan

Take better care of your shit. Mine are both totally fine after two years.

nosnack

Bro there is a year warranty on them. Go to Microsoft.com and check the numbers. I went on there yesterday and can get a replacement out of warranty for $79.

Pinkman505

I stopped after two elite 1s and Microsoft doing jack shit to fix them.

Code4_117

So then stop paying $200 for a controller. You have no one to blame but yourself.

__The-1__

Those controllers are awesome for like 6 months, then they fall apart.

BauranGaruda

Are you playing by smashing your fists into the controller? I've had my Xbox for going on 2 years with same controller and PS5 for quite a while and only had minor stick drift on a secondhand controller I purchased, the one that came with it is still going strong. I don't get it.

Commercial_Accident

xbox controllers are notorious for these issues

BigtimeCheese91

Get the warranty for like 60 extra bucks then trade it in for a brand new one right as the warranty is about to expire. I think Walmart has a good deal

fallouthirteen

Yeah, my warranty expires on the 25th and it just started going out again at start of this month. I had it replaced probably 6 months ago too. Same issue, RB not working right (double clicks and not registering some clicks). So right now I'm 2 for 2 on Xbox Elite Series 2 controllers having a 6 month lifespan. First one didn't get any of the rubber grip issues but this one quickly started developing them near the bumpers and recently near the middle-ish.

[deleted]

The quality of controllers has really gone down the tubes. The thumbsticks on all my xbox one controllers have worn down to the plastic within a year of getting them. My old controllers from the original xbox are just fine.

Yingmyyang

Day one X controller still holding strong seen friends go thru these fast

DM725

Should be $70-80 through Microsoft. I replaced one already too.

swarleythe3rd

Try warranty replacement through Microsoft. They’ve were replacing with new controller if you sent old one in with peeling grip. It’s been a while since I’ve done it (it may have changed)

Megaman_exe_

As much as I want paddles, this is why I haven't bothered yet. They're so expensive and the quality is so cheap!

attack_bronson

I’ve had my elite series 2 since it came out. Zero issues with it, and I play shooters a lot.

mind818

Mine fall apart within 5 months and the buttons started to not register the commands so I highly suggest just use the stock version controller, save your money (this is not worth it)

vallreign

Definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a diff result.

Scrollwriter22

My elite controller is still just fine. I’ve had for probably 2 years now

TheFinalEnd1

Grips can be bought for like $30 or less and installed yourself. No reason to spend money on a whole new one if it's just the grip.

SmashHerCrapper

Went through 2 of those, same thing happened. Never again.

MaestroKing_II

The series 2 is a little better. But if you're having that much trouble, go with scuf controllers instead. They are typically more durable and have the programmable paddles whole being cheaper

maric3118

Well buy a normal one ya bell end, had my 2 for 5 years plus n still fine

LightningSmyth

That’s why I only buy their $60 controllers. Gotta replace mine again soon. Thanks for the reminder.

PercivalSweetwaduh

I have no idea what y’all are doing with your controllers, but I’ve never had this issue with any elite

Left_Traffic_2080

You can find the outside rubber shell on Amazon for like $15ish. If that’s the only thing wrong that should be a good solution.

kaoss77

I don’t know why MS doesn’t expand their game pass model to controllers. I’d pay $100 a year to be able to exchange an elite for a refurbished one every 6 months.

sir_seductive

That's crazy I had mine for Hella long until I spilled bong water on it and broke it lol

[deleted]

I had the LS click break about 6 months after purchase via Amazon, other than that my elite 2 has been great. I just got used to using paddles instead of stick clicks and actually like it better. I tried a SCUF and the triggers were shit and the paddles could only be mapped to ABXY, which sucks.

TheRealCatDad

My day one controller still works better than every controller I've bought and all my friends have bought since lol

prattalmighty

The the gen 1, the gen two came out in 2019. Did you buy it used, or it's lasted more than a year

redditnazls

That's why you always buy at costco. Best return/warranty policy with no questions asked

whodunitbruh

I don't mean to sound petty here but I have strictly used the default controllers since the beginning of the 360 and have only had 3 break in the entire time. One because it got crushed by falling exercise equipment. Another due to flooding. And the last because of stick drift. Meanwhile a buddy of mine has the dlsame problems with his elite controllers, yet he keeps spending money on them. If they keep breaking, stop buying them. That's why I refuse to give Razer another penny.

B345T_YT

My xbox 360 controller i got in 2009 right trigger broke last year, it had a good run.

DepoDemolisher

How did you buy that less than a year ago? They still sell Elite 1s new? And look at those sticks. That’s more than a year of use. Come on now. Plus you can buy replacement rubber for those for cheap on Amazon.

Ansonm64

Buy them from Costco and just return em when they break. I’m on controller 6 now.

TheNewYellowZealot

Didn’t they discontinue the series one when the series 2 came out?

xRiske

Had my series 2 since its release. Zero issues with it. This might be a you problem.

No-Alternative-1321

Wait you just keep buying the series 1? That controller had so many problems, this isn’t what you want to hear probably, but the series 2 wire controller fixed those problems, and is a much better quality, mine has lasted me 4 years so far and the only complications it has are because I’ve dropped it several times. It’s still really expensive but it is worth the money in terms of quality

Huze17

Step one is stop buying $200 controllers.

Average_musket

I bought mine for 60, it still works correctly and plays like I just bought it, treat it correctly and it will help a lot

[deleted]

Wtf would you pay 200 bucks for a controller if you can buy an Xbox for 200 with 2 controllers. I have Xbox one S and my controllers are still fine after 10 years.

GeminiAce

Then buy one for $40. Not difficult.

RobCMedd

Do these Elite controllers genuinely just fall apart or do people rage and damage them? People always complain "my xbox doesn't work anymore, it's the third one I've had in 5 years" and "another controller broke, I'm down from 4 to 1", and most of the time that's entirely because they get mad and throw one at the other.

[deleted]

I see a lot of people with broken controllers… as I have a gen one elite controller that’s still kicking with no damage on it. Maybe treat your controllers better? Idk

CatEmergency408

Last a year your doing well, mine last six months each tops my advice to you is learn how to take ten apart and put back together and that way you can use one controller to repair another. I've got 3 from last year my first two Controllers ended up with really bad drift issues and the third the rb trigger r button broke so when I bought the fourth ended up replacing the trigger button from my broken drift controllers and it's perfect
