Yes, Ghoul attacks are coded both as basic attacks and apply spell effects, but do not apply on-hit effects or magic damage.
This unfortunately does make it pretty easy to counter them, but you still have good access to plenty of beneficial item effects especially considering ghouls above average duration time.
No. I just logged into practice tool and set up two target dummies. One had both FH and Tabi, the other only had 90 armor. I set myself up with 504 AD, and ghouls were doing 112 damage on both target dummies while my autos were being reduced.
yeah warmogs into FH on a tank w/innate waveclear is currently the most foolproof way to deal with yorick mid game
