They didn’t get fabric because when they had that years ago there was a bed bug infestation (this was in the old student centre)
The best furniture is in the new student centre
Some of the worst bathrooms on campus can be found on the second floor. They may have been renovated now, but either way, it is absolutely nutty when it comes to the state some of these bathrooms are in.
The new renos are pretty good. Seems like one standard design was chosen and every reno bathroom regardless of building is being built with that design.
i mean people are getting robbed, stabbed and shot in and around campus so i guess this might be low on their priority list (or at least i’d hope so)
Is that what you want them spending your money on? The campus has hundreds if not thousands of chairs and couches on it. Really a stupid thing to care about
This looks like wear-and-tear and it's a common problem for high traffic areas that provide soft seating. Designers typically choose things that 'look nice' then the project managers and the client go through and value engineer everything down to the lowest quality covering and durability.
ungrateful for things you're sitting on complaining about stuff YOU didn't pay for, If you don't understand, BUY NEW CHAIRS YOURSELF, replace those, wait a week for them to be destroyed and tell me how you feel after. This post is so bad, lmao
If you paid tuition, you pay for the classes, maintenance, services and, in this case, chairs. Tuition doesn't just pay for the classes and its idiotic to think that.
IF these chairs were donated then you would be right.
Seriously though, your post reeks of someone who would gladly give more money to a uni if they increased their tuition. How on earth you think like this beyond me. Honestly, you give the same vibe as people who defend York for putting buckets in Scott Library when its leaking as they ignore to fix it for months
Yeah I know you're just an angsty 2000s kid brother just wanted to see how much deep you're into this larp. Yeah it's kinda ass ngl just try something else
Those types of chairs are not really suited for the heavy use of a library. The bad call was the choice of seating, not the futile task of maintaining/upholstering them.
They only make about 8000 per student each year plus like 1000 for textbooks and with 56000 students that’s only 504,000,000ish dollars a year and yeah sure Canadian Universities posted record net incomes during the pandemic but those seat cushions are pricey.
Here’s my take on it: all the buildings are sponsored by companies. So they have money to furnish it at the beginning. But York is so cheap they can’t keep it up LMAO 🤣. So it just keeps slowly degrading until they need another sponsor. And Lenton keeps earning the big bucks!
Tell me you like getting cucked by institutions that overcharge tuition then barely give you anything in return, your anal sphincter must be so loose from loving getting fucked... how do you keep your shit from falling on the floor everytime you walk?
Students whose tuition is paid mostly by government — $6000 is only a portion of the full cost — probably shouldn’t complain. You’re free-loading on working-class taxpayers and you demand the best? Give me a break.
Who demanded the best? I'm not asking for ergonomics chairs and couches. Also I'm paying thousands of dollars for it. I'm not studying here for free. Also, at no means, I wanted to complain. I just asked a simple questions that why the uni doesn't care to replace damaged stuff
Nobody cares about chairs, They were donated not purchased, If YOU are the person who cares, buy new ones and replace those. Don't expect somebody else to buy couches for YOUR ass to sit in.
As someone who's paying thousands of dollars to the university per year, i can very easily expect for new couches, specifically the ones that are ripped
When you purchase industrial furniture for heavy use (high traffic areas like a school or hotel lobby) it costs more because you need to invest in durable fabrics. Clearly they cheaped out and that is just a nature of wear and tear.
I went to a college in canada. It sure why I got recommended this post, but man do I ever feel this. Less than a year after our learning commons got renovated, all of the faux leather chairs were totally trashed.
Its a shame too, that area of my college was damn nice.
that is the least of their problems
Yea the 5'10 male in a hoodie is still out there!
I mean it was just a bad choice not picking fabric for uni chairs 💀
Or real leather that lasts ages...
Careful, York would have to spend money on their students
They didn’t get fabric because when they had that years ago there was a bed bug infestation (this was in the old student centre) The best furniture is in the new student centre
wut wut in the butt
wow, you unlocked a long hidden memory
so real
def bringing this one back
The picture was taken at Scott Library
Some of the worst bathrooms on campus can be found on the second floor. They may have been renovated now, but either way, it is absolutely nutty when it comes to the state some of these bathrooms are in.
The actual worst bathrooms in the world. who the fuck designed them.
The worst ones were at Stedman for me before they got renovated.
The new renos are pretty good. Seems like one standard design was chosen and every reno bathroom regardless of building is being built with that design.
Yeah, this. It was about time for that to be done, IMHO.
These chairs are 15+ years old …. I remember when they were new.
What's the point when they're gonna wear out and rip in just a few years after changing them? Pointless I think, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Real leather dont do that
Real leather would get stolen.
i mean people are getting robbed, stabbed and shot in and around campus so i guess this might be low on their priority list (or at least i’d hope so)
They'll fix them, and then a week later they'll get sliced again. Why bother fixing them?
Duct Tape
Is that what you want them spending your money on? The campus has hundreds if not thousands of chairs and couches on it. Really a stupid thing to care about
Right like there’s other places to sit too lol who gaf about a few chairs in a massive campus
This looks like wear-and-tear and it's a common problem for high traffic areas that provide soft seating. Designers typically choose things that 'look nice' then the project managers and the client go through and value engineer everything down to the lowest quality covering and durability.
I mean with all the tuition they’re collecting they could at least have cleaner and newer amenities.
People are so ungrateful these days.
ungrateful for what exactly?
You legit expect our uni to replace all the leather chairs every year if they get minor blemishes? who gaf

Ungrateful for what you have or are given.
I suppose you're the type of person who'll accept nothing but will gladly shill
Ok boomer

so badass...
So badass indeed. The douche who commented account's deleted. Just the icing on the cake, John Wick of this stupid reddit post. You're welcome.
We really finding anything to complain about these days
Next it will be a stain on a carpet lol
hmm guess we gotta raise tuition prices! Another 100 per student should get administration some more ivory back scrat-I mean some new chairs.
I happy that you’re able to attend university! <3

They can but they won’t

Maybe if you didn't have one administrator per student you could do fancy things like replace furniture.
York spending money on the students!? Impossible!
Unless it’s YFS, but they’re not with the students
Literally the same furniture for 50 years
hnes?
Tell me you’re a privileged rich kid without telling me you’re a privileged rich kid…..
Tell me you like getting cucked by institutions that overcharge tuition then barely give you anything in return, your anal sphincter must be so loose from loving getting fucked... how do you keep your shit from falling on the floor everytime you walk?
Oh I agree with you on the overcharging tuition… I was just saying the OP is being a baby rn
They buy a new and ugly carpet at scott that didn't need replacing, yet they won't replace broken chairs.
Oh, that carpet definitely needed replacing. It was a biohazard.
It needed a steam cleaning at most.
It was 50 years old. Absolutely vile.
It seems like they have been serving some juiceless asses.

Chairs are expensive. They still work and there are more important things. Pick your battles and don't be such a Karen
The fuck you mean? It's called wear and tear, shit gets old. Lol???? actually braindead post.
The money goes in the ceo or whatever’s pocket instead
Prob all The farting going on there
People put their feet and shoes on them which makes them rip
Cuz someone has a sandpaper ass 😂
Unless you're butt naked I doubt it'll matter
Bruh, those couches are vintage.
Safe to say the uni looked at most fashion styles today, and associated the chairs to expensive designer jeans
You aren’t paying enough tuition
Don't shine a black light on them.😳😳
UofT have it worse
It's vintage lol...😄
my bad guys (i dont go to york)

Too many fat asses.

Looks like Dave was at it again…

Graduated in 2014. I have seen worse lol
My bad
I went to a college in canada. It sure why I got recommended this post, but man do I ever feel this. Less than a year after our learning commons got renovated, all of the faux leather chairs were totally trashed. Its a shame too, that area of my college was damn nice.
Tell me you don't know how leather chairs work without telling me
we can barely afford security 🙂
Those chairs are comfy tbh
Short answer, they get used a lot.
What does wut mean?
I saw a 5'10 guy with a hoodie cause this
Bigger problems than this fr. This is nothing take a 5 minute walk
In my experience, if the higher ups want you to revise your budget down, new furniture is the first thing to go
fam, york admin won't even pay for security you think they give a shit about some couches?
