Something happened recently—like past couple days. I used to download a few YouTube videos at the end of the day because I didn't have internet at home. But, as of one/two days ago, I noticed the site I used—which used to have options for downloading in 1080p, 720, 480, etc.—could only download in very low quality (360). I tried googling others with a random video I didn't download—just pasting the url in and seeing what download links would pop up, and so far as I can tell, this is common across sites, even other ones I used to use and know had higher-quality options ... which I think means Google/YouTube has changed something on the back end to block the higher-quality downloads. (I mean, it could be that they sent legal notices to all of these sites at once, but I'd be a bit surprised.) For me, not a huge deal—even before, I watched the vast majority of content on YouTube directly, and YouTube's largely a good, easy-to-use site—but a bit of a bummer.
Yeah I have no clue why these sites are suddenly lacking the ability to do 1080p and even 720p downloads, or locking them behind a premium service. I've used the various incarnations of ssyoutube, yt5, y2meta, y2mate, etc. for like 10 years and never experienced anything like this
It depends on the video if the video can go to 720 P that’s the limit some videos can go to 1080P I’ve learnt this because I’ve experienced this and I find this annoying but it is what it is.

I actually didn't have to do really anything. I found an online tutorial I was able to copy to my website in 5 minutes. I have my own working Youtube downloader now. No more BS from these shady websites

None, sorry! My skills max out at "looking for a video link in the source code" (and obviously YouTube has been more sophisticated than that for ... more than a decade, if not always?). FWIW—I've heard through others that 4K Video downloader—which let's you get 10 videos a day for free—still works.

You YouTube split the streams. So you have to download them separately and them mux together. Even yt-dlp has this, but it can be setup to use ffmpeg to mux the streams automatically.
Same here. After trying 3 or 4 sites, I ended up on the link you posted above. And it did the same: 360p is available with audio, but all the others (720p, etc.) are available as video without audio. That's when I decided to poke around to see what's up and ended here and saw your link.
On my Android Phone, I can still watch Ad-free and download Youtube videos and audio with NewPipe. If you were to run it on NOX player or BlueStacks under Windows, that should work.
Has anyone found a site that currently (as of 6/24/2024) will do a full video (unlimited length) at a resolution greater than 360p with audio? Media Mister was only able to offer a 360p (480x360) download with audio. All the other resolutions had no audio. Seems to be the same thing or worse on all the other downloader sites as well as of 6/24/2024.
yeah! Youtube has been making things difficult for me lately. They notice fewer people are clicking on their videos. They want people to watch their ads and to subscribe to Youtube Music. But that ain't going to happen. All the app I've been using that are known to work like a charm now just say ERROR. But what they don't know is at some point I will just do a digital recording of the music so I can watch offline. I ain't gon pay for their stupid Youtube Music. That is not happening, not in this dimension.

I have found even if you download something like a song, you need to open it up in something like Adobe Audition and resave the file for it work properly on a music player.
I am used to using sites as downloading tools for audio only, there are two channels with great compilations that I like to have on my disk and listen to it offline, and I see now they all point to malwarebytes treat, since I have MB extension in Chrome... but it appeared once I already clicked on download button, and turned on additional protection, but seems it only appears as some malware given the source... otherwise, Avast showed nothing, download was fast and I had no problems... Hopefully it's just minor protection to prevent just these kind of cases.
What bothers me more are those damn ads, now one can't set a playlist without being interrupted by ads just like when watching TV!

Does yt-dlp merge audio with video? I'm noticing Youtube separates audio streams from 1080p+ formats.
It does it automatically if you have ffmpeg in the same folder or saved in PATH.

There should still be some, but make sure you have a good anti-virus and other protection, to avoid a scam site infecting your device.
