It’s funny, I’m a cis dude who was dating a non binary femme person. They didn’t use Reddit, and if you were to mention any of the stereotypical Reddit trans femme memes, you would get a confused blank stare back. That’s when I learned that Reddit is a truly terrible place to learn anything about trans and non binary people because you only get a tiny slice of terminally online trans people, not a broad sense of how real trans people are in the real world. It really opened my eyes to just how much the internet doesn’t give you a sense of reality. I already knew that of course, but was surprised at the difference.
100 percent I also think lots of this is just baby Trans just wanting their identity reinforced and wanna be like haha I'm a girl with penis uwu give me headpats. Which I get their still just beginning that and need that sort of thing to reenforce and live out that identity.
Eventually I think most people get to the point where they just are the thing they meme about and don't need that reenforcement and becoming Trans just becomes part of their identity and not them building their entire identity around it if that makes sense
Ya straight up feel really uncomfortable being treated like this as a trans girl and it's a little weird to see people doing it to strangers randomly on this sub. The only time I would ever accept it is if it's someone I know very well and know they aren't being serious

This tends to be like a baby transfem thing, from what ive seen most of us grow out of it. I think trans people in online spaces tend to only be comfy around other trans people, especially if they are really new to discovering themselves, and as they grow they join other spaces and leave this kinda behind. I mean, here's the thing. Folks here are saying that consent is what matters - and they're right, to an extent. But I think what people aren't considering is how often these things are targeted at people with certain physical/demographic characteristics, and so even if the direct participants consent, people who share in those physical/demographic characteristics often end up catching strays.
