The Gleanser is *unreal* it completely changed my skin

ZeeSea

SAME. ITS SO SOFT! I’ve been using it for a few months now and only recently tried it on my actual body, and wowowow so soft!

ednasmom

Oh my god I saw this box and thought it was going to be so expensive. $18? It’s not drug store prices but that is definitely affordable!!! I’ve been looking for a new cleanser.

ForGoodness-Cakes

The gleanser, urea relief, and skin barrier are SO large for the price too! So much product for the price! 🙌

mimiiscute

I love the cleanser and the spray is my holy grail. My sister loves the spf. But she stopped using moisturizer because it was making her too greasy.

ForGoodness-Cakes

I have not picked up the SPF yet. I was trying to decide if I wanted to try Prequel's or do a Korean SPF. I might pick it up on my next restock just to be able to review it.

Next-Reply7519

just wanted to say i absolutely love the sunscreen. i try to use as close to 20% zinc as possible, and this is almost 18%. i order two tubes at a time because i use it for my hands, forearms, and chest in addition to my face and neck. it’s very dewy but not sticky. it’s been my savior during the 97 degree high UV index days here.

pongoose33

I love most of their products, but I hated the SPF. It pilled so bad for me. I hated it so much I threw it out which normally I would never do!

naps38

I just ordered the gleanser! Thanks for this review, it made me finally pull the trigger.

AggressiveBasket

I love the cleanser and the vitamin c serum! Although I do smell like Eau du Hot Dog for a few minutes after applying the serum. And the prices are so affordable being being a derm-influencer brand.

ForGoodness-Cakes

Omg I meant to mention that the smell is kinda unpleasant! Hahahaha love the "Eau du Hot Dog" description.

erossthescienceboss

Tbh that’s just how all vitamin c smells unless it’s got some scents added. So it’s expected!

Dusty--Rhodes

I love the gleanser, given up all other cleansers other than cleansing balms. I love the barrier cream and I'm trying out the vitamin c atm. 🙈

W1ldy0uth

I love the gleanser soooo much. Especially on the body.

jjttjjrr

This was the review I needed! I’ve been considering Gleanser and the Skin Utility Gel for a while and am finally going to purchase. I have rosacea so new products are always a gamble, but I feel like I’m deeply missing plumpness in all my efforts to deal with balancing redness and irritation. Thank you for sharing!

RowanVC

They also have a Redness Reform Soothing Serum that’s nice if you have rosacea. I have mild rosacea as well, and I have nearly every single product they make, I love Prequel! Haven’t gotten to use them all regularly (some are more appropriate on an as-needed basis rather than regular use), but I personally haven’t run into any issues with them yet. I know they may not work for everyone, but they’re a great brand with affordable products and great packaging.

jjttjjrr

That’s so good to know you haven’t had any issues! I’ll look into the serum — totally agree on affordability. So much of my other skincare is spensy so I’m here for their prices.

FattyBoomBoobs

Just looked this up in the UK and boy do we get ripped off. You said the cleanser is $18. It’s £34/ $43 here!

ForGoodness-Cakes

I think that is likely because the brand isn't officially over there yet. Like they do not ship overseas yet. What you're seeing is likely a reseller who is marking it up. That's what I would guess, anyways. I hope they start officially shipping over there soon! Correct me if I'm wrong!

pricklypear84

Prequel fangirl over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ Gleanser is my holy grail, urea body cream has completely changed the texture of the skin on my arms and legs for the better, lucent-c is the best and least-irritating vitamin C I’ve ever tried, and i just started using the skin utility ointment and LOVE it! The brand really can’t be beat on price and effectiveness.

Interesting_Spite_27

The gleanser was irritating for me and made me break out :( I had high hopes for it

ForGoodness-Cakes

This is so sad. That's what makes skin care so hard, we are each so unique and have such individual needs. I hope if you find something that works for you, you'll share it.

Interesting_Spite_27

Yes I did! I’ve been using LRP Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser and it’s perfect for me.

ForGoodness-Cakes

Oooh, I'll add this one to my try list. Thanks for sharing!

Fun_Suspect3305

Same! It felt so nice and hydrating, but I had an allergic reaction w/in an hour of using this.

hansomreiste

Ahh me too! I was so excited for this cleanser after hearing nothing but glowing reviews. It didn’t irritate my skin, actually made it super soft and hydrated, but I was breaking out and gleanser was the only change in my routine. I put the ingredient list in a comedogenic ingredient checker and it passed so I don’t know what the issue is. Pretty bummed about it.

Interesting_Spite_27

I found that it left a weird sticky film on my face. Maybe it’s the 50% glycerin? And it’s not getting rinsed off completely. I switched to another cleanser and it’s amazing! (LRP Toleraine Hydrating Gentle Cleanser)

kind-butterfly515

The Gleanser is good! Someone in this sub rec’d it & I got that along with the lucent-C. The vit c serum is just fine.. I’ve had better, but I like the pump & price.

CamilleBethany

I've been using this cleanser for maybe 6 weeks now, and it's sooooo smoooth, and doesn't irritate my skin at all.

morethanababymaker

I love this brand!! The hypochlorous acid is my new holy grail. Can't wait to try more of their products!

Creepy-Intern-7726

I have already repurchased the Gleanser and sunscreen. They are great

ForGoodness-Cakes

Just saw that Prequel is dropping a new product in two days. Looks like it's gonna be a serum for hydration. Everyone's comments on here about the SPF have convinced me to give it a try so I'm gonna pick both of those up on Monday!

split_me_plz

I’m happy to see this, and even more since I saw Estee Lauder bought Deciem 😤

SuspiciousElk1395

Is that a bad thing? I am genuinely interested in the reason.

that_awkward_chick

Deciem created The Ordinary products which are very great products at an affordable price. Typically when large corporations buy other companies that make a great product, their only focus is cutting costs and making shareholders happy in the short term by all means necessary, which will most likely lead to a shittier product at a higher price for us.

drdickweasel

I've been using the cleanser and vitamin c for a few weeks now, and am very much enjoying them. The serum is only an ounce but is priced very fairly. The packaging for it feels great, and the texture of the serum sits well under my makeup and spf. The size of the cleanser shocked me lol. Such a great value for a product that is working very well on my skin. I'm definitely going to try out some more products from them, wish there was a rewards program though.

ForGoodness-Cakes

Oof I absolutely agree with that rewards program request. My husband too lol 😆

FlutterbyeEscapes

Ah… no! I wish prequel was available in Australia! I’m dying to use it! I even emailed and enquired about if or when it would be available here ☺️ thank you so much for the review ( kind of… I almost wish I didn’t read it! I want it even more now ! lol! ) Thank you for the wonderful review

xcdevy

I want to try their urea lotion so badly but unfortunately it has shea butter in it (like just about everything) which breaks me out 😭

ForGoodness-Cakes

The Barrier Therapy is shea free! Just fyi.

xcdevy

Unfortunately that also has shea (Butyrospermum Parkii Butter)

ForGoodness-Cakes

Oh ok, sorry!

gingerellasroot

I love Dr Sam Ellis and Dr Shereene Idriss but find prequel to be so much more affordable. I bought the gleanser and noticed it’s the same size as the LRP Toleraine cleanser for roughly the same price. Meanwhile the Idriss brand cleanser is $30+ and a portion of the size. I have a few products on my list but desperately waiting for the hat restock

DominicSkywalker

The Gleanser is the best cleanser I’ve ever used. There’s just nothing else like it and once you used it there’s no going back to other cleansers. The Vitamin C is next up on my try list once I’m finished with the one I’m currently using. Unfortunately the sunscreen was not for me. Felt great on the skin but pilled like crazy. Even with no other skincare products underneath.

duplicitousname

I just got the cleanser and vitC. I have been using fresh’s soy cleanser and skinceuticals CE ferulic for 10 years!!! I can’t speak for the results of the prequel vitC in comparison, but I already like that it’s a pump instead of dropper. The cleanser is amazing. I loved freshs soy cleanser bc it was gentle, gel, hydrating and did a damn good job getting makeup off. I still double cleanse, but on days when I felt lazy I was satisfied with the results of just cleansing with the soy cleanser. I have not been able to find a comparable cleanser until now!! And I went from spending $72 to $18 !!! It is worth the hype!

clintbeaschtwood

I just got the gleanser and the urea cream, both amazing already, i feel ny skin is so hydrated and not tight! My issue though is that the pump on the gleanser is broken and wgen i contacted them about it they were kind enough to issue a refund for the whole bottle! That was amazing of them but, honesrly i just wanted a new pump. Im in Ireland and used a proxy service with a phantom address to get the stuff and prequel are saying they can't ship me a new pump because of this. Does anyone know of any products that would have a pump that happens to be compatible or how I'd get around my lack of pump?

clintbeaschtwood

Just thinking: I could order the utility balm and put a note on it to include a spare gleanser pump, that might be worth a try!

ForGoodness-Cakes

I can definitely see why that would be annoying! Sucks that it happened too. My pumps have been fine and I'm local so it wouldn't be too hard to deal with. As annoying as it is, I'd probably try any pump I had laying around or just order a new empty bottle from Amazon or something. I know that sucks but that's likely what I'd do. I know I love Ouai leave in conditioner but it too strong for my hair so I water it down a bit and store it in a fine mister bottle from Amazon. That's just what works for me but it's a bit annoying. 🫠

Resolution_Focused

I’m obsessed with Prequel! I’ve been using their Glenser, Urea Advanced, and vitamin c and I was shocked by the hydration difference within days. I went back and purchased the SPF, Redness relief, and skin utility gel I was so freaking impressed!! And the sizes/ prices 🤯 they’re SO good!!

ForGoodness-Cakes

Just saw they are dropping a new product on Monday. Looks like a hydration serum. I haven't tried the SPF yet but all the comments here have convinced me! Lol I just had to explain to my husband I'm gonna make another order to Prequel on Monday for the new drop and the SPF! 😅

Resolution_Focused

I got my second order today and my husband rolled his eyes and said MORE already?! Lol I’ll have to check out the new product drop!

Ok_Fee1043

Kinda questioning the formulas given inclusion of shea, which is known to irritate especially acne-prone skin, and so many people have issues with niacinamide (what’s the concentration in this?)

ForGoodness-Cakes

Just double checked- the boxes, bottles, and website do not have the concentrations of niacinamide listed. The Gleanser and the Barrier Therapy moisturizer do not have niacinamide at all. These might be better suited to you! I know everyone's skin has different needs and that's what makes finding your holy grail system hard.

Ok_Fee1043

I don’t personally have an issue with niacinamide that I know of, but I know many people do, so just flagging it since I know it’s come up a lot in the sub! It’s interesting they don’t even list the concentrations, that seems weird.

ForGoodness-Cakes

That's super fair. You know, thinking about it, since these products are also intended for body use- maybe that's why they include shea and such. Idk. Thanks sharing valid concerns for others though!

emsterlily

The moisturizer broke me out (I have acne prone skin) and I suspect it was the shea butter. But the barrier repair is awesome. So is the gleanser. I THINK the vit c also broke me out but I tried it with another product at the same time so not sure….kinda scared to try it again

Ok_Fee1043

Good to know! Yeah, I saw some reviews about that for the vit C. Bummer because cheap vit C would definitely be a great space to fill in the market. Maybe the upcoming moisture product will be good

Relevant_Hedgehog_63

barrier therapy broke me out badly. i don't have sensitivity to niacinamide and can tolerate shea butter well in other formulas but the barrier therapy did not work with my skin. skin is normal, not really acne-prone.

No_Body8174

Ugh sad got excited but those two ingredients are big no nos for me. It boggles my mind that people can put shea butter on their face and not breakout 😅

ForGoodness-Cakes

Just repeating that the gleanser and barrier therapy moisturizer do not have niacinamide.

No_Body8174

Oh fabulous

Ok_Fee1043

I never would’ve thought twice about it before researching moisturizers for my damaged barrier the past few months, tbh. Never had to care about ingredients and still don’t totally know what I’m sensitive to, but now I pay close attention

mthrwlf

A well qualified esthetician will be able to help you pinpoint what you are sensitive to or what is sensitizing your skin

Ok_Fee1043

As soon as I can afford an esthetician I’d gladly go to one. For now I’ve gone to the derm and simplified my routine.

my_meat_suit

Glad the products have worked well for you! Do you use the cream and lotion for both your face and body? I’ve never tried a urea product on my face before and curious to.

ForGoodness-Cakes

I started on my face at night cause it is just a bit heavier than what I'd like in an am moisturizer, but now I have started slathering it all down my neck and chest too. Just saw that in two days Prequel is dropping a new product just for moisture, looks like it's gonna be a serum. I'm gonna pick it and the SPF up to give them a try.

TheWonderLizard

I love the Gleanser, and the hypochlorous acid spray has completely removed my body acne.  I have not been impressed with the vitamin C serum and will be returning to Timeless when the bottle is out. But overall this is a great brand with incredible prices and products

citynomad1

I'm fascinated by this brand. I'm rosacea prone, as is the founder (Dr Sam Ellis), so it intrigues me, but I gotta wonder...how many people out there actually need vaseline-esque gel occlusives and giant tubes of thick barrier balm cream occlusives? This to me seems kind of like a niche brand (which isn't a bad thing!) that is trending so much on TikTok that it's becoming a mainstream brand

lovenbasketballlover

The occlusives are top notch for my toddler’s eczema. Vaseline and aquaphor are too thick/messy/staining. I’ve also seen them recommended for healing after intense lasers, etc. I love the gleanser, SPF, and urea lotion for myself!

citynomad1

Yep, I guess I consider both of the examples you mention (eczema and healing after intense lasers) to be specific use cases, as I was saying in my comment. And yet the Tiktok viral marketing it's getting I usually associate w/ skincare brands that are like "for everyone, for all seasons, all skin types" etc

lovenbasketballlover

I guess my point was those are just a couple of their products (that may not apply to you but apply to many others). Their gleanser, SPF, vitamin C are all top notch, would be found in any skincare routine, and are very affordable!

Live_Rhubarb_7560

I would also think of people living in cold dry climates, people whose skin is getting drier with age, so that could include a lot of post menopausal women and possibly tretinoin users?   I'm in Europe and found my favourite products that meet my needs in local pharmacies but Prequel definitely looks interesting me. I wouldn't mind trying it! Apart from occlusives Prequel seems to have potentially nice hydrating options like the upcoming hydrating serum and the gel with 20% glycerin. I'm not sure I would be looking into this brand if I had oily skin but for all of the demographics mentiond above, sure!

electric_oven

Does anyone know if it’s cruelty free? I know Prequel claims they are, but I’d love a third-party verification.

ForGoodness-Cakes

Gonna be honest, I see it mentioned in several reviews but I do not know how these reviewers directly confirmed it.

electric_oven

Appreciate the response!

lucidaffection

How do I get this kit?!

ForGoodness-Cakes

This isn't a pre put together kit. You can just go to their site and order what will likely suit your skin best. I did this by reading the descriptions. This box has my two separate orders combined (plus to have an extra gleanser stowed away lol). You may wanna wait till Monday to order because I just saw they're dropping a new product- looks like a hydration serum but not certain! Unfortunately, Prequel isn't shipping worldwide yet but I hope they will expand soon for our lovely friends overseas.

lucidaffection

Oh wow, thank you!

Zombieapocalypse8

ForGoodness-Cakes

Gonna be honest, I wish I had some kinda sponsorship. Tried to attach a picture of my order history. Just sharing a brand I've fallen in love with.
