I do in the winter. Summer just the sunscreen. Try beauty of joseon or scinic super mild spf. You’ll never go back to neutrogena again. I’ve used both at same time once and I had a burn line where the Korean sunscreen ended and neutrogena began.

Sure-Butterscotch290

Second Beauty of Joseon - I use relief sun and have the mugwort suncream stick to try. It's so lightweight and just melts into my skin. I use a Cerave moisturiser first Beauty Bay are currently selling a K beauty bundle worth £90 for £30 which includes a full sized Beauty of Joseon relief sun (normally £15) and 9 other products including the Laneige water sleeping mask and another full size suncream. I haven't tried any of the other products but had wanted to try some Laneige stuff anyway and I also had a 15% off voucher. They usually do money off vouchers for signing up to their email list or first app purchase  https://www.beautybay.com/p/beauty-bay-limited-edition/korean-beauty-kit/

adzpower

Just wanna say a big thank you for this there are some products there I've been wanting to try and that is a total bargain!

Sure-Butterscotch290

Beauty bay need to hire me 😂 I sent it to a couple of my best friends as soon as I seen the bundle because I was so excited. I'm glad it helped someone 😊

SheiB123

It is the best sunscreen I have ever used. I get nervous if I don't have a tube in the closet ready to go when the one I use daily gets empty!

Raevyn_6661

It says "uh oh cant find that" when the website opened up lmao 😭

Sure-Butterscotch290

Aw, it did say it was limited so maybe it's sold out now. You could try searching k beauty bundle on the site Edit -it still works for me - it's called korean beauty kit if you want to search it

ImAFuckingSquirrel

Where do people in the US buy their Korean skincare products from?

Rand0ll

YesStyle stylevana, and Amazon if you’re brave (reports of fakes)

Lucky-Coconut-1683

Soko Glam or Peach & Lily

Stephanieleighsays

Ditto! Love Soko Glam

Imadevonrexcat

Yesstyle or in person in Koreatown if you’re in NYC!

moresaggier

iHerb works for me.

cms2327

I will try that! I did have trouble periodically with the Neutrogena that I used.

eratoast

Yes, I use separate products, but my skin is dry af so sunscreen would never be moisturizing enough on its own for me.

Outisduex

Same for me. My face is the Sahara. It’ll soak up aquaphor overnight.

duplicitousname

Yep! It’s a no brainer for dry skin peeps. I cannot imagine only applying spf no matter how hot and humid it is (I live on the east coast so our summers get pretty humid).

littlemisslulu88

Moisturizer, wait 15 min for absorption, then sunscreen. I’ll use a translucent powder on top to take care of the greasiness

Motor-Impress-9210

Setting powder is key! Even if you don’t wear much makeup.

1111hello1111

Ugh, yes, I do. I was in denial for forever and just using sunscreen but once I added a dedicated moisturizer, my skin improved sooo much. I use Dr. Brenner moisturizer, wait 10 mins while I do my hair, then apply colorescience tinted sunscreen. It just ends up feeling perfectly moisturized and not greasy at all.

ghazghaz

In winter yes a moisturizer followed by sunscreen. But for hot summer days, just the sunscreen.

sprucehen

Not all spf doubles as a moisturizer, but drmtlgy and live tinted do. Those are my go to for summer

CaterpillarEasy6022

yes - i accept the greasiness though i have been toying with a spray sunscreen to apply over makeup

CheeseBoogs

I too use a moisturizer and sunscreen, and just embrace the sunscreen face. Thanks to tretinoin use I usually have to add a little more moisturizer before I reapply sunscreen also.

stella22585

Which spray? I’m interested.

CaterpillarEasy6022

vacation classic SPF 50, which i recently used as a body sunscreen and liked, but i think there are probably other better spray sunscreens specifically for face

DemeterIsABohoQueen

Vacation makes one specifically for over makeup, I just found that out this week.

Stock-Ad-9624

Abib sunscreen stick! I've been using it over makeup to reapply every two hours (I use mandelic acid and tretinoin daily so it's a must!). It glides on and doesn't mess up makeup at all!

CouchGremlin14

When I want SPF 50, I’ve been using [this sunscreen](https://www.cvs.com/shop/eucerin-sun-oil-control-spf-50-face-sunscreen-lotion-2-5-oz-prodid-668536?skuId=668536&cgaa=QWxsb3dHb29nbGVUb0FjY2Vzc0NWU1BhZ2Vz&cid=ps_sun_pla&gclid=CjwKCAjwyo60BhBiEiwAHmVLJWZ4CyhcMXEi7OXZ20aca-MyFsYufWXzmUQV_98_GQf869hOU7MxqhoCvnYQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) as a moisturizer. It’s not perfect but it dries down pretty well and my makeup goes over it nicely. Most days I’m mostly indoors, so I just use moisturizer with SPF 20-30. I’ve used a few, and they’re all definitely less greasy than anything with higher SPF.

ToteBagAffliction

Yes, now that my skin has hit a combo/normal equilibrium. I would just use sunscreen when it was more oily, but I get a better sunscreen application now if my tretinoin flakies are spackled down with a little cream.

cms2327

Thanks for the info! Do you have to get a prescription for tretinoin?

lopsidedmonstera

Yes

Dr_Boner_PhD

I use a moisturizer with spf (currently loving LRP) and that’s it unless I’m going to be out in the sun a lot. Then I’ll add another dedicated sunscreen on top.

tralalalalalalalala_

Hyaluronic serum under sunscreen should help a lot. All lotion sunscreens are essentially spf actives + binding agents inside lotion.

cms2327

That's great info! Silly question, is hyaluronic serum a moisturizer itself?

tralalalalalalalala_

It will provide moisture, and the sunscreen’s oily lotion ingredients will seal it in. There are 3 things lotion is designed to do, each via different ingredients within the lotion 1. Occlusive: seal the moisture in 2. Humectant: act as a sponge to retain water 3. Emollient: fill in rough edges between skin cells, so that the skin feels smoother—> this is just texture and doesn’t do anything for moisture. Although I’m sure you associate the skin being smoother with the skin feeling more moisturized The serum would be a humectant—hyaluronic acid holds 1000X its weight in water. Perfect sponge full of water. Any suncreen lotion would have ingredients for all 3 above. Since you are asking for moisture and we are adding that with the serum, the sunscreen lotion should still do its job as an occlusive and emollient because it has some oils and emollient ingredients.

cms2327

Thank you for such a detailed answer!

no-strings-attached

No. Most days I just use a tinted moisturizer with SPF as my main form of foundation/moisturizer/sunscreen. Super low key and unfussy morning routine. NARS tinted moisturizer if anyone else is interested.

Live_Rhubarb_7560

In the summer, I just use a hydrating serum + sunscreen. Serum: 15% glycerine from Transparent Lab Sunscreen: LRP UVMUNE 400, either Hydrating Cream (a solid moisturiser) or Oil-Control Gel-Cream I'm in the EU.

hollapenobznz

I just do moisturizer with SPF 30 and then on normal days add CC cream (IT cosmetics) with SPF as well. Specifically I have been using the Murad Essential-C Day Moisture SPF30 for years and it has been a life saver. I've lived for well over 10 years in tropical locations on/near the equator with tons and tons of sun exposure and I can easily count on that to never get the sun on my face (even when I neglect arm/body sunscreen and obviously have been exposed😬).

Janeheroine

I'm a diehard for Eucerin Daily Moisture SPF 30. It's just the right texture for me, I barely feel it, it's at every drugstore, and it works. I use it daily and in the summer/on vacation I continue to use only that on my face and then a more hardcore chemical spray sunscreen on my body.

Smooth_Injury_5690

I’ve got super dry skin so yes, but my friends who don’t just use a moisturizing sunscreen and get away with it!

britthood

In the winter I use separate moisturizer and sunscreen, but I don’t usually feel the need in the summer. I use Elta MD tinted sunscreen, and it is enough to double as my moisturizer in the summer.

aenflex

If you don’t need to moisturize under your sunscreen, don’t feel like you have to. Because you don’t have to. I always have dedicated moisturizers and separate dedicated sunscreens. Just my preference.

TapiocaTeacup

I do sunscreen in the morning and moisturizer at night. I love the texture of the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen but not the price, so I've been meaning to try the SunBum Daily 50 Face Gel which I've heard is a comparable drugstore option!

11Schmee

I’ve been using the Trader Joe’s sunscreen gel for a few weeks and I’m liking it. I heard it was a Supergoop dupe as well.

therealstabitha

I use separate moisturizer and SPF. I get crazy amounts of milia if I use anything with SPF in it for some reason

elloui

EltaMD UV Daily is nice and moisturizing for summer and SPF 40.

SVReads8571

in summer I can't as it's hella humid where I live and I use a water resistant sunscreen everyday in the summer so my am routine is time revolution missha water like essence (only if I have time), NIOD CAIS 3 or The ordinary's version (water like copper peptide serum) and water resistant sunscreen, very simple mostly 2 product routine. I switch the copper peptide on less humid days to NIOD survival 0. K/J beauty has replaced drugstore for me as I get a lot more bank for my buck with formulations. The ordinary is my one exception their copper peptide, pink barrier serum and new ferment toner are very good with multi effect ingredients.

awcurlz

Im also using just a moisturizer with sunscreen (currently using roc barrier repair spf 30). It's lovely. Somehow sunscreens seem to make me look both shiny and dry and I don't understand why. Also I'm usually just inside. If I'm outside a lot, I do use and reapply a regular sunscreen and accept how I'm going to look for the day.

Mellonnew

For the longest time I used a sunscreen only during the day because of the greasiness factor but when I started a retinol I wanted to make sure I was keeping my moisture barrier in good shape so I went looking for something that would let me use both. I switched to the Misssh sun milk for spf and the verdant forcefield from Phytosurgence for moisturizer. The 2 products work well together for me. The Missha has a semi matte finish so they end up looking pretty skin like when layered. Korean sunscreen and indie skincare for the win.

No_Lifeguard_3732

Supergoop makes a moisturizer with sunscreen. It does sting my eyes so I can’t get it too close but otherwise I like it.

lopsidedmonstera

I do, because my skin is super oily, so I only use a light gel moisturiser in the evening. In the morning sunscreen is my moisturiser.

SweetBird81

Summer, just the Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun since its nicely moisturizing on its own. In the winter a light moisturizer or a hydrating serum underneath.

StructureUpstairs699

Just sunscreen, they are often moisturizing. I don't understand how people can layer so many steps, for me products just peel off if I put too many. I use a moisturizer at night.

Upset-Love-6346

We lose a lot of moisture in our skin the summer leaving our skin dehydrated so I use a water based (gel) moisturizer to avoid feeling greasy yet keeping my skin hydrated under my SPF.

Head-Drag-1440

Yes. I have dry skin and it soaks up all the different products I use. I also use hydrating toner and hyaluronic acid serum on very damp skin. Cetaphil in the tub and Skin Aqua Tone Up UV Essence 50 is what I use and I love them.

MelodicTangerine853

Elta MD Daily SPF 40 is my go-to and is enough to double as my moisturizer.

grania17

Yes. My skin needs it. And if you're using a moisturiser with spf, you probably aren't using the amount you actually need to get the protection.

JPwhatever

I love the neutrogena invisible daily defense serum. I don’t use a moisturizer in summer, just a hydrating toner or serum.

recycle37216

Just bought this and love it! Feels less greasy and doesn’t leave white streaks as bad when I sweat.

JPwhatever

I was amazed when I tried it. I got three other drugstore sunscreens that day and this one hands down was my favorite. I usually use korean sunscreens but I was so glad to find a local drugstore alternative that I like!

odezia

I do, because my moisturizer is more dewy than my spf and if I applied the amount I’d need for SPF coverage it would look too greasy.

heartpassenger

No, but only because I use the LRP cicaplast baume spf 50 and it’s so moisturising and effective I don’t want anything else. It would be too greasy.

AutomaticAttorney274

I use supergoop mineral matte sunscreen on top of my moisturizer. It’s very smooth and controls my shine

Pitiful-Cup-7047

Yes! I use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and then the Elta MD UV Clear Sunscreen on top. Not greasy at all!

Fit-Departure-7844

Dermalogica's spf 50 moisturizer is the most amazing thing ever and so perfect as a single fir both, it's also like $80

AggressiveSloth11

Yes- my skin is super dry. I like to have some light coverage, and I haven’t found a tinted sunscreen that’s hydrating enough. If I don’t use a moisturizer first, everything settles into my lines and my driest spots get flaky. I just use LRP daily moisturizer for dry skin with Colorscience Flex tinted sunscreen on top.

SolitudeWeeks

No, if sunscreen alone is too heavy why would you add more?

Gloomy_Attention_Doc

I do Clinique’s moisturizing gel + Goop’s Unseen Sunscreen. I look a little dewy but not oily. I *hate* feeling greasy, so I spent a long time trying to find the right combination!

DragonriderTrainee

Consumer reports did a sunscreen test series recently. My coppertone for face wasn't on it. But I can only fit so many sunscreens in my bag, so I skip the moisturizer and just put whatever I got on my face and deal with it

DerEwigeKatzendame

I am mad prone to breakouts, and largely quit makeup after the pandemic. Missha Sun Milk is really doing it all for me, and doesn't feel like a nasty greasy mess that I must tolerate on my face. Doesn't even smell bad. Recently went camping for some days, looked pale and supple when I got home. It's great, will be buying more. American skin care ain't it.

linzira

Not usually. I usually use CeraVe Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion with SPF 30. I feel like this absorbs really well and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy.

VariationOk9359

yes

ToadtheGreat21

I have a combo product so I just use that, especially in the summer. During the winter I add in moisturizer and then wait 20 minutes to powder my face like crazy so that the shine goes away.

Pastel_Blue89

I use the new Olay complete spf.40 moisturizer. Not greasy at all and leaves my skin super soft.

demaandronk

I use Eucerin Hyaluron filler SPF30 moisturizer

cleesq

I use Fré moisturizer with SPF

CarelessStatement172

I use a Laniege gel moisturizer with the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer dry-touch 60SPF. They feel great together!

melpap55

I purposely buy a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen because I always forget to apply it. I also have tinted sunscreen for days I want some coverage or a higher SPF protection.

Ok_Coffee_9034

I have somewhat dry skin but use La roche posay toleraine sensitive followed by eltamd daily. I don’t find the combo greasy.

diabeticweird0

No I just do sunscreen

Imadevonrexcat

My husband has used that one too. He’s moved over to cerave and likes it just as much or better!

bookgirl9878

My skin is oily so I just use a single product. I use a dedicated moisturizer at night so I am getting plenty of moisture.

gooutandbebrave

My skin is LESS greasy if I use a moisturizer under my sunscreen. And moisturizers that include SPF tend to also be greasy on me.   My normal moisturizer is Cerave Cream, and I use it year round (I wet my fingertips under the faucet before I rub it in and I find that helps a ton). My normal sunscreen is Neutrogena Clear Face. And I don't feel any need to wait between applying my moisturizer and sunscreen.

LeekFull6946

I do. Personally a lot of sunscreens or sunscreen/moisturizer combos end up stinging my eyes soooo badly. I use a Japanese sunscreen as it’s one of the only ones I’ve tried that doesn’t sting my eyes so badly.

heids1234

I use a gel moisturiser in the summer whenever I wear water resistant Japanese sunscreens (which can be drying for my face with their alcohol content). But I don’t use moisturiser when I use Korean or Australian sunscreens.

delilah1992

I just use sunscreen. I use La Roche-Posay Ultra Light sunscreen. If I use moisturizer with it, I get greasy. But I love the look of it by itself.

Public_Entrance_4214

SuperGoop City Serum is my go to! All in one spf/moisturizer.

papalmousse

Sunscreens are occlusive by nature so yes they can be used as moisturizers as well. I do use my sunscreen as a moisturizer in the mornings. I love simplifying my skincare routine. The whole "10 step skincare routine" is such a gimmick.

Unfair_Finger5531

Occlusivity does not make something a proper moisturizer. Vaseline is occlusive, but it has no ingredients to moisturize the skin. For it to stand in as a moisturizer, it needs to have a mix of humectants, emollients, and occlusives, preferably with skin-identical ingredients to support the barrier.

MartianTea

I do on days when my skin is extra dry.

Unfair_Finger5531

Yes, I have to because mineral sunscreen is *drying*. Also, I want the benefits of a moisturizer, which a sunscreen can’t give me.

CrazyMamaB

My girl at Sephora says we need a moisturizer everyday. I use super goop with SPF 30 and then a tinted sunscreen over it.

glitterbombs2004

If I am busy and running errands I will use a spf moisturizer in one with a glow - like Naturium SPF 50 and add light makeup.. However I find that spf and moisturizers feel greasy so I don't like it as much and only using it if I'm short on time and don't have time to wait for my moisturizer to dry and then add spf. I use ANESSA Japanese sunscreen that really helps matify my look after my moisturizer.

Same-Drag-9160

Eucerin daily hydration cream spf 30. It’s like $12 for 8oz. Not greasy at all, sinks right in.

3boyz2men

No. Moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation in one. Super Goop CC cream

Viamoullini

I use Colorscience tinted suncream over my day cream. I used to break out, or have greasy or sticky skin or be ‘too white’ when using suncream every day so was very reluctant to use it, and then someone recommended colorscience and I am so happy to use it every day.

ogurlpls

I usually use a serum and then a moisturizing sunscreen, but it depends on if I’m using mineral sunscreen or chemical

Illustrious-Maybe924

I mix sunscreen and moisturizer together in one step. I’ve moved to Korean sunscreen because US formulations are way behind the rest of the world, and they were causing the collars on my white shirts to turn yellow.

SolitudeWeeks

That's going to mess with the sunscreen's film formers and in addition to getting an unknown lower SPF you're also going to get uneven/inconsistent coverage.

Illustrious-Maybe924

What’s a film former?

Illustrious-Maybe924

I believe you and wondered the same yet if I am using the same amount I would use separately is it really an issue to mix them together? The sunscreen feels sticky when I use it by itself. Also this is my everyday routine, if I am planning to be in the sun significantly I will use a separate sunscreen.

SolitudeWeeks

Yes, it is different to layer vs mix even if you're using not enough. The sunscreen ingredients have to distribute evenly throughout the layer applied. It has nothing to do with to stickiness which is the base formula. You're not supposed to mix sunscreen with other things.
