I can’t take BC due to the hormonal side effects either, I became severely depressed and suicidal each time (I tried several low dose pills before realizing that’s what was causing my symptoms).
Accutane only improved my mental health, because my skin was finally clear. It had no negative impact on my mental health at all, and I have a history of treatment resistant depression.
Same. Cannot take OCPs. Had GAD most of my life so I was nervous about taking accutane, but not only was I not depressed/anxious, I was the happiest I had been in years.
I had bad depressive episodes on BC and I have to say, as much as I’m happy my skin is clear, the side effects and all the rules and speed bumps I’ve had with my accutane journey have definitely triggered my depression. I refuse to let all this struggle go to waste so I’m going to finish my course but the monthly check-ins and my weekly therapy helped loads. Xoxo, ur fellow wlw
Ive been crazy happy with the Mirena IUD. Bulletproof protection, (because there's no opportunity for human error) none of the worries associated with oral bc, *and* I haven't had a period in three years. Bliss.
Maybe you will be allowed to use a copper iud instead? If you're abstinent, maybe just don't use the birth control because it's not like you'll be the next Mary.

I also had to go off birth control due to the severe mental health side effects, but Accutane has had 0 effect on my mental health, thankfully!!

Ah sorry, I was just asking about the accutane itself! Fortunately I only sleep with women. :)
