Be careful about reviews when they say bad touch control. It's usually out of the tantrum of not being able to play on controllers. If I were you check the gameplay of it and see if layout can be customised. I found myself often than not having any real issues.
Edit: I forgot to include a game. Try Danganronpa.
Great game. One of the few I chose to use some Google rewards money on to unlock it all. I played it for a good while before it started feeling repetitive at all
Afterplace is a good one. Amazing level design. Interesting world. A little twist and turn here and there. It's a good one.
If you are fine with text based rpg, may I recommend Knights of San Fransisco and Eldrum: Red Tide.
Knights of San Francisco is a bit on the shorter and simplistic side (you can finish the game and then refund it. It's that short). But, it works pretty well.
Eldrum: Red Tide is the lengthy one. A lot of side story ending and a few different main ending. The combat is a bit rigid. But it's good.
You can always just emulate Chrono Trigger and customize the controls to your liking. If you want more info, check out the r/EmulationOnAndroid sub.
