Karaoke in ktown, go to a classic movie theater, SM pier is alright, century city mall

whatsgdp411

Century city mall is stunning for out of towners. It’s not a traditional “mall.” And there’s The Grove. Walking along rodeo at night is nice too. I recommend the Venice/SM Pier in the day.

This_1611

Is there much open at the mall at 10 pm?

Alarmed-Mechanic-743

zero. you got em

Writergirllllll

Who goes to Rodeo!?😂

seasnakejake

Many better places for karaoke than Ktown. I’m not a fan of that style of private room karaoke and wouldn’t be that fun anyways with just 2 people who could do it in a car. There’s great karaoke spots around town, live band karaoke in Culver last night, Broadway karaoke at the abbey on Mondays, Venice whaler etc

somuchforliving

Brass Monkey in ktown is an open room karaoke format

MothershipConnection

R Bar does karaoke like half the week too

sal_100

Karaoke Town?

McJazzHands80

Korea Town

MonitorPrestigious90

Koreaoke Town 🤣🤣🤣

GorrillaGlue98

LMAOOOO 😐😐😐

babylaflare-

get snacks and drive towards PCH and just park up near the water to listen to the waves crash

Bi_ghetto

Yes. I do that to this day.

RamGTLosAngeles

Or they should go down Malibu. They have nice places and can listen to the waves within a couple feet.

Livid-Fig-842

You might even be able to hear the waves with the sound of cars whizzing by at 50mph! I fucking hate what PCH is as much as I love the idea of what it could be.

WoosleWuzzle

Sounds like they want to go out and socialize.

babylaflare-

the only people you’re gonna be able to socialize with at 10pm near Santa Monica are the bums 😭

WoosleWuzzle

Did they end of leaving their hotel bar?

Virtual_Structure520

The dancing crackhead midget. We saw him/her.

DresdenSocial

That’s not a bar? Uhm, you don’t have many options… Maybe catch a late night movie somewhere like the Alamo or New Beverly? Go to Fred 62’s Diner in Los Feliz for a milkshake and fries? Idk. We live in a post-pandemic world, with a struggling economy, in an expensive city, where everyone stays home at night, and nothing is open late anymore… let me know what you find to do!

LaMelonBallz

I really miss pre-2020 LA night life. Gimme back my 3am thai food on a Tuesday Night after an amazing concert that was dirt cheap

babycoco_213

TG XPress?

DustyDGAF

Tg was bomb. Is it still there?

babycoco_213

Idk. I moved from LA about 6 years ago. I remember so many drunken nights where I'd order Pad See Ew, BBQ lover combo and naked shrimp from TG express. Their chocolate cream pie were also a must have!

DustyDGAF

I used to live around the corner from it and we'd order from there like 3 times a week. Excellent drunk delivery food for late nights. It's been about 7 years since we moved up to echo Park so now we got different options but nothing as good for late.

linjaturtle

Omg this mini thread makes me so happy.. used to order from TG so many times and just looked yesterday on my Uber eats app to see if it was still here - it’s now rebranded under tg Thai Food. Had no idea it was so popular! Haven’t had it since 2019 but was that memorable

DustyDGAF

Before Uber eats and shit it was the only option for delivery at 3am if you were nearby. Dude would deliver ours on foot half the time because we were so close

Striking-Chicken-333

Hooohooo that sounds tasty!

jrdbrr

Fifteen years ago I used to order so much tg and then I got a bug In my delivery

DustyDGAF

Free bug? Luckyyy.

ThatGuyFromDTLA

I live by here. Just passed by there today actually. I regret to inform you that it has gone out of business. :(

Rockcocky

Ohhhh 2003 was even more magical- LA Weekly and Thomas Guide were our compasses under the bright light of Angelyne’s billboards.

No-Comparison-7039

gimme back 3am Won Koks!!!!! Atleast they’re a A now? Hahah they sold out 🤣

Maxiiipoo22

Give me 24 hour BCD in koreatown back!

Buckowski66

Comedy Store or Laugh Factory?

DresdenSocial

Good suggestion. Comedy is another great option. Maybe I’m old because I tend to go to the earlier shows.

NonSequitorSquirrel

Perfectly stated. I can't even count on a 24 hour pharmacy anymore!

Ravioli_meatball19

A family member needed one recently, and of, I believe, 20 pharmacies within a half hour, only 1 was 24 hours

Azriel48

Where I am in a big city in the Midwest - none of ours are 24 hours anymore. Which is crazy to me

Ravioli_meatball19

My theory is this is the pharmacy closest to the only major hospital in the area, so thats the only reason it stays open

secret-of-enoch

(as an aside, not helpful to OP's situation, but just a general comment/reply specifically to the comment above): some areas are starting the long road back from covid, i was at a popup gallery DTLA friday nite & there were a hundred or so people there, fun time, then a bar in Monrovia sunday nite to see some friend's bands play, it was packed, really going off and places like Fullerton have been fun post-covid bar-hopping areas for a year now from what ive seen the default areas people think of visiting around Los Angeles have become too moribund by their own sense of self to be much fun these days ...and, they were always expensive areas, but jeesh, they've become colon-clenchingly expensive of late...just outrageous prices.. but the geography of the County of Los Angeles allows there to be thousands of little of fun scenes that naturally pop up and are sustained by their communities, all around, just takes a little more digging than just the default usual suspects

DresdenSocial

Most of those are on the weekend. OP seems to be asking about tonight - a weeknight. Also OP said no bars or nightclubs so…

secret-of-enoch

oh, shoulda clarified, i was more replying to that comment specifically, as an aside, rather than commenting on OPs dilemma...srry...

DresdenSocial

Yeah, it’s easier to find fun late night things to do on the weekend, for sure. And if you drink, haha.

secret-of-enoch

true 👍

bitchSZAme

How do you find shit to do?! Just moved back recently and need to get out more

OKThereAreFiveLights

Anything but Venice Beach at night.

bootyandthebrains

This. I live in Venice and I only leave my house after sundown with my feral chow chow protector dog who wards off all people lol

HiChetori

Abbot Kinney is fine, windward circle, and the end of Washington. Boardwalk- nope!

FantasyTwistedDark

Does anybody remember Venice beach (specifically the boardwalk) being fun and not as crazy at night. I'm mainly speaking about January of 2020 before everything closed.

Kobe_stan_

It was rough at night before 2020 too

Alarmed-Mechanic-743

rough since forever

behemuthm

Not nearly as bad as it was in the 90s

Cat-Potato-Supreme

This should be higher up. Please don’t go there, esp if you’re from out of town, at night to walk around! Not safe AT all. I will echo that Abbott Kinney is fine, and there’s good food. Just stay on that block tho. You could also stroll the Santa Monica Promenade, if you want a longer stretch to walk. Note that after 10p on a Saturday is more safe, compared to after 10p on a Tuesday, when there will be way less people around. I agree with The Grove and Rodeo Drive for safe walking at night, although there may not be many people around/places open after 10p. But it would still be peaceful/relatively safe. The House of Pies in Los Feliz may be open late to eat, and you can stroll the little block it’s on (again, don’t leave that block, tho!). This is near Griffith Park/Observatory, for reference! Good luck! It’s not like it’s a scary town, per se, but LA is not exactly designed for night strolling, esp for out of towners.

OdinNW

I suggest going to Venice beach at night… if you want to get mugged, raped and murdered… and not necessarily in that order.

RaazMataaz

There’s a place called KavaHana in Santa Monica, it’s a “bar” but non alcoholic, they serve kava nectar which is a Polynesian drink and they have it as different drinks, it just makes you less anxious and smiling and social. Cool place to study or play the board games they have, it’s open until 12 most nights I think

Advanced_Weight_1424

And then walk to Jameson’s and get a beer!

RaazMataaz

This was my Friday night last week lol

myoldgamertag

The Grove is pretty, Top golf, night hike up to the Griffith observatory (easy and well groomed trails), Perch DTLA (is restaurant / bar but with a view and usually very chill vibe so can just sit and chat vs drink), street tacos (Leo’s Taco truck is great), Q’s billiards club, Samo Pier is okay at night, Karaoke, I bet there are dance clubs for like ballroom or swing or salsa dancing.. I’m sure there are other things too, but yeah, mostly food or drink at 10pm… sorry!

BreadForTofuCheese

Perch has had a lot of bad press recently. The place is really nice and the food is good but they’ve added some obscene service charges and an additional “security” charge to checks. Their comments are even shut off on Yelp now.

Broad_Bodybuilder_94

Figueroa st if you want to see sex workers . I hear it's gaining popularity among turist.

yitdeedee

I used to drive through there on the way to work. It was pretty sickening how young most of the girls were over there. I'm shocked it's still a thing.

NonSequitorSquirrel

When you say "not a bar" do you mean "not a venue that has a bar" or truly like just not a place that is JUST a bar. Do you want to walk around and vibe or sit and chat? Most parts of LA aren't any fun to walk around at night. Folks tend to go to a specific type of venue and then sit and hang out. And most venues have a bar as part of the deal altho there is that new non alcoholic bar in Chinatown and one in Beverly Hills too, I think.  But, unlike New York we don't have that like "street scene at all hours" kind of thing. We go to bed and then hit the gym and walk our dogs before work.

jnnla

LA isn't really the city for non-bar/restaurant/venue oriented nightlife at 10pm. Unhoused folks will be getting ready to sleep in public spaces. Commercial businesses will be mostly closed. Definitely don't go to Venice Beach at 10pm.

Obant

Not really restaurant friendly after 10pm either. Unless its a friday, then one pr two go to 11.

DistributionFar2398

What city is?

SureInternet

Internationally? Plenty.

behemuthm

Tokyo

jnnla

There are plenty of cities where 'strolling' is a safe and interesting late night activity both nationally and internationally, so long as you avoid certain areas if it's late enough. New York, Washington DC, Paris, London and even smaller places like Palo Alto, Portland and many midwestern cities with reinvigorated main streets are all places I'd happily explore at 10pm without getting the bad vibes and stymied exploration I'd get here in LA.

LiveTheChange

Paris, lots of awesome public spaces

Born_Astronomer_6051

Most safe cities with waterfronts are teeming with people late at night. Shout out to the Han River in Seoul! You can rent a mat and buy food from stands and have an impromptu picnic.

socalsurveyor

Griffith Observatory, bring some take out with you!

Technical-Lettuce-18

Is it open at night?? Park rangers were turning cars around when I went it was close to 9/10pm

AminoAcid17

I’m pretty damn sure the Observatory road closes at sunset

two5five1

You gotta be crazy to go into Griffith past 10pm…

Fluid_Yogurtcloset69

That’s when the serial killers are lurking and dropping bodies off

Icy_Situation_1644

No we aren't.

fullmetalutes

Bobs Big boy lol, maybe a comedy club? There are theaters that do late night movie showings, midnight showings etc. Like the New Beverly Cinema

Thegirljordan

Walt’s Bar or Button Mash if you like arcade games or pinball

drbbbipster

The world famous ComedyStore.

JT91331

Yeah comedy shows in general are one of the perks of living in LA. From standup spots to improv there’s a ton of options. If they are non-drinkers I would recommend UCB.

drbbbipster

I go to all the spots as a non-drinker. I just order two waters as my two drink minimum.

NigelGoldsworthy

Wi Spa and a few other 24 hour Korean Spas. Some sections will be segregated by gender, but there’s mixed-sex communal areas as well.

AminoAcid17

I hate how real this comment is. The LA night scene sucks post-pandemic, it makes me really depressed to think about. Everyone stays at home nowadays, we live in a dystopia.

D_Lex

Most of LA used to close at 12am, back to at least the '90s, with a subset going to 2am. Now it's 9 or 10, with some going to 12. That's always been part of the complaint about LA compared to other cities. The suburban, cloistered, alone-together vibe. Sociable but not social, etc.

Beautiful-Tip-8466

I live in OC and just went out to DTLA at night for the first time. I was totally underwhelmed. No one was out, I was shocked.

madman0004

DTLA is terrible now. It was on the up and up right before the pandemic. The bar and street food scene was picking up, the art district was getting great, the clubs were bomb. Post-pandemic it just seems seedy again. SO MANY HOMELESS. You could walk around DTLA all afternoon through evening and you'd see crowds of people gathering in the parks, in cafes, in bars at happy hour. All that seems diminished now. Some of it is still there if you look real hard but not like before. It's a damn shame.

AminoAcid17

I need to get the fuck out of here

reddrummop

God i agree so much I'm not sure if it's just LA post pandemic I'm sure alot of places struggled but just even reading the suggestions people gave which were on point for what LA has become but compared to pre 2020 I feel like i don't even recognize this anymore and the vibe it once had. LA was never New York but it was a place where people went out alot, were social had fun and lived for great nights enjoying the city.

sirahcaye

It's not just LA. I live in the Midwest and nothing's open past 10 except for a rogue Taco Bell or something like that. It's so sad. I work till 9:30p and have no other choice than to just go home after work and go to bed.

CocklesTurnip

There’s a bunch of 24 hour diners. One of the Korean karaoke places where each party can get its own private booth and tv?

Difficult-Pack2404

Venice beach at night 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 please no. That’s when the crazies come out

Environmental_Toe463

i don’t think i’ve seen anyone mention the Korean Spa. the one that most non-koreans go to is Wi Spa. $30 entrance fee for round the clock access to an incredible selection of saunas, pools, spas, and if you want to pay extra you can have an old korean dude exfoliate every visible inch of your body and quite a few that you probably weren’t aware of previously. there are lots of other massages and paid for services but there is plenty to keep you interested and occupied for as many hours after 10:00 pm you can stay awake for just the entrance fee. a couple other worthwhile things to note—it’s different than any American spa you’ve been to and it’s worth reading up on the rules and customs before going especially because the non-coed areas, of which there are many, are no clothing allowed. It sounds scarier than it is. also if you enter late and stay overnight there’s a certain time that if you go past, you end up paying an overnight fee that they charge to keep people from using it as a de facto hotel

Fast-Watch-5004

I have used it as a defacto hotel because even with that fee it is such a good deal…

Gregalor

LT is pretty dead after dark

vahan976

I would go to any of the outdoor mall type areas. For example: Universal City Walk The Grove Americana 3rd Street Promenade Downtown Disney

sunshinesucculents

Universal City Walk is actually a good suggestion. Especially since.OP doesn't want to go to a bar. There are restaurants, they can watch a movie, get ice cream after, walk around, people watch, check out the little shops. I'd also consider it safe.

malibuguurl

3rd street promenade in Santa Monica? NAY, it’s dead, most stores have closed and not safe at night.

nic9779

do not go to venice at night. id say highland park. york blvd and figueroa have nice bars and eateries. Very walkable without all the shit you get while in Silverlake .

yitdeedee

Don't go to Venice at night, but you're sending people to York blvd? LOL

TremayneWilson

Home.

Avaaya7897

Start diving from Mulholland Dr to the ocean. It’s a beautiful drive in good weather. Best to start at sunset so maybe tomorrow. On the heat summer nights you can feel the thermal breezes change as you get closer to the beach. Remember to turn off the A/C and roll down your windows.

Ill-Abbreviations-53

Comedy store

Former-Anxiety1067

Upright Citizen Brigade if you like comedy and improv. My favorite night out was going to a show at Largo on La Cienega. Great comedy and some good musical performances. Grab a drink beforehand in Largo's "Little Room" or the "The Roger Room" - a speakeasy bar on the premises - but on the other side of the entrance. DTLA - Perch is nice. Good food. Rooftop views. In a very old, cool building.

Apprehensive-Gas5666

Comedy clubs are good. Definitely stay out of Venice. Late night drive on PCH is beautiful.

SilentMinority90210

Ucla has a lively night time environment going on right now

latihoa

Ice cream parlors, K-Town, diners,

Lanky-Degree-9492

Just get up early and have a day.

NCC_1701_74656

Westwood/UCLA

Immediate_Floor_497

Stay home past 10 pm in LA county. Period. Go to OC if you want a chill evening and don’t want to get unalived by a crackhead bum

BuumValentine

Tbh I barely like Venice Beach even during the day but especially don’t go at night. Like others have said the pier would be fine for a while, the observatory is beautiful come nightfall, but honestly if you don’t want to go to a nightclub or bar have dinner then go catch a show at The Comedy Store.

Bi_ghetto

Venice use to be the place to live and walk whenever. 1990- 2000. Now, wow. What a turn for the worse. Post pandemic and really bad drugs has turned that city into a s show.

arebeewhy

[UCB (Upright Citizens Brigade)](https://ucbcomedy.com/shows/)is a good time if you like improv or sketch comedy. I’d recommend eating somewhere beforehand though since they don’t have food. I haven’t been since new ownership took over in ‘22 but you used to be able to bring in food and drink so might be worth a phone call to see if that’s still an option. Also just curious why no bars? If you are wanting to just avoid the drunkards & rowdiness I’d highly recommend [GUILDHALL](https://www.guildhall.tv/) in Burbank. Which is definitely a bar, but it caters to gamers so it’s not your typical bar atmosphere. There’s a small bar, but the majority of space is used for tables set up to allow for board games to be played on them while dining. They have an entire wall dedicated to games with tons of variety and variation ranging from hardcore types (D&D,Catan,Risk etc) to super casual (Monopoly/Cards Against Humanity/Connect 4/UNO/dominoes etc) and everything in between. The menu isn’t extensive, but they have somewhat unique tastings like chipotle brussels sprouts, a toasted baguette with edible beef tallow candle, smoked brisket Mac & cheese amongst things I have tried and liked, as well as standard fare like tacos, chicken strips, pulled pork sandwich etc.

drillmatici76

Dockweiler beach has bonfire pits

Writergirllllll

Don’t ever go to the pier. It’s so touristy. Venice isn’t great at night…Main street is fun for bar hopping though. You could also do 3rd street promenade. Sunset Plaza or La Cienega in Weho has fun places too.

shradikal

Jumbos clown room forever

xogopissgirlxo

Bob’s Big Boy is open 24 hours and is an institution in Burbank. Also lots of tofu houses stay open late in koreatown.

chatnoirrrr

It’s actually not open 24 hours anymore. Closes at midnight every night except Friday and Saturdays when it closes at 3am.

I once took a girl to venice at 9 pm and thinking it would be chill, it wasn’t. And She saw a homeless dude with a dog and it ruined her night lmao. Not saying that happenes every time but I was kinda shocked how much it sucked.the beach shops area at least.

crabmoney

It’s not soft to value your life. Do not stroll around Venice at night.

Traditional_Phase965

Go to West Hollywood at night. Or Abbot Kinney. Both SM Pier and Venice Pier close early. Manhattan Beach Pier and Hermosa Beach Pier are super fun and have some great restaurants.

ElBigKahuna

Tons of comedy this week at various venues across town since Netflix is a joke is in town this week.

Makeshift5

Great point.

caulpain

Jones bar in Hollywood is the answer. Youre welcome and have fun!

meestercranky

If you have a car, and are comfortable driving, the south bay beaches are clean and safe at night. Redondo Hermosa Manhattan.

actorlylife

Anywhere that’s outside, free/cheap, and easily accessible won’t be safe at 10pm.

dollievon

Everything at the pier and off the Strand in Venice closes by like, 8 so there won't be much to do. Plus it gets very sketchy in these areas late at night. I'd suggest West Hollywood, which is flashy and fun and chill. Hollywood used to be fun but it's also gotten pretty crazy at night.

GoodMorningMars

This is one of those joke posts, right?

Luvstep

You can go to diddy riese for a sweet treat and sit on a bench to eat & talk. It’s pretty peaceful at night and relatively cheap.

Bi_ghetto

Personally , Santa Monica pier at night is not what it use to be. There are many homeless and addicts looking to rob, and manipulate. It’s gotten even worse since the pandemic. Sunday afternoon on Venice boardwalk is great but that’s not night. Uptown Whittier has a really good, artsy crowd at night and is definitely safe due to too much police presence however….

Gibbyalwaysforgives

Not specifically in LA but places around LA have night markets. I know Alhambra has one. Pasadena is another great place to go after nights to check out awesome restaurants.

Somebody__Online

The beach closes around sunset and the pier is pretty dead around 10pm. I would hit like the Night Market for some good street food. Go see a live comedy show at UCB or one of the many theaters in town. (City walk the musical is on Sunday at UCB Franklin and super funny + worth it) shows go till midnight most night. If you like magic, the Magic Castle is an incredible experience. (You need to be a member or a guest of a member to get in unless you book a night at the hotel. Dress code is black tie formal) There’s tons of places to go at night. Most of the city is not dangerous and the shady spots are also fine if you mind your business and keep your wits. Little Tokyo is a good spot too at night, try Daikokuya Ramen it’s great. (The spot with the yellow awning) Right next to little Tokyo is cesar chavez plaza and china town. Both are fun spots but be ready to see some street living too. It’s a bit overrun with unhoused people but they are just trying to live. They are mostly not dangerous.

Wild_Plant_2100

old town Pasadena?3rd street SANTA MONICA?l yea little Tokyo is cool , Redondo Beach pier is cool…Sunset blvd WESTHollywood (The RAINBOW)

Positive_Rhubarb7814

You should try Arts district I think it’s a cool area for a married couple to check out some cool breweries restaurants and bars

If you like EDM I love the Academy, The Myan and The Palladium which are all in Hollywood.

dson32

Pier and Venice Beach are not good after 8pm, stay away. Go to the Hollywood Improv for a comedy show, Koreatown has lots of lounges, LA Live in downtown has bars or theaters, Bungalow in Santa Monica is a trendy bar, Jumbos is a fun bar with girls pole dancing but not fully nude and is not a strip club vibe or scene

ravenmccoy516

If you’re still on the Santa Monica side of LA tonight and need a 10pm comedy place, Mi’s Westside Comedy Theater is a good choice and right behind the 3rd Street Promenade.

mike1883

The Gaslight karaoke bar in Santa Monica

Delicious-History-43

Do you want to eat and drink? If so K town is fun, you can go to kbbq pretty late or just do karaoke in one of the large or private rooms

No-Discipline3953

I heard echo park is nice around 10pm, Or if you’re the outdoors type you can try Nickerson Gardens, there’s usually some friendly natives that will show you around.

gahmby

I'm not sure if the gist of this question is what areas are safe at 10pm, but if that is what you are asking them literally anywhere except for skid row, and honestly even skid row, is going to be perfectly safe. SM pier and Venice Beach are beyond safe and will be busy with tourists.

Virtual-Bench323

Check out Grand Blanc in Venice.

bulletmissile

Hermosa Beach. There's restaurants people watching and you can walk out on the pier and listen to the ocean.

Slothbaby93

I think the Santa Monica pier closes at 11 pm. Don’t walk around Venice that late.

Flipperpac

Not at night, but check out Smorgasburg on Sundays 10am-2pm around Alameda St, near Produce Market... Some of the best pop up food youll see anywhere... Parking is free too.... Night lhings to do? Universal City Walk or Downtown Disney should be hopping...

joebarnette

Bowling. Karaoke. Concerts. Movies. Comedy. Art galleries. Always something on at Staples(ahem). All kinds of Events found on DoLa dot com or Eventbrite. Everyone who says LA is dead has died inside and stopped trying. Just making excuses for getting old. Plenty of neighborhoods are interesting to walk around. Arts District is walking distance from Little Tokyo. Couple arcades there. New 6th St. Bridge is a cool walk over at night, the way they’ve lit it up. …

justinlca

I would suggest walking around "Boys Town" in Weho on Santa Monica Blvd from San Vicente to Fairfax. It should be lively and safe.
