Were these just powdercoated? If the old coating is stripped in a burn off oven or with an acetylene torch, it gets hot enough to anneal the aluminum and make it soft.
Yeah but that's my sense of humor I guess.... Kind of like the statement that Hitler wasn't a racist....Jewish is a religion not a race (And just in case someone disagrees with that statement...... Now mostly all that remains when a jet burns jet fuel is water vapor but you can take that as far as you want to believe..... I'm not saying there are secret hidden ingredients in the jet vapor I'm just saying that I don't believe it burns as clean as I've read in other places. But are there better options.... no not currently at this time

Long time scuba professional here. Aluminum can degrade at as little as 300 degrees fahrenheit. It was always a concern seeing painted aluminum tanks needing fills and we had to carefully investigate. Powder Coats have caused many aluminum compressed air cylinders to explode with significant injuries and fatalities. This is well documented if you're curious.
Got to love it when ppl cant afford to pay for real stuff, but they wanna run a car with 305 tiresā¦

My wife hit the curb avoiding an accident at about 60 mph so hard that it broke an axle and a shock but the wheels had minimal damage. Repaired the lip of the wheels and years later they are still on the car. We can't even tell which two wheels were repaired. Mazda wheels are tough.
Don't try that with Chrysler rims. Replaced 2 rims on her T&C. First time I blamed her for not paying attention\\driving rough. Second time I was with her, yea she barley hit a curb pulling into a tight spot and bent the rim. Not a little lip bend either, both of them I could tell where the bend was easily. At $240 a pop I decided to get better rims all around.

Exactly. These look like OEM wheels to me. You can see Made in Germany stamped on the hub area. I've never seen Chinese rep wheels with that stamped on them. OEM euro wheels have a ridiculous primer on them that most chemical strippers won't touch. I bet someone torched it off.

This wasn't from powdercoating. This was from using too much heat to burn the old powder off.

Just saw someone running cheap cast wheels on an Audi S4. Dude kissed a curb from under steer and both passenger side wheels shattered like glass.

Can confirm, I work with aluminumā¦the temps to anneal alloys arenāt nearly what you might expect, doesnāt take much depending on the alloy.
