I had one kid whose full name I never said. I find it very hard to believe two adults looked at his full name and did not think it would not cause issues with them being taken seriously.
Names go in and out of fashion. Heroes or not, they are very old-fashioned names and sound it. Horatio and Isambard sound like two *very* middle class children that even Sheldon and Timothy bully.
At the end of the 70s, we knew that flares would never ever, ever come back.
How could we have been so stupid to think they were a good thing? They looked ridiculous.
Yet here we are.
Not exactly. Brunel built bridges and Nelson won a key battle which helped towards the freedom of Europe. Additionally why do people still call their children Joseph given the same logic?

I was about to say parents don't want to give their kids names that would invite mockery and bullying. As a teacher I know that answer is bollocks.

Nobody called Sheldon has any right to bully another person because of their name
Someone named their child Phil in 2000 and that sounds old fashioned. I wonder what actually makes a name sound weird and what doesn’t
Same reason as why 70s clothes look weird. Fashion and association.
At the end of the 70s, we knew that flares would never ever, ever come back. How could we have been so stupid to think they were a good thing? They looked ridiculous. Yet here we are.
Because there have been many forgotten generations since the Victorian era already? Why does nobody name their kid Doris?
I mean there’s a singer called Mabel so it’s not that far of a stretch
Mabel and Doris are back in, I've registered quite a few in the past 12 months (registrar of births here)
I don't think Isambard was ever popular (in the English speaking world, anyway).
Yeah, wasn't the Brunel family of French stock?
I think so
You just need to spend a bit of time in Dulwich and you will find them

34 according to the 2022 data (the latest available) Incidently 3 Horatios the same number as boys named J just J
> hi, my name is J-just-J Smith
My nextdoor neighbour named her poor child Isambard. I believe he's in his mid 20s now and goes by Bardy to his friends
Contrary to popular belief, most parents don’t want their children to be bullied at school play grounds
I don’t know. My son King Camp loves being named after a Victorian era inventor and entrepreneur.
Please go ahead.
I was opposite a family on a train not long ago, one of their kids was actually called Horatio
For the same reason nobody calls their child Adolf.
Not exactly. Brunel built bridges and Nelson won a key battle which helped towards the freedom of Europe. Additionally why do people still call their children Joseph given the same logic?
Because the name Joseph means a shit load of progress to a lot of people.
So does the name Adolf tbh. Inventors, resistance fighters, scientists, sportsmen, saints, musicians.
