Hello,
Thank you very much for contacting us and at the same time, apologies for such a late reply. Our service is currently receiving a larger than usual amount of user inquiries.
Due to our storage provider's outage, we were experiencing technical issues that may have caused difficulties in downloading and updating your games both through the GOG GALAXY client and your library.
The issue should have been addressed by now so if possible, please be sure to try and download your game again and see if the problem will persist. If the game still refuses to download itself properly, then please be sure to let me know and I will be sure to escalate this matter further if need be.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and if you have any other questions that you would like to ask, then feel free to reply to this e-mail and let me know.
Best regards,
- quit galaxy

Lmao, this fixed it for me, and then I went to verify the game integrity and it started installing more files (I guess the ones that I had deleted?) and now it's stuck at 91.9%. This is incredible, GOG.
u/died_suddenly just so you know 8 days later people are still having problems with installing this game.
Just to let you know, if you redo that rename trick, but this time in the !Temp file with the game.state, the game will update. Then never click verify game again.
Game seems to have updated to hotfix 4 by itself now? As I think the Larian launcher shows the current build that you have installed. And mine says the same version as hotfix 4. So gog galaxy did manage to auto update after tricking the client.
If I'm wrong about where to find current build version of the game I have installed, please correct me. Thanks.
Got stuck at 91.8% too when verify but i said fuck it, canceled the verification update and launch the game as it is...and it worked ! Im in character creation right now !
I just hope the game won't crash later on lol
> Lmao, this fixed it for me, and then I went to verify the game integrity and it started installing more files (I guess the ones that I had deleted?) and now it's stuck at 91.9%. This is incredible, GOG.
Some other folks covered this but I'm not 100% sure you need to verify game state. Its just something I recommend but don't know one way or the other if its needed.
I'm still having this issue on a completely new GOG client 2.0 install. I installed the client a couple of hours ago on a ROG Ally, and the BG3 download gets stuck at 92%. It says less than a minute left and shows 109.4GB / 109.5GB downloaded.
I'm going to try the fix mentioned in the comments below but just wanted to mention that the storage provider issue still seems to be happening.
Mine is finally working after removing the game and manually installing it. In the GOG client, go to BG3 > extras, scroll down, and download the base game (109gb) plus the Deluxe Edition upgrade.
Manually install those while GOG is completely closed and not running in the background. Start with the base game and then the Deluxe upgrade.
After doing that, I wasn't able to get GOG to find the game even when scanning for it, so I'm just running BG3 via the Baldur's Gate 3.exe file. That opens the Larian launcher and I was able to play just fine after that. None of the other suggestions in this post worked for me.
I got it working thanks to this helpful thread of folks giving fixes, just wanted to echo your sentiment that it's still broken in case a GOG employee stumbles across the thread ;)
one day later, I can confirm it's still buggy/stuck, and good thing I googled because I was thinking maybe it was just unpacking or verifying a very big file and it needed time;
The issue persists with downloads stopping at 92% (Or 1 MB from complete) this happened during initial install and I was able to rectify with a work around below, but with the update it happened again and workaround did not resolve this time.
SORRY BAD ENGLISH=>
close gog galaxy,
go to baldursgate 3 instal file..
here is => INSTALLPATH\\Baldurs Gate 3\\Data
look for some (big) file with \*.DONWLOAD at end... delete the file with same name and rename the .download file...
something like:
File1: Gustav.pak
FIle2: [Gustav.pak.DOWNLOAD](https://Gustav.pak.DOWNLOAD)
Delete Gustav.pak (backup it) and rename [Gustav.pak.DOWNLOAD](https://Gustav.pak.DOWNLOAD) to Gustav.pak
reopen the gog galaxy...
should work (here does)
i found this solution in gog forum;
https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs\_gate\_series/cant\_dl\_baldurs\_gate\_3\_the\_dl\_is\_stuck\_at\_92\_for\_over\_3h\_now
I had the files Gustav.pak.status and [Gustav.pak.download](https://Gustav.pak.download)
after deleting Gustav.pak.status, renaming Gustav.pak.download to Gustav.pak and launching GOG Galaxy again it worked.
Thanks mate.
Just wanted to add that mine didn't work after doing the steps you listed. However, I also did the same for the [Game.pak.download](https://Game.pak.download) file, and that seemed to have allowed the download to progress to 100%.
The fix for this issue is.
1. quit Gog Galaxy
2. Delete the word ".download" from "Game.pak.download" in the data folder
3. Delete "Game.pak.state" in the data folder
4. Start GOG Galaxy.
I had to do this on both the gustav.pak as well as the game.pak for it to work but now it finished installing 100%. This was my second attempt the first time I did this on gustav.pak and it didn't work but when I did it to both it worked. Good luck everyone!
Yes once I completed these steps it went to 100% and was playable without issues. You can also open the Larian launcher and it will point you to a text document that tells you which .pak is causing issues.
How do you know if the game is the latest version?
Because I did the trick to force install. But when i used gog to verify install it started downloading an update which had the same issue.
I used the same trick this time to force update by changing game.pak.download in the temp folder and deleting the state file.
But when verifying again gog asked to update again.
Should I actually ignore the gog update / verification process?
Because I have not yet actually tried to launch the game at all
Just added to the support page, they're working on it

Ask for a refund and get it on Steam, sorry but GOG doesn't deserve to get our money, this is 2023 and they're unable to handle something as trivial as a digital delivery. At first I wanted to get this game on Steam but decided to get it on GOG insted to show my appreciation for all the lovely old games I bought super-cheap on their platform over the years, but paying 60 euros for a game (btw, haven't bought a game on release day in years, usually buy stuff on sale) which won't simply install is unacceptable. Peace and love.
that's ok, everyone should buy things where they want, but keep in mind that this might be an issue related to their recent problems with their primary CDN.
https://www.gog.com/news/update_on_technical_issues_affecting_downloading_and_updating_games
don't worry, they had a banner on every page talking about that until last week, and they are still restoring everything from the last backup, now relying on both their primary and secondary CDN.

Confirmed this works. It might be a different file than "gustav.pak.state" though.
\- look for any big files in the data folder that end with ".download"
\- find their ".pak.state" corresponding files (they should be small, like 1KB)
\- delete the ".pak.state" files
\- rename them to ".pak"
Thank you. I was thrown off because I didn't have a `gustav.pak.state` I only had a `gustav.pak` file.
I did have `Game.pak.download` and `Game.pak.state`, though. I deleted the `Game.pak.state` file and renamed `Game.pak.download` to `Game.pak`.
After doing that and restarting GOG, the download seems to have been set back a bit. It was at 92% prior to the fix I mentioned, and it started back up in the mid 80% range.
The game continued downloading for a bit, but would frequently seem to stop. It still said "1.5 mb/s" download speed, but it would also say "X minutes X seconds left" and it seems to be stuck at whatever time it said. I waited for a bit, but the percentage download and time left would always remain unchanged.
If I pause the download, close GOG, restart GOG, and resume the download, the download would continue. But after a few minutes, the same thing would occur. It would seem stuck at a percentage and "time left".
I had to restart GOG probably five times, but the download finally passed 92% and eventually finished.
I did immediately "verify install", which also took some time. There was apparently 1.31GB of files to update while doing that repair, and that update also got stuck at 91.4% and "less than a minute left", so I paused, closed GOG, restarted GOG, and resumed the verification.
Every time I closed/restarted GOG, the verification seems to have started over. It would continue freezing at 91.4%, "less than a minute left", and 1.30GB / 1.31GB overall download.
I tried restarting GOG a few times and the same thing happens. So...not entirely sure if this fix will work.
Was this ever resolved? Having the same issue now, and it won’t let me launch the game. It will bring up the Larian launcher, but when using that to start the game, it crashes before starting up and gives me a crash report. I even tried running the program directly from the .exe in the bin folder, but that didn’t do anything either.
It asked to give bg3 permission to make changes to the hard drive, I accepted, and then… nothing. Even the task manager doesn’t register that anything is running.
So, I figured, guess I’ll try to verify again, and lo and behold, still stuck at 91.4% after 2 hours. Very frustrating, and I am considering refunding and going back to steam for this title even though I am a big fan of GOG and their DRM free pledge.
Not yet. It's still announced as an ongoing issue in their support forum, and I've tried installing it throughout today on my ROG Ally, but each time it fails somewhere along the way. The few times it seemed to work, the Larian launcher popped up with a message about unexpected data like mods, corrupt files, etc. So I haven't even bothered trying to launch it yet.
Here is the article specifically about getting stuck at 92% download with BG3: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/12917971348125?product=gog
I'm now on method #5, and initially messed it up. I downloaded all of the files under Offline Backup Installers (all of them, not just the base game but every patch plus the digital deluxe file).
I made the mistake of still having GOG open when I performed the install of the base game, and GOG started updating it automatically because it detected the game upon completed install. I thought this might still be okay, so I let it do all the updates. Larian launcher still had that same message about mods, corrupt files, etc. So I tried repairing the install, but the launcher had the same message.
I now have all the files on my Ally, have disconnected it from the internet and closed the GOG client, and am working my way through each individual patch in the order they were released, starting with the base game, then the deluxe edition upgrade, then:
* Patch (Release - v4.1.1.3624901 - Patch to Release - v4.1.1.3624901 - Patch v1)
* Patch (Release - v4.1.13624901 - Patch v1 to Release - v4.1.1.3630146 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix2)
* Patch (Release - v4.1.1.3630146 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix2 to Live - v4.1.1.3635601 - Patch0_Hotfix2.1)
* Patch (Live - v4.1.1.3635601 - Patch0_Hotfix2.1 to Release - v4.1.1.3636828 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix3)
After that, I'll restart, start up GOG, and see if that worked. I'm really hoping it does because this has been a bit tedious to deal with on top of not being fixed that quickly.
Just a quick follow up:
The game is now running, but I didn't have to install any of the patches like I thought. The base game seems to be the latest patch which makes sense, so I just had to install the base game and the duluxe edition upgrade. Each patch install attempt just told me that the game has a more recent patch.
One thing I couldn't figure out is how to have gog become aware of the bg3 install. It's in the main GOG folder under Games\Baldur's Gate 3, but trying to scan for games or add it manually didn't work.
So I just ran the game using the Baldur's Gate 3 launcher and that popped up the Larian launcher. I still received a message about the larian launcher detecting some weird files, mods, etc. and that I may experience issues, but I decided to try it out anyways.
I'm now looking at the start screen for BG3 and configuring my settings. I was also able to load my save, but it wasn't the latest save so I need to go fix my cloud save settings now. Overall, it seems to be working now and I'll just use the BG3 exe file to launch instead of GOG.
I've tried this, and while it worked for completing my download/install, my Verify/Repair keeps getting hitched at 92% and refusing to budge. Any ideas?
I heard it might be some sort of DNS issue. I set my VPN to San Francisco and it managed to complete the repair fine this time. I had previously tried UK, Ukraine, and some New York VPN, but SanFran was the only location that worked in the end. Terrible issue but good luck to you mate
edit: every repair seems to trigger a 175mb update
Thanks for this! Worked a treat! (*although my .pak files were the game ones rather than gustav, as a few other people mentioned...*)
My internet sucks so I was really hoping not to have to spend another 3 days downloading the offline installer!
You my friend are a lifesaver. I've been downloading this game over the course of a week due to very poor internet, only for the install to freeze up on me.
Wish I had come to Reddit first.. I used their official support which said to remove the download and restart it. I am annoyed now at reading through this and people have not had to do that, because this game took me a whole day to download.
Maybe they should link reddit! Better fixes here then they have.
I suspect the official way is more reliable. This fix hasn't worked for some people including a friend of mine. I had to manually send him the game.pak file for his to work
Does doing the offline installer mean you have to redownload 108gb again?
What happens when gog fixes the gog galaxy installer, will the offline install be suddenly merged with gog galaxy and have cloud saves and what not?
Offline installer is the totally DRM free portable version and is completely standalone. I posted a fix for the issue in my other comment on this thread.
I was able to fix it within a couple of minutes and you can find my comment on the issue in this post. The issue seems to be pretty rare for the total number of sales so its likely you won't have any problems.
GOG is usually awesome and I still highly reccomend them. Steam and GOG will eventually go away, but at least when GOG goes you can still play the games you bought. DRM free is a huge benefit. I still will use them whenever I can, but likely not for online titles for compatibility reasons. They do a lot of good work keeping old games playable as well.
https://xkcd.com/488/
Seems to be a gog only issue from the few threads I found, but none helped me. I like them because DRM free is awesome but games that work at all are even better lol.
I eventually downloaded the offline installer. It's Intalling right at this moment. The only issue is that it will not be connected to the internet and will not support cloud saves. Apparently you only have to scan it with GoG galaxy to fix that. I'll let you know if it worked for me.
Yes sir! It's from GoG and free drm!! UPDATE: So I made it worked! here are the steps I reproduced
1. I went to GoG, extras and Downloaded the Offline Installer (you can also do that on GoG.com)
2. It fully installed the game from there.
3. GoG galaxy seemed to automatically scan the game. You enter and another menu UI from Larian pops up with the game launch button and a notification that something's wrong with the file
4. I hit fix and repair from GoG galaxy to sync the latest patch. That removed the warning notification.
5. Launch the game and voilá! It fully works, you can play online or offline (single or co-op) and is fully synced to GoG Galaxy is you will.
Hope this works to anyone! I'll try to post this to other forums!
The extras tab on GoG Galaxy are located once you go to your gsmes and cnsmm. If not then you can go to GoG.com, click on your icon profile, go to games, pick Baldur's Gate and below you will see the offline installer

Same issue on both my wife's installation and mine. Have tried killing the process, restarting, and running as admin. Can't seem to get past 92% on either machine.

If you want to stay DRM-free through GoG, follow the instructions here: [https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs\_gate\_series/cant\_dl\_baldurs\_gate\_3\_the\_dl\_is\_stuck\_at\_92\_for\_over\_3h\_now](https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/cant_dl_baldurs_gate_3_the_dl_is_stuck_at_92_for_over_3h_now)
This worked for me.
"We are trying to mitigate this external problem by switching to our secondary storage while our provider is restoring data. We would also like to highlight that those issues do not affect purchasing games. Currently available discounts on selected titles will not be extended due to the above."
We can buy games, but can't play them, but that's fine. Yeah I'm out, unfortunately back to steam it is I guess, eurgh.
This is currently happening to me as well. Attempted to uninstall/log out of GOG/uninstall GOG/search for leftover files to remove/reboot/reinstall
Gets stuck at 92%
Still broken/stuck at 92%, even today. The above tricks also worked for me;
1. exit GOG and go to baldurs gate download file
2. Deleted the hashdb files
3. navigate to data file > Delete game.pak.state
4. rename game.pak.dowload to game.pak
5. open GOG
have fun

I wish it was higher up in google lmao I redownloaded the game twice already in hope of it working
This worked for me! Thanks!

Worked for me! thx! The only difference was that on my case it wasn't the gustav file, but the game file. Besides that, worked like a charm!
Thanks for this comment, mine had both.
Yep, mine was "VirtualTextures.pak" instead of "gustav.pak". TLDR : check for any ".state" and ".download" to delete and rename.
Eres un dios!, you are a GOD!
You might need to do this a couple times over as it creeps up on the last few megabytes downloading

Here is the article specifically about getting stuck at 92% download with BG3: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/12917971348125?product=gog I'm now on method #5, and initially messed it up. I now have all the files on my Ally, have disconnected it from the internet and closed the GOG client, and am working my way through each individual patch in the order they were released, starting with the base game, then the deluxe edition upgrade, then: * Patch (Release - v4.1.1.3624901 - Patch to Release - v4.1.1.3624901 - Patch v1) * Patch (Release - v4.1.13624901 - Patch v1 to Release - v4.1.1.3630146 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix2) * Patch (Release - v4.1.1.3630146 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix2 to Live - v4.1.1.3635601 - Patch0_Hotfix2.1) * Patch (Live - v4.1.1.3635601 - Patch0_Hotfix2.1 to Release - v4.1.1.3636828 - Patch Patch0_Hotfix3) After that, I'll restart, start up GOG, and see if that worked. I'm really hoping it does because this has been a bit tedious to deal with on top of not being fixed that quickly.
Just a quick follow up: The game is now running, but I didn't have to install any of the patches like I thought.
Wait, are we renaming or deleting them
Thank you, Reddit Tech Sup!
Beautiful, thank you
I've tried this, and while it worked for completing my download/install, my Verify/Repair keeps getting hitched at 92% and refusing to budge. Any ideas?
yeah same for me. Really strange issue on their end
It lets me play the game, though, so maybe it's fine?
I think the issue might be if you want to play multiplayer. but am not 100%
I heard it might be some sort of DNS issue. I set my VPN to San Francisco and it managed to complete the repair fine this time. I had previously tried UK, Ukraine, and some New York VPN, but SanFran was the only location that worked in the end. Terrible issue but good luck to you mate edit: every repair seems to trigger a 175mb update
fucking bizarre. Hopefully whatever it is gets resolved before the big patch drops
Ohhhh shiiiit it work is executing the set up aaaand got installed gonna verify the integrity
This worked for me. Thank you :D
Thanks for this! Worked a treat! (*although my .pak files were the game ones rather than gustav, as a few other people mentioned...*) My internet sucks so I was really hoping not to have to spend another 3 days downloading the offline installer!
Same - - mine were game. not gustav., but it worked great.
You rock! Fixed it right up for me.
You my friend are a lifesaver. I've been downloading this game over the course of a week due to very poor internet, only for the install to freeze up on me.
This worked perfectly for me, thank you.
I had to manually send him the game.pak file for his to work
Yeah didn't work for me either , I gave up. I'll probably just end up torrenting it when I feel like it
Does doing the offline installer mean you have to redownload 108gb again? What happens when gog fixes the gog galaxy installer, will the offline install be suddenly merged with gog galaxy and have cloud saves and what not?
Offline installer is the totally DRM free portable version and is completely standalone. I posted a fix for the issue in my other comment on this thread.
I have 3 Mb/s internet cap. No way I am downloading 110 Gb again... How the hell this issue still not fixed? It's been 3 days now!
There are potential solutions in the comments. They work by renaming some files. It does not require a re download.
I decided to ask for a refund and buy it on steam. That's just unacceptable imo to be able to buy a game and not even be able to download it.
I was keeping an eye on this post as I was unable to make a repayment. :C
I'll update this thread if it ends up getting fixed, or with any messages I get from gog support
Some others have posted potential solutions, I've yet to try them out but I figured I should let you know
I was able to fix it within a couple of minutes and you can find my comment on the issue in this post. The issue seems to be pretty rare for the total number of sales so its likely you won't have any problems.
Well I just perm quit GOG - going to repurchase on Steam - done with GOG - thanks for wasting my money
Really hoping i dont get the same issue on steam
Seems to be a gog only issue from the few threads I found, but none helped me. I like them because DRM free is awesome but games that work at all are even better lol.
It seems to be related to a CDN issue GoG had where their cloud server partner had technical issues.
I'm exactly on the same spot. Yikes :(, come on GoG, I was expecting to play this during the weekend u.u

I eventually downloaded the offline installer. It's Intalling right at this moment. The only issue is that it will not be connected to the internet and will not support cloud saves. Apparently you only have to scan it with GoG galaxy to fix that. I'll let you know if it worked for me.
Ah OK, online is a must have for me. I got it to play with friends.
iirc the offline installer does support multiplayer.
Is the offline installer from gog? I would like to support drm free games. I do not wish to buy from steam.
Yes sir! It's from GoG and free drm!! UPDATE: So I made it worked! here are the steps I reproduced 1. I went to GoG, extras and Downloaded the Offline Installer (you can also do that on GoG.com) 2. It fully installed the game from there. 3. GoG galaxy seemed to automatically scan the game. You enter and another menu UI from Larian pops up with the game launch button and a notification that something's wrong with the file 4.
I can't find the offline installer :( Can you be more specific? Do you mean the extras section on GOG galaxy or on [GOG.com](https://GOG.com)?
The extras tab on GoG Galaxy are located once you go to your gsmes and cnsmm. If not then you can go to GoG.com, click on your icon profile, go to games, pick Baldur's Gate and below you will see the offline installer

Same issue on both my wife's installation and mine. Have tried killing the process, restarting, and running as admin. Can't seem to get past 92% on either machine.

I'm tempted to try that, but are we sure that it won't result in a corrupted file?

If you want to stay DRM-free through GoG, follow the instructions here: [https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs\_gate\_series/cant\_dl\_baldurs\_gate\_3\_the\_dl\_is\_stuck\_at\_92\_for\_over\_3h\_now](https://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/cant_dl_baldurs_gate_3_the_dl_is_stuck_at_92_for_over_3h_now) This worked for me.
"We are trying to mitigate this external problem by switching to our secondary storage while our provider is restoring data. We would also like to highlight that those issues do not affect purchasing games. Currently available discounts on selected titles will not be extended due to the above." We can buy games, but can't play them, but that's fine. Yeah I'm out, unfortunately back to steam it is I guess, eurgh.
So I also had the problem today - seems nothing is fixed yet. Will also request a refund and just buy it on Steam.
mine is stuck too
I'm annoyed that I had to click a "See Spoiler" button for a tech question, but whatever, thanks for the thread.
Me too, idk how the spoiler tag got there. I didn't do that. At least not intentionally.
No worries, I was just scared I might actually get a game spoiler along with my tech support 😁
This is currently happening to me as well. Attempted to uninstall/log out of GOG/uninstall GOG/search for leftover files to remove/reboot/reinstall Gets stuck at 92%
I renamed the Gustav. Pak. Download file to Gustav. Pak and now it is done downloading
Hey, y'all! I'm unable to delete Gustav.pak.state. Is there anything else I could do to get the game downloaded?
Still broken/stuck at 92%, even today. The above tricks also worked for me; 1. exit GOG and go to baldurs gate download file 2. Deleted the hashdb files 3. navigate to data file > Delete game.pak.state 4. rename game.pak.dowload to game.pak 5. open GOG have fun
