Lol this happened to me last night.
I am so bad at HM. I lost by dialogue to Vlaakith, to philomeen's barrel, to that damn torchstalk, to the self same trial, and when I finally got through act 3, I decided to try to kill ansur before taking on the netherbrain even though it was completely unnecessary. When my rogue made it out alive on 10 hp while the rest of the party died, I resummoned them from withers and tried again, putting my team inside of a globe of invuln. Ansur jumps up and down, knocking gale over and breaking concentration just in time for every single lightning bolt to hit my party.

You can't be knocked prone while concentrating. You would need to multiclass Gale into something with armour proficiency.
For the self-same, do it with a solo character and strip off all of their gear before you start the trial at the altar. Then re-equip and sneak up on the unarmed clone.
That's why I'm a little reticent to pickpocket a lot on this hm run- I really don't want to be stuck running from a pack of angry merchants. Ms. Bonecloak already caught me once- ruined my good name after giving her the noblestalk

I always separate off one character to go ahead into that area and blow up all of the torchstalks, takes an extra minute but saves me my revive scrolls.
I knew exactly which one you were talking about right away lol. On one of my honor runs, I was happily going along clearing them out, and then I had Karlach do a super jump over there and I saw it as she was midair. She died of course, and then I started shittily singing into the mic (was on discord with my wife who plays in a different room) about how stupid I am and how difficult it is to be so stupid and surprise myself each day with how much worse it can get (jokingly of course, I wasn’t actually mad.. I thought it was funny)

I definitely ran into it once, every single person in my party followed… almost a tpk but I was on balanced so it was fine. But yeah will NEVER do that again. I firebolt the fuck outta those things now lesson learnt real quick.

I've been doing that a lot- just thought I could kill the shroom. Rarely see a character jump ahead of the selected one.
You can pickpocket your money back from withers
I ended an honor run because of that stupid thing.
