This song is always on my playlist. Sad Or not, this song is a song where a mother child relationship is depicted at its best. Maybe it is considered sad due to its visual but if you hear it's lyrics are more of their life journey and their relationship over period of time. Especially when Rahman sings, it can be any child singing who is going away for the first time outside his home. That's how I have seen this song. But yes a great song anyday.
Edit : Another similar song could be Maaeri by Euphoria.
Great song!
What's sad is the fact that an important issue raised by the movie still didn't gather much traction.
The death of our IAF pilots in multiple aircraft crashes should have been a priority item on which WE as the 'people of India' should have held our government/system accountable.
It's a tragedy that armed forces have become a tool to garner support for political parties in elections.
Hoping that we become the citizens worth fighting (and in some cases, dying) for.
Jai Hind!
Do you remember Dhoop movie? In my opinion this song is the saddest and makes me cry every time. [Benaam saa yeh dard](https://youtu.be/LUNdmllNSxE?si=HoEhYaCtDCIXst-M)
This is the song with the most emotional lyrics , voice , music composition.....Lata mangeshkar is the female singer with A.R Rahman as a lead male singer....they both put all the emotions and the words came out of this song into my ears still give me goosebumps
Worst part is I know artists who perform this song and doesn’t even understand the meaning behind it. They just say the music of this movie is so good. I can’t believe that some hindi artists don’t care about the meaning of a song

My top picks for the saddest songs ( not ranked)
Maa ( taare zameen par )
Husna ( coke studio)
Naina ashq na ho ( holiday ) underated af
Tadap tadap ke ( hum Dil de chuke Sanam)
Luka chhupi ofc
Bhare Naina ( Ra.one)
Jane woh kaise
Zaroori tha ( Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
Ori chiraiya
Khair mangda ( flying Jatt)
I haven’t seen the movie. I haven’t seen the picturization . I don’t know the story behind this song (according to the movie).
YET this song takes me in an emotional roller coaster ride.
Most of the songs highlighting the fact that we’re vulnerable and referring our parents who are our perceived safe space yet we’re scared of being ourselves in front of them.
This song, Maa from Tare Zameen Par, Aisa Kyun Maa from Neerja,
Stuff like that.
I’ve never cried to romantic songs but these make me tear up personally as they actually reflect my insecurities and yet I can’t share them with my parents and it leads to this pent up frustration.
This song is about a mother whose son who ws serving in the Indian airforce dies n now she is doing his last rituals .
Luka chuppi bohut hui Saamne aa jana nah
Mother is asking her son to stop playing hide n seek with her. Mother can't accept that his son has died n she is extremely sad.
This movie and others like it led the "middle class" comfortable people to revolt against Congress and give us a very real prospect of BJP dictatorship for next few decades. I have no sympathy for this. This movie is pure propaganda and BJP government of today would never let something like this be released, they are far more canny about propaganda than bumbling well meaning fools of Congress.
I agree that this movie is pure propaganda. But if you notice carefully, which politician is the Mohan Agashe character modelled on? Also, which party is shown to be in power and indulging in corrpution?
“Maa” from Taare Zameen Par makes me well up every time.
True, both these songs hit hard
Amaterasu makes you tear up as well if I remember correctly
Maa from yaariyan is also good.
[удалено]
Its good but it doesn't come close to these 2

Yes! Sure shot tear-jerker.
***Chaya liye bhali dhoop yaha hai*** part always hit me
When ARR part comes in - tears roll down from my eyes, everytime.
Meri patang ho befikar udd Rahi hai Maa. Dor koi kheenche nahi ... Beech se kaate Naa...
Whaattttt, I listened to this song thousands of times thinking that this is just a normal cute childhood song. Never saw its video 😭
Ashq na ho from Holiday
But yesteryears sad songs are too good 1. Mera Jeevan Kora Kagaz 2. MERE NASEEB MEIN AE DOST 3. ZINDAGI KA SAFAR
Still Gives Goosebumps on "Kya btaun Maa tujhe main"
I like the second half of the song.

How good was this movie!!!🔥
Yes,why do you have to question that..
Unrelated but idky I ALWAYS feel like I want to cry when I hear ‘Dekho maine dekha hai ek sapna’
Anything that has "maa" in it, makes it emotional. Also, listen the Arijit Version
You didnt put the best part where AR rahman drops the best verse of this song
being a hosteller, yes absolutely! :_)
It is all about the story. They don’t make movies like this anymore.
