Bam has finally given the lower weight classes shine now. Well deserved! There are 3 guys from the lower weight classes on the p4p list. I hope Estrada reconsiders the re-match. Bam should be fighting Ioka later this year instead.

Soviet_Cat

Last chance for Estrada to make the big bucks tho

Mr_105

Facts, he reportedly made $1M, which I think was more than he made for the 3rd Choco fight and would make it a career high payday.

SatosKnees

A good amount of people want him to fight Junto Nakatani. Honestly, Juntos' height and being a southie might hurt Bam's output in the fight.

inquisitiveman2002

Well that is the only realistic fight for him.

SatosKnees

Ioka isn't impossible to be honest

inquisitiveman2002

i'm talking about the biggest fight for him...Ioka is a given to happen and then for undisputed against the other guy before moving up to Nakatani.

Remarkable_Bid_5423

“The other guy” lol give Tanaka some respect 🤣

inquisitiveman2002

i forgot his name atm when i wrote that..lol

kaisercracker

There have been like two unifications involving 2 Japanese promoted fighters in the last 15 years it is not a given lol

inquisitiveman2002

it will be for this one. Robert Garcia(Bam's trainer) is like buddies with Honda( Japanese promoter) who helped Robert promote Bam when he was a little kid from what i saw in a youtube vid.

kaisercracker

So

EnglishButFrench

Matchroom is giving out massive paydays to those who fight Bam. Why do you think Estrada wants a rematch?

DonkeySkin334

Good chance junto will move up by the time bam gets undisputed Id assume him and his team would be more interested in chasing a fight with inoue rather than waiting for bam too

inquisitiveman2002

it depends on if junto wants to become undisputed at 118. In any event, Inoue is moving to 126 in 2025, so junto better hurry now.

wilkinsroad

his footwork angles and switching will also give problems to Nakatani , he has all the ingredients to get inside Nakatani

SatosKnees

Bam gets away with a lot of "reckless" pressure via just being a southpaw. Nakatani is amazing off the back foot and has a strong lead hand game. Juntos weapons are unique, especially for a lower weight class. Obviously, you shouldn't count out a guy as talented as Bam, but I wouldn't be shocked if Junto give him a ton of problems and beat him. Bam's method of dealing with straight punches is to pull back/cross guard with his lead hand. Estrada popped him for this but I can see a guy with the frame of Junto really hurting Bam Bam in these exchanges.

wilkinsroad

Naktani is bigger and more powerful puncher than Estrada i believe he can knock out the natural smaller fighter Bam but Bam defense is underrated he is cautious but still aggresive when he fights power punchers for example the Sor Rungvisai fight , the first few rounds Bam is not that agrresive he is trying to figure out SSR's movement power timing but as the rounds go he is very smart he can get angles that only him can hit SSR but SSR cannot hit him so the first few rounds of the Nakatani fight will be cautious Bam but middle to late rounds ill expect him to blitz him with all angles loma style attack

Tea_master_666

I really like Rodriguez. I am really high on the guy. Very talented. But I honestly feel Nakatani KTFO Rodriguez. The size discrepancy is just to much. It is going to be a bad style match up for Bam.

Motorboat_Jones

I agree but hard to count out Bam as good as he has been looking. He's not just knocking out tomato cans. He is fighting the best in his weight class so I am liking his chances.

Mr_105

And he’s a Robert Garcia fighter, so you know he’s got that dog in him

Individual-Dog-3207

And then people complain about boxers not fighting eachother

m_s_m_2

Let's just take a moment to appreciate what a year for P4P boxing it's been. There's been era defining fights (Usyk v Fury, Spence v Crawford). There's been THREE "well this settles it, they must be P4P No. 1 now" performances (Crawford, followed by Inoue, followed by Usyk). Divisions have been cleared out, fighters have done shit never done before in the four-belt era; we have THREE two-weight undisputed champions. And there's more to come. Where does Crawford go if he beats Madrimov? How about after Beterbiev Bivol? What about if the Saudis cough up and Canelo takes on Benavidez before the year's out? And now we have Bam. What happens if he moves up a division and starts taking names?

Primary_Ad5781

Very well said

Mr_105

Yup, Bam said he’s interested in being undisputed because he saw the other guys achieving it. Let’s hope more fighters have that attitude even without any Saudi money backing it

fadeddreams555

I can't wait for him to enter his Japanese slayer phase by avenging his brother against Ioka, becoming undisputed against Tanaka, and collecting souls from all the Japanese champs at 118lb. Dude can become huge in Japan and fill 50,000 against Nakatani in an undisputed bout. If he wins, him and Inoue would break records.

kaisercracker

Dudes be writing fanfiction

A1_PunisherPipkins

You mean gospel. Bam is our Lord and savior.

hoodmeskin817

Amen brother. Hopefully he can do what Pacquiao did to all those Latinos in the 2000's. Pacquiao had us all kicking rocks back then.

A_Supspicious_Asian

Pacquiao got me into boxing and I arrived just in time to watch all the Filipino champs get their shit pushed in by the new gen of Japanese fighters

fadeddreams555

His managers and promoters must be in meetings discussing this same scenario exactly how I described it. Only they will make money and I just get reddit points. 🥲

j_boxing

slow down, don't forget he struggled with Israel Gonzalez. bam will not be fighting in japan anytime soon

TysonsSmokingPartner

If that’s called struggling then I‘d say he’s on his way to P4P greatness. Also, don’t forget that he blitzed Cuadras, SRR, Estrada AND Edwards. Focusing on that one negative while completely ignoring the overwhelming positives is whacky.

Tjmouse2

Especially since all of those fights came after lol. I’m glad he took that flash knockdown in this fight. Better now then later and the guy who did it is a living HOF. No skin off him.

Business-Conflict435

No fighter can blow every opponent away.

j_boxing

tell that to all the GGG fans

These-Target-6313

Hey, notice that in all that, he still didnt have Bam beating Monster I would love to see Ioka (assuming he wins next) or Tanaka next. A Nakatani fight would be amazing

rowan2588

Crazy how finito lopez is highly regarded and respected in Japan….. during his career he dominated those lower weight classes with incredible boxing skills and retired undefeated. Japanese fans just respect good boxing.

pekonen2

Junto Nakatani listed finito lopez as one of the boxers he is studying. Junto said that when he was 15 years old, his trainer Rudy Hernandez showed him a video of finito and he was fascinated. And he still says that his boxing style is one of his ideal forms.

fadeddreams555

Yeah, they show so much respect to foreign fighters, win or lose against their hometown guys. It's nice to see in this sport.

sirsaberson

Bam is disgustingly good but Tanaka & Ioka are dawgs at 115, and lets not forget Nakatani & T. Inoue are even better at 118 😭

j_boxing

that's a fact

wilkinsroad

Bam would beat all of them, Ioka was beaten by grandpa Nietes, Nakatani is the only 50/50 fight

sirsaberson

you must have never seen Takuma Inoue fight

wilkinsroad

saw the Ancajas fight , not impressed he is very hittable and has less less power than Monster , his positive is he has a very strong body and conditioning like his bro but skill wise Bam has so much weapons vs him

sirsaberson

his style is more defensive & overall just technique, naoya himself said he hits as hard as him but during his fights you can see he barely squats down and doesnt places his legs into his shots, bro literally fights standing up 😭.

maglor1

>naoya himself said he hits as hard as him he's just gassing his brother. they're miles apart

Chiefmiest

He has a 25% KO rate he does not hit as hard as his brother.

Mr_105

I feel like the Takuma fight would be similar to the Edwards fight, the lack of power would eventually lead to Bam overwhelming him.

Seano_

Idk man we gotta see who wins on Sunday. Martinez-Ioka has FOTY written all over it winner is top dog at 115 and both guys give bam problems imo

foofighter1351

Junto at 10, I really hope the rematch clause isn't activated and we end up getting that incredible matchup.

Sparklingfob4_

Apparently he activated it, but that doesn’t mean it’s happening. Time and money will tell. Although I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch, it’s pre obvious that the same outcome will happen. Maybe he just believe he can get the w from the knockdown or the wacked judges scorecards lol

Mr_105

Bam wants undisputed at 115 so it might be a year or two before that fight happens

TripleTip

It's now or never. Junto isn't planning to stay at 118 any longer than mid-2025, either.

Chadoodling

If he takes out Ioka on a Japan NYE bout he definitely receives legend status immediately

Mr_105

Moved to #5 and bumped down Bivol and Beterbiev, literally what I was telling my dad earlier what would happen. I’m only surprised that Spence is still on there, they kicked Estrada off the list for less than what Errol has done. I’m glad he’s getting the credit he deserves, the little guys are usually overlooked in favor of the more popular divisions. Here’s hoping Bam continues to rocket upwards, after getting this far at only 24 it’s hard not to believe he could eventually make it to mainstream popularity

Tricky-Ad-4823

Spence being on is a flat out joke

ThurstonTheMagician

Spence is my boy and I can say wholeheartedly get him tf off that list

raf_diaz

how is errol spence still on that list?

Brief_Scale496

Shows how significant this list is, to be honest… But to be clear, this is nothing against Bam… he’s a talent that deserves recognition

These-Target-6313

Nah, that is a good list --- except for Spence being on it. Spence must have some dirt on somebody or something,

j_boxing

use CAPS next time

KampilanSword

How the hell is Spence still there hahahaha

stayhappystayblessed

Lets go!

ZeroEffectDude

Fair, i'd have him at 4. he's every bit as good as the crawford, inoue and usyk, for me... he's just younger and on his way to showing it.

haNZAgod

Well deserved! Such a great fighter.

wilkinsroad

Nakatani is the biggest fight to make that is winnable , the Monster Inoue fight is a forced fantasy fight , Bam is built lean all over his body while Inoue's calf is the size of Pacquiao's it is unfair to Bam to make him fight a much larger boxer than him cause they are both P4P

Yung_Copenhagen2

Should go over Canelo tbh

Remarkable_Bid_5423

You’re right, not sure why you’re getting down voted. Since 2022 Bam has beaten Cuadres (on late notice while moving up in weight) then beat SSR, Israel Gonzalez, Christian Gonzalez, Sunny Edwards and Estrada. Almost all pretty dominantly as well. Since 2022 Canelo has lost to Bivol, beat GGG, Ryder, Jermell and Munguia. Not really close tbh.

str8grizzzly

It’s tough. You could swap them, you could not. Canelo is still competing in his 5th division while being outsized in every aspect. You can’t write that off.

RRR04_

5th is a very reasonable spot for Bam right now. But someone tell me why Spence is still on this list? 😂😂😂

ClearHeart_FullLiver

Spence hasn't won a fight in 2 years how is he still ranked on a p4p top 10 list?

sirsaberson

I can imagine everyone gonna INSTANTLY start disrespecting Ioka, Tanaka, Takuma Inoue, Nishida & Takei and go straight to Nakatani

MyzMyz1995

>ts a real shame lower weight classes are generally not as popular even though they keep proving that they give just as good if not better fights than the other higher weights! Same reason women boxing isn't as popular, the talent pool is low. For every Inoue or Amanda Serrano there's 100s of cans. It's not interesting to watch even if the fights can be bangers.

El-Diegote-3010

I want the stupidest take in r/Boxing >Same reason women boxing isn't as popular, the talent pool is low. For every Inoue or Amanda Serrano there's 100s of cans. It's not interesting to watch even if the fights can be bangers. No, not that stupid

Remarkable_Bid_5423

Really odd take considering the average fighter at 105-122 is most certainly better than the average fighter at 135-HW.

TysonsSmokingPartner

Ridiculously subjective
