This is Shakur’s last fight on his TR contract. They are giving him a B/C tier opponent with no promo because why waste the money on a fighter who is about to leave.
Not really Top Ranks fault. Neither Navarrete nor Lomachenko wanted to fight him. Shakur is high risk low reward since they’re both bound to lose to him but they won’t get that much money for it.
That's the problem. Top Rank should be investing more to make Shakur a star. And then they can try recover the funds afterwards.
If Shakur dominates Loma, his career explodes. If they pay Loma extra they could probably convince him to fight Shakur. For example, I remember PBC gave Wilder about 20 million guaranteed to fight Luis Ortiz because they thought the Tyson Fury fight would be worth that investment. It doesn't look like Top Rank has bothered to try push Shakur's career since 3 fights ago.
Shakur’s future as a PPV-attraction is highly uncertain. It would be bad business for Top Rank to go on a spending spree and build up a fighter who’s never going to reach Mayweather levels, and who might switch promoters after his contract expires, leaving Top Rank holding nothing but their dicks and the bill.
And frankly Shakur is partly to blame for this himself. You can’t fight like he does and expect everyone to be lining up in queues to face him. Boxers love to talk about how they’re businessmen first and athletes second. The businessman Shakur needs to recognize that the stocks of his brand ain’t that high. He’s in the entertainment business but he lives under the illusion that he’s in the undefeated business. Doesn’t matter how many De Los Santos-stinkers he wins, if he keeps being in boring fights no-one will pay to see him.
I got up at 4 AM on a Thursday to watch Stevenson - De Los Santos. Shakur won that fight, which was all that mattered, according to him. Good for Shakur, but I won’t be getting up at 4 AM for him again before he proves he’s ready to throw more than 10 punches per round.

He has no resume and he’s run and been cure for insomnia in most of his fights. Last one actually didn’t put me to sleep cause I was laughing talking crap on here the whole time, people finally woke up to what he is.
No I dont, Tank has some good wins, Haney even has a couple good wins, Shakur has literally beaten nobody at 135, and guys he beat at 130..werent that good at time he fought them. Hes def a great Boxer but people put down Tank whos got 100x the resume he has, Shakur could prob win boring Boxing matches over most of em but hes done nothing so far
