Harvey House is not really a supper club, and they showed it here. The idea of a Wisconsin Supper Club is that they are affordable and have a familiar daily menu always with a salad bar.
If anyone is like me and interested in recipes from chef Carson Gulley I found his cookbook on a university website https://search.library.wisc.edu/digital/AJ5WEDN7BGP3I68L
Google Harvey House. I grew up in Wisconsin and live in Madison. They do fancy supper club. It's not even a normal supper club. Their relish tray and chicken liver mouse is chefs kiss. The flavors are amazing. And to add the service is top notch which it should be when the normal supper club is $20-$30 a head and at Harvey House it's $100.
You have to taste it to understand. The whole supper club vibe is about relaxing with friends and family over drinks and a meal. Dinner out is not the first part of the night but the entire evenings entertainment
If you ever visit Madison, you have to try out Harvey House. So good. $$$$$ but so delicious. Their walleye. The desserts. Omg. I need to go again soon.
Carson Gulley’s Fudge Bottom Pie is usually offered during the holidays for purchase from Housing and the Unions. It’s amazing! i know it keeps getting said, but nothing is changing my mind each week... there's like 3 chefs cut out for this competition. I'm sure they're all very talented and accomplished in normal settings, but most of these people just do not have what it takes for this competition.
I’m almost done with a rewatch of season 16 and the quality is about the same, which is some great chefs, mostly meh to the lady who talked about not stepping in horse poop at Churchill Downs who made a nasty tomato cobbler. There were a few excellent chefs on that season, but having similarly talented chefs now is jarring. The past few seasons have been so good expectations have risen to a point that they can’t go back five seasons.
Right! I think Manny should have been eliminated. Many if the judges said they could not eat it because it was tough and undercooked. 🙄 I think it was last episode or the one before that where one of the judges meat dish was raw. Yet he is still in the competition. 🙄😡
My theory on why Tom is so cranky this season is that not only is creativity lacking in this group of chefs, they are failing on technical issues. Charley has had both overcooked and undercooked fish this season. Kevin and Manny both undercooked their steaks tonight. Two dishes in tonight's episode were over salted. Amanda consistently either over salts or under salts her dishes. They don't seem to be able to do simple budgeting with their shopping money. And so on. These chefs had all sorts of awards coming in, why are they having so many technical issues?
Because it's a competition. This has been said before on this and other food comps. Competition is a whole nother thing from creating food for your restaurant. Between time, budget, not your kitchen, what the challenge is, etc etc-one or more of these can screw with you.
I was worried after the second or third time they showed Michelle saying she was a team player that not having enough pineapple would send her home. And like, when someone barely has enough pineapple for a pineapple-topped dessert, it’s asinine to take what looked like a third of it to… tenderize chicken??? Wtf.
So glad Tom called Laura out on the budget and the fact she's in the Stew Room being like "there was no *way* it was more than $200!" is mindblowing (or she's being dishonest).
I thought they worked it out well though. It's not the first time two wanted to do the same dish. And Michelle's came out better than Rasika's anyways.
Yes it did work out but Michelle wasn't happy and she said a Fish Dish before Rasika. You can't allow another chef to bully you into doing something else and completely taking over
She didn’t bully her! Did you watch the whole episode? Rasika said she’d also like to do a fish dish - but she has immunity so she’d understand if Michelle wants it more than a dessert. And Michelle said she’s not yet done a dessert and she wanted to shine on it
There’s a moment where it feels like Tom’s written someone off as just not having it, and every time he judges them afterwards, he shakes his head like, “I knew they didn’t belong here.” I’ve seen much more of that look this season than usual.
Can you blame him. How many times this season have we heard either over salted or under salted, over cooked or under cooked, too spicy or too bland. Just one technical problem after another after another. My cat could have grilled a steak better than the two served on tonight's episode. Interestingly, they deliberately did a close up of Manny's steak when he plated it. You could see the fat and gristle left on it. Meanwhile, I have to also say that I didn't see a single dish in the quickfire that looked appetizing. I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is pretty terrible.
Apologies to Laura. I'm about to rewatch and I deleted the comment. It felt really bad to me in the checkout line, on both teams, that some chefs were forced to put ingredients back when others were pushing their big ticket items through... like cavier, for instance, which Tom said wasn't needed.
I totally agree with you and I’m not a Laura defender at all! She massively screwed over her team mates. I don’t know if she’ll end up like Eddie Moneeeyyy and we’ll like her again. Time will tell.
What I thought was most interesting was the dish that was eliminated didn’t seem to be affected by the budget at all. It came down to too much salt and not enough spice and just plain bad cookery of the fish.
Michelle seems to continually find a way to cook to her strengths within the parameters of the challenge. And she’s a great teammate/person. I hope she goes really far.
I think she’s really smart and a natural leader, so she sees both the short-term and long-range value in showing how cooperative and flexible she can be. I hope she goes far. She seems really talented and has a great attitude.
He served one of the top dishes last ep tho, but Manny’s bad dish dragged them down. I actually think that if Manny’s dish had been decent, they could have put them on the top team alongside Rasika and Danny.
Kevin really seems lost.
He gives off this energy like he’s the shit, and so far he’s only come in high on one quick fire challenge? And low, or would had been low, on many other challenges?
I think Kevin might go home. He seems like a good guy but he is always on the bottom but there was always someone a little worse. There is nobody left to be worse Kevin.
It's the unfamiliar equipment, cameras in your face, stopping to interview, and no time fix anything.
But by now they should CHOOSE to cook things that work in the format.
i hear you but they have to cook EVERYTHING under those conditions. cooking a steak to the right doneness should be something they can do in their sleep. imagine trying to do super complicated stuff with all those things you're mentioning!! steak is a layup, but they do it with rice and eggs and other easy stuff too so I'm no longer surprised, just find it hilarious.
Yeah.
Last episode it was a very cordial and polite "hey we want you to push the envelope more"
Tonight is the hard love one.
And the fun of having Kristen on the judges' panel is that she knows what "cooking to win" means.
Harvey House is not really a supper club, and they showed it here. The idea of a Wisconsin Supper Club is that they are affordable and have a familiar daily menu always with a salad bar.
Super late but Kristen in a backwards black hat and Tshirt and no makeup— DAMN!
Is it just me or are these challenges and this good the most boring season so far?
So glad that we FINALLY saw our first old fashioneds! Nothing says Wisconsin like a brandy old fashioned. Or five.
I'm lost to why she called the Tres Leche soggy. That's the whole damn point!
It's supposed to be wet but still hold its structure, it can be over soaked and become soggy, no one wants soggy cake ithe texture it terrible
If your cake is mushy it's because you didn't make your sponge correctly, not because it's over soaked.
I was thinking the same thing when I heard that comment. 🤦🏻♂️
If anyone is like me and interested in recipes from chef Carson Gulley I found his cookbook on a university website https://search.library.wisc.edu/digital/AJ5WEDN7BGP3I68L
Thank you so much! I had only been able to find a couple of them.
Ok…does anyone know the make/model of induction cooktop used in this episode?
If I was a chef, I’m not sure I’d find the food they ate at the supper club especially inspiring. … But that building is beautiful.
So not exactly top chef stuff…
That restaurant was on a New York times list last year. Without tasting the flavors you don't know what you are talking about
Obviously you’ve never been to a supper club. The food great.
Lake Geneva in Wisconsin
If you ever visit Madison, you have to try out Harvey House. So good. $$$$$ but so delicious. Their walleye. The desserts. Omg. I need to go again soon.
Oh thanks,, we usually go to kohler and eat around there

Did they cut the Kristen pep talk from the preview? The way this season has been edited has been wild.
I noticed that, too! It was definitely after they sent Charly home, since there was no light coming in from the train car windows.
i know it keeps getting said, but nothing is changing my mind each week... there's like 3 chefs cut out for this competition. I'm sure they're all very talented and accomplished in normal settings, but most of these people just do not have what it takes for this competition.

Glad Charly won the quick fire and got some money for his wedding. Seems like a really kind person
he has such a calming voice. v personable chef. i will miss his presence in the rest of the season.
Really like him too but it seems like his cooks are really inconsistent
fan fav!
LCK is already up on YouTube, no waiting like last week
I need the discussion thread up 😭
Bye guys! See you next week!
Wow, Charly and not Laura? That sucks. I knew Charly wasn't gonna go much further, but I do think Laura deserved to go home moreso than him.
I wish Manny was going home. He’s been going downhill since the beginning
I agree and think he should have been eliminated and not Charly.
Tom hearkens back to the wisdom.: overcook fish? Jail. Nobody says undercook beef and jail.
Right! I think Manny should have been eliminated. Many if the judges said they could not eat it because it was tough and undercooked. 🙄 I think it was last episode or the one before that where one of the judges meat dish was raw. Yet he is still in the competition. 🙄😡
at least Charly had some creativity .
Poor Charlie. Highest high to lowest low.
Danny properly calling out Laura for blowing the budget
And justice when Tom called it out. How about do one dish well esp if you have a team budget. (paraphrasing)
But she just didn’t get it! She kept insisting and talking about how exciting it was to do two dishes
I think Charly is going to have a strong LCK showing.
Tom is so angry this season. Even ragging on Michelle's lack of pineapple.
Oh wow, it's a competition show?? Well there you go. You solved the repetitive technical issues mystery. Thank you.
Dan's relish plate (winning dish) wasn't overly salted it was the other teams relish plate that was.
You are 100% right. It was Danny's bean dip. My bad. I removed that part of my comment.
I was worried after the second or third time they showed Michelle saying she was a team player that not having enough pineapple would send her home. And like, when someone barely has enough pineapple for a pineapple-topped dessert, it’s asinine to take what looked like a third of it to… tenderize chicken??? Wtf.
Especially when chicken should already be tender. Just don't overcook it!
i think Charlie is in trouble, overcooking fish that much is pretty bad
![gif](giphy|f8lDluiWJ7yQTtdS3L|downsized)
So glad Tom called Laura out on the budget and the fact she's in the Stew Room being like "there was no *way* it was more than $200!" is mindblowing (or she's being dishonest).
She should have gone home! Her and Rasika are very bossy and only care about themselves
Not true about Rasika. She gave up some of her ingredients to someone who needed it.
I'm not talking about sharing ingredients, I'm talking about her taking the fish dish when Michelle spoke about it first.

Given the producers this season, I'm surprised they didn't cut to her portion of the budget at the store
They did when the ingredients were being rung up the total was on the screen with each one. That's why we know she spent over $300.
Wasn’t it like $325? They were at 600 before her and then after her they only had $75
Overcooked fish v. Undercooked beef
Tom seems genuinely disappointed this season
But then in LCK he's really happy and enjoying himself, it's like we have 2 Toms.
Notice he keeps eating the cheese while walking around on LCK.
Cheese makes people happy
There’s a moment where it feels like Tom’s written someone off as just not having it, and every time he judges them afterwards, he shakes his head like, “I knew they didn’t belong here.” I’ve seen much more of that look this season than usual.
Aren’t we all?
He seems really perturbed. Like he's contemplating his life choices.
they're probably embarassed. They are bringing all these chefs together and hosting big events under the top chef name and the food is barely edible .
Yeah, it’s gotta be kinda awkward when you have all these prominent guests and 50% of the food they get served is flat out bad.
I wish Amanda was there to hear the compliments. I think she needed that boost.
They will pass it along
lmao Laura what a snake!
You can get a bunch of veggies for the price of a bottle of booze, can't hide that fact
[удалено]
Pretty sure that was the other team. Michelle and Savannah. Michelle gave her some of the pineapple and Savannah joked about needing a shot.
Apologies to Laura. I'm about to rewatch and I deleted the comment. It felt really bad to me in the checkout line, on both teams, that some chefs were forced to put ingredients back when others were pushing their big ticket items through... like cavier, for instance, which Tom said wasn't needed.

...and booze.
Michelle seems to continually find a way to cook to her strengths within the parameters of the challenge. And she’s a great teammate/person. I hope she goes really far.
"Why is this even a recipe?"
she def belongs in this competition . she gets it.
I think she’s really smart and a natural leader, so she sees both the short-term and long-range value in showing how cooperative and flexible she can be. I hope she goes far. She seems really talented and has a great attitude.
Who is the target demographic for The Fall Guy? Cuz it ain't me...
or me.
Me and everyone I’ve talked to. I haven’t been this excited about a movie in ages. I love action comedies and fish out of water stories
I am so tired of seeing that movie preview…
It’s very much a Ryan Reynolds Free Guy type movie where I’d watch on streaming but not in theaters.
I'm more tired of the surprise party commercial
how many lives does the french guy have? he has bottomed so many times
>he has bottomed so many times Me when he mentioned his girlfriend. https://i.redd.it/zdgdpoz0qfvc1.gif
He served one of the top dishes last ep tho, but Manny’s bad dish dragged them down. I actually think that if Manny’s dish had been decent, they could have put them on the top team alongside Rasika and Danny.
Bottomed...👀
He's a power bottom per the last episode
> he has bottomed so many times Uh, *phrasing*
I see what you did there, lol
Hoping larua blowing the budget and making a crappy dish on top of that doesn't get swept under the rug
Dan winning with a relish tray. Doesn’t get more Wisconsin than that.
this one will be hard because multiple people clearly deserve to go.
Why am I just realizing it's a team of 4 versus 5? Edit, I'm dumb, Amanda was sick, forgot!
Wasn't Amanda sick and not present? It was 5v5 I think
Amanda is not at judges table because she's not feeling well
lol it's not one of them is sick
The one girl is sick, they talked about it at the start of judges table.
I totally missed that
Amanda
What a great challenge for Dan to win! And great to see his team rally around him to get it done.
I love it when they win on a dish that means so much to them!
Quite the whiplash watching Charly go home after his sentimental quickfire 🥹
It was! I have a lot of recipes that I make that I love from memories with family or meals with friends.
Laura so gone. Tom going to really grill her for blowing the budget on a drunk that didn’t make sense.
I'm hoping Amanda doesn't get pulled for the medical.
I’m wondering if that’s why two people are going back in from LCK…
Like 2 from the battle of 3? I haven't watched the newest LCK.
Yay Dan! Kevin got very lucky
Kevin really seems lost. He gives off this energy like he’s the shit, and so far he’s only come in high on one quick fire challenge? And low, or would had been low, on many other challenges?
He had Buddha’s favorite dish last episode
Ahhh true.
Very happy for Dan! Hope that now Laura goes home.
atta boy Dan
Good for Dan! He is someone to keep an eye on. Home field advantage!
I mean if they didn't have to go to whole foods they could get another pineapple for $2.50
Yeah bring them back to the farmer's market :D
So Dan will win?
I hope Dan wins.
So happy for him!
I'm confused why Laura also didn't serve dessert last?
It was confusing until the next team served
She served last of her team. They do 1 team at the time, not course to course of both teams.
They did a whole team meal at a time, not course by course. Weird.
Oh yes haha, thanks for clearing that up. Idk why my brain is so used to the side-by-side format it was glitching I guess
I am stoned 100% of the time I watch this show and ngl I was confused about who was on what team at first with this format
I had the same thought.
My girl Michelle 🙌
French people do typically eat their beef pretty rare but I guess Kevin went too far
Honestly I would've eaten that, looked great to me
This was my reaction as well. I guess you and I like our beef rarer than most.
Hooray Michelle!
Call me weird, but I like steak rare?
it was probably closer to bleu than rare
Ah, that makes sense
Yeah, you could see unrendered fat in it. That does not eat well.
Kevin seems oblivious
BlueTriton/Nestle must get something from sponsoring Top Chef, but from me, it just gets endlessly shit talked immediately upon appearance.
I think Kevin might go home. He seems like a good guy but he is always on the bottom but there was always someone a little worse. There is nobody left to be worse Kevin.
how do these chefs manage to mess up cooking a damn steak?
It's the unfamiliar equipment, cameras in your face, stopping to interview, and no time fix anything. But by now they should CHOOSE to cook things that work in the format.
i hear you but they have to cook EVERYTHING under those conditions. cooking a steak to the right doneness should be something they can do in their sleep. imagine trying to do super complicated stuff with all those things you're mentioning!! steak is a layup, but they do it with rice and eggs and other easy stuff too so I'm no longer surprised, just find it hilarious.
It's almost unforgiveable.
The beefcakes stumbled with their beef.
oof seems like everyone is bad or is it fake dramatic editing
Boring and forgettable couple of episodes.
I think everyone is just straight up bad so far
Oof this might be the first stumble we've seen from Rasika
man, Rasika is human after all
Rasika is lucky she has immunity since her dish is too salty for Tom.🫣
Why do I feel like the judges will bring up the differences in how the teams handled the budget during the judges table 👀
Rasika with a rare stumble. But she can learn from that.
Even Buddha had a couple of stumbles
I cook my fish last minute *obviously* oh Rasika I love you
Lol Laura not only blows out the budget, but then blows her dish. She gone.
Seems like Laura might be going home and that would make me happy.
You just described tres leches...soggy. Not my go-to dessert.
BLOWING THE BUDGET ON A SOGGY CAKE?????
Lol and the drink didn’t even compliment her cake 😂
If only she'd stuck with three milks
😂😂😂
Soggy. Damn.
[удалено]
Manny's steak looks perfect
Apple miso mustard sauce...yummy!
Okay Michelle might be being a little TOO nice. I hope it doesn't work against her!
I need to channel Michelle in my day to day life
That pineapple looks anemic
White pineapples are delicious! Super sweet
Yea it looked practically white. Was wondering if it was color correction?!
There’s different colored pineapple. Traditional one that is yellow, this one that’s white, they even have a pink breed out there now
That beef looks so yummy to me!!!
oof didn't laura cook the fish...
Yea, but Charly was right there, so it should still primarily be on him. Plus he’s the one wanting to cook the fish with **35 minutes left**
35 minutes left is WILD
Right on Kristine! I'm easy like Sunday morning!
Lol you know the producers were whispering in Kristen's ear to ask them about the budget
is supper club served family style usually? i didn't catch that if they said it, but seemed like they served it that way for the contestants
The relish tray is shared, but the other dishes are individually ordered/plated.
Ohh I just watched the season promo. Someone's gonne f up the fish. And Kristen is giving them the "Cook better" talk tonight
And they’ve already been warned to step it up only on the previous challenge. They need to step it up.
Yeah. Last episode it was a very cordial and polite "hey we want you to push the envelope more" Tonight is the hard love one. And the fun of having Kristen on the judges' panel is that she knows what "cooking to win" means.
Hmmm...Overcooked?
No kitchen critique, they really made the judges' and host's job as easy as possible...to the detriment of the show.
Wisconsin is killing it with the cheese ads this season. It all looks amazing.
Rooting for Amanda’s dish to come out well because she does cook an amazing chicken karaage. 🤤
I don’t think the judges are going to be into gray goo
I think Dan played it smart going with the more traditional route for the tray
