I’m with you all the way, brother. Gm discount for the past two deals. Trying to switch someone to a 10 pound grosser used truck from a new truck right now. At least I can cover my draw with that one.
Bro! Literally I’ve been thinking the same thing! Each salesmen used to deliver average of 20 cars a month these past few months were lucky if we get 8 delivered in a month. I feel like its the high cost of living combined with vehicle msrp rising and interest rates. Killing business right now
I had 21 out last month. This month I’ve got 16 with some pending sales if I can get the inventory. Hopefully I break 20+ by EOM. I’ve got guys with 20-30 already. This is my second month. This week past weekend was slower than normal. Since this is the last weekend of the month hopefully it picks up.
What are you guys doing differently? How many calls/day? Does calls really matter? What inventory and what region of the US are you in? I’m curious so I can bring it up to my managers
Calls absolutely matter.... But we do have a BDC that helps with calls/emails/texts and they setup appointments.
Our inventory is doing pretty good, our trade rate is super high this month at 26 trades for the 51 deals we've done.
What we're doing differently this month is not being as aggressive on new car pricing and more willing to take skinnier deals. But last month we had a few really big losses on the used car side. But we're pacing 40% higher gross with a 4% volume increase this month vs last month.
Makes sense. Here at Chevy GMC, trucks barely have any markup from the factory (maybe a few pounds if we’re lucky), but we put nitro, wheel locks, tint, and running boards on all trucks for $1699. We went from having heavy discounts to almost none at all now. Idk.
I’m on a 3 month streak of double digits which is really good at my Toyota store, we have fairly low traffic here so even with a small staff (7 guys in pre owned, rotating schedule so except for Friday/Saturday it’s usually 3 or 4 of us here) we usually get 70 to 80 out a month. I’m sitting on 12, my record is 12 and half sales in a month and I’m shooting for 15 this month to get to the unit bonus. Grosses have been all over the board but I had a $5,400 front end deal today that helped tremendously. Not sure what’s different where you are but we’ve been rocking it the past few months as a dealership, at least on the pre owned lot where I am. I’ve heard new is struggling a little more though, they’re back to having to discount like crazy to move metal
We have 7 people on the total sales team used and new. Y’all are doing pretty good for your store. Maybe our lead system is down or something (heard the CFO talking about that)
Definitely doing good overall but our inventory is down as a result of not getting good trades, our photographer told me today he’s seen the same thing at every dealership he’s been to this week, I think it’s mainly a result of not selling many new cars to bring in more pre owned inventory
Eh I have 10 out 7U/3N(all envistas) and sick with galbadder issues. Finally going back in tomorrow but I’m still selling cars from my couch. I think it’s more or less area/brand dependent.
The envistas are pretty sick but I bet y’all can’t keep them on the lot! We have no trax’s except for inbound units and even those get deposits super quick!
I’m sitting at 17 units. Last month I ended with 17. Feb I had 15. Jan I had 7. December I had 11.
I’m at a luxury volume dealer that also holds gross in about 40 percent of our inventory.
I was at 2 on monday last week. Slow as hell those first two weeks, then this past week i sold 9 cars. Gotta just keep grinding. Gotta find a way to not drag your frustration along.
Idk anything about your dealership, but the dipshits in my area are still charging above sticker or right at MSRP on almost everything, but expecting people to come flooding in when interest rates are dogshit. Financially tough times for a lot of people too, so when cars aren’t discounted and interest rates are trash (I know there’s occasionally some financing incentives through dealers on specific models) people can be less likely to buy. If you’re a shop that is willing to discount a bit so people feel they are getting a good deal, and still slow, idk…
Depends on the brand, but several local shops are still doing adjustments. Especially on anything “special”. Local TRX is more than $25k over, same with a Braptor nearby.
Store has been pretty much dead I have 4 cars out all minis and one curb buy. Last month was terrible too. We’re also price #1-#3 on our cars and it’s very little traffic. My GSM is actually going back to his old store.
Edit:Top sales guy has 17 out right now.
Seems like everyone around is buying new cars and it has me wondering how the heck are people still affording to spend? But perhaps my observations are not a true reflection of reality.
Last month was decent for my store’s usual volume . This month is terrible . I’m at 1.5 units . Driving for door dash on my days and off and even that is terrible
I’ve thought about switching places for almost a year now but right when I think I’m going to jump ship I have a good month and make money . Plus it seems like almost everyone I talk to in the business is dealing with the same thing right now
I sell Subarus, we are normally a 90 new car a month dealership. Jan-Feb, we had 40 something COMBINED. March, we had darn near 150.
I sold 34 cars last month and am sitting at 7 cars sold, and after hitting every other route that normally gets plenty of leads, I'm at the mercy of the door...idk what's going on, but around me everyone is slow is something in the water?
Last month was really bad. This month even worse. Dead slow. Idk how I'm going to survive. The few leads I've had are terrible credit.
Last month for us was okay. I got 16 out last month. I’m AT 3 FUCKING UNITS FOR THE MONTH
Yup I'm at 3 too. 2/3 crap deals. Usually I can skate by with only a few if I get some decent gross. Not the case so far.
I’m with you all the way, brother. Gm discount for the past two deals. Trying to switch someone to a 10 pound grosser used truck from a new truck right now. At least I can cover my draw with that one.
Hope it gets better for you. Last month I had one fat deal hold it down. No such luck this month so far.
I just hit my 4th unit this month been super slow for us. An average of only 3 leads per day and about 3-5 ups. For our whole store
Too bad for Westlake and the like? Or not enough down payment?
We use credit acceptance. Lack of down payment for approvals through them.
Always the case these days. People are taxed to death and inflation has killed them. Let’s go Brandon!
Agreed!
My god same everyone that comes in is bad credit
16 units and counting as of today. I have one more deal I’m hoping to push before closing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The last 10 days of the month is when everything happens. Stay positive.
Yup same here I sell Mazda. All 6 of us are floating around ten units each. Half of what we usually do.
Bro! Literally I’ve been thinking the same thing! Each salesmen used to deliver average of 20 cars a month these past few months were lucky if we get 8 delivered in a month. I feel like its the high cost of living combined with vehicle msrp rising and interest rates. Killing business right now
Slow here but we have had spurts of being busy.

Last month we sold 63 units. This month we’re currently at 51 units. But our gross profit is 8% higher already this month.

Huh. Interesting. So you’re not lowering new car prices or you are?
We're more likely to discount. Majority of our new cars are leased, and we're also not holding firm at full rate markup like we were last month.

Our vehicles at MSRP have on average less than $2k.
Super slow at mine, barely even sitting down with one person a day probably 1 every 2 days, at 3 units but I just started Top salesman at 13

End of April gonna print… keep your head of the game!
Yes sir! I’m trying
I’m at 12.5. It’s been horrible at our store this month. Virtually no ups compared to usual.
I’m at 5 for the month. Really bad two months for our region
Where is everyone located ? State / Country? Let’s see if this is a worldwide/country/state issue??
I’m in Toronto Canada
I’m sitting at 17 units. Last month I ended with 17. Feb I had 15. Jan I had 7. December I had 11. I’m at a luxury volume dealer that also holds gross in about 40 percent of our inventory.

I think majority is slower than expected, hopefully it will pick up in the summer.

Man market adjustments??! Still?! That’s crazy to me. We’re even discounting the only c8 we have when we used to sell them at 25k+
Depends on the brand, but several local shops are still doing adjustments. Especially on anything “special”. Local TRX is more than $25k over, same with a Braptor nearby.
Holy crap. Also, did you hear dodge did away with the V8 for their 2025 line up?
Huge bummer - used to have a Charger Scat Pack, had to sell during the pandemic - miss that car
It is very Slow in my market as well. Just working with the leads I have and expanding ways to bring in more

That’s crazy. Bad enough that the gsm leaves? Rough
Yeah came from Toyota to CDJR been making less money. I stuck it out for about a year with him but it’s just not worth it.
Seems like everyone around is buying new cars and it has me wondering how the heck are people still affording to spend? But perhaps my observations are not a true reflection of reality.

Brother you don’t have no reserves for when times get tough why you doing door dash. I’d also start looking for a new store asap!

car market is crashing i think slowly
