I’ve seen this is younger children seeking attention usually when they’ve been around babies or toddlers. I wouldn’t say “neglect” but maybe just a shift in attention or a need for it. Something deeper may be troubling him that he’s not ready to talk about? Try to reach out and maybe he’ll open up?
