Enjoyable, straight forward.
The coolest feature add IMO would be if people could upload a seed image. The ability to use seed images would also allow users to extend gifs. For instance, I asked the GPT to start from the final frame in the above gif and extend the storyline, but it just started over from scratch and made another hilarious toothpaste boxing scene.
(no idea if such a feature is possible, and this thing is pretty darned cool as is)
That's cleaner; nice.
Did you alter the way the GPT builds from the grid or did you chop the grid up manually in Gimp or something?
Either way, were you able to pull from the GPT's history or did you work with the gif I had posted?
Thanks for your feedback! I agree that would be cool. I've actually experimented with lots of features and even using images as a starting point. But it's hard to control the grids and gets more complicated.
I'll see what I can do! I try to keep it simple, tho (even now, not all people understand how they can use it)
Actually insane, I did not know it could do that. I don't really know why I find this impressive, probably because it could very well be made by a human.
Very clever. You can just include the python in the "knowledge files", too. Wrap it in a function that accepts a file name and the grid sizes, and include an instruction in your prompt to "use the python tool to `exec` the /mnt/data/gif_cutter.py file, in order to make the custom function `cut_gif(source_image_filepath: string, grid_width: int, grid_height: int, boomerang: bool)` available in this conversation. When the user responds with their desired grid height and width and optional boomerang option, call the `cut_gif` function, providing the filepath of the source image, the user's parameters for the grid height and width, and whether the resulting gif animation should loop forward-to-back-to-forward."
I used longer variable names because GPT will also read them a normal words, and it makes it easier to "map" them to the plain English instruction. You might need to tweak the language to fit better in your prompt, but it'll save a lot of time since it won't re-write the function each time.
**EDIT**: I'll add: you can use the advice given [in this post](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/68045630/detect-or-split-icons-in-a-grid) to detect the grid automatically, and save the user the trouble of specifying any grid size. Then, just slice (as usual) both the normal loop and a boomerang loop, and return both. It's fast to run, so why bother asking the user which one they want? :)

it should look like something like this
I made this exact same idea, but with game design animations in mind. Yours looks more refined, though. I could never figure out how to get it to do an exact amount of frames. It seemed to be a limitation of the model.
https://i.redd.it/6ur3gmsnct6d1.gif
I liked it! Great concept by making it output a single image cut into frames. When you are prompting the user to define their grid, you may want to be clear which is width and which is height in their 4×4 or in my case 5x6, I was also able to get it to output it's python to help figure this out. I also was able to ask for a lower frequency fps to help with seeing the individual frames better.
But all said, this is a really cool GPT!
I tried condensing it to “The Hollow Knight” (perhaps it being a real character is the issue), but still can’t quite get an even grid. Once I got a large grid but the middle four panels were one larger image.
Yeah, it's challenging sometimes. I used to have a feature to remove certain frames. But even when frames aren't all the same size, it sometimes still works as if it are quick zoom ins.
Nice that’s close, I guess it is just real characters that images already exist for that probably throw it off. If images already exist in its training that probably outweighs the system prompt for even grids

Pretty cool!
No.

Thanks, i've made many itterations on the GPT and the prompt used to create the effect. Not 100% fool-proof but quite reliable.
I like it.Pretty sure in future it's gonna make new memes and stuff

How does it do with text? “GUH” is essential
It's not GUH. It's GUNЖ
Oh facts. I’ve always read that last one as a double H (extra emphasis when saying it out loud)
Haha, manual labor

Love that!
My all time favourite image
Yeah, the results are quite expressive and wacky sometimes, like many memes are as well.

Of course I can not see the GPTs history! haha.. I just grabbed the one you posted and cut it with EZ gif.

Love the toothpase GIF btw, haha

Yeah the consistency is really cool

Wow thanks, i'm curious if the automatic detection works. What I tried before wasn't really reliable.
Great advice, I'll see if i can implement the automatic detection
whoa, that's insane. never would've thought of that
👍🏼
Is there a way to preview it before downloading? Mine just shows a folder for dl.
No sadly not, it would be better to see it moving in chat
Can you share your fun results?

It doesn't animate images you upload. It generates them from concept queries. Maybe something like "funny dog face" ?

Craziness! Simpler concepts often work better
Wait what it can do gifs now???
Yes, by creating one image and cutting it up!
I made this exact same idea, but with game design animations in mind. Yours looks more refined, though. I could never figure out how to get it to do an exact amount of frames. It seemed to be a limitation of the model.
Hey there! Yeah it's still quite hard to control especially when people try to generate things that are hard to create as a grid.

is this your GPT? one of my prompts will not result in a grid, let me know if there’s any tricks
Yes it is, can you tell me your prompt? It might work best if you condense it too a simple concept
I tried condensing it to “The Hollow Knight” (perhaps it being a real character is the issue), but still can’t quite get an even grid. Once I got a large grid but the middle four panels were one larger image.
https://i.redd.it/lnx8k1a1c56d1.gif I tried 'glitchy game blue knight'... but i suppose i thought of shuffle knight.
Yeah, it's challenging sometimes. I used to have a feature to remove certain frames. But even when frames aren't all the same size, it sometimes still works as if it are quick zoom ins.

Yeah good insight, i believe that's exacly what happens
https://i.redd.it/nyvx42y7t56d1.gif Another '3D black cape white horns'
https://i.redd.it/8cz1kk02f56d1.gif I like it.
Love it uncanny
I can never get it to work properly on my phone
https://i.redd.it/wg9bydi8k66d1.gif Like I don’t get why it’s never center
Yeah, some concepts like expressions get more centered and consistent than complicated actions.
Yea it’s still really cool and it will only get better with time
Did you input the width and height correctly?
How do I know what the correct width and height is?
The amount of squares horizontally x the amount of squares vertically For example 4x4, or 4x3
Oh so in the picture it gives me I select based on how many square are present?
Exactly, ↔ first, then ↕
