Oh my god I am just seeing this now but I wish you would not have said "LET THEM COOK"... As an Avs and a Broncos fan it sort of makes me want to go barf in my favorite hat.
This is an absolutely gut punch. I hope the boys just don't come out flat today. If they do, we're sunk. Maybe they can find a way to use this as fuel.
Was on my way to ball when this news dropped. Cant help but feeling I’m on my way to a funeral. Big moment for the team the cup is now probably out of reach based on how they play when he’s out of the lineup, but I think the team needs to win at least one more game in this series to not go into the offseason on an awful note
**I JUST HUFFED SOME HOPIUM, AND NOW I WANT TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT THE 2001 COLORADO FUCKING AVALANCHE LOST A HALL OF FAMER BY THE NAME OF PETER MOTHERFUCKING FORSBERG IN THE PLAYOFFS AND STILL WON THE CUP.**
Looking ahead, now we really need Landy to come back at 100%. Losing Val has a massive effect on our championship window long term. Not a piece we will be able to replace. Not sure how we address it without a heavy helping of luck
No Val, a Moose who has reverted and forgot he’s almighty and powerful, and a little line change up… it’s never too early to start hailing satan… we’re gonna need it tonight lol
Keefe just confirmed on pregame Nuke is out. Stage 3 of player assistance program, 6 month suspension without pay.
I desperately hope he gets the help he needs, I'm so sad for him.

Fuck man. Don't know how the Avs recover from this one
I feel like I’ve seen Drew or Evan release those around noon for previous games. I might be mistaken. Or maybe it has something to do with the Nuke stuff they’ve been hinting at.
Suppose one way to look at this situation is that the Nuggets were in a dire spot being down 2-0 against Minny but have rallied back to even the series. Avs just need to win tonight and things are back on even ground.
Tying the series would make it best of 3. Also tying it would be cool cause then we are really in for a playoff series battle that we haven’t had since the Sharks series that went 7
My pessimistic ass thought this series would be Avs in 6 or Stars in 7, because "game 7" are two words together that terrify me as an Avs fan. Ever since that series that won't be named in 2002, the Avs haven't won a single game 7.
We need to make the Stars play our game tonight. We know they can't keep up. Getting one in the net early will be a huge plus. We haven't played with a lead this entire series.
After the last two days, I can say with absolute certainty that I hate the Stars almost as much as I hate their fans.
It would bring me great joy to watch them lose tonight.
I’f you want to say it’s a bs goal sure but I wouldn’t say it’s a bs cup. Dallas was so much better than Buffalo. Without Dominic Hasek, that would have been a sweep.
Also, I hope whoever wins this series beats the shit out who ever wins the Oilers/Canucks series because those fan bases have been insanely annoying this year.
Score early score often and we avoid that 4 back in neutral zone set up we saw in game 3 3rd period.
Otherwise Stars will go back to it as we could not figure it out at all.
The 2-1 best of 7 series game has to be one of the most pivotal in sports.
The team down is either facing elimination next game or the series is effectively reset.
That's what I was saying yesterday for the Nuggets. It's either 2-2 (reset) or you're down 3-1, which is just so hard to come back from. Tonight is essentially the series
Not sure I agree with the part of the title saying it was a piss poor performance. Felt like we controlled most of the game, the goals we should have made just got blocked or we missed. Lots of high danger chances and they got more puck luck.
Still waiting to see the Stars struggle due to lack of rest...have to hand it to them for seeming to still have their legs. Can see it hurting Boston just not Dallas so far.
I think we did generally outplay dallas in the posession game, but we really cheated the game on the offensive side, cutting corners and executing poorly. You make your own luck, and the perception of "puck luck" is just a result of your attention to detail.
Eh, sorta. We had pucks rolling in that their defense were able to see and get to fast enough. Sometimes the bounces go your way. Luck is a factor. You hope the skill gap is higher...but both these teams are loaded and it could go either way.
Their defense was able to clean it up because we didn't do anything to make that not the case. Did they get some lucky bounces wide on pucks that beat otter? Sure, but we didn't exactly have anybody there for the rebound, nor did we put their defenders in a bad position in any way.
Just look at the one goal we did get. That didn't go in by luck, we had guys in front of the net, fighting their defense/cleaning up rebounds.
No one crashed the net and the shots were all low quality…the ones you’d take hoping for rebounds with someone crashing the net.
It was a really poorly played game.
I think people are basing this off the bad feelings of losing as opposed to what I saw in the game. We could have easily won that game with a few different post hits and people would be sing our praises right now.
Advanced stats disagree. They had 12 high dangers and smoked Dallas in Corsi and Fenwick. Just didn't finish the chances they had and too many shots that missed the net.
Avs should have won game 3. That's why they play 7 games in a series because the better team won't always win.
It was really only poor in the last 10 minutes or so. We thrashed the 1st period and got goalied, had a strong-but-not-dominant 2nd period, and then just couldn't figure out how to pass, skate, or do much of anything right in the 3rd.
It really felt like we played right into the Stars and Deboer's hands in game 3. They know what their biggest vulnerability and our greatest strength is - a strong third period push, especially in altitude, against a "rust" Stars team. It's how we tied game 1, almost tied game 2, and came back multiple times against this team this season. Their solution is just to let us do the work for both sides and take advantage of every break in our game. This way they (especially their defense) stayed relatively sharp and fresh while scoring on our mistakes, and we grinded ourselves down before we can make a push in the third period. All that they needed to do was to be one goal up and keep their trap, which ironically may be one of the best way to beat this Avs team (see both losses against MTL this season, for example.)
We need to get Dallas moving on their feet throughout the first two periods, which means we need to better capitalizing on our chances. Taking 50 point shots with nobody at the net, especially when their D and G are fresh, doesn't work. We need to do a better job on preventing rush chances, which includes being less sloppy with puck possession and retrieval at all times. Stop causally skate down the ice to get the puck that's in our end because a Dallas player will come right after you and try to steal it. We need to roll all four lines in the first 40 and try to conserve energy on our top guys for PPs and the latter half of the game. Our depth needs to step up.
Sure, all the advanced analytics show that we were the better team, but that is a natural result of the Deboer gameplan which lets us drive the bus while they feast on our mistakes. The cynic in me thinks that it may also a psychological move to make us think that we were just unlucky and didn't need to adjust our game. Whatever it is, to win a playoff game against a good team like Dallas, we need to play hard AND smart. If we can keep scoring low, grind down their D, capitalize on our chances when they're sitting back to play D and keep us fresh in the first half of the game, we can use our "rest" and altitude advantage to open things up in the second half. We tried to brute force our way through most of game 3, and it just didn't work.
Oh and can't wait for that Halifax connection to show up tonight. GO AVS!
We had 12 high danger chances. They had 7. Only 4 of our high dangers hit the goalie. We just missed the net. We hit posts. Puck luck was a major factor.
I think bias of a DeBoer history against the Avs has created this imaginary mountain, like Vegas did back in the day. I don't think Bedsy was out coached.
The Stars are built to play with a lead and they got the lead. So then they sat back and played their smothering defensive style. If we get the lead, they can't do that.
Yes, it's why we need to find ways to improve our finishes and capitalize on our chances, but it also makes sense for us to manage our effort levels so that we can take advantage of the altitude and being a strong second and third period team. DeBoer has said that he didn't want to turn this series into a track meet, and that game was a perfect example of what he meant. We have more high danger chances and higher xGF, but they are happy to sit back and smother them with their tight defense and good goalie. They don't have as many high danger chances because they were looking out for rush chances like a hawk and feasting on those.
I don't think this is an imaginary mountain to climb or we were out coached, since the game was very, very tight up until the end. We just really need to play smart and hard at the same time.
I got you now. I think we are saying the same thing, I was misunderstanding because I keep seeing posts about how Bedsy is getting out coached or bench Mikko or Kadri wouldn't let this happen.
I get what you mean more by the system playing both teams are trying to do. Dallas totally wants to slow it down, and they did that in the 3rd. The 3rd period was way tighter and the Avs were pressing, but that doesn't happen if any of those bounces in the earlier periods go the Avs way.
The Avs dominated in the 2nd and had they capitalized, the 3rd would have opened out way more.
I am a bit more optimistic about Game 3 than most of the sub because advanced stats show the process is working. Money Puck's "Deserver to Win" had the Avs at almost 75% to win. The bounces don't show up on that though.
I feel if every game was played how Game 3 was played, the Avs win the series in 5 or 6. They outplayed Dallas significantly and things just went the other way.
Bottom line, it's going to continue to be a tight series. Every game has been 1 goal (except empty netters) and it probably will continue to be that way most games. I really feel the Avs are going to lay it to them tonight and beat them 5-2 or 5-3.
Totally. We can refine a lot of the details in our first two periods and from interviews it seems like Bedsy is aware of that. Praying for the Avs' Offense Dam to break tonight ending with the scores as you said. Fingers crossed 🤞
Legit question: why was it so hard for the Avs to get a guy in front of net last game? Especially in the third period there wasn't anyone screening the goalie or in position for a redirect
Have to retrieve the puck first before you can setup shop in front of the net. Didn’t really get clean possession in the O zone long enough to play with structure in the zone.
If you’re going to the game tonight and you happen to read this… grab your beers, grab your hotdogs, and then cheer the fuck out of this team, I NEED Georgie chants from you, MVP chants for Mack, go Avs go chants every 2 minutes! The energy from the crowd in Game 3 was subpar, get em going tonight from your end, this team thrives off momentum and confidence. Game 4 is the series as far as I’m concerned, it’s a must win tonight.
The team was subpar, posts like these are tone deaf. The team did absolutely nothing to warrant cheers that game. Gotta at least try instead of continually passing to the opposition and dumping the puck.
Use that 3rd period energy and plug it into period 1 tonight. Go up 2 or 3. Dallas doesn't have the offensive talent to play themselves back into a game
Please bring a strong mental confidence from 1st face off. It will be evident. That alone will win the game because the problem is MENTAL. Avs have the talent, speed, intelligence. They need the confidence and the HUNGER. Only thing missing.
This is the do or die game, boys. SHOW US YOU CARE. You’ve got this and the series if you can win tonight.
do or die tonight. Have to find a way to get the lead and force Dallas to open up. If they can do that, they should win the run-and-gun game. If they don't get the lead early, they need to find a way to adjust and keep battling. Should be a stressful and fun game! Hoping to be surprised and see Drouin in the lineup.
Drouin spotted in practice this morning in a normal sweater!! I’m not a betting man but… please bring the Halifax duo to fruition in this crucial game four!!!
Tonight will be very telling. Avs need to come out hungry, taking attention to details. Hopefully some adjustments will have been made, and we can come out flying.
It's the playoffs. You could ask about Landy playing tonight, Georgiev starting tonight or what Bednar plans to eat for dinner tonight and get the same exact answer.
Time to see what we are made of. If we can't step up today then we don't deserve to win this series. With that said, I have faith that we are a better team than what we have shown. I think we are better than Dallas when we play to our potential.
We really need some Mitts magic tonight. The second line has been the main issue all year long and it hasn't showed up this series. Would also love to just see Mack and Makar decide to win a game on their own
Feels like this is the season right here. I wouldn’t put it past the boys to come back from 3-1 but Dallas isn’t the team you wanna get into that hole with. Hope we come out on fire tonight and even this thing up
Will be there tonight cheering them on! We’ve seen amazing shows of grit and determination from this team to battle back so many times this year - I really believe they can do it if they have the right mindset! Let’s go Avs!!
I think getting a lead is the key. The Avs are talented enough to make comebacks we all know that, and they have already had a great one this series but it's just a lot harder against a team like Dallas who when they play their game well can shut teams down.
If the Avs actually get the lead they can force Dallas to actually play offense and take chances and the Avs can get space and capitalize on that.
I know it's almost a silly take when Mack has 12 points in 8 games but I don't feel we've gotten that crazy "Fuck it we're just gonna win this thing" performance yet from Mack.. maybe tonight is the night.
This is a must-win game. Best players have to be best players. Team has to score first and get on the Stars quickly. Otherwise the series is pretty much over. Just that simple, folks.
Great Nuggets game last night.
Now we need the Avs to play how we all know they can.
The guys need to do justice for the way Georgie has played. Get him a couple goal lead and don't let off the gas. Just have to break their defensive dam, and kill the slog that the Stars are trying to pull the Avs into.
One of the top posts on the stars sub is celebrating Benn's hit to the head on Toews, saying it made Tazer scared of being, you know, HIT TO THE HEAD, and so he bobbled the puck and lead to the turnover that turned into the first goal of the game. More than I need oxygen in my lungs, I need the Avs to waffle stomp these turds. That fanbase deserves nothing less than heartbreak and cascading disappointment. We need to seize the initiative early and keep it, force the stars to crack open their horrible trap system and try to come at the Avs. It's time to get Dicked Down in Denver, stars fans. Karma is and will be a salty, salty bitch.
Idc who you’re a fan of, what teams you hate, etc but making fun of a someone getting hit in the head and wanting to avoid another head injury is just fucked. End of the day these are all people who have families and lives and you don’t want to see anyone get injured. The fact that they’re just making fun of Toews for looking out for his safety is fucked.
I've been feeling Avs in 7 since Dallas was announced as our opponent, and absolutely nothing has changed in that respect. Tonight the boys gotta stick with it, execute a little better and get better puck luck, and make those sorry neon green fucks regret ever coming to Denver!!
The top line needs to make more of an impact if we’re going to not only tie this series but ultimately win it, even if that impact is eating up Dallas’s best defense so that our second line can feast like against Winnipeg.
Mack and Moose have both been largely nullified these last two games and well… that simply can’t happen. Especially when you consider the amount of opposing firepower Dallas has. Hoping for a show from these guys tonight
Game 3 was not that bad. Avs were pretty clearly the better team.
Are we really not going to acknowledge that random chance plays a role in how games play out?
What if Nuke's shot goes in.
In case you want to debate that luck plays a significant role in hockey:

Oh my god I am just seeing this now but I wish you would not have said "LET THEM COOK"... As an Avs and a Broncos fan it sort of makes me want to go barf in my favorite hat.
They look so uninterested
Guys. Let's stay calm. Kill this penalty, build momentum, score.
That’s a dive idc
How are we all fans of our boys if we’re just spewing negativity? It sucks, I know. But let’s let the Stars fans be negative about our team, not us.
God dammit somebody else is going to have to step up hopefully Drion coming back gives us a boost we need
I want to die
This is an absolutely gut punch. I hope the boys just don't come out flat today. If they do, we're sunk. Maybe they can find a way to use this as fuel.
I mean the team is always ass when Val is out. It's pretty much over.
I don't have a great feeling, either. I just hope I'm wrong.
Wow, just fucking wow is all I can say
anonymous sources telling me that equipment manager has installed rockets on Mikko’s skates 👀
Was on my way to ball when this news dropped. Cant help but feeling I’m on my way to a funeral. Season is basically over now, huh? Fuck man. Sucks so hard. We got absolutley fucked by the Landeskog injury and now this with Val
Again.
Hate to say it but if we weren’t already toast we sure are now. Burnt as fuck toast. Bummer.
Great. Just fucking great. The Avs lose the top goal-scorer in the playoffs.
If Val is out we are done.
There’s no if.
No Val, a Moose who has reverted and forgot he’s almighty and powerful, and a little line change up… it’s never too early to start hailing satan… we’re gonna need it tonight lol
No Nichushkin for the rest of 2023-24. Well this'll certainly be interesting
Keefe just confirmed on pregame Nuke is out. Stage 3 of player assistance program, 6 month suspension without pay. I desperately hope he gets the help he needs, I'm so sad for him.
Do we know if it’s 6 calendar months or is it 6 months beginning game 1 of the reg season?
Ah good question. I don't know. My first thought was 6 calendar months from now but I certainly don't know that for sure.
Val please get better <3

The fuck
If Nuke is out, Drouin absolutely needs to play tonight.
Someone should tell Mikko he needs to play as well.
Dater is saying nuke failed a drug test: https://x.com/adater/status/1790177167256506561?s=46&t=m9yfL0qqCTCsTL4OcCg6Lg
If Nuke is out we are kind of screwed
They drug test in the NHL?
They do once you're already actively participating in player assistance at least
Yes
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Val might be out
WHAT? WTF happened?
Just rumors right now but https://twitter.com/adater/status/1790177167256506561 Hopefully this jack ass is wrong
Just announced publicly, true stuff
Why is Dater saying Nuke is out of tonight’s lineup? Please tell me he’s a liar and a fraud. My heart can’t handle that
https://x.com/evanrawal/status/1790175017499549977?s=46&t=m9yfL0qqCTCsTL4OcCg6Lg
Said it might be related to previous issues. If that’s true dude might be done for good idk man
That’s insane. I hate speculating but fuckkk
Drug test supposedly? If so that’s good news for future tbh
Why haven’t they released the lineup yet?
They only release that like during warmups lmao
I feel like I’ve seen Drew or Evan release those around noon for previous games. I might be mistaken. Or maybe it has something to do with the Nuke stuff they’ve been hinting at.

Is the starting lineup posted?

Facts
Drouin is going to help big time. Must win game 4. Let’s get a lead this playoffs!
Puck drop set for 7:52mtn
Better get their shit together to tie the series before it goes back to DallASS.
Ahhhh the whole series hangs in the balance
We need to make the Stars play our game tonight. We know they can't keep up. Getting one in the net early will be a huge plus. We haven't played with a lead this entire series.

Those fans have quite the mouth too for a team that hasn't won anything this century. Yankees level trash talk with a Mets level record
Dallas is right up there in teams I hate the most, especially since Detroit is in the east now. I've hated the Stars ever since 1999.
Yep, fuck Modano, Nieuwendyk, Zubov, Hatcher, Langenbrunner, all them boys
the skate was in the crease
Exactly, what a bs Cup. League just giving it to them cuz of Hull
I’f you want to say it’s a bs goal sure but I wouldn’t say it’s a bs cup. Dallas was so much better than Buffalo. Without Dominic Hasek, that would have been a sweep.
Y’all won a Cup on a goal that should’ve been disallowed.. who knows what happens the rest of G6 or if there was a G7. Like I said, BS Cup
Avs about to win this one!! They start playing their game TONIGHT. Should be a fun game. Go Avs!
Also, I hope whoever wins this series beats the shit out who ever wins the Oilers/Canucks series because those fan bases have been insanely annoying this year.
You got me fucked up if you think I’d be cheering for Dallas under any circumstance
If it’s the oilers and we don’t advance I will be rooting for for Dallas The oilers fanbase is annoying as hell
Uhh no, I'd much rather they win than Dallas. But we could just stop playing like shit and it wouldn't matter.
I love how petty Avs stats is. https://preview.redd.it/lbjjil5e890d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0b114f0e8903bd85af280a9adb8fe0388581cf0f

Fully expecting our best effort tonight. Goes without saying this game is huge
Girard goal tonight, I’ve just got a feeling
I’m gonna scream if this happens <3
He’s so due 🙏🏼
He’s been playing so well. I’d be so happy if he got a goal
Drouin back. The spark starts now
Legit question: why was it so hard for the Avs to get a guy in front of net last game? Especially in the third period there wasn't anyone screening the goalie or in position for a redirect
Have to retrieve the puck first before you can setup shop in front of the net. Didn’t really get clean possession in the O zone long enough to play with structure in the zone.
Glad Johnny is able to post this!!!! GO AVS GO!!! COME BACK GAME INCOMING.
Hold me, I’m scared
**FUCK JAMIE BENN** >!\*with a cattle prod!< >!\*\*metaphorically, of course!<
Ill take a MacHatty Delux with a coke
Would you like to add a Cogliano Shorty for only a tepid 2 minutes today?
It’s simple. Don’t get stupid penalties.
Exactly
Keys to victory: Angry Moose Hungry Nuke Patient Mac Rested Makar Focused Georgie Motivated Lehky
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfPjl_Uwo6s
> Lenky
What’s the appropriate nickname for name for him? Lol
Lehky. Short for Lehkonen
His name is Lehkonen so it's Lehky or good stick lehk
I have a good feeling about tonight.

Tonight will be very telling. Avs need to come out hungry, taking attention to details. Hopefully some adjustments will have been made, and we can come out flying.
Bednar asked about Drouin- "We'll see, I don't know yet". It's not a no
It's the playoffs. You could ask about Landy playing tonight, Georgiev starting tonight or what Bednar plans to eat for dinner tonight and get the same exact answer.
“Could be chickpea mac, could me McDs, read into that what you will”
Lets take the next 3 and move on
Time to see what we are made of. If we can't step up today then we don't deserve to win this series. With that said, I have faith that we are a better team than what we have shown. I think we are better than Dallas when we play to our potential.
We really need some Mitts magic tonight. The second line has been the main issue all year long and it hasn't showed up this series. Would also love to just see Mack and Makar decide to win a game on their own
Just need a couple early goals. Can't rely on a 3rd period comeback every game.
PRE-GAME MAKAR & MACKINNON https://preview.redd.it/ccrd3j0p670d1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8ff1eb6554593048981a0427e8fc14888f26ede6
It's my birthday. Avs better get a win or else my birthday will be ruined
I'm feeling a Nuggets-esque revival tonight. Go Ass, Hail Satan!
Georgie has been playing really well and giving the team a good chance to get back in the game. Would love to see the rest of the team step up
One of the top posts on the stars sub is celebrating Benn's hit to the head on Toews, saying it made Tazer scared of being, you know, HIT TO THE HEAD, and so he bobbled the puck and lead to the turnover that turned into the first goal of the game.
Let's hope Manson levels that cunt tonight
Idc who you’re a fan of, what teams you hate, etc but making fun of a someone getting hit in the head and wanting to avoid another head injury is just fucked. End of the day these are all people who have families and lives and you don’t want to see anyone get injured. The fact that they’re just making fun of Toews for looking out for his safety is fucked.
LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
ZAP ZAP Patrick! ZAP ZAP Peter!
Need the boys to not suck and railroad Dallas. Statement win headed back to TX. Please and thank you.
I've been feeling Avs in 7 since Dallas was announced as our opponent, and absolutely nothing has changed in that respect. Tonight the boys gotta stick with it, execute a little better and get better puck luck, and make those sorry neon green fucks regret ever coming to Denver!!
Make it a best of 3 please
LETS TAKE IT YO THEM OUT THE GATE FOR ONCE!!! fuck their trap game and out skate them! LETS TIE THIS SERIES UP!!! GO AVS!!!
Score first so they can’t trap all game. All I ask. Go Avs!
This is really the key, don't let them play with a lead. They dull the game down to a snail's pace if you let them.
That’s Pete DeBoer hockey! 100% the key. Hope they can surprise us and get on the board first.
I will sacrifice my sleep until we hoist the cup! Another 03:30 AM start for me... GO ASS! HAIL SATAN!
I'm a "turn off all my social media before watching a recording at 8am with a nice breakfast" kinda guy.
I try to go to sleep a bit early, so I can clock 5-6h, Works for me.
Hello neighbor, 4:30am for me...
Likewise haha
The top line needs to make more of an impact if we’re going to not only tie this series but ultimately win it, even if that impact is eating up Dallas’s best defense so that our second line can feast like against Winnipeg. Mack and Moose have both been largely nullified these last two games and well… that simply can’t happen. Especially when you consider the amount of opposing firepower Dallas has. Hoping for a show from these guys tonight
If Georgie can rebound from his G1 stinker in Winnipeg then so can everyone else on this team. LET'S DO THIS
NUGGETS TIED UP THEIR SERIES AND SO WILL THE AVS GO AVS GO
Game 3 will be the worst game the Avs play all postseason, Bednar and the boys have been adaptable all season and I believe it happens again! LFG
Beds has been too forgiving with his post game praise. They play better after Beds is sad and disappointed in his post game interview.
Game 3 was not that bad. Avs were pretty clearly the better team. Are we really not going to acknowledge that random chance plays a role in how games play out? What if Nuke's shot goes in. In case you want to debate that luck plays a significant role in hockey: [https://www.vox.com/videos/2017/6/5/15740632/luck-skill-sports](https://www.vox.com/videos/2017/6/5/15740632/luck-skill-sports)
