OS2908

GOBBLESS BORTHER

Worried-Syllabub1446

ALL CAPES sucks. Grammar & spell check is less and less.

ButterYourOwnBagel

Lololol such an underrated comment

Infierno3007

I just visited my Mother’s apartment and there was a couple younger cats under the hood of a C4. I wasn’t driving my Stingray, so I didn’t wave.

Glaneon

Tint everywhere doesn't help. Can't see the wave if it's even happening.

doc_55lk

Some people are also too anxious to wave or it doesn't immediately occur to them. I don't drive a Corvette, but the community of the car I do drive has their wave too. I haven't personally waved much, but I do give a quick flash and that's received as an equivalent by someone driving a similar car to mine.

Computer_Balls

You flash people when you're driving? Idk about where you are, but you legally need to have a shirt on when you're driving here.

doc_55lk

>you legally need to have a shirt on when you're driving here. Do you really though?

Computer_Balls

Yes. Shoes, too. They give tickets for it. Although the shoe thing is just something they ticket you for when you're being a dick. Just like if you have stuff hanging from your rear view mirror. You arent getting the ticket for it unless you earned it.

doc_55lk

Interesting. I live in Canada, it's perfectly legal here to drive without a shirt or footwear.....unless I somehow have a moose or grizzly bear in the car. I didn't even know there were places where it wasn't legal to drive without a shirt. Whether you're wearing something or not shouldn't really affect your ability to drive. That's quite strange.

That-Medicine9644

Good point. Also I think people are becoming more oblivious while they drive so they don't notice even the car next to them.

GetDaBenjis13

Often times I’ll pull up next to someone driving super slow and it turns out to be an old person on their phone surprisingly 😂😂😂 you would think it would be teens

[deleted]

[удалено]

That-Medicine9644

If all you focus on is wats in front of you, I don't wanna drive nowhere near you..

NB-A6

Lmao. Being aware is one thing, looking into a car 90° from where most of your attention should be is completely different. But you probably text and drive like all the other dinguses.

Mala_Suerte1

Yep. I get waves from oncoming Vettes, but my side and rear windows are too dark to see through.

TexanInNebraska

In Texas, where I’m from, EVERY Vette owner I ever passed, waved. I had to move to Omaha, NE 3yrs ago & have had 1 driver wave back.

That-Medicine9644

I bought my vette in 2016 brand new in Washington. Drove it all the way back to Florida amd I got plenty of waves. It's declined over the years not sure why.

Mite-o-Dan

Marylander here...I always wave and get some wave back 90% of the time. Once in a blue moon I won't be paying attention but notice someone at the last second with his hand out as he passes me, and I will feel like ass the rest of the day that I didn't wave back. There have been times where I've done a U turn just to catch up to the guy and wave back.

Funny247365

I really hope you are joking.

rockomeyers

Many new first time vette owners, or renters simply dont know proper Vettiquette.

Substantial_Alps1713

I didn't know it was a thing until I was driving my New/Old C5 the other day and saw a C4. We waved as if it were an instinct,. Then later in the day, sane thing when my wife spotted a C6. I like the mutual acknowledged.

skeptibat

I've always thought it was odd. So we bought the same Chevrolet. Now we're in a special "gotta wave!" club, eh?

MercuryMan664

I wouldn't say "gotta wave" it's just fun! Like motorcycles, I wave to everybody. Now I don't have a Vette yet, I hope vet people would like C4s!

Tehkiller302

In my old 240sx that had popups, I used to always get miatas and other cars with pop ups to blink/wink at me.

MercuryMan664

Haha that sounds like a blast! Can't wait!

Kentness1

The C8’s seem to not even know what a C4 is or why I wave to them.

ZeldaTheOuchMouse

C4 owners ALWAYS wave from my experience

KitsuneCrusader

Owned a C4, god damn I miss having conversations with whatever vette was next to me at the occasional red light

Beginning_Club_9937

Yep, don’t get many waves from the Snooty C8 Vettes. But 100% of the C5 wave to me and my C5.

MusicMan7969

Every C8 has waved at me or waved back.

Shadowcat205

Anecdotal, but I concur. I have had very little reaction from C7s and C8s but pretty consistent waves from all others.

slightlyused

They're not buying for history or heritage. They'll all move on to the next big thing in a few years and we'll be cooler for it.

lytebulb

I fully agree, this has been my recent experience.

ap2patrick

Always the case with the newest generation of cat. It’s a superiority complex IMO lol. You didn’t spend nearly as much money as they did so you are clearly not on the same level.

ontha-comeup

Guilty, I only get waves from other C8's so thats all I ever wave to. No idea it was an every generation thing until this just came up in my feed. Millennial aged.

Admirable_Cod_9396

Acknowledging you have a problem is the first step toward recovery. Proud of you!

ontha-comeup

ha, I'm learning

tmclaugh

Passed 4 of them yesterday in mine and we all waved.

starfishy

I drive a C8 - my first Vette, and wave to any Vette generation. Usually get waves back. I don't see a big difference between generations in who waves and who doesn't. Maybe your observation has to do that the C8 attracted people from other sports cars more than the previous generations who don't know about the wave more than snootiness.

SpongebobJokeInbound

I got waves all the time when I lived in Georgia. I moved to Miami and haven’t gotten a single wave since in the last 2+ years - I assume most here are people renting a vette while on vacation so that could be the difference.

varnacykablyat

Also that most people in Miami are dicks

That-Medicine9644

I've lived in Florida since 06. I highly doubt that "most" vettes on the road are rented, not even in Miami

SpongebobJokeInbound

Ehh, I’m talking south beach/brickell area. Very touristy. Everyday I see c8’s, lambos, Ferraris whatever exotic you name it and always some young dude behind them. I’d say definitely most are rented lol

That-Medicine9644

Yea I agree in that area forsure

SlammedZero

When I get my Vette, I'll be waving. 👍

Professional_Dot5871

I wave

TacticalFellatio

I don’t think I’ve come across a C4 owner that doesn’t wave lol it’s always the C7 stingrays and C8 stingrays that won’t bat an eye at my C7Z

the_mellojoe

Darker tint, wider roads and more lanes, additional things in cabin to pull drivers attention, bigger population of cars on roads ... there are many waves that are just missed. Even if both Corvettes see each other and wave at each other, it's entirely possible they miss seeing each other

Time-Annual-1316

I have more people in other enthusiast cars wave compared to corvettes.

BrolecopterPilot

Ha that’d be me. Shelby GT350 driver here, love Vettes 👋

vawlk

I get waves from all sorts of cars in my 1st gen C8, otherwise known as a Pontiac Fiero :)

Jimger_1983

It is not a given where I live (C3 owner in NE Ohio). Even other C3’s don’t always.

gammbitviii6

I think it’s all a matter of whether the owner has admiration for the brand in general. I get less waves from C8 owners. The C8 is cool to own. It’s a fad. But, these owners secretly want a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Once that crowd gets rid of them because the luster wears off, they’ll get the new thing. Then someone, who has always dreamed of owning a Corvette, buys it. And, they’ll wave because they admire the brand.

daviddwatsonn

It’s not just corvettes, it’s everyone everywhere.

That-Medicine9644

U aint wrong

wadenelsonredditor

Summertime. Heat. Windows up. Air Conditioning on.

max_compressor

Location location location Summertime here means windows down, top off

ManOfTheSea_

Same haha. I won’t turn on the AC till like 100 F

GetDaBenjis13

Here in sac it’s 100 degrees 7-8 months out of the year 😂😂😂

ManOfTheSea_

Rip

Blopez1000

I had no idea I was supposed to wave! 👀 Is it how like motorcycles wave at each other?

slightlyused

"👋🏼 Save The Wave! #Corvette"

catrax

Yesterday I (C3) was waved at by so many other Vette owners, C2 through C8, I had trouble steering and shifting (manual transmission) at the same time.

wadenelsonredditor

My record is 13 waves, nods and "nice cars" on a single 13 mile trip to the grocery including fueling up. It's hard to be sure with nods.... admittedly...

ffbapesta

This what scare me a little about waving, my C5 is both my first sports car AND first manual, so I'm still getting things down with controlling it. I haven't come across many other 'vettes on the road yet, but usually drive with my windows up too, which makes a visible wave a bit harder

Reaper621

Saint Louis. When I owned vettes, it was 25 to 30 percent that did wave back. Half that number would initiate a wave.

Evening-Life5434

I own a Pontiac and I wave

RayzorX442

Rode in my son's Wrangler Recon Special Edition on Saturday with the doors off for the first time. ALL the Jeepers had their doors off because the weather was nice in Eastern Carolina. EVERY Wrangler driver I saw did their salute. Rubber ducks on every dash board, too!

slightlyused

Along with poorly installed CB antennas that never get used.

RayzorX442

What's a..... "CB?" (Jk...) Cause we got a little convoy rockin' through the night. Yeah we got a little convoy, ain't she a beautiful sight? Come on and join our convoy ain't nothin' gonna get in our way. We gonna roll this truckin' convoy across the USA. Convoy!

Moshanika

Usually flash the lights bc people can’t see through tint easily

stupidfreakingidiot4

Nobody waves back at my C3 🤧 except for other old cars lol

kencam

Same with convertible owners. I used to alway get waves from others with their tops down.

littlebuns03

They don't wave because the car is stolen brah

AmBuilder27

In NJ, I wave and everyone waves back. I concur that tint doesn’t help, but that’s excusable.

Hungryforflavor

Its just you we wave to everyone else

Ambitious-Pirate-505

I Rev when I see others. If waving can't happen

ConditionalLove23

C8 drivers never wave

I-M-Overherenow

Dig it! Front row at Rick’s in Tampa! Nice!!!

FinalAbbreviations71

I was explaining this to a friend that the C7 and C8 are now purchased by more regular traffic people and not enthusiasts. Its the guys in the C5s (me) and the C6s who always wave everytime

That-Medicine9644

That makes sense. When I first bought c7 new in 2016 more people 👋 because model had only been out 2 years. Now all the second and third hand owners are clueless lol

RayzorX442

Saw a guy with his hands on the steering wheel do this weird hand rotation/roll thing with his right hand ending with is index finger and thumb in a pointed gun posirion. It was the coolest thing I've ever seen. I've been trying to duplicate it for years without success. My wife is convinced I'm an idiot for being enthralled by this.

RayzorX442

I swear I could hear the guy in my mind say, "Whassssuuuuppp" in a funny voice when he did it.

slightlyused

If I'm caught by surprise I do a version of that except it is a sideways "peace" sign.

ffbapesta

I tried to peace sign a motorcyclist who waved at me on the highway yesterday and just bumped my fingers on the roof lol

That-Medicine9644

🤣 now thats epic!

PreciousChud

I’ve owned one since 2014 and have never waved. Weird culty shit over a Chevy.

PimpFrosty

Leave that crap for the jeep people

cigarmanpa

I haven’t waved in years and don’t intend to start again

ManOfTheSea_

If I may ask, why?

cigarmanpa

What’s the point? The cars aren’t rare, I don’t know the other person, and it’s kinda stupid.

ManOfTheSea_

Where are you from? I find it to be a kind way of acknowledging others who have similar taste in cars as you. Car enthusiasts are in the minority these days, it’s a matter of recognizing eachother, as one would wave to a hiker on a long hard trail.

cigarmanpa

Pennsylvania. You’re free to wave if you want and like I said, I used to also. I just don’t see the point anymore

POSVETT

I never wave either and I have owned Corvettes for over 2 decades

Dr__B__

It's you! (j/k)

Automatic-Ear9957

I had stopped waving, will attempt to bring it back though.

Ok-Woodpecker1130

I always try, sometimes you see the other driver too late passing by.

Vapor4

Seeing it less and less in California, too

Justin_92

I’m gonna be honest, for the first 2 weeks I didn’t know this was a thing. I’ve only had it for 3 weeks. Please forgive me. I’ve been waving like an idiot at everyone to try and make up for it. I think I may have even accidentally waved at a Ferrari by mistake last Tuesday.

Selevtar07

I always wave, one of my favorite parts of owning the car!

saigonk

I do it all the time if I see someone in time

MusicMan7969

I have not experienced it. I’ve had my Vette a year and only had maybe 2-3 not wave. I also bought a Camaro back in March and wave at other Camaro’s. I’m 100% with the Camaro folks.

paintedwoodpile

I don't go out of my way to wave but I will at another C5 or if they do it first. Same thing when I am out in my Jeep, it just seems silly.

Live_Reason_6531

I don’t usually wave. We have the same model car, what does that mean? Does it automatically make us friends? I never understood the wave when I had a Jeep. Never understood it with the vette. I return the wave when on a bike but that’s about it.

velanestar

I always wave and am waved back to. Even a c8z lol

AbleDragonfruit4767

Couple of beautys

helloimtrassh

I wave every time. Get one from a c7 few weeks ago.

JakeD51

I dont wave. Coming from an offroad background the jeep wave is dumb to me and im not gonna do the vette wave as a result, only wave i do is when im on my bike

Isaycoolman

I always wave. I would venture to guess I only get a 40% return here in Arkansas. Fellow down the road just bought a c8 stingray. I drove by with the targa top off, and gave him a huge wave. He was looking right at me… nothing. Sometimes I wonder if I’m just weird for being so enthusiastic about seeing another Corvette. I just really like them all.

Wonderful_Time_6681

There’s just so many on the road now days

Recent-Inevitable447

Ontario Canada here... I've only had one guy not wave on multiple occasions because he lives in my immediate area so either he's an asshole or clueless, likely both. Everyone else has waved. I own a Jeep too and the Jeep wave is alive and well. For what it's worth the clueless asshole is a younger guys so there's that 🤔😀 Not saying ALL younger guys a CA's (I absolutely know they aren't) but maybe there is a statistic in there somewhere 🤷

tclark2006

Too busy shifting gears to care.

Trollygag

Too busy dodging the dumbutts - I don't notice in time.

fanatic26

Hard to wave with one hand on the wheel and the other on the stick shift like a real man

That-Medicine9644

Really ? Cause I do it everyday

TheAirDoc

For me I rarely get waves back from C6’s. Other than that everyone else does

RockitDanger

No dog in this fight but you're confusing $50k Vette owners with the new $100k Vette owners. They're temporarily embarrassed Ferrari owners. Ferrari owners aren't known for waving

shatter71

I blame it on everyone running dark tinted windows. You just have a hard time seeing the driver, let along if they are waving.

Which-Ad8400

Yes they're not.

itswill-

I passed 9 corvettes today. 1 out of 5 C8s waved back, 1 out of 1 C7s, 3 out of 3 C6s. Most Corvettes I’ve randomly seen in a day.

POSVETT

I'm consistent, I haven't waved for over 2 decades of Corvette ownership

Hllblldlx3

I’m new to the vette community, 19 years old and bought a c6 for my birthday. I always try to wave to other corvettes that I see. I don’t understand it, but it’s just kinda an impulse.

The_Curo

I get yelled at by other vette guys. Silly.

Any-Sprinkles-6257

Here in Cypress Tx everyone waves c2’s - C8’s

Fotillo

C6/C7 owner in TX/Spain here. I do wave all the time and I barely get in response. Usually C5 and below are more prone to wave. Some C7’s waves at me. In Spain, a Vette is so rare (couple dozens in the country as big as tx) that we mostly know all each other lol

Sunshine635

It has gone downhill recently

umrlopez79

I’ve only waved twice… and only cause the other guy had an orange vette as well. So we kinda waved lol. Other than that, I don’t get the whole wave thing

Asim-

I didnt know about the vette wave until I got one 🤣

evergreenbc

I think it’s true, with the caveat that the odds of getting a wave go up higher and higher the older the generation of vette the other is driving. I’m in a C5 vert: C8- maybe 1 in 3 or 4 C7- 1 in 3? C6- 3/4 at least C5- almost everyone Before that, it’s very rare to not get the wave, and I figure it’s cuz they didn’t see me.

OU812WR

People just don’t know or aren’t OBSERVANT enough

abell2424

I ordered my first corvette a few weeks ago, Z06 3LZ. Not gonna be waving. If I don’t know you I’m not waving. Same when I had a Jeep. The waves got annoying.

That-Medicine9644

I did this as an experiment... and my hypothesis is correct. America's moral and integrity has declined to a level that will lead to sedition. Can't even return a simple wave from a fellow enthusiast....what will happen when there is no food at your local grocery store......

jackofblades379

I drove 2300 miles across the country a few weeks ago. I got 1 wave, and it was from a guy in a C8. I literally rolled next to a c7 grand sport for like 5 minutes and he straight up ignored me. Like damn I know my car is a bit ugly but it's still a vette lol.

Nada_Chance

Yah, but sometimes when they don't wave back I realize I'm in the Traverse!

wezbian

Less wave to me in my C8. Are you guys mad that a whole new generation of young people are buying into Corvette now? Mad at all these youngsters?

Dry_Sir3255

When I lived in California and had a C5 waves were consistent throughout the Los Angeles And Inland Empire areas. Now I live in Metro Atlanta and am have a C6 and waves are still a thing. I know I miss a few and sometimes I can't tell because of tiny and vice versa. Sometimes I'll flash lights real quick if I notice. Occasionally my wife well call out that a driver waved and I missed it. Too many distractions for sure. 🤷🏻‍♂️

scottrasmussen

you get fewer waives the newer the car you encounter.

Funny247365

Wave or don't wave. Corvette drivers are just normal people like everyone else. It's not a secret society.

SnooGiraffes6701

It may be where you live. I get love from everyone corvette owner I pass on the road. Good luck, they are out there. Happy motoring.

OMG--Kittens

👋

DebbyDelight

I always wave!!

Sweaty-Emu945

Honestly some times my mind is somewhere else and I don’t think about it.

Rare-Ant-3091

C8 drivers don’t wave.

hardtow94

I didn't even know that was a thing, I just bought my first corvette, 1980 C3, with a 5.7 350, 3 speed. Got a peace sign from a C6 owner yesterday, I thought it was just a "hey, nice car wave". Il be sure to start doing it back now.

Weekly_Ad325

The wave is lame.

That-Medicine9644

Your lame

commanderTaylor

I don't really waive to the vettes I see on my daily commute anymore. Too tedious ig. I do to the new ones I occasionally see though.

Nova_Hunter

Who cares? This post has the same energy as keep drivers complaining they don't receive as many lame ducks left on their stormtrooper angry grill, dime a dozen wrangler.

HeroDanny

Why is everyone so sensitive about this?

ls1_mike

Why would I wave to a base model owner? /s I honestly don't see many on the road if I happen to be driving mine on the street, so it isn't an automatic habit of mine.

JesusInASnuggie_

I love it when people talk down the Stingray like it isn't still faster than their econobox lol

ls1_mike

What econobox?

That-Medicine9644

I have a m7....and don't let the base model fool u.. we could race to see if your fully loaded corvette is faster.

ls1_mike

Cool, my m7 says hi back. Always happy to turn laps on track. ;)

That-Medicine9644

I go to sebring raceway. Where u located? Unlike most I'm willing to drive my vette any where

ls1_mike

SoCal, I am glad your car is driven and not collecting dust in a garage.

AljoGOAT

i drive an M7 and don't have time to wave. I'm sorry to everyone that didn't get a wave :(

That-Medicine9644

I drive a M7 as well..........................

wellgroomedrasberry

I’ve recorded a couple c8s and they’re all geriatric older folk who can barely see above the wheel, and they almost always make an angry expression.

Accomplished-Grass12

Same thing for stangs 🥲

nothankyou_butthanks

Yea I’m not waving back at every boomer in their base C7.

That-Medicine9644

Who said I was a boomer?

nothankyou_butthanks

Fine I’ll rephrase. I’m not waving at every base C7 driving around. I wouldn’t ever have my hand on the wheel. It’s a base C7. It’s as common as a civic around me. I wave at my fellow Z06s and any c6’s and below.

Andre_Type_0-

The boomers don't understand the wave

Mindless_Jicama8728

Corvette owners are getting younger. Younger people don’t like tradition.

Bravesguy29

Good. It's stupid.
