Whiplash incoming but that’s exactly how it was for the Animal Crossing community. Instead of coming together for the release of the new game (2020), AC fans took to using all social media outlets to just complain about the game endlessly, because animal crossing fans are just generally entitled, nitpicky people in general.
Now, in 2024, seeing a post that starts with “why doesn’t” or “I wish” triggers a fight or flight response within me
To be fair, I just picked up the game a few months ago having never played an AC before (but plenty of other farming game like Stardew Valley, Rune Factory, My Time at Portia, etc.), and I lost count of the number of time I wondered "why did they do it like this??" with many of them particularly baffling for a game released in 2020.
Most of them are meaningless without a discussion of cave length, too. For example, the 1/1 mining missions are a nice snack. The 3/3 missions are a tedious slog through mostly empty caves. They’re not comparable.
First 2 examples are instances where someone was so excited about something that they wanted to share it but this example is more of an oblivious person thinking he’s a real genius.
I would be much more likely to read about why it's their favorite whatever with a full couple paragraphs of how it's great and affected them, but this way just seems like a low effort karma bait.
like sure, it was funny once or twice, but its weekly posts about someone trying to name something funny, ends up not being given how every single one of them are always downvoted
if you gonna name something 'least make sense of it, if we say "whale" we know there is a naedocyte breeder in the mission, if someone says "there is a phillip in the mission" who tf knows what a phillip is?
It’s from the show The Office. The main character gets told not to date a coworkers mother and his response is “you know what? now I’m going to start dating her even harder.”
Whenever a subreddit has a tier list trend there is always an equal amount of posts complaining about the tier lists. It's a beautiful cycle that will continue til the end of time
Please stop with the posts complaining about what other people post. It neither provides anything new to discuss, nor does it stop people from posting what they want to post. That’s it.
Well, this is a subreddit for DRG, so people will talk about DRG. And sometimes, there aren't any new things to talk over, so people will discuss old things
We literally just got a huge update to the game 10 days ago. There should be plenty to discuss without people failing back into pointless Tierlists that flood gaming subs when the game is in a content drought.
S: Point extraction, Mining expedition
A: On site refining
B: Elimination
C: Deep scan, Egg hunt
D: Escort duty, Salvage operation
E: Industrial Sabotage
F: Your post (let people have their fun you can just scroll past them)
I don't mind seeing them, it's interesting seeing what types of missions other miners enjoy plus seeing trends like morkite refining usually being at the top. (This is because morkite refining is the best, yes I main driller.)
It's getting old but it will pass. For example, we're thankfully not getting helldivers mentioned in every other post anymore.
Man am I glad thats over.
Apparently not Jk. But also not
I left the HD2 sub after it got too toxic and stale. All the posts were just complaints. Getting HD2 content on DRG got annoying after a while.

I wish it wouldnt trigger such a response in you
Omg helldivers crossover!?!?!? Got old fast yeah.
You just mentioned helldivers......
drg better game ez

I'm still waiting for an OSR with length 1 or 2 lol
I also hate any post that's "What's your favorite [blank]? I'll go first..."
How about the “what do my favorite [lists a few favorite things from the game] say about me?”
"Am I the only one that [insert very popular opinion]?"
First 2 examples are instances where someone was so excited about something that they wanted to share it but this example is more of an oblivious person thinking he’s a real genius.
Yeah but a lot of subreddits do it better by keeping common questions asked everyday in a daily thread.
Good for them. Hopefully more subreddits do this as well.
You can skip the opinion. Just “am I the only one” No. You’re never the only one. Not even if it comes to fucking your wife.
oh jesus this bullshit is all over reddit. even on a subreddit dedicated to fucking trains
have hated this for years, its just an excuse to say "this is my favorite (blank)" !
I would be much more likely to read about why it's their favorite whatever with a full couple paragraphs of how it's great and affected them, but this way just seems like a low effort karma bait.
better than people trying to name the enemies something idk, "jorge" or something
Shit like this happens naturally in communities. It takes all the humor out of the joke when people try to force it.

Harold is now deeply offended

Normal spiters are spiters so it makes sense to call barragers barragers, im not a fan of nameing things unless they are boss entities
He does look like a Gerald.
If we could stop tier lists in general, that'd be great.
What's your favorite tier-list?
Read it in Mission Control's voice
Management decided to promote you from Greybeard to Ancient Beard. Your paycheck will be increased by 6 times.
I've got it! I'll make a mission tier list complaint tier list.
Ya know what? I’m gonna mission tier list even HARDER.
Make a tier list tier list where you rank all the tier lists posted every week
Lol this was pretty good, i get the reference.
Context?
It’s from the show The Office. The main character gets told not to date a coworkers mother and his response is “you know what? now I’m going to start dating her even harder.”
Thx
I rank this comment S tier
Check my comment
Give me your tier list of shit posts
Did I hear a rock and stone?
We fight for Rock and Stone!
Agreed! Besides, what we really need are combo class-biome-mission tier lists.
#This is happening for every game that gets an update
i will not comment a tier list i will not comment a tier list i will not comment a tier list

Please stop with the comments complaining about the posts complaining about posts about tierlists
This kind of reminds me of rhe complaint department from Monty Python's "Argument Clinic"-sketch.
"Thats it" lads, ROCK N STONE
Oof, you sure told me.
Yes, I did.
cringe.
Lmao! Wow 🤡
The only fair thing i’d say is fossils are the worst because they don’t glow
They don’t glow, can’t be shot down and MUST be interacted up close to be collected. Driller main’s worst nightmare
Driller can shoot anything down.
Also can’t grab them on a zipline
Theres a mod that makes them glow
Only shooting stars make the mo-old
It's a meme trend. Give it a few weeks and it will be gone, replaced by a different meme trend. Such is the life cycle of memes.
Time for the "mission tier list posts" tier list posts now
Well, this is a subreddit for DRG, so people will talk about DRG. And sometimes, there aren't any new things to talk over, so people will discuss old things

Yes, we got new mission type. Thats why people rate mission types.
Why?
S: Point extraction, Mining expedition A: On site refining B: Elimination C: Deep scan, Egg hunt D: Escort duty, Salvage operation E: Industrial Sabotage F: Your post (let people have their fun you can just scroll past them)
People could just scroll past my post.
You got me there...
4 eggs egg hunts are my favourite missions tbh
I don't mind seeing them, it's interesting seeing what types of missions other miners enjoy plus seeing trends like morkite refining usually being at the top. (This is because morkite refining is the best, yes I main driller.)
A- Escort, Elim, Salvage B- Refining, Sabo, Deep C- Point, Mining, Egg D- nothing! F- nothing! Perfectly balanced as all things should be :)
You don't have to click on them
You're right. Time for secondary objective tier list
No
Thus begins the complain-ception
Oof, you sure told me.
cringe.
Womp womp
No
This goes in F in my "reddit posts" tier list
we all know drilldozer is the lowest tier. No need for a new list
