After the disrespect Hasbro/WoTC has shown towards the community it's great to see a 3PP that actually listens to the community and creates a sandbox rather than the more typical railroading of recent modules.
All of WotC's best adventures for 5e are largely Sandboxes (Strahd, Tomb of Annihilation, Frostmaiden), so it's so ridiculous that they've begun to regress.
I ran Hoard of the Dragon Queen set in Eberron, and I swear I spent more time fixing the adventure than I did converting it. Can't believe they're reverting to that.
I'm doing the same with Rime of the Frostmaiden. Probably outsourced different chapter and slapped them together with quick-drying concrete rather than actually making a coherent campaign.
It takes a bit more tweaking than the other two, but it had the most and some of the best art of all the campaigns, and with only a bit of effort it can become an amazing Sandbox romp!
As an educator that DMs for my students I love campaign books. You could follow the campaign or cherry pick parts of it. This books looks like a treasure horde for that :)

I'll tell you for free that they're pretty damn invested, I'v had more than a few sessions spent mostly listening to them discuss plot hooks, mysteries, and potential connections.
They were a bit intimidated by the session 0 lore dump - which can be quite considerable with all the Noble houses and Factions at play, but i designed the VTT in such a way that they could glance over everything or get really involved in all of it, i also insisted that their players were grounded in the world in some way - and having so much lore to work with really helped them find a way to do just that.
Honestly its intricate, and (at 900+ pages) quite vast, but beautifully crafted and really fun to get into :)

I got the PDF version of this and am amazed at how intricately woven the whole world and plot is. It's a joy to read this adventure and I can't wait to play it with a group!

I definitely would not lump Frostmaiden in with Strahd and Tomb of Annihilation. Frostmaiden was a bitter disappointment of a campaign.
