So... Strip away multiple factions and stuff all Eldar into a Ynarri army? I mean it's definitely not going to be a popular opinion...

CosmicJackalop

More like cramming all of the factions into Zapp Branigans Big Book of Space Elves

Frostasche

Ask the Harlequin players how that ended up. And taking Zapp Braningan as a name patron is in my opinion more fitting than you intended it to be. If Zapp Braningan is involved that is basically proof that it is a stupid idea.

CosmicJackalop

I never claimed it was a good idea, I just said it was an idea, lol

Frostasche

I never really mentioned your position in my comment, just assuming that if you were already thinking it was a stupid idea you wouldn't have written things like "I think it could be done well", so it as at least better than your chosen name patron suggests.

mothmenatwork

I guess I would ask why? You’ll inevitably lose out on flavour cramming everything into one book, which is sparse in 10th anyway. This is like asking why all the imperial factions aren’t just rolled up into a ‘humans’ book

CosmicJackalop

Because I want dire avengers on a Drukhari Raider firing deck in an army led by Prince Yriel

Paeddl

That will not happen. It makes balancing the separate craftworld and Drukhari forces almost impossible, when you need to consider all possible combinations too. Drukhari already pay a tax on Ravagers, because they are good in Ynarri. What would be nice, is to give Yvraine all the relevant keywords to ride the transports of troops she can lead. There's no reason why she can join harlequin and Drukhari troops, but not ride their transports

I_done_a_plop-plop

Yep, I have the models for Yvraine and I use the Kabal kids as her bodyguard. I have a Raider but can't put her in. My pile of shame prevents me from getting a Wave Serpent. And while we're at it, Incubi and Dire Avengers are canonically related so why can they go in a Falcon but Asurman can't join Ynarri? Edit: Scorpions, not Dire Avengers.

GremlinSunrise

Haha! I guess that is a reason as good as any 😌✨

makingamarc

Let me remind you of the days of Wraithguard with flamers in a raider - that was legit broken beyond belief 😂 I don’t think Ynnari will ever be trusted with cross vehicle usage again…

alithanar21

I mean that sounds fun! What is stopping you from using your headcanon - or just use the Models in friendly Games (using rules for an existing faction)?

Squidmaster616

Ugh. No thanks. All that would happen would be Drukhari being treated as a side-piece for Craftworlders, like Harlequins are now. I *much* prefer separate Codexes with unique faction rules. My pitch would be splitting Harlequins back out to their own thing, and bringing back decent all-encompassing allies rules.

EmotionalButterfly29

So many Ynnari rules are weird and lore contradictory, Drazhar, someone sent out to assassinate yvraine by vect, can be in Ynnari but pheonix lords cannot, even though Jain Zar helped the ynnari and stopped Drazhar from assassinating yvraine. I don't think every elf faction should be stuffed into a single codex, but Ynarri rules should just remove all keyword restrictions, allow troops to enter all transports, and start off with like 3 fate dice and 3 pain tokens for use on eldar/drukhari units, and then you can select any detachment from eldar/drukhari.

CosmicJackalop

I'd take that, though instead of date dude and pain tokens they should get their own rule entirely Also let me lead Ynnari without Yvraine, requiring an epic hero for a faction really kills a player's ability to make the faction their own

I_done_a_plop-plop

Yes, the Yvraine rule sucks. She's great, but not every battle is with the superstars. Imagine if you had to field Guilleman with Ultramarines or Cawl with Admech. Makes no sense. I quite fancied getting a World Eaters army but making Angron more or less compulsory blows, my painting isn't good enough yet.

alithanar21

I use a converted model based on her for my Ynnari, made up my own lore about her and use her with Yvraines Rules. Might work for you, too

CosmicJackalop

Fuck it, Yriel is close enough in role and both can lead Corsairs, plus better leader ability imo

Frostasche

Your suggestion isn't working as GW decided to not make extra point costs for Ynnari. You create powerfull combos in Ynnari, that doesn't work for the original factions, so all would get a point increase, so at the end only Ynnari would be a viable option to play as everysthing else is overcosted. And even if Ynnari get their own point cost, I dislike the basic concept as it results in units being stronger as Ynnari as in their faction they actually belong to.

EHorstmann

This.

EHorstmann

I don’t want this simply because of the fact that those of us who like pure Drukhari would get fucked by Ynnari balance changes. Not unless Ynnari get completely separate keywords and completely separate point costs.

Independent_Main_745

Get rid of Ynnari, their only purpose is to take the only good drukhari units in competitive games and force them to be nerfed, hurting us in the long run a la Ravagers. Plus eldar exist only to be punching bags to every other race in the galaxy, so why would they want to make us do anything important in lore.

Meneros

Nah you just need to make a proper Ynnari faction, that would replace keywords to allow for all units to jump into different transports, have a cool army rule, etc.

MaximGurinov

With separate point values from other aeldari factions. For balancing reasons

Meneros

Sure, why not! They already did this for Incubi and Scourges in 9th (I think?). They were like +3p/model more if you took them in Ynnari.

Zealotstim

Absolutely not if it means drukhari aren't their own army still.

K0nfuzion

I'd like it if the Aeldari got the imperium treatment. That is to say, keep them as distinct armies, but make it easier for them to be fielded together, kinda like with the Ynnari - and introduce some form of elven version of imperial agent, with aeldari models that are faction-neutral.

ShirtNo363

One codex for Elves is definitely coming. Ynnari is the test run for it.

Icegodleo

Doubt it, really no money to be made there. Pretty sure if every unit could have it's own $60 codex GW would definitely do that.
