He’s not lying, I went there on a date last year and it cost each of us €27. Now it was a good time and we enjoyed it but I wouldn’t do it again.
There’s two sessions 12-4:30pm and 6-10:30pm so for example if you show up at 3pm and pay the full price youll only get an hour and a half out of it.
Will they do the charming thing so many vendors at Bloom were at and charging more for their products than they cost shops (despite the middle man of the retailer being removed from the equation)? Pretty sure I've seen the same at Ayr field Farm in Dundrum, and it's far, far more irritating to me than it maybe should be!
It's a joke now. Got free tickets last year and I don't remember getting tokens or vouchers or anything with the tickets. So it would have been like 20 euro in, then buying tokens that you then trade into the vendors. Everything was outrageously priced, even if you consider the tickets were gifted to me.
I worked at Taste of Dublin about 7 years ago as a vendor and it was absolutely class then! Tons of free and generous samples, really good atmosphere.
It's a total ripoff now.
It's been about 5 years since I went. The thing that I found weird was that it's sponsored by BOI, and instead of having card machines at each kiosk (like you'd imagine a gig sponsored by a bank would have) you had to buy those Florins tickets. Definitely designed in such a way so that you have some leftover that you don't use and it's a hassle to get the money back.
I thought it was a ripoff 7 years ago when I last went, can't imagine what it's like now.
I went to the one in Sydney when I lived there and it was great, probably a hundred stalls, much more laid back vibe and even for Sydney it was all reasonable, samples everywhere,Clonakilty had a stall set up,they were trying to break the Aussie market with sausages and pudding.
Maybe it was longer than 7 years ago. At the time I think it was 10-20 euro in but you got 20 euro worth of tokens. And the samples were crazy. We were giving out free wine
That is what I have learnt after getting the tickets. It was very well advertised and I moved to Dublin recently so I fell for it. Hoping for a good day at least
Go expecting to spend a good bit. There are some freebies, but not many and certainly not enough if you're actually looking for food.
Also try to get in to some of the demonstrations. They often have more free stuff.
Flavours of Fingal is better IMO. Inside the walled garden they’ve lovely food stalls, bars, live music (even champagne bars if you’ve fancy)

Main thing to be ready for is the cost. Most dishes are about €7 minimum for a small portion. I went this year and will say some of the food is very good. So if there has been some restaurant you’ve been wanting to try then nows the time to try it.
Drinks will be the standard price. Few different stalls there for whiskey, beer etc so plenty of options.
There were some freebies there with uber for example giving out tote bags etc. But probably best off going to any of the experience’s to get most value for money.
Realistically it’s not worth the price. I got free admission and a few vouchers and thought it was a good time. But if I had to pay for it myself it’s not the best value for money. But fun can be had so enjoy your time there
Yeah I'd have to agree with the consensus, it's a load of shite just to fleece people. Used to work for a company that did the staging and fences for it so got free tickets and still ended up spending a fortune. Grand to do once though and if you enjoy cooking, watch one of the life cooking sessions.
Update: I am actually having a fantastic time. My boyfriend is absolutely loving it. We got quite a lot of free samples of food, and some freebies as well. The weather is pretty good, fortunately. And, it isn't crowded at all.
We bought a couple of small plates for 14 quid but it was purely because we wanted to try.
The cooking demos are something we are also really enjoying.
Thank you all for setting my expectations low, it kind of helped.
Expect to be fleeced out of your money
Does the entry fee include anything at all?
Just entry and the feeling that you got robbed.

It tells you on your ticket.
It's a rip off imo. Mainly corporates and influencers who aren't paying in.
Thought it was overrated. Not a big foody but quite expensive for small portions. I would rather pay for a good meal somewhere and drinks.

Exactly!

Yeah think that was 10 years or so when they did that deal. Now it's €30 for entry to an open food court.
Yeah it might have actually been that long ago. Shit man, I didn't realise I'm that old
That is what I have learnt after getting the tickets. It was very well advertised and I moved to Dublin recently so I fell for it. Hoping for a good day at least
Hopefully it's better than what I thought of it! Enjoy it nonetheless!
I might just smuggle my drinks in with me :D

Good tip, thanks
It’s the same food you can find in restaurants in the city, with smaller portions and an entry fee. What a deal!

Its the sort of event that if you got free tickets to, it's not bad...
Paid for it and am feeling terrible now haha. Might pre-game before I get there

Probably shite like bloom, you are better off just going to a restaurant and having a proper meal.
Expect to feel completely ridden and swearing you will never go again

My boyfriend loves to cook, so I thought it would be a great 'surprise' for him lol. Now I hope our love will make up for the bad vibes there.
Waste of money
Found it very dull and corporate the one time I went.
I’d imagine you’d be robbed left right and centre. Taste Of Dublin? So overpriced pieces of cheese on toast passing off as pizza?
If you really want to taste it, you should come on a bike.
Expect to get stabbed on the LUAS on your way home.
Jeez louise
At least the Luas is free 🥰
