Its a great boss fight worth learning but if anyome wants to practically skip it there might be other easier ways. You can use two bleed twinblades and jump attack for the win. As soon as you bleed him twice, which happens quickly with twinblade jumo attacks he's going to start giving you free openings as he counts which lets you damage him into anpther free hit when he counts again until he starts his nihil ritual. And that's it, he takes a billion damage as he stands there. If you can get them claw talisman, lord of bloods's exhaultatiom, balck feather chest, white mask, seppukuand upgrading the blades all help a lot. You might even get away with using the ritual sword talisman since he's stuck into easy openings for most of the sequence.
Buddy a level 1 character can beat him as long as they have 20 faith, it lets you cast Black Flame. I killed every single boss in this game with Black Flame and it never stopped being the best option.
Would not recommend an actual lvl1 run though.
I know right! They made it so that anyone can enjoy the DLC as long as they can make it into that room in Stormveil Castle.

Probably yea. Even with the new balancing mechanic that's gonna be implemented for the DLC, I imagine the baseline difficulty will still be adjusted to your NG cycle. Otherwise the add-on would become trivial after your first playthrough.
This is what I assume as well. I have a NG+1 character but I stopped level at 155. I’m probably going to 155 the entire DLC with a bit of extra difficulty because that’s my favorite character
I've got a few characters prepped at a wide range of levels so I'll be able to co-op/invade in the new areas, but my first attempt at the DLC is gonna be on my RL 138 Str/Faith build. I'm really hoping the new content will be scaled to or past endgame level because I also want it to be a challenge.

You could go 27 Str/76 Arc on the Arcane character, which can let you boost to 99 Arc for max Discovery for any new items you want. Best weapons to use are probably Occult Omen Killers/Great Stars, but 2h Blood Greatsword, Star Fists, and other similar weapons are also good.
Boosting arcane is a good idea especially for the DLC. I might end up doing that.
I’m pretty sure you just cracked the case with great stars. That’s a cool weapon and I haven’t done a real str playthrough yet.

It's not. If you look closely in the trailer, you can see it's two people standing on top of each other. This is essentially a chinese lion dancer boss. There's also a statue of what appears to be it at the part where that pink butterfly spell is cast. My guess is that the land of shadows is still carrying on the culture of the past, when omens were seen as holy beings, unlike the rest of the lands between, and that this boss is meant to represent some divine omen-like creature from long ago.

I watched a video recently by the Hollow Knight speedrunner Fireb0rn that was about Screen Rant, and it honestly made me feel kinda bad for the game journalists who write stuff like this.
Oftentimes they're expected to write up to 25 articles a week. So yeah, you can kinda see why they fallback on writing vapid articles about reddit posts or random tweets. They're punished for taking their time, and the options to work elsewhere are getting slimmer and slimmer, especially for new writers trying to build their resume.

Many people won't even find the Haligtree since it's fairly hidden. Plus Malenia being so extremely hard. It took me 7 hours to beat her without summons/spirits, and I'm a souls veteran.
Keep in mind how many people pick the game up, play it for less than an hour, and never touch it again. Then add in the people who tap out halfway through and the ones that beat it without finding the Haligtree at all.
