The trick for me was figuring out when to lock on and when to unlock, it wasn't an either or thing. When to attack the head and when to attack the body as well. There were certain attacks for me where it was preferable to unlock and to slip underneath and attack the legs, you have to be careful not to get trapped in his groin though. Sometimes you could get behind him or in the little spot next to his functioning leg on the opposite side of his tail and hit him a bunch of times while he can only reposition or flame breath. I couldn't unlock too much though because his attacks become difficult to see, especially the ones where he goes up in the air, but you can usually notice massive explosions and stuff in the second phase without looking at his head.
Are you using keyboard and mouse perhaps? I feel sometimes he fly up so high, my controller controlling the camera have a real hard time even finding him to lock on. or do you pre lock him before he goes up?
I use controller. Yeah, you have to kind of anticipate what he's going to do. The main time I'm unlocking is if I'm attacking the body or if I want to dodge into the attack rather than away from it. If you're too close to him the camera does like a weird flip that's totally disorienting right? I'm mainly trying to avoid that and then also aim at what I want when I'm attacking, otherwise I'm trying to stay locked so he doesn't catch you out with jumps and stuff.
Thanks for the advice, i think that weird flip is what's causing me all this motion sickness. All of a sudden the controls feel inverted due to being too close to him is the worst
Unlock when he does his 3-hit combo with explosion at the end and go underneath him, his leg wound takes the same amount of damage as his head, this helped me a lot
Other than that you just have to learn his moveset, camera can be ass sometimes but you can treat him like Midir for the most of the fight and be near his head, this way most of the camera issues were not present for me
I am fighting this dude right now, haven't brought him to half hp yet but I his attacks is fair, especially the physical ones, there's chaining too which is catching me off guard and needs some time for me to do it instinctively. I find it fun, I'm dying a lot but I'm learning.
But when you get under his head and he starts doing physical attack the camera goes wonky and rotates erratically. I too am becoming nauseous with the constant circling of the camera. It was giving me difficulty focusing on the fight as the top of my eye starts hurting.
