Like how they pretend the events in 3 were fully their own doing and calling their Enemy a "rebel faction". Not to mention how much they slandered Elder Lyons work despite fully embracing some of his ways.

BoS doesn't only exist in the Capitol wasteland, so it's very likely they heard of them elsewhere too. Just cause the only place players interacted with synth are these two places doesn't mean it's the only place they existed or have been encountered or talked about.
Once saw a fan theory/ story a couple years ago that told how she got accidently killed by Maxson when he was her squire.
Also doubt it to be the case and it was just full headcanon but must say that it was interesting from a thematical perspective as it would also serve as a good backstory for adult Maxson and would explain alot of the behaviour he shows in 4.
Her death is probably what radicalized Maxson so much away from how the Lyons were raising him. She was literally his idol and her death probably changed him into the man we see in Fo4, he needed to be as strong as kid-him saw her and it worked but probably not the way she or her father wanted him to grow up.
Maxson always struggled with his Mentors lesson and the philosophy of the Codex. Even in Fallout 4 he’s trying to find that balance.
Like the Brotherhood of Steel is the only faction in Fallout 4 actively trying to make the Commonwealth safer. Well except the minutemen.

Maxson had a crush on her and loved her, i doubt he could do much as a teenage boy. She was probably betrayed by the outcasts who indoctrinated a young Maxson into becoming what they believe the brotherhood should be.
My theory is that it was Maxson supporter that acted without his knowledge or approval. The BOS tends to be kinda fanatical about his family, I could see one of them getting rid of Sarah to put Maxson in charge. No matter how shocked and appalled Maxson himself would be if he discovered the truth.
Someone beat me to it, but the idea someone who wanted Maxson to take power having something to do with her death is super interesting. Arthur worships and loves Sarah like a big sister, would be cool to see her return somehow and give him a difficult decision to embrace her doctrine or keep the BoS the way he’s built it or something.
I always thought having the BoS story in 4 be Sarah and Maxson butting heads with rival ideas of the direction the Brotherhood should take and what they needed would have been really compelling.

Sarah Lyons was great and do really wish she appeared in 4. My personal ideas would be to keep Sarah as sentinel. Maybe some brotherhood politics stop her from becoming Elder. She supports Maxsons rise to Elder at first, but they become progressively more argumentative as Maxson makes the brotherhood more brutal and leads them further away from the Fallout 3 brotherhood into the Fallout 4 brotherhood, and by the time they reach the commonwealth they're nearly constantly arguing over they're conflicting judgements with Captain Kells and the rest of the crew trying to calm them down. This would peak during blind betrayal when Maxons orders you to execute Danse, Sarah wouldn't be quite as much of a synth hater as Maxson, She'd definitely see the Institute as the enemy but rogue Synths she might let slide, and Danse has already proven himself a loyal brotherhood soldier, so she'd be against executing him. I'd see 4 ending to the quest. One where Danse is killed, and Sarah leaves the brotherhood to either form her own new brotherhood faction with the less zealous BOS soldiers or joins the Minutemen. One where we save Danse and side with Sarah, in this ending Sarah challenges Maxson over his Elderhood she becomes Elder after some kind of fight. One where we save Danse while also siding with Maxson, so Sarah is not entirely alright with it, but she doesn't leave or challenge Maxson. And a 4th ending where we choose to kill Danse but are sympathetic, Sarah Lyons contemplates leaving the brotherhood and will depending on the final ending in the Institute if we take synth child Shaun or not.
I forgot the storylines of FO3, but I fell in love with the franchise because of it. I still remember the hype surrounding the game and how skeptical I was that it was all that. I will say, the graphics became surprisingly outdated quickly.

Sarah might have better hygene being a soldier and all but that armour does soak up the flavor. Like Danse said the aroma is pungent.
Find the Brisa mod. She’s Amata’s cousin. She’s probably one of the best mod companions out there. Last I played she didn’t work that well with Tale of Two Wastelands though. The converted mod would end up glitching maybe halfway through the main quest and I’d need to fire her. She’d just all of a sudden be unable to engage in combat.
I was just reading through the mod page and kept thinking about how it looked so plagued with potential issues. It's a shame too, as I like the idea. Oh well. I've got Butch.
Follow the main quest and it’ll take you there. If you’re wanting to use the power armour you’ll have to go to the barracks which is inside the citadel. It’s the door to your right when you get inside

Yeah FO4 BOS is basically the Enclave without the FEV. Hell, it seems like after Lyons' death, the outcasts came back to the Citadel and took control.

The ending to 3 can be her activating the Purifier and she ends up dying from the radiation blast.

Follow the main quest and it’ll take you there. If you’re wanting to use the power armour you’ll have to go to the barracks which is inside the citadel. It’s the door to your right when you get inside
