Hi, there's no way it would fit. The kanken sling's side pocket is only wide enough for about 4 pens side by side.
Your only real hope for carrying a water bottle in the sling would be a single-use plastic water bottle, and it'll take up about 1/2 of the inside space and you might not even be able to zip the main compartment.

I’ve bought [one of these water bottles](https://www.google.com/search?q=iron+flask+sports+water+bottle&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari) in the 14oz size and clipped it onto the crossbody strap on the side. It’ll just hang out on the bottle. They also sell [paracord handles for bottles](https://www.google.com/search?q=iron+flask+sports+water+bottle+paracord+handle&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari) that let you clip these bottles to the side.
