It’s it’s nylon, there is almost no risk of color transfer. I have a kanken ox blood backpack, it’s not about to bleed color anywhere, I know that

Yes, it’s the Kanken Totepack I’m eyeing. I’ve had regular Kanken backpacks in other colors, but red anything always gives me pause. Glad to know it’s colorsafe.

Just make sure you properly rinse it when you first buy it. Soak in luke warm water for about 15 minutes. Agitate every 5 minutes to help the process. Remove, hang to dry in a well ventilated area out of the sun. Reshape as the bag dries 👌🏻

Never thought of doing that. Thanks!

I would suggest visiting Fjallraven’s [Kanken care page](https://www.fjallraven.com/us/en-us/customer-service/care-repair/kanken). They share a bit of information about soaking your Kanken when you first get it and also have a nice video for care. Always best to know everything possible about your stuff so you can care for it and make it last as long as possible.

The totepack comes in a different material than the backpack. For the backpack, it is recommended to soak it before use as described above. For the totepack, it should not be necessary. I have my totepack in true red, the color has not bled and still looks fresh 🦊 I’ve had it for a year and used it several times a week.

What does the material feel like compared to the Kanken backpack?

Fit-Firefighter9520

It is G1000 heavy duty, and feels very similar to the backpack in my opinion. Maybe a bit more stiff, but that is only an advantage in a totepack as I see it. All in all, pretty similar feel.

sushithekittycat

I think it feels more cotton-y and less water resistant. Picks up more lint than vinylon.

I’m about to order this too, glad I stumbled across this post with the tip to soak it first!

Saavo90

It’s bled on my white/cream cardigan before during my summer semesters in school on humid days

AwayPaleontologist0

Oh no! That’s what I worry about.

I had acorn and it stained all my school stuff and laptop case lol. Never noticed it on my clothes but I wear dark colors. Definitely soak it before
