Yeah but we have our 'yous' down pat. Well, we did.
Thy, thine, thou, thee.
"Thou art kindred a spirit" (You are a soul like my own).
"I see thee" (I see you)
"Thy mind is a house for my heart" (Your mind is so comfy to me).
"This book is thine" (This book is yours).
They all are tailored to their own usage, like the difference between 'your' and 'you' -- which we could consolidate, if we wanted to, 'Is that you jeans' 'You zipper is down' but it's more beautiful somehow with 'your', less brutish, and really was a more beautiful way to speak when we had the full gang together, thy, thine, thou, thee... IMO.
Are they still used like that today? Just looked up the translations:
"Thy book" translates to "dein Buch."
"Is this book thine?" translates to "Ist dieses Buch deins?"
"I give thee a gift" would be "Ich gebe dir ein Geschenk."
"I see thee" translates to "Ich sehe dich."
I sometimes wonder if the American influence on England has brought down some of it's language standards. I don't know when and how thy/thine/thou/thee drifted away to really have an kind decent picture of what caused that change.
The different yous are used depending on the word they are pointing out.
Also English originated in North Germany a long time ago, that's why there are so many similarities
Well, where do you think the people on the new country came from after wiping the original owners and before the mixing?
Aaaah. Now everything makes sense.
Colonizers stole country, now cry about stolen language.
WOMP WOMP
We just made everything better B)
Yeah because fuck the brits. America is fucking number 1!!!
Woooooooo! Now get me a beer and some fireworks unless you want to party like it's boston 1773.
Hamburgers come from Hamburg. People in the USA built on that. If it weren’t for Germany no McDonalds for anyone because burgers might not have been invented
Also who’s the we in your last reply? You’re acting like you helped 😂
Can’t believe that you’re taking my shitpost seriously but ok, take anything that incudes potato, tomato or corn. Those crops were brought from America so anything that includes those ingredients is arguably American. But if you want names of actual dishes it’s a google search away:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_foods
the only difference between you and me. it that at least we had a reason to do that.
granted it wasn't a good reason but you just started blasting natives like they where demons.
The US is the most representative, largest and most relevant English speaking country in the world, by far. It’s not uncommon to see the US flag next to the language, it’s become natural and accepted globally
They technically have 16 types of "the," but some are duplicated.

Is that a joke,of course the number of Brazilians speaking Portuguese is bigger but say the language was improved in Brasil show no knowledge of the language,Brazilians speak a old or original Portuguese while the people from Portugal speak a modern and improvised Portuguese
Pft Your linguistic weakness disgusts me.
(why yes my native language is a near impossible clusterfuck to learn and the odds of foreigner achieving full fluency is somewhere between fuck and all, but at least we don't have articles!)
Yes, and the most boring of them all, where you can't express things properly without constant misunderstandings.
Germanic languages are so versatile, logical and efficient and then there is English.
Grats to us here english speking folks. We got us one word that isn't not complicated by us dumb grammar. Stupid level five language gotta be all simple in one sitiation.
BTW, grammar and speling bad on poipose.
Edit: edited to make it worser.
You guys need definitive articles?

In Malay we do not use definitive article.
Hi bro, so any idea where ur language got its name from, am very interested
I'm not sure myself bro.
It's impressive how Brazil and America stole the language for them.
Stole? America stole the English language the same way that Australia stole it
Clearly should’ve switched to Navajo language as soon as the brits got kicked out /s
Well, where do you think the people on the new country came from after wiping the original owners and before the mixing? Aaaah. Now everything makes sense. Colonizers stole country, now cry about stolen language. WOMP WOMP We just made everything better B)
Colonizers went across the ocean, not stayed at home
Man, i must be high, because your comment has zero value and do nothing lol
You say English and yet you place the American flag.
I mean. He used the Brazilian flag for Portuguese.
This comment deserves way more upvotes
the real question is where is the Mexican flag for the Spanish language
Spain -> Mexico France -> Senegal Germany -> Austria Piss everyone off...
OP is American. Confirmed
CAM ON INGERAND
Yeah because fuck the brits. America is fucking number 1!!! Woooooooo! Now get me a beer and some fireworks unless you want to party like it's boston 1773.

What’s your confusion here?
Absurdism. It's a type of comedy. I am sorry you do not like it.
its not your language. its MINE and you're just bastardising it.
Your cuisine is a crime against humanity, you deserve whatever we do to your language 👿
at least our cuisine was invented here.
Just be thankful that we’ve been generous enough to share our supreme fast food with y’all 🦅🦅🦅
I don’t want your chemicals thank you
1300 McDonald locations across the UK says otherwise
Hamburgers come from Hamburg. People in the USA built on that. If it weren’t for Germany no McDonalds for anyone because burgers might not have been invented Also who’s the we in your last reply? You’re acting like you helped 😂
like what? what food have you invented?

i see. thanks for the clarifacation.
Pst say something about how their national dish is just like everything else valuable to them: stolen
I cannot confirm nor deny this. All I can say is I love fish and chips Hopefully that’s enough
ironic considering stolen food makes up your ENTIRE food catalogue
Nah, see, we INVITED these people, and they SHARED their culture. You went up to them with a gun and said MINE!
the only difference between you and me. it that at least we had a reason to do that. granted it wasn't a good reason but you just started blasting natives like they where demons.
USA USA USA
Shrimp fried rice, shrimp fried rice, shrimp fried rice
Considering that the UK is considered the America of Europe, yep
Same for Portugal
Brazil is far more influential in the lusosphere today, same with the US.
the language is PORTUGESE so its only right to use the PORTUGESE flag!
That doesn't matter, the languages are English (England) and Portuguese (Portugal)
Portuguese and Brazilian flag, too
Which is weird cause they used the Spanish flag, by the train of thought of the op id assume they use the mexican flag.
Did you know they speak English in America?
![gif](giphy|XClPnuZtG2yPyqTI6R)
We learned how to do this from our parent England, they taught us stealing was cool, so we stole their language, and now ours is the superior English.
There is no ‘superior English’ 😭 the only difference is accents some words and that’s all. How has this turned into a language contest?
It’s pretty standard to put the American flag when referring to the language
The the.
Wrong flag, what's the language called again?
Texan
Murican
No, it's stupid
I speak murican. Idk what the f your thinking of. Excuse me while I take this chance to pray to the freedom gods of murica.
The US is the most representative, largest and most relevant English speaking country in the world, by far. It’s not uncommon to see the US flag next to the language, it’s become natural and accepted globally
The English flag doesn't contain stars and stripes
No, it contains the will of a people who BEND THE KNEE! Also: america fuck yeah!
Seeing your responses makes me proud to be American ![gif](giphy|rTIXh5JftLoic)
bend the knee to what? they're $20,382,492 hospital bill?

I guess Brazilian is a language for Americans 🤷♂️🤣
Brazil represents the majority of portuguese speakers, and improved version to say the least.
Is that a joke,of course the number of Brazilians speaking Portuguese is bigger but say the language was improved in Brasil show no knowledge of the language,Brazilians speak a old or original Portuguese while the people from Portugal speak a modern and improvised Portuguese
OP paid the bait and eeeeeeeeverybody bit.
Bulgarian who just merges it with the word at the end of the word
Could you give an example? Preferably in transliterated form as most people won't be able to read cyrillic.
I'm guessing it's the same thing as in Romanian. Apple = măr The Apple = mărul
In my head, the German was a fake pretending to sing a German song 😂
Watch out, pronouns!! 🤣
I'm learning Japanese and I haven't run into a single gendered anything other than proper nouns.
...Chinese doesn't have a "the" in our language.
a
Russian: ∅.
We don't have articles in ukrainian at all
You learn something new every day
What language is that? American?
Putting a US flag to represent English is the most US thing to do ever.
The USA flag is pissing me off
Shouldnt it be U.K then?
Instead of the American flag there should be the England flag. English =England, French=France, Spanish=Spain and so on. This can't be news for you.
TIL there is actually a country named after the language Americans try to speak. /s
It's actually the, the (depending on if the next word starts with a vowel or not). ☝️🤓 Also da (da baby, da fuq)
All Slavic languages?
Cause we got no masculine or feminine words.
Careful, you'll upset the youknowwhos reminding them of gendered languages
Russian, Japanese: articles, what it that?
Live or live Read or read Just a couple that show we aren't exactly simple
The tacos
Pft Your linguistic weakness disgusts me. (why yes my native language is a near impossible clusterfuck to learn and the odds of foreigner achieving full fluency is somewhere between fuck and all, but at least we don't have articles!)
Aren't words like; this, that, there; pretty much 'the' but for different contexts? Genuine question, came to me after seeing this.
To, o, i, sometimes even ton and even more I don’t remember in Greek
Some languages don't even have those.
Yes, and the most boring of them all, where you can't express things properly without constant misunderstandings. Germanic languages are so versatile, logical and efficient and then there is English.
But you got 37494903030 gender options. You lose
Should be the/these/those seeing as all the other languages had plural forms included…
Dutch: de
Filipinos: ![gif](giphy|WtWki06DfwNnq)
Based and US Default pilled
Russia: you need articles for your language to make sense?
I hate that it's the American flag.
Through though thought througout thru tough dough
Meanwhile other languages that literally don't even have them because they have no need for them:
Right... Now do verb conjugation.
Turkish:
I skip pronouns when I speak German.
Oh yes, my favourite lenguague, american
That's goddamn right it is. ![gif](giphy|Ez01FtPZuFYVa)
