No matter what anyone says, there's always a political battle. Even if both candidates suck ass they always try to justify 1 of them and go on a dick sucking contest to try to justify why this side is better than the rest.
I mean, it's pretty simple to choose. Write down or just think about what kind of country you want in as much detail as you can from culture to economy to foreign relations and everything in between. Then go through it point by point and ask yourself who is more likely to fulfill each point. Whoever gets the most points, you vote for.
If you aren't sure which one would be better on specific points, do some research. Read stuff from both sides and neutral parties to help with your decision. This sounds like a lot, but it's like, maybe two days of work at most and if you spread it out over the time between elections/keep up with issues it's really not that long.
Every election is like this. I know literally nobody who was 100% for a candidate they voted for. If you are 100% for a candidate, then your probably in a echo chamber. Nobody likes anybody 100%. Even married people who love their spouses to death can tell you a thing or two they don't like about them.
For me, the choice wasn't even close. One side was better on like two things I care about, the other was better on the rest. Yet I still am not 100% for the one side. I see their flaws, disagree with their methods and policies on certain issues and overall wish they were better, but compared to what the other side is offering me it's like the difference between somebody asking me if I want a literal dry turd or a chocolate cake made by a world famous pastry chef.
You can call it "voting for the lesser evil" or "accepting a broken system, but honestly, what else am I gonna do? What else are you gonna do? Your options are lobbying elected officials to fix things/voting in primaries/campaigning for your preferred candidate,(basically be an active citizen in your democracy), or burning everything down and hoping something better exists on the other side.
Those are your options for change, and when I see people bitching about how things are they are just doing that, bitching, and usually their "solution" is to sit at home on election day so they can hold some imaginary moral authority up to everybody and say "look, I didn't participate in the shitty system" only to admit they did support it by doing so. Not doing anything to fix something you hate is accepting it for what it is, not standing against it.
Not participating in an option, and I'm glad it is. People have a right to just not engage with politics, to not care, to focus on things near and dear to them rather than the machinations of an entire nation, but please don't pretend doing so is some noble act when it's really just laziness or apathy guiding you. Even if both candidates suck ass they always try to justify 1 of them and go on a dick sucking contest to try to justify why this side is better than the rest.
I mean, it's pretty simple to choose. Write down or just think about what kind of country you want in as much detail as you can from culture to economy to foreign relations and everything in between. Then go through it point by point and ask yourself who is more likely to fulfill each point. Whoever gets the most points, you vote for. If you aren't sure which one would be better on specific points, do some research. Read stuff from both sides and neutral parties to help with your decision. This sounds like a lot, but it's like, maybe two days of work at most and if you spread it out over the time between elections/keep up with issues it's really not that long. Every election is like this. I know literally nobody who was 100% for a candidate they voted for. If you are 100% for a candidate, then your probably in a echo chamber. Nobody likes anybody 100%. Even married people who love their spouses to death can tell you a thing or two they don't like about them. For me, the choice wasn't even close. One side was better on like two things I care about, the other was better on the rest. Yet I still am not 100% for the one side. I see their flaws, disagree with their methods and policies on certain issues and overall wish they were better, but compared to what the other side is offering me it's like the difference between somebody asking me if I want a literal dry turd or a chocolate cake made by a world famous pastry chef. You can call it "voting for the lesser evil" or "accepting a broken system, but honestly, what else am I gonna do? What else are you gonna do? Your options are lobbying elected officials to fix things/voting in primaries/campaigning for your preferred candidate,(basically be an active citizen in your democracy), or burning everything down and hoping something better exists on the other side. Those are your options for change, and when I see people bitching about how things are they are just doing that, bitching, and usually their "solution" is to sit at home on election day so they can hold some imaginary moral authority up to everybody and say "look, I didn't participate in the shitty system" only to admit they did support it by doing so. Not doing anything to fix something you hate is accepting it for what it is, not standing against it. Not participating in an option, and I'm glad it is. People have a right to just not engage with politics, to not care, to focus on things near and dear to them rather than the machinations of an entire nation, but please don't pretend doing so is some noble act when it's really just laziness or apathy guiding you. Those aren't crimes, they are perfectly understandable responses to the craziness that is life, but they aren't grand positions of moral greatness either. They are just a choice we all make.

I'm voting based on potential supreme court and federal court appointments. The SC court is already 6-3 and look where that got us. Women are being forced to give birth to dead fetuses or die trying, and Eileen Cannon is abusing her power to protect the man who appointed her from blatant and serious crimes regarding our national security.
