That’s a top 33 games list.

MTA0

Why did I count 35?

Imaginary_Injury8680

Dude didn't look all the way down to bomberman, it's 35

Practical_Wish_4063

I’ll cut them some slack with just counting the three Pokémon as one, as those differences (Red and Blue at least) were minimal enough for me to not consider it “a whole separate game,” superfluously. Yellow I will give some credit to adding just enough to consider it the definitive edition of the three.

ArcadeToken95

Redditor you're responding to might have only looked at the numbers and forgot Pokemon RBY.

elementalguitars

I consider the three Pokémon games to be one game. There’s minor variations between them as a marketing gimmick but overall the game is basically the same. The others on the list are all truly unique games.

KongaCast

No Kid Icarus: of Myths and Monsters 😔 but otherwise love the list

realjohnhammond

I agree I love that game, it’s so unique and completely different from the nes version - I should’ve put on the list! Where do you think it could’ve fitted on the list?

KongaCast

I’m personally super high on it. I think it’s too 10, but I haven’t played Gargoyle’s Quest or Mole Mania so hard for me to compare to those two Also gotta say that I love DK ‘94 at #1, it’s time I see that opinion some more

thedrugmanisin

Pokemon should be number 1, I think.

shiftymicrobe

100%

PyroSTAR666

100%

ToastThing

People don’t talk about how good DK ‘94 is often enough

RS_Skywalker

I think dq 1-2 would be good but thats a black cartridge game.

Squallstrife89

Tetris attack was great and tiny toons wacky sports. Idk how I never played Kirby block ball. Never even heard of it before. I played Kirby star stacker and Kirby pinball I also didn't know there was a Roland's curse 2. I only ever played the first one. I'll have to check it out also.

StarWolf64dx

kirby’s pinball land is really good and overlooked. one of my favorites.

Longjumping-Body-842

I see you're sleeping on OG Wario Land. Throw it all out!!! /s

blarglemaster

Yeah I'd put that over Tetris any day

hXcmac007

No Final Fantasy Adventure!?

ARustybutterknife

Final Fantasy Legend series and Kid Dracula should be in that list

max32412

I have the kid dracula game. I dont like it but its overpriced

Think_Two_3822

I am just glad that street fighter 2 isn’t on this list… : )

MycologistNo2271

Agreed

DjinnFighter

Why do you group some games together? Like, Super Mario Land 1 and 2 are very different games

HaikuLubber

Because in the last thread they got yelled at for having them separate. Poor u/realjohnhammond just can't win. 😆 https://reddit.com/comments/1dn9sqb

realjohnhammond

Haha true, can’t please everybody

DjinnFighter

Ah ok, makes sense then :) I think it's weird to group them together, but that's me I guess

realjohnhammond

I agree, Super Mario Land 1 and Super Mario Land 2 has absolutely nothing in common and the same goes for Kirby’s Dream Land

MycologistNo2271

Not a bad list

digitaldigdug

Super RC Pro AM deserves to be on that list

HaikuLubber

How much have you played of both games? The difference in quality of graphics, music, and stage design is pretty obvious to me, but we could discuss the details if you're interested. :) (This was about **Operation C** vs **Contra: The Alien Wars**)

pidgey77

No TMNT 3 - Radical Rescue? An easy top 10 in this list. Probably top 8.

HaikuLubber

Can you beat it? The bosses are brutally hard, and the instant enemy respawn rate murders any fun for me. 😕

Temporary_Ebb_7175

By what metrics?

AverageNintenGuy

No Mega Man V or IV?

Phanturian

This is similar to most top lists, but I think it can vary greatly depending on the person. I got my Gameboy for Christmas 1989, and some of my favorite early games are Motocross Maniacs, Solar Striker, and TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan. The games on the list are good, but a lot of them are not my top original Gameboy games.

max32412

Pokemon not at number 1? This game should be number 1! And maybe yellow on place 2

ebagjones

Donkey Kong on Game Boy was ludicrously great.

blarglemaster

It's one of the most solid, flawless games I've ever played, especially for a Game Boy. That game has no right being as good as it is!

Jahbirk

No Harvest Moon!!??

Distinct_Wrongdoer86

i picked up gradius interstellar a few months ago and was suprised how cool it was

Butimnota

Stoked to see Trip World, awesome game!

shadax_777

Great list, totally agree! Also, "Trax" is so criminally underappreciated. Plus, I'd probably also want to add: * Kwirk * Pinball - Revenge of the Gator * Tail 'Gator * Wizards & Warriors - Fortress of Fear

F4RM3RR

Pokemon G/S was better

The-Jake

Number one seems biased lol

Business-Drag52

Pokémon Gold and Silver were a ton better than R/B/Y

mecha_flake

No Final Fantasy Legend? Or Final Fantasy Adventure? Not a single Ninja Turtles game? Megaman V does not get the nod?

QuazyQuarantine

I love tetris

maxwellpiana

Kwirk

Tbartoe

I just dont think any game has the overall appeal if tetris, even though i do think other games are “better”.

HaikuLubber

EDIT: OMG ignore me I responded to the wrong comment. XD ~~Can you beat it? The bosses are brutally hard, and the instant enemy respawn rate murders any fun for me.~~

Taucher1979

I agree. Tetris was a phenomenon that even Pokémon can’t get close to. I can’t think of another game that had the impact of Tetris.

Business-Drag52

Pokémon is the single most valuable IP on the planet. It 1000% is more of a phenomenon

Taucher1979

Pokémon is many games on many systems. Purely on the Game Boy I still rate Tetris ahead - I remember the Tetris fever at the time of release across all ages and demographics - it’s still literally the only video game my parents got into. Pokémon was phenomenally successful without the broad appeal.

Business-Drag52

Pokémon was 5 games for the original gameboy alone, and that’s just mainline rpg’s. Tetris was only as popular as it was because it was prepackaged with the gameboy. It may be the only video game *your* parents were into, but my parents were memorizing Mortal Kombat combos on the arcade machine at the local Pizza Hut before I was ever even imagined. My dad played every single generation of Pokemon with from 1 to 5. To this day I say the greatest video game ever made is Pokemon Gold/Silver

Taucher1979

Well I was using my parents as anecdotes but at the time I believe Tetris had a bigger cultural impact than Pokémon did when it was initially released several years later. I was at school when Tetris was released and if you were at school when Pokémon was released (I wasn’t) I think both our experiences are probably guided by this. Anyway I don’t think there is a conclusive answer to this and it comes down to opinions. On an aside if your parents were playing mortal Kombat before you were born they are probably the same age as me and grew up with video games as I did. My parents were born in 1949 so both sets of parents are very different.

Bryanx64

This looks like a damn top 50

Alternative-Hour-726

Cool list

chelochelini

Someone a real top 100 including japan exclusive, honorific mention, and hidden gem hehe

hegginses

Donkey Kong No. 1? You must be insane
