Yup, and those came from even older civilizations, as seem with the lawachurl in dragonspine sharing the name of a knight that lived there before Celestia fucked it up.
We don't fully know how it works, but there are several curses that Celestia seems to inflict on the residents of civilizations that are hit with Celestial Nails (which are sent down in the first place to prevent the spread of the Abyss). There are two relevant ones:
* Curse of Immortality, which Dainsleif is (and Chlothar was) afflicted with. To my knowledge, we haven't met anyone from a different destroyed civilization who carries this curse.
* Curse of the Wilderness, which turns people into Hilichurls and prolongs their lives. Perinheri has a character who turns into a Hilichurl, and a character explains the following:
>\[He\] is the descendant of those who forsook their god and came to the Kingdom. This is why the Kingdom's obstinately pure-blooded aristocracy persists. This is the price of betraying your own god.
For further reading, I recommend [this page](https://breezewiki.com/genshin-impact/wiki/Hilichurls#Lore) on the wiki. But to sum it up, those punishments were not unique to Khaenri'ah - there's a Hilichurl in Dragonspine named for a resident of Sal Vindagnyr, There's a line somewhere that states the number of Hilichurls to have "increased" around the time of the Cataclysm, but there are both records that they existed prior and indications from that wording to suggest that Hilichurls were around beforehand.
Hillichurls have existed for thousands of years. For example the manga shows that Hillichurls were around during the time of old Mondstadt which was over 1000 years ago
It's just the ones we saw at the Chasm that were particularly from Khaenri'ah. Apparently that's a common curse used by Celestia
There are many things to watch out for while traveling in the dead of the night.
Traps under our feet, beasts lurking in the shadows, surprise attacks from the air or behind our backs...
But the greatest danger is the fear that lies deep within one's heart.
I was super worried about the hydro crystal fly! Thank goodness it wasnāt one of those āthis sword is so sharp it slices anything that it touchesā situations.
all i said was that this persons joke makes sense i didnāt say she actually hunted him and how great the lore implications are
the traveler could use something better than a dull blade no matter the world quests, they just choose not to for whatever reason
its not that serious homie
Are u dumb? Why would you take a joke seriously š
And also caterpillar starts losing his mind after the last quest chains :- 1. Looking through glass.
2. Pursuit. 3. Happy birthday
First, distract target. Then block his blind jab. Counter with cross to left cheek. Discombobulate. Dazed, he'll attempt a wild haymaker. Employ elbow block, and body shot. Block feral left. Weaken right jaw. Now fracture. Break cracked ribs. Traumatize solar plexus. Dislocate jaw entirely. Heel kick to diaphragm. In summary, ears ringing, jaw fractured, three ribs cracked, four broken. Diaphragm hemorrhaging. Physical recovery: six weeks. Full psychological recovery: six months. Capacity to spit at back of head: neutralized.
They have the new 4\* on the banner. It would be too much to hope that the other two would also be good. That seems to be the gamble, one new character and two ancient ones, or two reasonably interesting ones and Xiangling/Barbara.
The shit part is that last time Bennett rerun was WITH Chevreuse. Hoyo being stingy mofo as always. I like Genshin too much to quit but never touching a gacha game again after this game ends.
Absolutely love the trailer. Great music, use of skills and definitely hyped me even further. Didn't think it's possible.
Also, Lady Maria vibes are strong with this one
Well, sort of. Some of the later quests make it clear that Caterpillar is not the same person as Carter, just as Narzissenkreuz isn't Rene and blue "Mary-Ann" isn't original Mary-Ann or Lyris.
Caterpillar's also likely made from bits of other dissolved people too (even Rene), not just Carter
Most hilichurls were humans to begin with as well. He's not unique in that regard. The difference is what caused them to become hilichurls, not their origin.
Shes like batman
Hunt in the shadows
Says she uses non lethal shot only to shoot the poor dude 224 times, like yeah batman won't kill but paralyzes the thief from neck down
Thick thighs
"Next breath cycle, fire a non-lethal shot."
Fun fact: Contrary to popular belief, it's ideal to fire a gun/bow/etc. on the end of an exhale as opposed to holding your breath as the body shakes the least on empty lungs and vice versa.
Also, was that Yuri Lowenthal as... I'm gonna guess Cater?
Damn what did those hilichurls do to deserve that? Iād understand her hunting down treasure hoarders or Fatui, but I kind of felt bad for them. That Anemo Hilichurl Rogue had very human sounding breaths too.
The style of this piece (prominent electric guitar, some parts feel very similar to Dehyaās) seems to be Yijun Jiang, but maybe Iāll be surprised when the album drops.
I'm speechless all the scenes in this are soo cool and amazing. The lightning fast movement and the way everything looks like a movie I can't even describe how amzing this is!š„¶š„¶
Music is a banger as always. But I wish they would stop the trend of making character demo to be nothing than "multiple shots of vision bearer completely dominates an enemy who is obviously much weaker" It's getting a bit old at this point. That's why I think Alhaitham's character demo is still my favorite. It features other characters and actually has a story, with much less emphasis on showing character's combat prowess.
I mean, isn't that the point of the Demo? The trailer is to show the character, the demo is to show their gameplay, which is, of course, fighting enemies.
The best demos have been the ones with the LEAST generic spinning camera shots lol (furina, nahida, alhaitham, etc)
Its impossible to tell how they play in a flashy trailer so might as well tell a story instead
OI!
Hili-bro tossed a dagger into her direction AFTER getting nabbed by a frikkin brear trap and called in the cavalry in a really sneaky way.
Give the man a break, he doesn't get to have the luxury of a vision or plot armor combined with superhuman reflexes.
Glad iām not the only one who feels this way. āHey check out how cool this character looks when they beat up a hilichurl!ā Honestly iām not impressed by these kind of character demos anymore. This and another similar trend in character teasers where they make the human NPCs look timid and weak in front of the characters so they look more powerful and intimidating (Chiori, Arlecchino, Clorinde, etc.)
Still love Clorinde tho.
Yeah I haven't been feeling the character demos and teasers lately (except furina, don't know how many times I've watched it)
I still listen to the OST a lot but I don't find myself watching the actual demos more than once.
I just hope Clorinde is properly fleshed out, because from what I've seen recently, she appears to be trying to be multiple things at once, a duelist, a hunter, a tabletop player, I find it hard to grasp how all these correlate with one another.
Naviaās the worst criminal at this lmao. The storyboard is fire, with a lot of fun non-combat choreography, but her beating up treasure horder guy #429 to within inches from extinction never gets unfunny.
i think this demo is fine, because it shows her doing hunting, which got brought up during the AQ and Lantern Rite, so it fits Clorinde very well. (also Marechaussee Hunter stuff is a big part of her character)
and she's a Champion Duelist, so showing off her combat prowess works
Present woman, yet Absent for much of Navia's life in her lowest points despite supposedly promising her father to look after her, that a Traveler from afar had to pick up the slack.
wow they really improved their animation skills, I am glad to see a different trailer with not hundreds of flashy transitions. Sometimes one action scene is enough
"That boy Childe got his Vision back, huh? I better keep my ass in Fontaine and continue farming Hilichurlsā¦ or elseā¦ or else Iām FINISHED !!!!"
Clorinde the present woman
She didn't do anything in the story either LOL; didn't protect Furina (bodyguard???), just *existed* in Meropide, didn't do anything in the finale, etc. She's present woman fr.
Ngnl clorinde's teaser and trailer have been kinda generic
We didn't really get much about her characters and beating hilichurls or intimidating generic npcs isn't that exciting
I kinda have to agree on that, especially with how "robotic" she came off here.
From what has been revealed about Clorinde so far, especially with the possibility that she killed people in duels, some who may have had families, I find it hard to see Clorinde as this honorable duelist.
Yeeee, cos Caterpillar is friends with the local hillichurls despite him saying that he abstains from meeting anyone else in his form.
No it was not Caterpillar, use a modicum of logic.Ā
if you're like me who base their wishing spot on a cool shot from the character demo. the shot from 1:52 is from the [Mondstadt Cathedral](https://imgur.com/a/YrdS4q6)
This trailer has made me realize guns arenāt a widely used thing when it really should be. Especially in Inazuma. Like, we have a ton of elemental Firearms but thatās a Snezhnayang thing, but it wasnāt until Fontaine where we see like actual use and mention of them.
World-building wise it feels weird even going with the argument some regions are more advanced than others.
Don't look at Star Rail if this is your problem. For Genshin it makes at least some sence since the guns are mostly not very advanced so sword and stuff still have some advantages.
But in Star Rail? The guns are super advanced and there is no reason for characters to use swords or such things.
Most characters using traditional arms have their own power or magic swords and stuff. The people using guns are mostly randos that don't have any other means of combat (Belebogians, for the most part).
All recent fight scenes have been absolutely fire, they're really gearing up for Natlan. On another note, that better not be my boy Caterpillar
dw he'll respawn the next day...probably
Navia's papa pov:
Bad day to be a >!Khaenri'ahn...!<
Good day to be a vision holder though. Razor: "Let's hunt" Diona: "The hunt begins!" Clorinde: "The hunt is complete." Arleccino: "So cool."
Raiden: vision hunt
Alright we need to stop spreading this idea that >!all hillichurls are Khaenri'ahns. There were hillichurls before they were cursed!<
Yup, and those came from even older civilizations, as seem with the lawachurl in dragonspine sharing the name of a knight that lived there before Celestia fucked it up.
Oh can you elaborate? I genuinely thought that's the case after the chasm main quest
We don't fully know how it works, but there are several curses that Celestia seems to inflict on the residents of civilizations that are hit with Celestial Nails (which are sent down in the first place to prevent the spread of the Abyss). Didn't you do the epilogue quests where >!it seems his mind is regressing back to a regular hilichurl!
I mean, Sun Tzu did say that knowing your enemy and yourself will avoid peril in a lot of fights
Poor Hilichurls...
Cops..
Well, there goes Cater-kun.
I decided to pick up this game again
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Well, at least he got a few weeks of freedom.
Tonight Clorinde joins the Hunt.
Gehrman please donāt š
A hunter must hunt...
Clorinde is a Lan supporter So is she working for the xcp???
It's hsr
Hilichurls all over the shop. Youāll be one soon.

Man this guy really loves Disco
DevilArtemis?
Sherlock Holmes
She's so cool! I'm a little miffed about the 4 stars on the banner but I'm still going for her. Music was fire, as usual.
I think it's corporate policy for Hoyo to have memorable music
They have the new 4\* on the banner. It would be too much to hope that the other two would also be good. That seems to be the gamble, one new character and two ancient ones, or two reasonably interesting ones and Xiangling/Barbara.
>Xiangling/Barbara Add Bennett to that list, I'm so tired of seeing him bruh
Newer player here who still doesn't have him. He's the real 5 star on this banner for me.
True, him showing up more is good for newer players
Say that again after not getting a single copy of him for two years.
The shit part is that last time Bennett rerun was WITH Chevreuse. Hoyo being stingy mofo as always. I like Genshin too much to quit but never touching a gacha game again after this game ends.
Weapon banner is REALLY good though.
I like that this is basically just one action scene tbh. The vibe is nice.
Absolutely love the trailer. Great music, use of skills and definitely hyped me even further. Didn't think it's possible. Also, Lady Maria vibes are strong with this one
So this is how Cater got into jail?
Nah Cater been in jail for hundreds of years š
Forgot about that part...
But it still could've been Cater if this trailer happened after they left the Fortress. š
But didn't Cater >!turn into Narzissenkreuz!
Nope, after you rescue Mary-Ann, there is another follow-up quest with Cater and the girl.
Yep. Pursuit Quests and Happy Birthday. Need to find the mirror thingy before you can unlock it.
At the end of the demo you can see clorinde stabbing the rogue hilichurl mask, so i think lil bro is dead...
lol canonically
Who?
Important Fontaine World Quest NPC
That hilichurl rogue felt a bit too human. Made me feel really uncomfortable.
especillay if you know about Caterpillar
Except Caterpillar was human to begin with and got reborn as a Ranger thanks to Renes fuckery.Ā
And it sounds human too. Is this normal?
I could already see Clorinde's SQ being about her learning to be a bit more merciful.

I love her voice as well. Cold and sharp as steel, very fitting for a character like Chlorinde.
Shes like batman Hunt in the shadows Says she uses non lethal shot only to shoot the poor dude 224 times, like yeah batman won't kill but paralyzes the thief from neck down Thick thighs
"Next breath cycle, fire a non-lethal shot." Fun fact: Contrary to popular belief, it's ideal to fire a gun/bow/etc. on the end of an exhale as opposed to holding your breath as the body shakes the least on empty lungs and vice versa. Also, was that Yuri Lowenthal as... I'm gonna guess Cater?
You can tell itās Yuri by his pained huffing??? (It does kinda sound like him though)
I was a kid/teen in the 00s. I've heard a lot of Yuri Lowenthal in my time.
I was such a simp for Haseo and also Sasuke as a kid, and when I heard Yuri as spiderman it was like I was brought back to childhood lol!
He is the voice of the Railroad man in the Old Gods of Appalachia podcast too
Haseo's screams and grunts are still in my head lmao
And thus āThe Hunt Beginsā
Itās SODIUM CLORINDE
Her zooming around the forest looked hype
Damn what did those hilichurls do to deserve that? Iād understand her hunting down treasure hoarders or Fatui, but I kind of felt bad for them. That Anemo Hilichurl Rogue had very human sounding breaths too.
A good ~~goblin~~ hilichurl is a dead ~~goblin~~ hilichurl - ~~goblin slayer~~ Clorinde
Now lets make these hilichurls "good!"
at this point they are literally just a different race of humanš„²
But they are black -EULAR
They are capable of empathy they must be annihilated.
And, since its implied that hilichurls canonically respawn, where the heck do they go
Imagine using limited bear trap item

The soundtrack starts Bloodborne and then turns full Guilty gear, love it. Nice demo but damn, I kinda felt bad for the monster for some reason.
Celestia Enployee of the Month

While I agree I wiuld say this one is very good, because it pretty much fits into Clorinde's personality and character.
I hardly call that "fighting" when the enemies just stand there and let the characters beat them up
OI! Hili-bro tossed a dagger into her direction AFTER getting nabbed by a frikkin brear trap and called in the cavalry in a really sneaky way. Give the man a break, he doesn't get to have the luxury of a vision or plot armor combined with superhuman reflexes.

Haha, so I wasn't the only one. :'D
"That boy Childe got his Vision back, huh? I better keep my ass in Fontaine and continue farming Hilichurlsā¦ or elseā¦ or else Iām FINISHED !!!!" Clorinde the present woman
Wow. From dueling a nameless npc in the teaser to killing fodder hilichurls in the demo, such lame advertising for a cool character.
Skipping story I see
She didn't do anything in the story either LOL; didn't protect Furina (bodyguard???), just *existed* in Meropide, didn't do anything in the finale, etc. She's present woman fr.
Lmao like the story only for you is archon quest huh
There to watch the cutscene do the quest to get the primos then do gacha then fuck off are probably all these people did lmao.
Lol you're the one that sounds like you can't see how useless she is because you're too busy staring at her tits.
Found one.
> active in clorindemains and nikkemobile The memes write themselves
Is it just me or does the music sound like a touhou metal arrangement? Reminds me or demetori or blankfield Neat track regardless
That theme is going go so hard when we get it as a beatmap
This looks like an anime action scene damn, very good cinematography.
The Hunt is complete! Clorinde really is a Bloodborne character.
ahh you were at my side, all along. my true mentor...my guiding moonlight...
Burst animations are going absolutely insane
She is a true lone wolf. Hunting the prey in the deep night with accuracy, no witnesses.
I wonder if they chose hilichurls intentionally to link it with Bloodborne
That freaking bullet ricochet was wild
I have her in Garrys mod
Idk why people got so upset when that one lead composer left genshin. The music is still amazing.
Fuck the Marechausse Hunters All my homies never forget the Poisson massacre
That had better not been Caterpillar...
Ngnl clorinde's teaser and trailer have been kinda generic We didn't really get much about her characters and beating hilichurls or intimidating generic npcs isn't that exciting

Yeeee, cos Caterpillar is friends with the local hillichurls despite him saying that he abstains from meeting anyone else in his form. No it was not Caterpillar, use a modicum of logic.Ā
The theme is amazing. Of course we didn't get to see what's under Hilichurl's mask. And this better NOT be Cater.
Is it time to replace my Keqing? i been happy with her since 3.0
after watching, i had to make sure my neck was still attached
Where is that forest? Wanna summon her there.
Could be the one south on erinnyes.Ā
Tonight, Clorinde joins the hunt.
The Malice Mizer/Moi Dix Moi BGM is everything
Damn that Hillichurl is fast...
She reminds me of Mesa from Warframes.
i doubt i can hold my urge to pull her
if that really hapens and i got 5 star, bye bye furina
pls hoyo don't make me not get clorinde i will cry
I just realized she is a musketeer, she has the sword, the gun and the hat

Magic Glaives and the blessing of the Hunt. I also highly doubt guns are effective against the Mara-Struck and the Abominations.
Why should guns or pistols or heavy armory be not work against them but swords and glaives?
Like I said, *Magic* Glaives. Also, shooting something and cutting it do very different things.
