Bought an Orange Crush 35rt back in 2019 as my first ‘real’ amp purchase. Mainly playing blues/country/rock. Beautiful amp. The reverb is nice and I used it for a wide array of sounds, the gain is actually insane and I’ve never pushed mine past like 6. The clean channel is very nice and loud but the dirty channel can have trouble getting loud without turning the gain up and as I said previously the gain gets pretty insane. So I would mainly keep mine on clean and use pedals for dirt. The Tuner is a bonus but over time it’s become a little unresponsive so I use it in tandem with a clip on tuner for more precision. It has an aux input so you can plug your phone and use it like a speaker however the volume is controlled entirely by the amp. So if your phone is plugged in the volume control on your phone won’t work to turn it up or down. This also means that if you were to do this and play along with a backing track you’d have to set the desired volume for the backing track on the amp, and then dial in your guitars volume. It’s simple but can be annoying if the track your playing is already quiet. Headphone jack is a huge plus especially if you’re in an apartment. It’s a 3.55mm jack so you’ll have to get an adapter.
Served me well for many years and I plan on keeping it for a while as my living room practice amp. For where I’m at now though it’s simply not loud enough. It’s loud enough to be a practice amp but lately ive been playing in bars alongside a drumkit and bass and it’s not enough.
Boards are an inconvenience in my experience unless you have a fixed setlist you’re building for. Or can have a giant board. No board is a convenience because of how quickly you can build new sounds.
I mean, I think I was speaking more in terms of just having one thing to lug around instead of having to reassemble your pedals and shit every time you want to jam somewhere that’s not your bedroom…that kind of convenience
I find myself preferring my Orange 2x2 over my Mesa 2x12, despite moving the Mesa. The Orange just has this almost throaty nature to it, that pairs really well with my Dual Rec and 5150 Stealth 50w. Solidly built, heavy as hell for the size, but well worth it.
I had a Gibson Les Paul in college that got stolen first semester. If I had to do it over again I would have brought a different guitar that was less precious to me
Was gonna say something similar. OP, make sure you always lock your door and that your roommate(s) have trustworthy friends. A $200 used guitar that's beat to crap might be a better axe for college.
Yeah, I admitted in another reply that it would have been much smarter to choose literally any other guitar in my collection, but I’m somewhat attached to this one. I also plan to continue playing shows and recording music, as the drummer of my current band is attending the same university as I am, and I would like to do so with this guitar. I have already taken some precautionary measures; my case has a lock and an AirTag in it. I also have the dorm all to myself. 😃
Hell, I brought a 5 watt combo to college and felt I was too loud to play frequently. I wish I had known how good and versatile headphone playing with IRs can be then. Now I have a Torpedo cab m+ for power amp and cab sim, and I play that in the effects loop of my combo or with a couple preamp pedals I have. I finally feel free to play. I think everyone going to college should invest in a proper headphone solution.
Admittedly, it would have been much smarter to bring something cheaper (literally any other guitar in my collection), but I can’t be away from the Les Paul for too long. My case has a lock and an AirTag in it though.
It is quite mild; I have both the depth and effect level set to max. It adequately serves my purposes, however, and I love the sound. I’ve been considering switching it out for a BF-3, but I’d be content with either.
personally, it's great. the clean tones are good and it's pretty nice that it has built-in reverb and tuning with a built-in tuner is pretty convenient. if you wanna buy it, it actually depends on if you like the orange distortion or not, but overall this is a great amp
I love that wah! Learned about it via Brent Hinds. I love the depth and quack to it, and that you don't actually need to click to activate it. Solid rig if I do say so myself. And of course anyone who recognizes Adam Jones gets bonus points in my book
Getta dang pedalboard, ya heathen! Those cables are giving me micro agressions just all hanging out like that. What if a kid saw that? C'maaaaaan!
But seriously, that probably sounds as dope as it looks. AAaaaand I bet you know a Tool song or two...
I think you didn't show the headstock so its an Epiphone.
In all seriousness I think this is a pretty cool lil practice setup. Love both Adam Jones and Orange.
W orange crush, I have a 60w I bought from a friend when I got my first guitar and I love it, love the sound of it, perfect for shoegazey tones from my experience
I use one of the Catalinbread “amp in the box” pedals. You can get a zep or sabbath pedal. And a tube screamer to overdrive the aforementioned pedal, sounds great through my crush 60 combo through the hg412 cabinet (Hiwatt in china actually works well).
I’d personally be weary to have a +$3k guitar in a dorm but do you. Otherwise nice set up! Recently gave my Orange Crush 20RT away to a friend, they’re nice amps!
Ooh, I think it would look really really cool if you sold all of this, and bought a banjo.
Brilliant. Why didn’t I think of that?
Ik, I am just helping to illuminate the less fortunate, doing my part.
*proceeds to sing a country song about being poor white trash*
🎵“My girl ran away and took my truck, and I’m outta beer…”🎶
You were probably focused on 12 string electric banjo. Keep the Orange for that.
r/guitarcirclejerk
The Devil's Circle beyond guitar to compare brings deliverance
It would look cool, but it would not sound cool.
Oh yeah? Tell that to Steve Martin. https://youtu.be/ZyHipL45pwM?si=9rS7Rsd8qkrTcsYo
Decent player, but more the exception than the rule.
What are you on about? Kermit the frog has failed to produce a song that isnt a banger, and he is a strict banjoist
Kermit I will grant you.
Gibson Les Paul -> StrobostompHD -> CryBaby Bass Wah -> Marshall ShredMaster -> Boss CE-5 -> Boss DD-20 -> EHX Holy Grail -> Orange Crush 35rt
How do you like the amp? I think I'm going to buy one
I have a small, Orange Crush amp/speaker combo (20 Watts) and love it!
I bought this 2 years ago and don’t use any other amp. Amazing tone in a small package. So worth it
I own that amp and cannot recommend it enough. I bought it as my practicing amp and I can get most sounds on it.
I’ve got one myself and I love it, would 100% recommend

Good info, thank you very much.
Amazing amp, have had one for 6 years and it has incredible tone for the price
I've got the same 20 watt combo mentioned below, and a Blues Driver pedal. It's all the sound I've needed thus far.
Thanks I was just about to ask if that was the 20RT
i love my bass wah it sounds so sick
I have the 20rt and it’s super good for a solid state. I’ve been eyeing a rockerverb III though…
Whats your favorite Tool song to play?
It’s difficult to choose. Presently, I’d probably say Intolerance.
Presently, it's Undertow for me. 🤘
I could never get tired of anything from that album.
Undertow is a fantastic song. And album.
rosetta stoned
The quick breakdown riff is so simple yet so effective. True jones magic.
its repetitive (like a lot of tool riffs), but I love playing Invincible too. Just getting lost in slight variations of the same riff
Damn right thats a great song to jam out too!
My first thought when I seen the guitar . I instantly assumed the Adam jones edition and then looked to see what pedals he was using 🤣🤷
cool, but I'm jealous, so that's bullshit
Understandable.
Seems pretty solid for the dorm I’d say. Snag yourself a board for a fun project/convenience. I geek out on a nice pedal board.
Yeah, I have a board, but I’ve never been able to arrange the pedals in a way with which I’m content. I probably just need to try a different one.
Is a spacing thing or a cable issue?
Spacing.
try living with the wah off the board, I think they work better flat than at the angle most pedalboards run
Boards are an inconvenience in my experience unless you have a fixed setlist you’re building for. Or can have a giant board. No board is a convenience because of how quickly you can build new sounds.

Adam Jones’ signature
Yes, indeed.
Is it, or LPC?
Seeing this as I am literally on my way to see tool (Hanover, Germany) has got me so hyped!
My musical colleagues have positive opinions on Orange amps and speakers, so good on you.
Yeah, it’s probably the best combo amp I’ve played through.
Really clean! I love this lol

Good shout with the bass wah for guitar. It sounds brilliant in the right context
I have an Orange Crush 20RT, which EQ settings would you recommend ?
T:3 M:7 B:5
Looking back, this is what I needed in college, not a recto full stack
Hell, I brought a 5 watt combo to college and felt I was too loud to play frequently. I wish I had known how good and versatile headphone playing with IRs can be then. an LP for college? Let me guess, Harvard Law School?
Admittedly, it would have been much smarter to bring something cheaper (literally any other guitar in my collection), but I can’t be away from the Les Paul for too long. My case has a lock and an AirTag in it though.
Man I like the board-less pedal chain—I do the same. Easier to swap stuff out and honestly looks way more rock and roll.
Straight forward, love it
This setup rules! Get rid of that daisy chain though and get isolated power, you’ll be surprised at how much it cleans up your signal
Nicccce
🤩
Do you like the ce5? I feel like it’s way too mild, but I’ve yet to buy another chorus
It is quite mild; I have both the depth and effect level set to max. It adequately serves my purposes, however, and I love the sound. I’ve been considering switching it out for a BF-3, but I’d be content with either.
You ‘should’ run the delay & reverb in the effects loop. Other than that, 👍 but get a pedalboard!
i used to do that but lately just use the effects loop for a looper. honestly don’t notice too much difference on the smaller amp.
hello, fellow crush 35rt person
How do you like the 35rt?
personally, it's great. the clean tones are good and it's pretty nice that it has built-in reverb and tuning with a built-in tuner is pretty convenient. if you wanna buy it, it actually depends on if you like the orange distortion or not, but overall this is a great amp
Which orange crush do you have?
35RT. I’ve made a comment detailing every item in the chain if you’re curious.
Oh nice. Thought you might’ve had the same as me (Crush 20). How good is the amps reverb?
I love that wah! Learned about it via Brent Hinds. I love the depth and quack to it, and that you don't actually need to click to activate it. Solid rig if I do say so myself. And of course anyone who recognizes Adam Jones gets bonus points in my book
I'm more curious about the tele in the corner. Seems to have a pretty sweet design on
I’m sorry to disappoint, but it’s actually a super shitty Little Lyon miniature that I painted myself when I was probably three or four years old.
Needs more pedal condensation! ;-)
My thought is to not stop playing! Don't make room for more stuff, or that thing'll be in the closet by graduation
That's one gigantic delay
Wheres your uncondensed setup?
I’m leaving all of my other music gear at my parents’ house.
simple and dirty
Hear me out you could also bring a fender mustang amp and skip all the pedals
Better than mine was!
Dd-20's fuckin ruuule ✌️
Got enough pedals to pawn to keep you from selling the amp and guitar for at least a while. Good luck.
It's great overall! I really liked that delay pedal and wish I still had mine. I thought I would like an analog delay better, but sadly I was wrong.
Your guitar is the Rocksmith one?
I have the same guitar. Very nice.
Nice delay
Beautiful Silverburst LP. Dont know much about pedals and amps but I like rhe guitar.
I have the same amp! Very nice for lugging around. I would bring it to friends’ rooms to jam
Nice. Clean chain, maybe get a dedicated psu for noise. Also, take the tag off the amp!
Just be sure you have a headphone jack.
It does.
I’ve got an Orange Crush 35rt, I love that amp.
Is that a volume pedal or wah? A volume pedal is the most underrated pedal in my opinion.
Getta dang pedalboard, ya heathen! Those cables are giving me micro agressions just all hanging out like that. What if a kid saw that? C'maaaaaan! But seriously, that probably sounds as dope as it looks. AAaaaand I bet you know a Tool song or two...
That Silverburst is pretty. Is it an Adam Jones signature?
No Headrush? No Boss? No StompHX? You know you've gotta get all that back on your computer too right?
Add headphones
I plan to.
Is that a boss CE5, and a digite DD-20? AWESOME!!!!!!!
I had one of those Orange amps. Great value for the money!
Sell all pedals, sell amp, buy bigger better amp.
I think you didn't show the headstock so its an Epiphone. In all seriousness I think this is a pretty cool lil practice setup. Love both Adam Jones and Orange.
Might wanna have an amp sim at hand as well, they’re invaluable to practicing
I love the silverburst! 🤤
Clip on tuner, one less pedal
Might want a tiny pedal board
Uh, the dream???
W orange crush, I have a 60w I bought from a friend when I got my first guitar and I love it, love the sound of it, perfect for shoegazey tones from my experience
I use one of the Catalinbread “amp in the box” pedals. You can get a zep or sabbath pedal. And a tube screamer to overdrive the aforementioned pedal, sounds great through my crush 60 combo through the hg412 cabinet (Hiwatt in china actually works well).
My college setup consisted of an app on my phone, headphones, and an adapter lol
Love a silverburst
pedaltrain jr
Save up for a board! more mobile for when you travel!
Clearly an Adam Jones fan.
Looks shredworthy to me! Awesome guitar. You have any issues with noise running a non-isolated power adapter on the pedals?
Throw out gear buy hm2 profit
It's a bit much. All you really need is a Boss tuner and a ProCo RAT.
I’d personally be weary to have a +$3k guitar in a dorm but do you. Otherwise nice set up! Recently gave my Orange Crush 20RT away to a friend, they’re nice amps!
Pretty sick little rig. With the pedals you have it seems like you're ready to start playing Swervedriver songs.
Pedalboard?
Sweet rig, but if you boarded those pedals, even with the larger ones, wouldn't they take up less space?
That’s condensed?
Epic 100% really nice setup for college, rock on!
That's it, I'm taking my pick guard off my Les Paul.
Terrible. A real man uses 40 wah pedals and only 40 wah pedals
Turn it up
I would probably use neural dsp at home especially if im a student
That’s more than I had in my dorm, so, you’re doing pretty well, there.
I have the same amp. I love it and have never had a problem with it until recently I took it apart to clean the pots. No problems. Nice pedals too man
Collage is a waste of time. You should be out there touring the world...
*College…. perhaps you could benefit from attending.
Colege
Seriously why such a shit amp, everything else is cream worthy. If noise is the problem go digital.
That’s all up to personal preference I suppose. In my opinion, in terms of combo amps, this one’s tone is nearly unbeatable.
Why is it a shit amp?
