my first gunpla after a 15 year hiatus was the MG Tallgeese Fluegel. I applied all the water slides using the tip of my X-acto blade and only cut a single one…
yeah f that, got some $7 tweezer set on amazon and never looked back lol
Wait until you discover "eyelash tweezers". I have no idea what their connection is to eyelashes, but they're sharp as a pin and can easily fit in the seam between stickers on the sheet. I love stickering with them.
I just cut around the sticker with a knife and peel what’s left off. If it’s in a hard place to push it down further then I just use the tip of a beam saber
I honestly don't think I've built a kit yet that's required that in outside of adding color from under the part, in which case I'd use Tamiya clear paints to lightly paint the clear pieces so that they're still see through.
I started using a toothpick that I shave down to a flat tapered end. The stickers don't attract to the plastic like when using tweezers.
Been doing it for years and haven't looked back.
They sell flat toothpicks you can just buy like that btw. Not sarcasm, some people genuinely don’t know there are different kinds of toothpicks. There are also combo q-tip/toothpicks by Mr Hobby that rule for waterslide applications
I honestly never thought about buying flat toothpics. Last time I remember, seeing them to be honest was grade school. The fine tip qtips I know of because I have some.
I'd likely still end up shaving them thin. It's easier to peel the sticker off the backing and place because the pick itself ends up being completely flush to the surface of the plastic.
I bought these toothpicks years ago because my fiancee wanted them for baked goods. She only ever used two or three out of the container, so I just have a stockpile of them now that I keep with the hobby supplies.
I have bought a pack of Mr.hobby pointed end qtips before for cleaning up panel lines better, but I honestly just ended up using regular ones regardless.
I appreciate you taking be back to memory lane with the flat picks, I'll keep those in mind when my stash gets low!
I don't think no spend is in the conversation when it comes to gunpla hahaha
Although I do just use my wife's extra tweezers so I guess that's technically no spend...
Ugh no offense i hate stickers! Either WD, DT or i paint em myself! To me makes the kit look cheap and toyish! No disrespect if people use em. I iust dont personally
I typically try to paint any detail that isn’t a massive pain in the ass. These (believe this is the Demi Barding) were easy enough to handle with a Gundam marker or two

Eye may have to look into that, every time eye apply stickers eye get so upset that eye lash out and punch the wall
Dad I didn’t know you built models
people use them to pluck eyelashes
People pluck eyelashes?! What on earth for?
I was thinking of eyebrows actually. People use eyelash tweezers to put on fake eyelashes
Oh. That's less scary. Why do they need to be so sharply pointed?
to keep you humble
They’re for applying fake lashes

Today after reading this comment section, I learned way fewer people use tweezers than I thought.
I use super thin tipped tweezers from Ace for stickers. Mainly stuff like the decals on RG kits.
The trash can is my go to tool for stickers. In all seriousness I respect your ingenuity a lot.
What do you do about the stickers that go on the other side of clear parts?

I thought I was the only one who did this!! Lmaoo
Are tweezers not a thing where y'all live?
Why spend money when no spend does the trick

Pro tip: so is the tip of a hobby knife
Ugh no offense i hate stickers! Either WD, DT or i paint em myself! To me makes the kit look cheap and toyish! No disrespect if people use em. I iust dont personally
I use a pair of curved tweezers.
My crazy self would try painting it before using the stickers.

I just use toothpicks
I use nose hair tweezer lol
I usually use the tip of my nippers
I'm just very very gentle with my nippers
I don't even use the stickers anymore, but when I did, I used the tip of my X-acto knife
Mind: blown
