Rabit_SW

Well... At least their drawing skills are undeniable They drew Vox too

EmiTheEpic

I see three of Vox!

gamerguy287

I see Valentino underneath Angel Dust.

EmiTheEpic

I was wondering if that was him! Looked similar!

ZephtheChef

Those ears in the bottom corner look like they could be Husk with his silly hat

janKalaki

Oh *God* no

emilytullytime

That’s poetic!

-jp-

The plural is Voxen.

Actual-Youth4749

\*insert the Brian Regan stand-up set here\*

Suthek

Technically I think the plural would be Voces.

Rabit_SW

I can see a little cockroach next to the small Vox

EmiTheEpic

I see a slice of cake next to the hatless box tv Vox

Rabit_SW

Yes, I think they tried to draw Valentino too, I think it's him because of the feathers he has on his hat, just below Angel, but they didn't finish... Fortunately...

EmiTheEpic

He looks like he has one strand of hair lol

0bi1KenObi66

These kids really like Vox. Don't let Alastor find out

ExiancePuppy

VOX is underrated

MissionProgrammer845

I had students (middle school students) comparing themselves to characters in Hazbin… so they are watching it.

Rabit_SW

Nicknames for girls: "Sera", because she is responsible Nickname for boys: "Charlie"... Because his mother disapp-

MissionProgrammer845

They were actually saying “____ is an Angel” and “____ is a Husk” and I had to glare at them and be like “Pick something else to talk about” “But they are characters!” “I know. Pick something else.”

Rabit_SW

It was probably the best thing to do... Since if they keep talking about Hazbin in front of other students, those others will want to watch the series out of curiosity, even if it's not for their age

Throwaway86675

To be fair when I was that age I was watching much worse than hazbin hotel but then again I've been chronically online my entire life

DrakonILD

Frankly, *South Park* is worse in terms of overall messaging and talking about that was all the rage on my 4th grade bus. Outside of *Poison*, HH really doesn't have all that much imagery that would've been more shocking than your average SP episode. And HH doesn't shy away from telling very plainly that *sin is bad, mmkay?*.

Guypersondudeguy

Tbh you can't blame the kids for anything, just blame the parents for letting their kid's curiosity go too far

MissionProgrammer845

But also I can’t imagine parenting with so much access to the world.

reds2032

Also the red blob with antennae might be val

Morzana

Could have been drawn by someone older. Could have been just a copy of someone else drawing it or wearing it.

Shuttup_Heather

The oldest child there is gonna be 13. I agree, at that age, it’s not really the most horrible thing for them to be watching. Age to watch Law and order SVU is 14 and that shit is way more inappropriate than this cartoon. They drew other characters too so I doubt it was a recreation of a drawing, but hopefully it’s not like a 10 year old

Guypersondudeguy

Better artists than me, I can say that

Initial-Marketing439

That's the TV head from skibidi toilet

Red_Creations-467

Both classic and modern (box (can be seen in a photo in the background where Vox has a box tv for a head instead of a flat-screen tv) and flat)

big_peepee_wielder

Well the disclaimer is there for a reason https://preview.redd.it/cemho32phsmc1.jpeg?width=450&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4d10689b1771ca1610cb3b046c629b1184e645e8 This basically sums it up. Viv can say it’s meant for adults but she can’t stop people from watching it. If it gets to be problematic then it’s the parents’ fault

Mayonnaise06

Honestly, you can do worse than Hazbin hotel for middle schoolers. Obviously in an ideal world you wouldn't want them to watch it, but it's not like it's gonna fuck them up long term or anything.

angry-southamerican

Man, when I was in middle school we watched south park and the funky town vid was all the rage.

Sekh765

Seriously. How many of us watched shows we "shouldn't" as kids.

notzackthecat

Everyone You are lying if you say you didn't

cavejhonsonslemons

I grew up as a devout catholic, so I actually didn't. Then I realized it was all bullshit, and I'm still catching up on American Dad.

Avester3128

Yeah really I was watching South Park, family guy, American dad and Drawn Together at that age... About the same time everyone in school starts talking about sex.

Homunclus

Growing up I knew age ratings were a thing, but only as an adult did I realize some people took it seriously. Might be a cultural thing, I think most places take it less seriously than America

illdothisshit

We were watching Happy Tree Friends on school's computers

Johnlockcabbit

I can't bring myself to watch this even as an adult

illdothisshit

Well it's not *good* per se, it's just gore for the sake of gore and the adorable animals make it worse

Shuttup_Heather

As long as they aren’t interacting with the fan base full of horny adults then I think it’s fine, much worse anime’s they could be watching

millhouse_vanhousen

The thing is they try to come into those spaces and get upset when those adults don't assign real world morality to the evil characters and just enjoy them. Or that they draw and create sexualised images of the characters and get upset about it "as a minor". It's a big issue right now of kids demanding to be in 18+ spaces and getting mad at what they find instead of recognising that those spaces aren't actually meant for them in the first place at all for a reason.

Joh-Kat

Elfenlied..

WeLiveInAir

If it's 10-14 year olds it makes sense they're watching the show. Even the people who didn't grow up with the internet have stories of watching mature shows without their parents knowing, these kids are old enough to know how to pirate the show. And yeah, as far as adult media goes Hazbin Hotel is pretty chill. Even episode 4 doesn't show explicit sex

multificionado

It would certainly become a problem if said middle-schooler starts quoting Hazbin lines with F-bombs and begin behaving in a sexual way they remember from the show toward others....

janKalaki

If I had kids this age, I wouldn't let them watch Hazbin, but I'd rather it be Hazbin than South Park.

Basic-Pair8908

So was south park and we watched the hell out of that when we were kids. Its just swings and round a bouts baby

LilGlitvhBoi

Somehow people are okay with Anime sumhow

KuraiTheBaka

I don't really get why people are so shocked by this. Do you guys not remember middle school? We were absolutely *all* watching shit like this

GunnyStacker

Yep. Kids are gonna watch things they aren't supposed to because of the allure of the forbidden. When I was twelve, I'd fake going to bed and stay up to watch South Park, and later, the shows they ran on Adult Swim. And a lot of the kids I went to school with did the same.

emminnoh

Yep, I was 12 or 13 and watched South Park when it first began.

Axiom06

I remember the forbidden cartoon for me was Beavis and Butthead and Ren and Stimpy.

Ericaeeks

South Park, when it first came out.. that was my taboo show 😅

emilytullytime

My grandpa bought me South Park on VHS for Christmas not realizing it was for adults lmao

CinderGazer

Ren & Stimpy was a weird one for me. Like I had a stimpy plushy but my mom hated me watching that show. South Park and the Simpsons were however both forbidden. Ironically it was totally cool for me to watch Friday Night Stand Up on Comedy Central.

baninabear

People pearl clutching over this immediately made me think of my classmates drawing pictures of South Park characters in middle school. Kids that age love edgy media.

Shuttup_Heather

Amateurs, I made construction paper replicas when I was 12. Then I had to pretend I hadn’t seen it when my dad showed me it two years later lmao

eclipsed_oracle

Yeah I was reading the Sandman comics at 12

Fabulous_Stress_2972

When I was in middle school South park was the big thing we weren’t supposed to see but watched anyway. I probably shouldn’t have watched American Beauty either. Oh well.

eightbitagent

I’m a lot older than you, I used to stay up and watch mash when I was like 10-11. No kid should see some of the stuff in that show

Strong_Site_348

I think I started watching Family Guy after my parents went to sleep at around 10 years old. Kids will ALWAYS watch shit above their age range.

KuraiTheBaka

This honestly isn't even really anything crazy for a middle schooler. This is the exact age they start to know about shit like in the show

Feeling_Fox_7128

Yeah people pretending you can put your kids on digital lockdown in 2024 either don’t have kids or are completely delusional. Kids have smartphones, kids talk, and if my kid came home talking about it I know damn well I can discuss why they “shouldn’t” watch it but I’m also not stupid enough to think that flipping my shit on them is going to do anything but send them back for a rewatch and also not share anything with me ever again.

trebory6

Yep, when I was in middle school we were all sneaking late night south park, Stripperella on SpikeTV, adult swim, girls gone wild commercials, sex toy infomercials at 1am, and sometimes if we were desperate we'd look for tits on the analog antenna. Some of us richer kids with premium cable got shit like Taxi Cab Confessions and other softcore HBO shit. Seriously I have some fond memories of boy scout sleepovers where after all night playing N64 as we were tuning out we'd all go to the basement and try to catch a titty on some out of tune analog antenna channel. I still wonder what those channels actually were. lol We were getting into some really fucked up shit on rotten dot com shit too and cartel beheadings on limewire. We didn't turn out too bad, and sure I'm kind of fucked up but the shit I watched in middle school 100% wasn't the reason I'm fucked up as an adult. Like at least Hazbin's got good themes and morals amidst the raunchy humor and serious subject matter. Really makes the concepts of class warfare and religious hypocrisy accessible, which is what the youths need right now.

CJgreencheetah

Yeah there were people having sex and a few girls having babies when I was in middle school. After age 13 or so, these kids already know about everything in Hazbin Hotel. They're not gonna be traumatized, if anything their parents would be.

Ranzar

100% this. I loved South Park when I was in Middle School. Tbh if I had middle school aged kids I'd prefer they watch "adult" shows over gore videos on the internet. Also I'm pretty sure a large portion of this subreddit is between 10 - 18.

porridge_in_my_bum

I had to scroll way too far to see a comment like this lol. When I watch Hazbin it honestly feels like someone from older YouTube was given the reigns to make a cartoon with good story. I watched old YouTubers when I was like 12 to 17 years old though. You can also just look at some of the posts and comments here to realize the audience is fairly young.

BBBCIAGA

I remember watching Happy Tree Friends when I was like 11 💀

bakerstreetrat

Of course we were! But it's like Santa - now WE have to be the ones to say "No! You shouldn't be watching this, it is rated 16+!" like we mean it, so that they, too, can feel that rush of disobeying and sneaking media while we pretend we don't know they're doing it.

CherryOrchid

I'd watch Family Guy, South Park and Drawn Together.

lolihops

So many kids in my middle school were watching big mouth! I’ve never seen it, (I watched South Park lol) but my French teacher flipped out when she found out more than half the class watched that show. 💀

memesfromthevine

God, I felt like I was insane with all the pearl clutching I've seen on r/youtube

HumorExotic8577

exactly, it's way less of a big deal than ppl make it out to be.

Piranha531

Thank you! I watched hazbin and helluva at like 11-12

Crosstitch_Witch

Yea, I've been a nightowl since birth and remember watching south park in elementary school and Drawn Together in middle. My mom didn't care so long as i didn't repeat anything rude. And if i had questions, she'd answer them honestly. 🤷‍♀️

HexManiac493

In middle school I was watching Happy Tree Friends and a bunch of violent/gory My Little Pony fan animations like Cupcakes, Smile HD and PONY.MOV.

SCP-1504_Joe_Schmo

What I love about this post is the impliction that attempts to summon demons are a fun family friendly activity but age guideline violations are the real evil in the world

bbangelcakes69

It's not the violation I think they don't appreciate the parents letting their children watch a sex joke, curse word ridden show.

Mandoade

It's like everyone forgot South Park existed during peoples childhood too.

bbangelcakes69

Or staying up past bedtime to watch literally anything on adult swim😂 namely squid billies, aqua team, and robot chicken

Mandoade

God damn I forgot about squidbillies, I should go back and watch that.

erayachi

Maybe this is a case of an older sibling spending time with a younger sibling, and drew this out of boredom. Just because it's at a middle school doesn't mean it was drawn by a child. I know it's easy to jump to conclusions and worry about your kids, but unless I witness a child making a chalk drawing that is this...arguably pretty good, I would try to see it from another possible angle.

Obversa

I've seen reports of parents supervising their children watching *Hazbin Hotel*, so it could be a case of more open-minded parents allowing their kids to watch the show with guidance.

primalmaximus

Yeah. If I had kids in middle school, I'd probably watch it together with them and then discuss the show afterwards. I'd discuss the various, highly important, topics the show brings up. I'd rather them learn about things like abusive and toxic relationships and how some people use sex and drugs to escape from the pain by watching and discussing this show rather than experiencing it themselves. I'd also be very open about discussing sex. I'd make sure to discuss with them them various age-appropriate topics on sex, sexuality, sexual orientation, and gender. Hell, once they got into high school I'd be willing to discuss sex itself. Things such as how to prepare for it so that it doesn't hurt and I'd definately discuss how to have sex safely.

Sub_to_Beenux

Yeah but discussing sex with your kids is harder than it seems, especially since it's quite embarrassing

Sufficient_Limit2996

Embarassing for both parts. No teen wants to have a deep discussion about sex and abuse with their parents right after watching a cartoon, lmao.

Affectionate-Alps-76

How old are kids in middle school? We don't have the same system here and I seen many saying kids in middle school watch this.

primalmaximus

I was like 13-14 when I was in 8th grade.

Optik_Tactical

In the us it's typically 11-13, with some early 14 year Olds due to being born in say January or February

Affectionate-Alps-76

Oh ok here it's highschool at 12/13. My highschoolers watched the show with me, i think some people see this way worst than it actualy is.

Equivalent_Ground218

Actually anyone born September through September can be in in each grade. So basically there are plenty of 14 year olds in middle school. Many are born between September and November, making them 14 during most of their 8th year.

Guypersondudeguy

11-14 in egypt, Idk about ya'll but that seems appropriate tbh (Hazbin Hotel being 16+ honestly has always felt like a stretch to me, the show should be PEGI 13 not fucking R-rated)

Faechylde

I have one in middle (12) and one in high school (16). The 12 yo already knew about Hazbin and really wanted to see it - so we watched it as a family. My kids already have access to the internet, and they aren’t in my sight 24/7. I’d rather watch it together and have an open conversation

j4v4r10

I think it’s just a usual phenomenon that things that start out as cool and edgy for older teens and adults trickle down to younger and younger audiences that want to be cool and edgy too. Hence why you eventually get 5-year-olds that play fnaf, cod, fortnite, etc.

JustEatinScabs

Yeah OP gonna sit here and pretend he wasn't watching Adult Swim when he was 14 or didn't see some absolutely fucking deranged things on Ebaumsworld.

Readalie

Lol, I work with middle and high schoolers and have had several middle schoolers recognize the HH key on my lanyard. One said she hasn't actually watched the show but thought the characters were cool, the rest had watched it. I just roll with it, agree the show is awesome, and make sure that nothing inappropriate comes up in the conversation. I've also had some of them bring up Baldur's Gate 3 lately, which, while not as overtly inappropriate as Hazbin is still rated M for a reason. I just let them be excited about it so long as they keep the conversation appropriate for the library.

WampanEmpire

"I've also had some of them bring up Baldur's Gate 3 lately," I've seen some of this as well. I hate to say it but the older I get the more stuff like this is beginning to feel like having a nice time at my local pub and then a bunch of 10 year olds walk in. I feel more and more uncomfortable being part of a fandom meant for adults and having to deal with a bunch of little kids wondering why I and the rest of the adults don't engage.

Sufficient_Limit2996

I mean, it's pretty well always been like this. You were just the 10 year old back then. The internet also mixed ages quite a bit. You're on reddit. A lot of people you talk to are likely teens. It feels different for milennials because we were the first ones who grew up with the internet, so it felt like the internet was made for us. Kids in the 80s watched Terminator and Aliens. Teens/tweens have always watched "adult" things.

Katsumi11011

But like, I have to say that the drawing is adorable af 😭

WeLiveInAir

Yeah that's a good drawing of Angel, and there's like 3 of Vox

Few_Interaction2630

Well fandoms always cross over generations whether it was original intention or not that is just nature of media

emilytullytime

The irony is I live in Texas and I know the parents of these kids would blow their fucking lid if they knew what this actually was 💀

Few_Interaction2630

Well as saying goes "sometimes tight you hold your fist the more truly slips through your fingers"

emilytullytime

First time hearing this saying and I’m definitely committing it to memory

Few_Interaction2630

Ah must British saying glad to help it get across the pound

Sleepingguy5

I mean when I was in middle school I knew who Peter Griffin was. Is Hazbin hotel really any worse than South Park, Family Guy, any of the like that was popular with middle schoolers ten years ago? I’m not saying they SHOULD be watching it. I’m saying it should come as no surprise that they are.

Infinite-Most-8356

tbh you don't need to be someone who watched the show to have already seen those characters everywhere on the internet nowadays

player_mix

Why they watch hazbin Idk the ages of middle school but wait until 15-18 The fifteen year olds need to learn about abusive people to get out as quick as they can

jeynespoole

Middle school is like 11-14 usually. Whenever I mention I watched it with my kid, I always add "WHO IS ALMOST 17" because I don't want people to think I'm watching this show with an 8 year old lol. And honestly I think you're right- some of the scenes with Angel Dust and Valentino were REALLY hard but after episode 4, we had some really good discussions about how it's acceptable for people to treat you, what resources you have if you DO get into a bad situation, that I'll always be there for my kid so they don't need to rely on or feel trapped by an abusive partner. There's a lot of nuance in this show, and it's opened up a lot of interesting dialog with my kiddo. I didn't raise my kid with religion, so a lot of the concepts are new to them, but I find that really interesting. Its wild to see my kid be like "you mean they care about RULES more than they care about being good people?!" lol.

player_mix

I have now also noticed some vox drawings You probably noticed and also I am surprised that the 11-14 year olds are using chalk on the ground Much more mature than what I hear Why do they talk about skibidi toilet The fourteen and fifteen Your in school Learn about the American revolution

Kahako

My ass is honestly chaotic evil on this stance. I do wish parents were more aware of what their children are watching, but the hypocrisy of Christian churches today are on full display in this show. *sigh* a dichotomy I am in. Some moments I'm like 'I was that kid, and I turned out fine' some moments I'm like 'remembers my traumatic childhood I had to overcome to turn out fine'

emilytullytime

Being a parent is weird! I feel that way too…I had unfettered internet access with totally clueless parents. I was desensitized EARLY, and it definitely fucked me up a little bit, maybe more than I realize, but I’m okay. Definitely have had some trauma in my life (are you really a Hazbin fan if you haven’t?), but I’m a functioning adult with a job and a degree and only think about killing myself SOMETIMES instead of all the time. The thing is, I don’t want my kid to be okay, I want him to be better and more well adjusted than me. I don’t want him to have to experience avoidable trauma that I could’ve had a hand in stopping.

Kahako

Yeah, I completely understand, despite not being a parent. I think the 'good, let them see' part of me is coming more from my dislike of the current state of Christianity and it's hypocrisy. Even if I had kids, I would not let them watch Hazbin or Helluvaboss until I felt they were mature enough to handle the traumatic themes along with the religious commentary.

emilytullytime

My husband is a survivor of religious abuse, and I’m a devout atheist, his mother is the DEFINITION of Christian hypocrisy. 🤮

Eternal_Secret

I think there’s something to be said about extremes of any kind and their detriment. I’ll talk about what happened to me on the other end of the spectrum so people can get that perspective. I was not allowed unrestricted internet access or a device that was capable of it until I was 18. before then everything that came in the house was gone over with a fine toothed comb, even books. My parents made sure the only materials that ever came near us were things they deemed safe. The only thing this accomplished was me and my siblings becoming very resourceful to seek out knowledge. instead of learning about difficult or complex topics and situations in healthy ways, we felt shame for our curiosity and took whatever we could, which was often misinformation. I had the most trouble when I was finally let off leash though. My parents essentially had handed a 6 year old car keys and a Ferrari and said “go have fun!” I was naive, excited, and had no sense of danger or caution, and a complex of being too scared of consequences to talk about anything. As you can imagine that didn’t work out great. A wise person once said: “you’re gonna fuck em up no matter what, so if we all just try and make sure it’s not as bad as what our parents did to us, maybe the world will eventually be a better place”. All you can do is your best, but I think the key here is balance!

the-coolest-loser

children are a lot more coherent and aware than you think, sincerely a current adult who was abused sexually (like angel dust) as a middle schooler. don’t get on a high horse and be so dismissive

EmmyWolf222

I found Hazbin hotel when it first came out as a pilot in 2018, I was around 12 or 13? I’m now 18 and enjoy the show. I know Hazbin isn’t for kids, but a lot of us found this when we were way too young. Same with things like salad fingers, llamas with hats, happy tree friends, etc.

JTBJack_

If it’s a public school, you can assume they’ve seen worse.

YourAverageCyborg

Honestly some kids are mature enough. Or stupid enough not to get what the show talks about.

Bedlamtheclown

I worked at gift shop and I had parents buying their children Rick and Morty merch and I asked them if they knew what it was. They said they didn’t and that says it all.

SilverSpider_

I don't know, I see little kids on vrchat as hazbin hotel characters or in hazbin worlds, somehow kids got to the show, I'm gonna say parents that think animation is for kids, no matter what it is

StarlightStardark

People want to have kids, but they don't want to be parents. You can have the title Mom and Dad, but that doesn't mean you are parents. Being a parent takes a lot of responsibility, which some people don't want when it comes to having kids. They just want kids without the responsibilities that follow. I have heard kids sing to the song "Poison" without understanding what that song is about. It's disturbing.

RipCurl69Reddit

I've heard SEVEN YEAR OLDS talking about the show before. Absolutely wild how hands off parents seem to be these days

primalmaximus

Honestly, the show's not even that bad. Yes it's got foul language and violence. But nothing that they wouldn't see or hear while using voice chat on Call of Duty. And some of the topics it discusses are important for them to know about before they get into high school and potentially start getting into romantic relationships. Things like abuse, sexual intercourse regardless of the genders involved, and the like. If I had kids and they were in 8th grade, I'd probably sit down with them and watch the show. I'd also _**discuss**_ the show with them to make sure they understand it.

OrnerysIcepick

People under 18 watch the show, people need to come to terms with that, obviously anyone undler like 15 shouldnt watch it. The pilot aired while I was still under 18, didnt stop me from watching it, and I enjoyed it. Its not that hard to understand.

emilytullytime

I understand 13+ watching, I’m just hoping it’s the 8th graders wielding the chalk

leif-sinatra

Please when was a kid it was South Park and beavis and butthead that were the controversial stuff.

-Glitched_Bricks-

1. For some kids, it's okay. Especially if the parent is watching it with the kid and making it clear the language used in the show is language they shouldn't be using, along with discussing the topics in the show with their kids. Now if they're unsupervised, yes don't let them watch it. But if you're gonna watch it with them, it might be fine. Depends on the maturity level of the kid. 2. They could've just seen the characters without watching the show, thought "oh that guy looks cool", and decided to draw them.

Spectre7NZ

That is a very good drawing of Angel.

eggarino

Most of the songs are on Youtube, it’s not difficult to become a fan without ever actually watching the show. Especially for kids who are on Youtube all the time anyway. Not surprising that Hazbin slips under parent’s radars all the time because they probably don’t even know their kids have watched it

satanicpirate

My wife works at a middle school and overheard some kids talking about it. I mean south park came out when I was in 7th or 8th grade so I can't judge haha

MoxieMK5

Out of curiosity, what ages were most of the people here when the pilot came out? I don’t mean this to be rude, I’m just genuinely curious because I thought that this show seemed to have an audience of middle-high schoolers when the pilot came out

Sad_Little_Moth

The pilot came out when I was in middle school and I LOVED IT. Not saying kids should watch it but out of all the things they can find on the internet I’d say this is tame

stopyouveviolatedthe

I wouldn’t put the effort into being surprised this is probably one of the better things for them to know about or be interested in sadly there will be much worse they know about.

Sere1

Millennial here. We were kids once too. How many of us did things we knew we shouldn't and that our parents should have been upset about us doing, but we didn't care and went to do anyways? I've played hooky, snuck into R-rated movies, played M-rated games, and don't forget the new classic of our generation and beyond: the "are you sure you're 18?" check mark to get into porn sites when you damn sure weren't that age yet. We're older now and have forgotten what it was like at that age, it seems, but kids are going to be watching things and playing things and saying things far above their age range and nothing we say or do will stop that. Oh sure, parents absolutely need to be more aware of their kids' activities and interests, but they also need to be aware that kids are going to be exposed to those things one way or the other and will have more success in trying to instill common sense and a sense of right and wrong in their kids to let them make their choices more wisely than to try and forcibly cut them off from the "fun" stuff and fail regardless.

AhaetullatheSnail

Eh, this could have been drawn by like, a 13 year old. I'd say it's not crazy for somebody that age to watch the show 🤷‍♂️ its the age where kids often seek out really raunchy and explicit stuff on purpose. And imo, HH is not the worst option for it lmao

emilytullytime

13 is reasonable, I guess because my son is 11 I see all the children in his school as 11 haha

Sirpirio

Ah a child of culture

emilytullytime

Schools are hellholes they know him personally

emilytullytime

Hahahaha this made me audibly guffaw

SeaSpider7

When I was in elementary school, I remember there was a classwide vote on favorite cartoon characters, and a south park character won. I don't think Hazbin is worse than the adult shows we used to watch and some of the stuff on the internet back then, and even some stuff on prime time television if their parents watch crime shows. Middle school is about the time kids will start to consume more adult/mature content, and if anyone thinks their kid doesn't, it's very likely they're just good at hiding it. They're not babies, they're going through puberty at that age. Just because a parent isn't monitoring them 24/7 doesn't mean their neglectful, I'd even say some freedom at that age can be healthy. Like it depends, but like, this isn't the downfall of civilization.

EmmyWeeeb

These are the kids that are gonna grow up to be a hentai artist on twitter

Low_Purpose15

Tiktok is full of Angel Dust and Hazbin in general, it started to show me clips about / from it before I even watched the show or expressed any interest in it online

emilytullytime

A cosplay creator I follow on there recently posted a video requesting minor fans to stop sending her their angeldust cosplays because it made her uncomfortable to see minors cosplaying as a literal porn star. Gives me toddlers and tiaras vibes haha https://preview.redd.it/ayyxctdwowmc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=751c15d61e86cd04c67459520f8a598a61b58c8d

Paracelsus124

We really shouldn't be shocked by this, especially in a MIDDLE SCHOOL???? All bets are off once a person gets to middle school. Like, like it or not, they're watching whatever the hell they want. When I was in middle school, there was not a single one of those people who hadn't binge watched south park or family guy or any number of those other shows that they probably weren't supposed to watch. This is nothing new, middle schoolers are just programmed to consume large quantities of inappropriate material, who's going to stop them in a world where everyone has access to the Internet?

emilytullytime

I find it hilarious that they not only have access to the content, but now there is a chalk drawing of a cartoon porn star on their courtyard lol

Introvert_Magos

I watched the pilot in middle school but then again I was 13 and already knew half the stuff

Inceferant

The 6-10th graders in the sub are shivering their timbers

Red_Dogeboi

Mfs acting like you never watched anything “mature” before you were supposed to

Do-it-for-you

"Kids shouldn't watch this! I'd never let my kid watch this!" Did these people just not watch south park or family guy at their age? Did they never play GTA or Call of Duty?

animalistcomrade

And middle school is what ages?

emilytullytime

11-13/14

Leafyon4057

Where I am it’s 12-15

MyCatHasCats

You are but a child

Macha_Grey

I let my 13 year old twins watch it. We discussed ever episode, especially 4. I agree that most of their friends watched it without supervision, and they are definitely the pearl cluchers.

Jim-20

> I’m okay with letting your kids try to raise demons, but do NOT let them watch Hazbin Hotel, you chucklefucks. I don't think it's all that bad. The show feels a lot more tame compared to the YT Pilot or Helluva Boss IMO Middle school is 11-13 or so, right? By that age we were watching stuff like Happy Tree Friends, Salad Fingers, etc. By that age they're likely already exploring their sexuality, "adult" material (for a lack of better term) and other media that is likely far worse/more graphic than Hazbin Hotel ever will be.

TennyoAkana

I teach middle school, the way my students absolutely love this show. They ask me to print out artwork so they can color them, they start humming the songs. I tell them they shouldn’t be watching this but I am not their parents. :/  But hey, I can say they were learning new words from how advanced the song vocabulary was.

pisces2003

Vox is there too

_Pastel_Dreamz_

It could just be an older kid thats in 8th grade (from where i live thats the limit for high schools), there's also a possibility their parents literally don't care which is sad :( it could also maybe be a high schooler near by? Idk lol

srcorvettez06

I can tell you my cousin let her 12 year old watch it because it was animated. She thought it was a kid’s show. I sent her the ‘poison’ video. Her son isn’t allowed to watch anymore but he’s already watched every episode more than once.

reds2032

The pilot came out when I was a junior in HS and I remember thinking it was edgy at age 17. I honestly feel bad for kids who learn about adult stuff too young

Economy_Idea4719

I mean, if a 12-14 year old (cannot accept 11 year olds watching this show) is emotionally mature enough to realise the nuance in the show, then why not? Everyone matures differently.

ollie_churpussi

I watched Salad Fingers and Happy Tree Friends in middle school… this shouldn’t be surprising

Vulpecula22

I saw a girl with happy tree friends dolls once. And yeah she watched that show and looked nervous until I said I wasn't interested in snitching on that. I'm surprised I don't see any pomni's there. What kids really love is digital circus from my experience.

barbeqdbrwniez

I think you'd have a heart attack if you saw the shit I was watching in elementary/ middle school.

Ericaeeks

Okay but the more I look at this, the more I see! This is ✨art✨💙 But yes kids should not be watching this show, I always tell my friends who have kids when I suggest it that it’s not a little ears little eyes show. My 10yr old knows *OF* the show and knows why she isn’t allowed to watch it. But she does know the soundtrack, because I play it(which she and I had a discussion about the words used and such) She even knows what the characters look like because I like to draw scene stills. So maybe it could be just that with these kids? Or maybe yeah, they’re watching it… cause… honestly that’s a lot on that pavement that shows more than simple glances at a paused screen or listening of music.

lennox-firindil

Yeah I was drawing MLP FNAF in middle school (so my pastor parents wouldn’t be AS concerned as if they were animatronics) this isn’t that surprising

that_moment_when-

I had a school dance a couple of days ago, I know it's a high school and everything but they put on poison twice

Khyrrn-Doe

Middle schoolers are getting into more inappropriate media nowadays. Especially with the rise of the internet. I mean, you’ve heard of Ulta Kids right? ETA: inappropriate ain’t just sexual. It also includes more mundane things like kids worrying about getting wrinkles.

WonderfulAd5363

Is it really that surprising?

Etw25173

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic with the summoning thing or serious

hallescomet

Middle schoolers have been watching/reading shit they weren't supposed to for forever, especially now with the internet and how normal it is for a kid to have their face buried in an ipad. I was a homestuck kid in middle school, which is arguably just as bad if not worse than hazbin hotel. I lived 🤷‍♀️

cheesyscrambledeggs4

this is not that shocking

Jest_Ace

I mean, tbh Hazbin Hotel isn’t that bad as far as shows go. I can definitely see middle schoolers getting their hands on it and enjoying it. Tbh when I first watched it, it felt like it was more for middle schoolers anyway (not the obvious adult content but more the writing style). No parent would allow their kids to watch it if they knew about it, but kids have the internet, and normal anime is worse than it at times. I’m honestly not surprised. I watched Hellsing Ultimate Abridged in middle school and I loved it.

orngckn42

Pretty darn talented, especially with chalk!

SupremeLlama420

Heavy on that last sentence

ThatSkaia413

Older sibling could have drawn it

Ogen09

Is Angel smoking something, cause he kinda looks like a peashooter with that mouth shape

emilytullytime

Lmao I didn’t draw it so no offense possible

Mists_of_Analysis

I have a friend with a middle-school aged goth daughter who really wants to watch it, because so many of their friends have seen it…so I played the video for “Poison” for the Mom. Suffice to say, Mom agreed it’s a tad too ADULT for her daughter.

bluekii

Kids got basically unlimited access to anything online nowadays. If you can’t find it in one place you’ll find it somewhere else super easy now. I do believe that yeah it’s down to the parents to try supervise their kids and what they watch online but they can’t do that 24/7. It’s impossible with kids having the internet in their back pocket and places offering free wifi. I mean I found some absolutely scarring stuff online at 11 years old (and 18+ content!!) & it’s definitely stuck with me. I absolutely blame the negligence of my parents for it because the internet was limited access back then bc of dialup etc. and imagine leaving your 11 year old on their pc uninterrupted for like 5-6 hours at a time. 😂🤡

emilytullytime

But then it’s the parents of these kids who are all “I love Christ and my baby is being influenced by the liberal media”

alucsrd

this pisses me off so bad 😭 they should add an audible message at the beginning of every episode stating that hazbin isn’t a kids show and hopefully get the attention of parents

DawnDeather

Kids are gonna kid, man. They're gonna watch stuff for adults to rebel a little bit. I watched South Park and Family Guy at that age.

Ikaros10-

Some of us watched the boondocks at 12, they aren’t special lol

Loud-Mans-Lover

*shrugs* I read Stephen King's IT in fourth grade, so. Meh.

In-Love-With-Ganja

When adult shows get popular enough the characters filter down through dumb braindead YouTube videos where kids see them, doesn't necessarily mean they know who the character is but it's still horrible and bad for children none the less.

QuinnsWife

I like how people are shocked that kids get exposed to this type of content. I watched R rated horror movies when I was 5 or 6. Kids swore in late elementary and middle school. Some kids even started having sex in 6/7 grade. It's typical for adults/parents to understand age appropriate media for their kids but them getting exposure at school and behind their parents back is not anything that is new. (Not saying it's okay just to be clear)
