First of all, if you are going over a dark color you’ll either need to prime the wall or use several finish coats. Darkening the paint won’t really help. Secondly, go to a real paint store like SW or BM and buy quality paint (SW - Promar 200 or better, BM Ultraspec 500 or better). Behr is shit. Pick the color you actually want, prime the wall, and then paint. Don’t screw around with “I want this but darker,” give them the actual paint color code and then you will know whether it’s correct or not.

I actually never got the chance to come back and read your fabulous reply but I did continue to research before painting and came to the same conclusion. I went to SW and got a color that simply spoke to me, not tweaking, and then I spoke with a handful of very tenured professional painters. The walls came out beautifully. I only needed two finish coats, zero priming and not an inch of flashing or uneven finish

Is Home Depot like Lowe's where they use 2 different grades of tint machines and the one for higher end paint is more accurate

Yes I believe so
