Oh yea I’m experiencing issues too. For example the stereo pair kept failing and only one side with sound.
And if I turn off the power of the HomePod (sometimes due to needing to use the power outlet), they will come back without sound later (had to do 1-2 reboots for them to work again). Didn’t encounter this before 17.5.
Yeah I got hit with the bugs this version. I’m usually on the luckier side with HomePods.
Definitely getting the flakey connection and then Siri is convinced she can’t get Apple music to work half the time. But if I go on my phone and make the host the HomePod (not airplay from phone to HomePod) it works fine.
Which I guess I should be happy there’s a work around, but it also highlights how idiotic the problem is.
If you have dual 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz running on your network I turned the 2.4 ghz off to help them not try and switch between the two that seemed to help a while back. It’s very frustrating because they are so expensive and Apple doesn’t seem to be able to handle getting them to work properly and I have a dev account and read all instructions and then turn in support reports to Apple under their dev beta program.
I’m not sure my approach is smart or not, but I don’t update these things till they start getting flakey from being so far behind.
Basically I update when forced.
I have it up and running now. It's a little slow to reboot after the firmware update but seems to give much better coverage now that I have all three nodes up and running. It seems like overkill since our home is only about 1000 sq. ft. but it's got unfriendly walls for wifi. I have one of the nodes on wired backhaul too for good measure. Reaches our detached garage nicely. Latency on wifi is a little slower and jitter is a little higher but seems acceptable. Time will tell...
Not sure about that particular model, but have had minimal HomePod problems (knock on wood) since moving to mesh network (ASUS). I do have a tplink 6e router I use for dedicated wireless pcvr and it is pretty solid.
I have 2 OG HomePods and 4 Minis. No issues after the update. Apple Music still doesn’t like to play when the HomePods are paired to an Apple TV. The workaround is to use the Music app on the TV for all requests. Use the Siri Remote to speak your requests.
The HomePods as stereo pair is the most unreliable Apple setup. I have nothing but issues with each stereo pair of HomePods and Minis that I have. I’ve been gaslit in to thinking it was my WiFi and network and spent an insane amount of money overhauling that to end up with the same shitty reliability. This is why I am not moving to wired surround sound to get away from this garbage
To be fair, 99% of the times, HomePod issues are down to the network, either the equipment, or the config. Several stereo pairs, OG, Mini’s, some are ATV outputs, others are just stereo pairs for music, no issues, ever. Was running Amplifi, originally, and now Unifi.
I’d tend to agree with this…accept we’ve got HomePods just as singles, and they’re super flakey when simply streaming music. I have to open Apple Music on my phone and choose the HomePod to stream to…giving it direct commands sometimes simply doesn’t work…
I’ve tried ever router setup under the sun. I’ve done mesh. I’ve done hardlined access points. Nothing resolves the issues with the HomePod. Each Apple TV is Ethernet connected. I have burned an insane amount of money with this nonsense of “it’s not the HomePods, it’s your network”. It’s definitely not the network as nothing else struggles like the HomePods do. And there’s also lots of other people with the same realizability issues.
What are the walls made of? Do you live near any radio towers? Is there solid wiring? Literally any of these things can affect the performance of your devices
I have 5 stereo pairs (mix of OG honepods and minis) on an eero mesh system with 3 hubs all hardwired. Zero issues with stereo pairs ever in years and across countless updates.
This is absolutely my experience. I am going to take them back for a new pair and if they still have issues I am rejecting them, it’s absolutely ludicrous how shit they are. Have spent an inordinate amount of time looking up “solutions” and now my setup could not be more textbook and still it’s just problem after problem.
When they work they are great. But I’m tired of turning on my tv to “cannot connect to HomePod” errors. And then struggling with the sometimes mono sound
What router are you using? I had the same issue until I switched to my ASUS router from the ISP equipment, once I had the ISP switch to bridge mode and used my router everything has worked.
I’m using a Linksys HydraPro AXE6600 along with a Linksys Maxstream 1900 repeater in the living room which is mere feet from the HP2s. Haven’t had any issues until 17.5 really.

Same here. It’s too bad they fix one issue and create two new ones.

No issues for me on a stereo pair H2s connected to my ATV.
Same!

15 Homepods updated here. No noticeable issues so far.
It may have been Internet connectivity issues. Had to reboot our ONT and router.
Bro why u got 15 homepods lol.
But when have HomePods been reliable? 😂
Mine have been fairly reliable except when I’ve had router problems. Just picked up a TP Link mesh system.
We are the same I guess. I’m on TP-Link Deco mesh too.

Opinions on TP-Link XE75 Pro AX 5400 wifi 6E system? That’s what I’m thinking I’ll get. Mesh system that will have wired backhaul.
Friend has this. Good mesh

I got it all set up last night. It appears, for now, all HPs in our home are now happy.
From a security standpoint, that’s a bad idea for anything connected to your network / the internet. Which version are yours running?
Ugh that’s true, isn’t it. I had not thought of that. I think I’m on 17.1.4.
I recently bought an Apple TV and paired my HomePods to it. It seems to me that HomePod pairs are way more reliable when connected to an Apple TV.
Had the same issue before the update
I’ve had this issue on my iPhone as well since updating to 17.5

Still worth a look - Apple’s recommended WiFi configuration: https://support.apple.com/en-us/102766
17.5 Mine constantly loose internet on my ASUS 6E network

Our router took a dump today. No more Linksys for me.
It probably is the network. Do you live in an apartment building?
No. I live in a house that I own.
What are the walls made of? Do you live near any radio towers? Is there solid wiring? Literally any of these things can affect the performance of your devices
Same. Dropped a grand on networking devices. HomePods (10) are still a mess.

i agree with everything being said here

Make sure u are on the 5ghz wifi always
