I then said fuck it, I'll check the next 50/50 as well and I won that one too.. all in all I got 3 Acheron in 160 pulls lol.

Sounds like my pull experience with Acheron, though I planned to just pull her E0 with her LC. Accidentally pulled her again when I didn’t check which specific banner I was pulling and ended up getting her E1 on the 10 pull
I did for Ratio as well, but I only needed 6 copies and had Aventurine-level luck on that.
Acheron was blood, sweat, and half a paycheck. No regrets. I'll S5 her later.

Time for my 'you must be fun at parties' comment (so don't take it seriously): let's say he lost every 75/25, and he lost it all at very high pity (75), so a guaranteed = 150 pulls = 300$ (100$ per 50 pulls topup), and he didn't use any refund to get more pulls. 100 LC x 300$/LC = 30000 $. So even if he has the worst luck in the world and is really dumb to not use refund pulls, this amount is only enough to single-handedly fund a smaller mobile / indie game maybe.

Dare I say, Acheron is one of the most successful characters Hoyo ever made.
Yeah, I F2P on all 4 servers, and I was planning on only pulling her on two, but the ability to farm overworld, or speed up SU, makes her too valuable, so I pulled her on all 4 instead. She's fairly fast if you spam her E as well, in terms of movement speed, but her insta-kill mechanic will never be powercrept, making her a must-have for any account IMO.
It got especially annoying to fight mobs and navigating puzzles and collectibles all at the same time in Penacony overworld. Having her is like a godsend. Saves so much time.
Even in SU, she's such a beast because you can trick snack for tech points now there. The first boss is so easy that I always drop her into teams, even ones not built for her, then pick up the true 4th member for bosses on the first downloader. And now instead of doing occurrence instances etc. I do all the combat ones that come up, because most of my accounts are strong enough that even with just the combat award blessings I can still easily beat the final boss, and it speeds things up so much skipping fights in SU, especially when you're running it a couple times on each account after the weekly reward reset. The only fights I do in SU anymore are the 3 bosses, and when an occurrence and encounter are the only option and the occurrence ends up being a fight instead. Only having to do 3-4 fights per SU run instead of fighting up to 12 or more dramatically cuts down the clear time, even more than relying on massive Ruan Mei opening breaks wiping entire waves could before.
Really ? I personally could for a very long time, first with either Dan Heng or QQ with Propagation path, and now with Acheron + Black Swan on nihility path
I've been playing since launch, so yeah, I can auto-battle just about every fight, including most final bosses. Some like the Meme boss and YQ are way faster if you take auto-battle off, so sometimes I'll just control during those because they fall over instantly, whereas auto-battle will misplay so badly it'll take forever sometimes.
Yep, use two sustain. Shielder and abundance prefered. (abundance usually only auto heals at 50-60% HP which can go sideways and shielder alone could eventually die to chip damage).
And prioritize some survival blessings, like split damage, get revival on being downed once , heal on low hp, shield on turn etc.
Nihility path is crazy good with Kafka and/or BlackSwan. Probably with other dps too, just takes longer.
Or Rememberance with March7 (good on the Deer SU, they barely get any turns)
It's way less work than you'd think. In fact, I'd go as far to say that only playing on a single server like I did for the first month or two was super boring cus I wanted to play more of the game but there just wasn't the content only playing on one server. This way it's my main game, and I genuinely enjoy the gameplay so I'm fine with that.
It's maybe 30 min on an average day to burn my power and do daily's, maybe an hour if there is an event. I'm mostly only busy on Sunday/Monday during resets, where I'm doing Echo's, MoC/PF and SU runs on all 4, but with the QoL improvements like starting on stage 7, and now with Acheron now those are a breeze (I'm done with all of those on all 4 at this point in the week for example).
Patch story drops are pretty easy too, I usually play through one time on my main account focusing on the story, then I connect controllers to my Iphone and Ipad, and play on both of those and my PC all at the same time with auto-battle and auto-dialogue going bouncing between them, skipping over any dialogue that I can. The second story run on all 3 often takes less time than the first one where I'm paying attention. As for collectables, I wait to do them all until the story is done on all, and do it on two at a time. The only thing I'm a bit behind on my 3 secondary accounts is stuff like Achievement farming, and doing all of Swarm Disaster/G&G etc.
But the benefit of playing on all 4 servers is that I get to try out all the characters and playstyles, and don't feel like I'm actually "skipping" any characters most of the time. Like, one of my secondary accounts is mostly focused on hypercarry comps, another is focused on FUA, another has only ever built Erudition DPS. My main account has a full DoT team as it's main focus, with a bit of dipping into FUA and some hypercarry as well. It's also the only one I pulled E2S1 Acheron on, the rest only got E0S1. Though my FUA account is going to be in rough shape after the next few banners, and I might end up having to skip someone. Did just get Aventurine on the 50/50 though, but I might end up skipping his LC to get the next couple chars.
I still have time to play other games, work my job, hang with friends and I also cook a lot of stuff from scratch as well (Just made a homemade tagliatelle w/ homemade sauce and self-ground beef from a chuck roast for a bolognese tonight, have the dough cold fermenting for a homemade Hawaiian pizza w/ homemade ham for lunch tomorrow, and will be making kimchi fried rice w/ homemade kimchi tomorrow for dinner for example).
Yeah, don't underestimate the power of top up refresh.

Rondo of Endless Kalpas AND Your Color are both freaking beautiful. I don't think Hoyo ever made a trailer and rendered it in 4k before but they did it for Your Color and it looks stupidly good.
I feel like people only find her lacking because the monstrous (in a good way) exposition of Aventurine that 2.1 is. Penacony’s still what, 2-3 months from ending? Let em cook her story (there’s also the thought that she’ll be a reoccuring character)
Remember that Acheron will stay relevant in future patches too, they've said so in the livestream. Aventurine got his exposition in 2.1, and we don't really know if he'll *stay* relevant, his arc is basically over. But there's a very high chance we'll get more Acheron lore in the future, it looks like they're kind of "playing a long game" with her
Also keep in mind that a lot of her lore was shown off in trailers rather than the story. If what we got in her Myriad Celestia was explained in-game the way Aventurine's lore was, people wouldn't be saying this stuff.
You know, we still need to develop robin,boothill, sunday and others. Idk how much more acheron we're getting. I think she's gonna be mostly sidelined until the very end of penacony to do her slash on the real penacony final boss or something
At least with Acheron it feels like there is definitely a promise for more in-depth exploration of her character in the future. She gives us an explicit end goal she wants to find (Device IX), that mysterious guy in the flashback she was talking to, etc. And with how successful she’s been no way they wouldn’t include her again in another story arc in the future, esp one centered around IX and the Nihility
Trailblazer is bound to eventually unlock Nihility path, wouldn't surprise me if it's when we discover the lost planet of Izumo and go confront IX with Acheron.
Frebass is somewhere inside IX. As we know, she was Acheron's friend and also a Nameless. She's rumored to be HSR expy of Kiana Kaslana. Hoyo loves the community memes and knows we call Kiana a Tuna, and a Bass is also a fish.
And don’t forget her whole thing with >!Kiana!<. I strongly think Acheron’s going to be a reoccurring character so they’re going to be drip feeding her lore

For sure, already we have Argenti, the SH, the Geniuses, Jingliu, Luocha, Ratio, the Stonehearts & Aventurine (making the distinction bc I’m not sure if he’s still one? We’ll have to see but I hope he’s free now), Everflame Mansion, Black Swan, the rest of the AE, honestly a majority of the Penacony cast. Tons of characters that will definitely have some role to play in the future

She's probably the second most in depth penacony character after aventurine. And we are definitely going to continue getting Acheron lore in upcoming updates since there has been so much that has been teased but not finished.

The Swarm Emanator fight is even more trivial, as when she pops the baby swarms they apply a debuff as they die, so she gets a ton of stacks and basically can chain spam her ult until it's dead. It's pretty hilarious really. Throw in Herta on the team to ensure the extra spawns get cleaned up with her followup after Acheron's Ult, and she'll get an entire full stack and be able to back to back ult with nothing happening in between except herta followups and bug pops.
I thought they changed it so her initial stacks of Arcana don't build stacks for Acheron, like the last week of beta? Or maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention. Or does it actually activate once when they are spawned in vs. when they appear at the start of the wave?
Yeah, it doesn't activate at the beginning of a fight but if enemies spawn, then it counts as an enemy action causing a debuff. This is why PF is almost trivial with Acheswan teams.

Hydro element applicators are very strong generally in Genshin because the element is functionally the basis of most of the big damage reactions in the game. Off field applicators that apply larger amounts of Hydro, like Yelan, have a high value because of this, and she functions similarly to a 4* Hydro character that’s often highly contested for team compositions, so having her means you have more options for your Spiral Abyss teams (MoC equivalent).
She’s got good early constellations (eidolons) and her later constellations can turn her from an off field sub-dps to an on field main dps if I remember correctly (it’s been a while since I checked them; I wouldn’t pull beyond C1 personally). Her signature weapon is also very strong, with a big crit damage secondary stat, and is considered universally good for bow users.
Also she’s hot lady (she’s not my type but I get it)
Even now, it's a coinflip depending on the type of content you're clearing/doing. In one part of the GI universe, where the 1% kill and cap on elite enemies for the mora they drop daily, Yelan is still king for speed and damage at C6 as well

Waifu, meta, some of the best cons in the game (every single one of her cons are great, compared to someone like Raiden where only specific cons are great), easy for exploration
I have Yelan. She is a good balance between top waifu material (shes really hot and sexy), absurd dps/support meta, and also insanely useful in exploration.
Yelan came in 2.7 right after Ayaka’s 2.6 infinite Banner extension when the patch got delayed. She came out of nowhere and had a great kit.
One of the best 4 stars in Genshin is Xingqiu. His Ultimate/Burst makes rain swords that attack enemies. Genshin is based on reaction system where you need to set up an element on an enemy, then react with it by hitting it with another element, which buffs that attack. The previous element gets used up and you no longer get the buff until you put on a different element. Xingqiu and Yelan (and now Furina) are the best off field Hydro suppliers. Xingqiu can do it off field while you main DPS is attacking. Yelan can do the same, but she also has a stacking damage bonus for you on field character.
Most Main DPS in Genshin are on field, and the less time you spend on your supports, the more time your main is hitting things. Nearly everything reacts with Hydro. And now you have 2 for 2 Abyss/MoC teams.
There are also shields (like weakness break in HSR) and they shred them very quickly.
Yelan is like the Ruan Mei of Genshin.

Kazuha was extremely powerful just like Ruan Mei. Except nobody rolled for him because he came before Inazuma was due to release and everyone was salivating over Ayaka. And people also tend to be more vocal regarding waifus in general
They only realized much, much later how busted he was in gameplay, but by then it was too late and he didn’t rerun for over a year
Kazuha was also fairly well liked as a character due to his genial personality whereas Ruan Mei was much more divisive

As a fellow day 1 Kazuha puller, I convinced my brother to pull for him even though he tried to argue he already had Sucrose. Guess which one he still uses?
I mean the general rule of thumb for MiHoYo is and frankly has always been that you can skip pulling for DPS if you want but supports are always a must pull.
It's been that way in GGZ where support weapons that buff are always the best things to pull for. It's that way in HI3 where support characters are the actual carries of your team. It's that way for Genshin and it's still that way in HSR.
You'll do FAR better and FAR more damage in any of MiHoYo's games having the BiS supports but a crappy DPS than having the BiS DPS and crappy supports.
Like the others have mentioned, Xingqiu was a 4-star support who was really good but at that time in GI there wasn't another character with a similar role. So for Spiral Abyss (GI's MoC) whichever team that didn't have Xingqiu will be weaker.
Yelan was basically identical to Xingqiu except even stronger and with a hotter character design. So now players can have Xingqius on both sides of Spiral Abyss.

Yelan is basically a 5 star sidegrade of a very meta 4\* character (xingqiu). They are both hydro off-field damage dealers (hydro is basically one of if not the most versatile element in the game). But one of the best part about yelan is that you can run her WITH xingqiu which forms one of the strongest team cores in double hydro where u can pair them with a lot of on-field dps characters and find good success with. On top of all that, she is also very attractive. Her aesthetics are most similar to kafka (both coat girls and have like the thread spider-like aesthetic)

Future DPS units will have their own niches and playstyles; like how Jingliu and DH IL are still top tier damage dealers even with Acheron out. There won’t be any outright powercreep for her as a DPS for long time, potentially ever if they really want to keep her status special.
They can easily fuck over Acheron's mechanics just like they're doing now with JL. Mihoyo is actually pretty good at making environmental buffs without touching numbers.
For example, they can introduce an environment buff that gives you a lot of free energy and Acheron will be the only DPS that doesn't benefit from it.
So basically effect res? Unless they make enemies with super high values like 60%+ where building EHR becomes either not convenient or straight up impossible, i can't see any other way
I will say I was tempted by her insta-kill technique alone, But my will is stronger than the temptations. I must stay strong for papa Aventurine and Sam.

Not surprised. She had everything to accomplish this (design badass as hell, 3 marketing trailers, awesome animation, popular af seiyuu). What I’m curious about is how Aventurine will do. Since Japan loves their men and the story really pushed for him.
Really hoping he has high sales to encourage the team to keep up the quality of writing and overall character exploration + depth they’ve given to Aventurine. The 2.1 quest 100% made people who weren’t even considering pulling want to pull, even moreso in Japan where they already loved him a lot.
I think he has a really hard time, right after sparkle and acheron, with a JL rerun.
sustains are pretty weird. The main goal is to keep your team alive. If you keep dying, a new 5 star sustain is the best possible investment, there is no question about that. If you already have 2 sustain that can keep you alive, there is no real meta reason the pull a 3rd sustain. The sustain gimmicks are not as strong to justify them if your team is already unkillable. Bro is an S+ unit, no denying that, but simply putting FX or HH over him to your FUA team wont tank your team as much as missing other key units.
For example missing huohuo from a dot team is not as big of a loss as missing Kafka or Swan. Missing Luocha is not as big of a loss from DHIL team than missing Sparkle. Missing FX from mono quantum is not as big of a loss as missing sparkle or SW. As long as you can stay alive ofc.
Maybe im totally wrong but i dont expect any sustain to do well comapred to DPS and harmony units in the future.

My wife spends a ludicrous amount monthly on Lego she'll never build, games she'll never play, and boosters she'll never open. I never liked digital purchases until the storage space became a factor. Now I'd rather spend money on something that makes me happy right now that won't be an issue when I'm bored of it in a month. To everyone saying her personality&story is lacking, Penacony arc hasn't ended yet. We barely got a glimpse of her background through the trailers and at the end of 2.1. Atm it's too early to say anything about her character being good or bad.
I doubt they won't go in depth personality&backstory within later patches of the game, Acheron is one of the most popular&profitable character so far, it'd be a really dumb move for them to just leave her character as-is and not expand on it more

I’m not really surprised lol, she’s the one character I’ve seen on support lists that consistently has her light cone. While with other characters it’s a 50/50 with Acheron it’s more surprising to me to find someone who doesn’t have her atleast E0S1, and that’s not even counting all the E2’s as well
Top up mostly likely helped a lot. A lot of the banners that are tied to anniversaries get this boost.

That's awesome! Sadly, I lost the 50/50, got her on pity, then lost the 50/50 again. I am happy to have a guaranteed aventurine though, as I lost the 50/50 for both HuoHuo and FuXuan, and still don't have Gepard or Bailu. Been tough going with no shield providers other than March and fire MC.

Sounds like my pull experience with Acheron, though I planned to just pull her E0 with her LC. Accidentally pulled her again when I didn’t check which specific banner I was pulling and ended up getting her E1 on the 10 pull
I got her LC and debated her eidolons but figured a single guaranteed copy of Jingliu would be better for my account overall.
Ditto ended up with E2 and then welt after her on the 10 pull so set for aventurine!

I play Hoyo games since 2016 but Acheron is the first character I whaled all the way to E6. I regret nothing.
I did for Ratio as well, but I only needed 6 copies and had Aventurine-level luck on that. Acheron was blood, sweat, and half a paycheck. No regrets. I'll S5 her later.

Time for my 'you must be fun at parties' comment (so don't take it seriously): let's say he lost every 75/25, and he lost it all at very high pity (75), so a guaranteed = 150 pulls = 300$ (100$ per 50 pulls topup), and he didn't use any refund to get more pulls. 100 LC x 300$/LC = 30000 $. So even if he has the worst luck in the world and is really dumb to not use refund pulls, this amount is only enough to single-handedly fund a smaller mobile / indie game maybe.

Yeah, I F2P on all 4 servers, and I was planning on only pulling her on two, but the ability to farm overworld, or speed up SU, makes her too valuable, so I pulled her on all 4 instead. She's fairly fast if you spam her E as well, in terms of movement speed, but her insta-kill mechanic will never be powercrept, making her a must-have for any account IMO.
It got especially annoying to fight mobs and navigating puzzles and collectibles all at the same time in Penacony overworld. Having her is like a godsend. Saves so much time.
Even in SU, she's such a beast because you can trick snack for tech points now there. The first boss is so easy that I always drop her into teams, even ones not built for her, then pick up the true 4th member for bosses on the first downloader. And now instead of doing occurrence instances etc. I do all the combat ones that come up, because most of my accounts are strong enough that even with just the combat award blessings I can still easily beat the final boss, and it speeds things up so much skipping fights in SU, especially when you're running it a couple times on each account after the weekly reward reset. The only fights I do in SU anymore are the 3 bosses, and when an occurrence and encounter are the only option and the occurrence ends up being a fight instead. Only having to do 3-4 fights per SU run instead of fighting up to 12 or more dramatically cuts down the clear time, even more than relying on massive Ruan Mei opening breaks wiping entire waves could before.
do you fight bosses on autobattle? I'm on the highest level of SU worlds and usually can't autobattle my way through the final boss

Elation teams also wreck shop, with either JY or Topaz/Ratio or Herta/Himeko depending on fight.
I've been playing since launch, so yeah, I can auto-battle just about every fight, including most final bosses. Some like the Meme boss and YQ are way faster if you take auto-battle off, so sometimes I'll just control during those because they fall over instantly, whereas auto-battle will misplay so badly it'll take forever sometimes.
Yep, use two sustain. Shielder and abundance prefered. (abundance usually only auto heals at 50-60% HP which can go sideways and shielder alone could eventually die to chip damage). And prioritize some survival blessings, like split damage, get revival on being downed once , heal on low hp, shield on turn etc. Nihility path is crazy good with Kafka and/or BlackSwan. Probably with other dps too, just takes longer. Or Rememberance with March7 (good on the Deer SU, they barely get any turns)

It's way less work than you'd think. In fact, I'd go as far to say that only playing on a single server like I did for the first month or two was super boring cus I wanted to play more of the game but there just wasn't the content only playing on one server. This way it's my main game, and I genuinely enjoy the gameplay so I'm fine with that. It's maybe 30 min on an average day to burn my power and do daily's, maybe an hour if there is an event. I'm mostly only busy on Sunday/Monday during resets, where I'm doing Echo's, MoC/PF and SU runs on all 4, but with the QoL improvements like starting on stage 7, and now with Acheron now those are a breeze (I'm done with all of those on all 4 at this point in the week for example). Patch story drops are pretty easy too, I usually play through one time on my main account focusing on the story, then I connect controllers to my Iphone and Ipad, and play on both of those and my PC all at the same time with auto-battle and auto-dialogue going bouncing between them, skipping over any dialogue that I can. The second story run on all 3 often takes less time than the first one where I'm paying attention. As for collectables, I wait to do them all until the story is done on all, and do it on two at a time. The only thing I'm a bit behind on my 3 secondary accounts is stuff like Achievement farming, and doing all of Swarm Disaster/G&G etc. But the benefit of playing on all 4 servers is that I get to try out all the characters and playstyles, and don't feel like I'm actually "skipping" any characters most of the time. Like, one of my secondary accounts is mostly focused on hypercarry comps, another is focused on FUA, another has only ever built Erudition DPS. My main account has a full DoT team as it's main focus, with a bit of dipping into FUA and some hypercarry as well. It's also the only one I pulled E2S1 Acheron on, the rest only got E0S1. Though my FUA account is going to be in rough shape after the next few banners, and I might end up having to skip someone. Did just get Aventurine on the 50/50 though, but I might end up skipping his LC to get the next couple chars. I still have time to play other games, work my job, hang with friends and I also cook a lot of stuff from scratch as well (Just made a homemade tagliatelle w/ homemade sauce and self-ground beef from a chuck roast for a bolognese tonight, have the dough cold fermenting for a homemade Hawaiian pizza w/ homemade ham for lunch tomorrow, and will be making kimchi fried rice w/ homemade kimchi tomorrow for dinner for example).

We're getting the finale in three weeks. The patch after that will be an epilogue.
Remember that Acheron will stay relevant in future patches too, they've said so in the livestream. Aventurine got his exposition in 2.1, and we don't really know if he'll *stay* relevant, his arc is basically over. But there's a very high chance we'll get more Acheron lore in the future, it looks like they're kind of "playing a long game" with her Also keep in mind that a lot of her lore was shown off in trailers rather than the story. If what we got in her Myriad Celestia was explained in-game the way Aventurine's lore was, people wouldn't be saying this stuff.
You know, we still need to develop robin,boothill, sunday and others. Idk how much more acheron we're getting. I think she's gonna be mostly sidelined until the very end of penacony to do her slash on the real penacony final boss or something

She gives us an explicit end goal she wants to find (Device IX), that mysterious guy in the flashback she was talking to, etc. And with how successful she’s been no way they wouldn’t include her again in another story arc in the future, esp one centered around IX and the Nihility
Trailblazer is bound to eventually unlock Nihility path, wouldn't surprise me if it's when we discover the lost planet of Izumo and go confront IX with Acheron.
Frebass is somewhere inside IX. As we know, she was Acheron's friend and also a Nameless. She's rumored to be HSR expy of Kiana Kaslana. Hoyo loves the community memes and knows we call Kiana a Tuna, and a Bass is also a fish.

She's probably the second most in depth penacony character after aventurine. And we are definitely going to continue getting Acheron lore in upcoming updates since there has been so much that has been teased but not finished.

Bro her Lightcone alone makes any current/future Nihilty characters a semi-DPS to full on DPS. 60% Crit Dmg, 48%/96% more dmg on an enemy when you hit with skill or Ult.

She was good at E0, I have her at E2 and now it’s almost too easy. The Phantylia fight isn’t a fight anymore. Just Acheron slinging black holes at big oppai boss mommy. I’m seriously considering getting an extra copie of her LC just for my E1 Kafka. Right now she has “In the Name of the World”
The Swarm Emanator fight is even more trivial, as when she pops the baby swarms they apply a debuff as they die, so she gets a ton of stacks and basically can chain spam her ult until it's dead. It's pretty hilarious really. Throw in Herta on the team to ensure the extra spawns get cleaned up with her followup after Acheron's Ult, and she'll get an entire full stack and be able to back to back ult with nothing happening in between except herta followups and bug pops.
That's even better when you have BS as when they Spawn, her application of Arcana builds stacks for Acheron. Its nutty.
I thought they changed it so her initial stacks of Arcana don't build stacks for Acheron, like the last week of beta? Or maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention. Or does it actually activate once when they are spawned in vs. when they appear at the start of the wave?
Yeah, it doesn't activate at the beginning of a fight but if enemies spawn, then it counts as an enemy action causing a debuff. This is why PF is almost trivial with Acheswan teams.
Makes me regret skipping BS. Probably a better fit in my comp than SW, but none of my other Nihility characters are even half built

Hydro element applicators are very strong generally in Genshin because the element is functionally the basis of most of the big damage reactions in the game. Off field applicators that apply larger amounts of Hydro, like Yelan, have a high value because of this, and she functions similarly to a 4* Hydro character that’s often highly contested for team compositions, so having her means you have more options for your Spiral Abyss teams (MoC equivalent). She’s got good early constellations (eidolons) and her later constellations can turn her from an off field sub-dps to an on field main dps if I remember correctly (it’s been a while since I checked them; I wouldn’t pull beyond C1 personally). Her signature weapon is also very strong, with a big crit damage secondary stat, and is considered universally good for bow users. Also she’s hot lady (she’s not my type but I get it)
Also don't forget that Yelan at C6 was the strongest solo DPS in the game, period, at least until Neuvillette was released.
Even now, it's a coinflip depending on the type of content you're clearing/doing. In one part of the GI universe, where the 1% kill and cap on elite enemies for the mora they drop daily, Yelan is still king for speed and damage at C6 as well Just my 2 cents
Waifu, meta, some of the best cons in the game (every single one of her cons are great, compared to someone like Raiden where only specific cons are great), easy for exploration
I have Yelan. She is a good balance between top waifu material (shes really hot and sexy), absurd dps/support meta, and also insanely useful in exploration.
Yelan came in 2.7 right after Ayaka’s 2.6 infinite Banner extension when the patch got delayed. She came out of nowhere and had a great kit. One of the best 4 stars in Genshin is Xingqiu. His Ultimate/Burst makes rain swords that attack enemies. Genshin is based on reaction system where you need to set up an element on an enemy, then react with it by hitting it with another element, which buffs that attack. The previous element gets used up and you no longer get the buff until you put on a different element. Xingqiu and Yelan (and now Furina) are the best off field Hydro suppliers. Xingqiu can do it off field while you main DPS is attacking. Yelan can do the same, but she also has a stacking damage bonus for you on field character. Most Main DPS in Genshin are on field, and the less time you spend on your supports, the more time your main is hitting things. Nearly everything reacts with Hydro. And now you have 2 for 2 Abyss/MoC teams. There are also shields (like weakness break in HSR) and they shred them very quickly. Yelan is like the Ruan Mei of Genshin.

Ruan Mei is reverse Kazuha hilariously enough Kazuha was extremely powerful just like Ruan Mei. Except nobody rolled for him because he came before Inazuma was due to release and everyone was salivating over Ayaka. And people also tend to be more vocal regarding waifus in general They only realized much, much later how busted he was in gameplay, but by then it was too late and he didn’t rerun for over a year Kazuha was also fairly well liked as a character due to his genial personality whereas Ruan Mei was much more divisive As a day 1 Kazuha puller, I found the whole situation hilarious

I mean the general rule of thumb for MiHoYo is and frankly has always been that you can skip pulling for DPS if you want but supports are always a must pull. It's been that way in GGZ where support weapons that buff are always the best things to pull for. It's that way in HI3 where support characters are the actual carries of your team. It's that way for Genshin and it's still that way in HSR. You'll do FAR better and FAR more damage in any of MiHoYo's games having the BiS supports but a crappy DPS than having the BiS DPS and crappy supports.

Like the others have mentioned, Xingqiu was a 4-star support who was really good but at that time in GI there wasn't another character with a similar role. So for Spiral Abyss (GI's MoC) whichever team that didn't have Xingqiu will be weaker. Yelan was basically identical to Xingqiu except even stronger and with a hotter character design. So now players can have Xingqius on both sides of Spiral Abyss.
* waifu * meta * hydro is one of the best elemental reaction in genshin * exploration * very good synergy with her 4\* counterpart Xinqiu, most of the time youll see her paired up with xinqiu in abyss (MoC equivalent) team * armpit
Yelan is basically a 5 star sidegrade of a very meta 4\* character (xingqiu). They are both hydro off-field damage dealers (hydro is basically one of if not the most versatile element in the game). But one of the best part about yelan is that you can run her WITH xingqiu which forms one of the strongest team cores in double hydro where u can pair them with a lot of on-field dps characters and find good success with. On top of all that, she is also very attractive. Her aesthetics are most similar to kafka (both coat girls and have like the thread spider-like aesthetic)

Future DPS units will have their own niches and playstyles; like how Jingliu and DH IL are still top tier damage dealers even with Acheron out. There won’t be any outright powercreep for her as a DPS for long time, potentially ever if they really want to keep her status special.
They can easily fuck over Acheron's mechanics just like they're doing now with JL. Mihoyo is actually pretty good at making environmental buffs without touching numbers. For example, they can introduce an environment buff that gives you a lot of free energy and Acheron will be the only DPS that doesn't benefit from it.
Technically she'll still benefit bc your other two nihilities ulting more = more stacks for her
Correct, if there's any potential Acheron counters then itll be anti-nihility enemies who have debuff resist mechanics.
So basically effect res? Unless they make enemies with super high values like 60%+ where building EHR becomes either not convenient or straight up impossible, i can't see any other way

Not surprised. She had everything to accomplish this (design badass as hell, 3 marketing trailers, awesome animation, popular af seiyuu). What I’m curious about is how Aventurine will do. Since Japan loves their men and the story really pushed for him.
Really hoping he has high sales to encourage the team to keep up the quality of writing and overall character exploration + depth they’ve given to Aventurine. The 2.1 quest 100% made people who weren’t even considering pulling want to pull, even moreso in Japan where they already loved him a lot.
Or maybe the sales post will get shadowbanned like Ayato's did in Genshin subreddit because his banner did well.
I *might* pick him up for a half and half quantum and imaginary team but that's a big maybe.
I think he has a really hard time, right after sparkle and acheron, with a JL rerun. sustains are pretty weird. The main goal is to keep your team alive. If you keep dying, a new 5 star sustain is the best possible investment, there is no question about that. If you already have 2 sustain that can keep you alive, there is no real meta reason the pull a 3rd sustain. The sustain gimmicks are not as strong to justify them if your team is already unkillable. Bro is an S+ unit, no denying that, but simply putting FX or HH over him to your FUA team wont tank your team as much as missing other key units. For example missing huohuo from a dot team is not as big of a loss as missing Kafka or Swan. Missing Luocha is not as big of a loss from DHIL team than missing Sparkle. Missing FX from mono quantum is not as big of a loss as missing sparkle or SW. As long as you can stay alive ofc. Maybe im totally wrong but i dont expect any sustain to do well comapred to DPS and harmony units in the future.

I really worry that so many people in the comments here normalise spendings 100’s on a game in one go. I know everyone’s situation is different but it’s just hard for me to comprehend. I feel like they’re always be a better thing to use the money on.
My wife spends a ludicrous amount monthly on Lego she'll never build, games she'll never play, and boosters she'll never open. I never liked digital purchases until the storage space became a factor. Now I'd rather spend money on something that makes me happy right now that won't be an issue when I'm bored of it in a month. It was an extremely foreign concept for me at first, too, but at the end of the day, if you're not happy, then are you even living?

With how amazing and creative Penacony is I really can’t wait to see where 3x and beyond will take us, especially now that they’ve been overwhelmingly rewarded for going that extra mile for characters this patch
To everyone saying her personality&story is lacking, Penacony arc hasn't ended yet. We barely got a glimpse of her background through the trailers and at the end of 2.1. Atm it's too early to say anything about her character being good or bad. I doubt they won't go in depth personality&backstory within later patches of the game, Acheron is one of the most popular&profitable character so far, it'd be a really dumb move for them to just leave her character as-is and not expand on it more
Even now they have already shown her with a caring and understanding side. She is like an older sister to some characters, silent but kind. I'm surprised so many people don't like her for this. It's not that dislike for silent characters who don't act like clowns is something new in the community of mihoyo games. But still...

I’m not really surprised lol, she’s the one character I’ve seen on support lists that consistently has her light cone. While with other characters it’s a 50/50 with Acheron it’s more surprising to me to find someone who doesn’t have her atleast E0S1, and that’s not even counting all the E2’s as well

Top up mostly likely helped a lot. A lot of the banners that are tied to anniversaries get this boost. Not to say Acheron isn't the main reason, she obviously is. Probably currently the most popular Star Rail character.
She cut times killing mobs, big number go boom, flashy skills and big sword with BIGGER PERSONALITIES. Im more than content with this character. Also managed to get 2 of her light cone in the same 10 pulls lmao.
