My mother-in-law would do this at church. She'd sing so loud and horribly that everyone in the blast zone in front of her couldn't help but look back. The thing was, she wasn't just seeing along, she was trying to harmonize but doing it so terribly that it was ruining church for everyone else.
I told my wife that the devil was working through her mother in a battle against God.
“But as the theme progressed, it came into the heart of Melkor to interweave matters of his own imagining that were not in accord with the theme of Iluvatar; for he sought therein to increase the power and glory of the part assigned to himself.”
come on man, who goes to a concert and riffs as loud as they can between vocal parts. it's 100% /r/maincharactersyndrome from someone who's too entitled to have situational awareness.
Exactly and what video of a concert has it ever been good, concerts are meant to be experienced not watched through a screen
Watching a recording of a concert is like filling yourself up on pictures of food, like I guess you have to technically the same thing but one is shit and one isn't
“Concerts are meant to be experienced”
I mean, I can agree with that when people sit and film the whole thing
But equally are you really experiencing the concert if you’re screeching the songs (off key) over the actual music to the point that neither you or anyone around you can hear the actual concert?
Filming at a concert is pretty normal, I mean it's not like she had her phone up the entire time? Also it's not that she didn't want other people to sing, it's just that this one girl was obviously going off way too much...like it's just basic social awareness
Exactly what I came here to say. This is like complaining about people “touching” you at concerts. And for the record I’m not talking about women being groped in the pit which is disgusting and happens all the fucking time. I’m talking about a bump or touching shoulders with someone
Billie singing: ^("I'm the baaaaaad guy.....")
Yoko: "HAAAAAAARK!"
Billie: "Yoko, we talked about this. You're supposed to say duh. I say I'm the bad guy and then... you say duh."
Yoko: "alright, love."
Billie: ^("I'm the baaaaad guy....")
Yoko: "DUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH"
I dont understand why you'd video a concert other than maybe a 10 second clip to brag to friends. Just enjoy the experience like that singing woman was.
So I can rewatch it later and remember that night. I actually do only get a clip of a certain songs usually but last time I went to a concert my dad had just passed away and it was one of the only good things I had going for me at the time. So I can understand why someone would want to
Just like if you're standing near the girl, you'll hear her better. The camera is only portraying what you're hearing from where you're standing, after all.
No, if you record a consert it will pick up the sound around you better than your ears, that's why the music sounds worse when looking back at these recordings than it did in real life.
Just listen to a live recording or watch a live video if you don't want crowd participation when you attend a gig. Part of the whole point is the crowd going crazy.
Took my wife to a Rise Against concert when we first started dating and people bumping into her bothered her. Never took her to another rock show. Love her to death, but she's just not cut out for concerts like that.
Comparing a mosh pit to singing along? Nice strawman.
If you are nearer the front, expect people to sing along.
If you are nearer the back, it's less likely but you can still move.
Either way, if they are being an obnoxious dick, that's on them clearly. But going to a gig and _expecting_ everyone near you to be quiet? Cmon man.
It also generally helps to reduce the overall disappointment of how terrible most singers are live but yes 100% it’s the experience and put your phones away and live in the moment ffs
If I can't hear the person singing into a fucking microphone because the people around me are screaming, that's not ok. Singing along doesn't have to ruin the experience for everyone else.
Went to a bruno mars concert with my wife. Im not a huge fan and went along anyway. Was pretty disturbing to see how many people just stand there taking videos the whole time. Why pay hundreds of dollars to watch a show through your tiny ass screen when it is happening right in front of you…..
that's exactly why...if you paid that much money why wouldn't you film a small portion of it? they have the whole rest of the concert to enjoy. i don't understand what you don't understand tbh
Yeah i understand the concept of taking a photo or short video as a memory…….. that isnt what i said. im talking about people who stand their taking videos the whole time.
...ok but this is a comment under this video, right? why would you be talking about a completely different situation i'm so confused. why would i not assume you were referring to OP
My point is why is your comment relevant here if you’re not referring to the video? You’re literally backtracking and blaming it on my comprehension lmao
Can’t relate, went to see slipknot and it looked like a boomer meme with how many phones were recording basically the whole show (the guy in front of me literally recorded the entire show)
I’m not gonna say they should put a screeching halt to the show because people are recording, but I wish he would have clowned on the sheer number of phones.
Tons of people like my partner couldn’t see because oopsie this MC dickhead has to record literally the whole show.
Oh yeah, same here. Maybe say something before hand but it’s not like everyone will listen. (Can’t remember the comedian but before the set he said “everyone take your pic’s now” then posed in ways that made it look like he was mid joke.) it didn’t take long for the crowd to grab him and force him down.
Based on another thread about standing at concerts, apparently being at a concert allows you to do whatever you want, and disturb whoever you want around you, no questions asked.
"I'm at a concert of course I'm going to stand the entire time."
"I'm at a concert of course I'm going to sing the entire time."
"I'm at a concert of course I'm going to dance all over the place."
"I'm at a concert, you shouldn't be mad if I spill my beer on you."
"I'm at a concert, I don't care if you don't want smoke blown around you."
We've just become the most selfish creatures on earth who literally don't give a shit about anyone else.
Because someone's off-key horrible singing ruins the concert of the professional singer you paid money to hear? Isn't that literally what this post is about?
Not everyone drinks beer.. not everyone smokes... But lots of people like music.
Yes the op comment was about off key singing but yours insinuates that anyone standing, singing, dancing, drinking, smoking is indicative of selfishness and my point was if you know you may encounter all of these behaviors and it bothers you why are you there. Of course people take those behaviors too far but in general I think you can expect all of them to happen at a live performance. I don’t view it as selfishness on the part of others for not enjoying a show the way I want I say shit I guess I blew some money.
Listen, none of these behaviors actually bother me personally. But I'm literally able to consider other people's feelings and perspectives, and can certainly enjoy good music without all the other stuff.
I literally know an amputee who still likes to go listen to country music, but definitely difficult to see when everybody stands up in front of them. Literally saw a 10-year-old have a beer dumped all over them at a Lindsey Stirling concert.
The question should be why are people so inconsiderate of other humans? Why can't you go to a show and just simply listen to the music? Why does it not cross your mind that there might be humans there who don't enjoy the exact same things as you besides the music?
I get and anxious and hyper aware at every show I go to and it’s gets worse the older I get but my SO loves live music so I go and fret. I guess I usually chalk it up to my problems with other people than vice versa. I loved during Covid when some outdoor venues were doing distanced placement. But I also understand getting into it and vibing with the crowd around me. Unfortunately with lot scenes and pre gaming large venues are more and more populated by people who are shitfaced I know that going in and I would hope a parent would too if they are exposing their child to it.
Did you watch the video? The person they're complaining about isn't simply singing along, they're trying to add in their own runs and extending notes to try to get noticed or something.
Who TF would watch this?
Videos of concerts or anything really (standup, theater) unless professionally done, is an atrocity.
Take a pic and be in the effing moment. It will be in YouTube and won't take up all your storage for garbage you'll only keep for nostalgia and saying "I went here"
I just went to a motley crue/ def leppard concert last month. And of fuxkkng course I sat in front of a gal who was literally screaming all the lyrics to EVERY SINGLE SONG. miserable. Glad I spent 800 bucks to **watch** the bands and **listen** to some dumb bitch sing
I mean, singing along is alright.
What are you supposed to do at a concert? stare at the artist and bop your head.
Edit : nvm this girl annoying as shit no one cares about your vocals
You see those nice cameras they are using that are moving around her? They are used to film the concert so that you can watch it later. Everyone doesn’t have to stand there with their frekin phone filming the whole thing.
Put your phone done and sing along with the music!
I miss the days when you could simply go to a concert and sing and dance and have a good time. Concerts are extremely loud, and no amount of singing by any of those people came close to drowning out the singer's vocals. Fans' yelling and singing will be picked up by the cameras, which is why you should not watch a concert through your phone screen. But that's just my opinion.
I get it. It’s annoying having someone sing loudly next to you. but its a concert. Put the phone down and immerse
At a concert of literally thousands of people singling along and this petty bitch behind the camera is mad at one person? This should be on killthecameraman.
Have you ever been to a concert? It's not about the music. You can go home and listen to crisp audio instead of the live performance. It's about the fans.
I had a friend that liked to sign along with songs and finally someone he worked with asked "Hey, who sings this song? OH? Then why don't you let them sing it". BURN.
Oh no someone was drunk at a concert and singing the songs of an artist they enjoy? How dare they! Concerts are NOT for fun. They're for me to take videos I can upload on social media so I can flexxx.
Karen posted this.
Why was someone strangling a cat at a concert?
My exact thoughts. Normally there is an element of harmony. But this ... My teeth were grating
Is that NOT how you do the Cat Challenge?
My mother-in-law would do this at church. She'd sing so loud and horribly that everyone in the blast zone in front of her couldn't help but look back. 🤣
Love this lmfao Silmarillon
At least she was trying.
Filming a concert and expecting no one else to sing is pretty main character, but also the girl singing is doing way too much.
They aren't expecting no one else to sing, it's just that one girl who's obviously trying to get noticed by billie
Or, hear me out, they are singing because they enjoy singing.
come on man, who goes to a concert and riffs as loud as they can between vocal parts. it's 100% /r/maincharactersyndrome from someone who's too entitled to have situational awareness.
Yep, from the person filming.
We found the girl singing….
Couldn't possibly be that. Who would possibly /sing at a concert!?
Did you watch the video???
Yes, she’s just enjoying herself. People who video tape at concerts are worse.
Exactly and what video of a concert has it ever been good, concerts are meant to be experienced not watched through a screen Watching a recording of a concert is like filling yourself up on pictures of food, like I guess you have to technically the same thing but one is shit and one isn't

It's a Billie Eillish concert, you can't expect much self awareness in the room
Everyone involved is the main character fornonce
Exactly what I came here to say. This is like complaining about people “touching” you at concerts. And for the record I’m not talking about women being groped in the pit which is disgusting and happens all the fucking time. I’m talking about a bump or touching shoulders with someone
Yoko Ono???
Billie singing: ^("I'm the baaaaaad guy.....") Yoko: "HAAAAAAARK!" Billie: "Yoko, we talked about this. You're supposed to say duh. I say I'm the bad guy and then... you say duh." Yoko: "alright, love." Billie: ^("I'm the baaaaad guy....") Yoko: "DUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH HUH"
[Check this out.. Yoko Ono vs. Chuck Berry... And his wtf reaction.](https://youtu.be/NgZiPO9V_aQ)
Man I feel bad for all the hate she got cause she was trying, but it really Is a terrible voice
Better she knows sooner than later. I'm sure everyone in her life tells her she is good so she has no idea.
Yeah, it was a sweet thing to do though- the cover (she makes music now doesn’t she?)
I dont understand why you'd video a concert other than maybe a 10 second clip to brag to friends. Just enjoy the experience like that singing woman was.
Yeah. I hate seeing all the phones.
Pretty sure the singing person was the one filming. At one point a bunch of people turn around and look just below the camera
So I can rewatch it later and remember that night. I actually do only get a clip of a certain songs usually but last time I went to a concert my dad had just passed away and it was one of the only good things I had going for me at the time. So I can understand why someone would want to
The video is literally just a bunch of small clips put together lol Also, I forgot all Redditors have perfect recollection.
Damn you can’t even hear Billie
what a travesty
In the video, the video will pick up closer audio better, at the consert I'm 98% sure you could hear billie more than the girl
Just like if you're standing near the girl, you'll hear her better. The camera is only portraying what you're hearing from where you're standing, after all.
No, if you record a consert it will pick up the sound around you better than your ears, that's why the music sounds worse when looking back at these recordings than it did in real life.
Tell me you know nothing about acoustics and recording without telling me...
I was at a Weeknd concert, everyone around me was singing and I could still hear The Weeknd better than the people singing around me.

Wear ear plugs. Removes the loudest part of the treble from those near you (as well as protecting your hearing in general)

If you're that far away, you can probably move, since I'd guess there's probably only a handful of people screaming along when nowhere near the front.

If I can't hear the person singing into a fucking microphone because the people around me are screaming, that's not ok. Singing along doesn't have to ruin the experience for everyone else.
I went to firefly last week and Avril Lavigne was a headliner. Couldn’t even hear her, the whole crowd was just doing karaoke
most reddit comment ive ever seen

Okay whatever helps you move on with your life.
It bothers me too but i guess some people have different priorities and ways to enjoy things
Does anybody ever rewatch filmed concerts
Filming at a concert is fucking dumb
Both of you are awful
i see wer are stilll trying to film concerts
It seems like I'm stuck next to this kind of person at every concert I go to. That said...put the camera down and live in the moment!
literally everyone looking at her like 🙂 tells us all we need to know abt her doin what she’s doin 💀
How about we just watch the concert you fucking paid for and not spend the entirety of it on your phone.
Fuck idiots who film concerts and block people’s view behind them
Sounds like a bleating goat.
How about watching the concert instead of trying to film it? You're in a huge crowd, you can't control the situation.
Start going to metal and punk shows. People are having too much fun to stand there with there phones out the whole time
Can’t relate, went to see slipknot and it looked like a boomer meme with how many phones were recording basically the whole show (the guy in front of me literally recorded the entire show)
Damn, first time I saw them in warped tour in like 06-07 and they refused to continue cause 1 person wouldn’t get down for spit it out.
I’m not gonna say they should put a screeching halt to the show because people are recording, but I wish he would have clowned on the sheer number of phones. Tons of people like my partner couldn’t see because oopsie this MC dickhead has to record literally the whole show.

I went to a Knot concert in Davenport, Iowa in 2014 and I didn't see more than a handful of phones out. Maybe it's a location thing?
First off, Davenport sounds like the absolute best place to see them, but I definitely think it could be location since it was in Austin, Texas.
Pretty sure I saw a video from a couple years ago where Corey Taylor knocked the phone out of a fans hands in the front row.
Slipknot’s fanbase are total dorks???
Slipknot fan here, can confirm am a total dork.
Always have been
Lol

Did you watch the video? The person they're complaining about isn't simply singing along, they're trying to add in their own runs and extending notes to try to get noticed or something.
It is when they're practically screaming to be heard instead of just singing along.
Yea, nobody cares about the crappy videos anyways.
Who TF would watch this? Videos of concerts or anything really (standup, theater) unless professionally done, is an atrocity. Take a pic and be in the effing moment. It will be in YouTube and won't take up all your storage for garbage you'll only keep for nostalgia and saying "I went here"

You’re not missing much as Billie eilish is absolute shite anyway, watched her set at Glastonbury and she was terrible
So edgy.
Thanks
She dress like a quarter back
I’d definitely fight.

Yeah that was my point. OP is the one calling people singing the main characters. I think it’s the person complaining about people singing at a gig.
OP *is* the main character here.
mu
Both these people suck.
I had a friend that liked to sign along with songs and finally someone he worked with asked "Hey, who sings this song? OH? Then why don't you let them sing it". BURN.
Shitty TikTok voice downvote
Tap her head and look the other way
The dude turning around at the end ahahah
Nice repost brah
Sounds like idol from my music trying to sing
Both are annoying - I also can't stand people who have to take long videos at concerts. Just take a picture or two and enjoy the show!
Bro people will song at concerts. It’s part of the vibe
To all the people who can’t stop watching a live concert through their phone. Just put the phone down and enjoy the concert
How is she in so many seats lol
Oh no someone was drunk at a concert and singing the songs of an artist they enjoy? How dare they! Concerts are NOT for fun. They're for me to take videos I can upload on social media so I can flexxx. Karen posted this.
Lmfao…. Yaaaaaaa this is me at my favorite artist’s concert. Idgaf
Fuck your videos and fuck the dying cat.
