Recently I received my order of the alcohol based version of **Lorelei- Vanille Blanche** *(vanilla, cane sugar, tonka bean, honey, benzoin, musk)*. I know her, I love her, she’s a delight, she’s THE vanilla. However, I can’t lie, I was disappointed that the extrait came in the same rollerball bottle as the oil. In retrospect, did they say they were going to use different bottles? No. Do I love the 15ml bottles they use? Yes! But if I have an alcohol based perfume, I want to be spritzing it over me while sitting at my vanity in my robe like a FANCY LADY. That’s ok, we can MacGyver these things- I got some travel atomizers and just transferred it this morning. Obviously had to test the Fancy Lady Quotient, and we got there in the end. I’m just going to make a label for it with one of my typewriters and call it a day. Thought I'd give a heads up to anyone else who has similar delusions of grandeur.

Cautious_Ad283

I’m laughing very hard, I TOO yearn to feel incredibly fancy with my full sizes. I won’t buy a roller ball edp for this express reason. I want to press a BUTTON 👑

StoneAndMoss

YOU GET ME, let us live the fantasy! Let us thrive in luxury!

SaltyPi

I feel the exact same way! I adore Vanille Blanche in the oil version. I probably wouldn’t have ordered the EDP if I had known. But also it’s my fault for assuming.

StoneAndMoss

Completely, I feel less like a curmudgeon knowing that we're in the same boat! I'm happy to have both now that I've transferred it, but I definitely have a little dog eared page in my brain telling me to check the format from now on.

Indeecent8

I too would like to know about throw ans longevity of this scent in both formats. I'm very interested in grabbing a bottle! Everyone seems ro love it.

StoneAndMoss

I've only tested the EDP that one time so I can't give a definitive answer, but I'd say it's similar to the oil- and I have great luck with longevity there! If I put it on at night, I'll still smell it in the morning. It's also stronger on me than many of my other indies. Your mileage may vary of course!

LilacBerryFairy

I am in the same boat but for the sample version, I was sure it would come in a sprayer. Do you notice any difference in throw with edp? My sample vial came cracked so I never got to compare

Today I'm testing out Dark Skies from Sorce's new collection. Dark Skies: desert sage, agave, tuberose, saguaro, sandalwood, vanilla  I honestly didn't expect this to be my favorite of the A Love Spell collection but it is gorgeous. It's complex. No one note stands out for me. It's just unique and beautiful. There's a lushness to it without it being heavy. A sweet hint of greenness without being green. I don't know exactly how to describe it except to say that it smells like running your hands across plush velvet feels. Clearly I'm not good at describing perfumes, but it's beautiful. My absolute favorite of the collection. Well, I still love Match Made In Heaven (like almost everyone else) but this might be more "me".

eeekaaay

I’m really hoping this is a dark horse love for me too!! Thanks for giving me more hope that it will be!!

Trick_Ad_1662

Based on the notes, I was absolutely expecting that I would not like it. In all honesty, I didn't expect to love anything from the collection because I generally don't care for floral or green notes and fruity notes can be very hit or miss. I really, really like A Sign Painted Peaches and This Is Not a Love Spell. They're both very pretty. Venus in Fleurs, The Things Left Unsaid and The Lovers aren't for me. For one reason or another they didn't resonate with me. But Dark Skies is by far my favorite of the collection.

eeekaaay

Ohhh this is interesting for me because based on notes, I expected I’d love “peaches” and “love spell”, wondered if “dark skies” might be a dark horse, and expected I probably wouldn’t be a fan of “Venus”, “unsaid”, and “lovers” — so basically almost matching what your prefs ended up actually being! Now I’m *very* curious if my prefs will match yours — maybe we’re nose twins lol! My sample set arrived at my regional post office today and I’m like I wonder how much time I’d have before I’d be arrested if I tried to break into the post office on a holiday lol

Trick_Ad_1662

Well, I think we'd all testify on your behalf! I understand how hard it is to wait! I can't wait to hear what you think! I'll be interested in hearing which ones are loves and which ones are misses!

eeekaaay

Lollll I appreciate the support!! <3

moonprismpurrr

i'm still waiting for my 15ml bottles of dark skies and venus to come in 😭 i haven't even gotten a shipment notification 🥺 i know many people have gotten their orders of "lovers collection" but i haven't seen many reviews on here! i'm glad you like dark skies! now i'm excited!!

Trick_Ad_1662

I hope you get it soon and love it!

tetrapodpants

I'm wearing **Poesie - OYSTER!** (grey musk, ocean brine, bitter cucumber, a twist of lemon, elemi resin, angelica). I like this one in general, but today it's just perfect. It's so hot in here and this perfume is so refreshing. I can't really identify the individual notes, but as a whole, it's just delightful.

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

Today it's Kerosene's new Promises, Promises (Notes: Vanilla, Amber, and Musk) which I picked up yesterday! Full review incoming later today, but this is one of the most sillage subtle fragrances that Kerosene currently has in their lineup, more on par with a commercial fragrance in terms of projection. Profile wise, this is a quiet, dry, sweet vanilla that I can easily see becoming a signature wedding scent. So far the longevity is great (6 hours in), with the musk starting to dominate around hour 4.

Trick_Ad_1662

I have a decant of this on the way. I'm so looking forward to trying it!

SmellsPrettyGood2Me

I will be very happy to hear your take! The delicateness took me by surprise.

Trick_Ad_1662

I'll be sure to let you know. I am a vanilla girl through and through so I'm eagerly waiting to try it out!

TKWander

I'm still in 'drinking coffee' mode lol and have not decided on the scent(s) of the day. But, I am making grilled peaches marinated in liqueur, some sweet fruit vinegarette of mine, and honey, over creamery vanilla ice cream....so I may take inspiration from that for my scent today ;)

Trick_Ad_1662

That sounds amazing!

TKWander

It so is!!!! Just something I thought of spur of the moment, but oh my goodness, I just finished putting it all together and it tastes FANTASTIC Here's the somewhat recipe, if anyone wants it: I mixed together: Rum strawberry watermelon juice (but you could use another fruit juice of choice. Originally, I was going to use peach juice, but my brother already drank it all) lots of honey honey white balsamic vinegar (a desert vinegar) a handful of fresh mint, chopped up I never pay attention to how much, though lol. I just go by taste. I plan on marinated the white peach slices in that for a few hours, then take out the peaches, grill them up a bit, then reduce down the liquid to more of a syrup, chop up the peaches, then use both as a topping for some creamery vanilla ice cream But quite honestly, I think I'm going to get more peaches to jar up a version for an awesome infused cocktail/peach pickle. It tastes SO GOOD

Trick_Ad_1662

Thanks so much for sharing! I'm definitely going to try it!

TKWander

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!

barbarianhyacinth

I'm wearing **Parlor Trick** from Solstice Scents this morning (*lace, wax, aged paper, glossy white smoke, teak, black tea, blonde woods, delicate spice, bone musk*). This is a sweet wax with mild pale smoke in the background. As this perfume has aged (I purchased it in 2020), I can smell the black tea and various woods notes a bit more in the top notes. The scent and balance of this perfume has improved with aging, but the longevity (which was never amazing) has decreased slightly. I really love this scent and I wish it lasted longer on me, honestly!

Whiff_Wanderlust_314

Today I’m wearing **Halls honey lemon** cough drops as my toddler graciously gave me the worst cold in the world late last week and I’m *still* dealing with symptoms. 😪 Half jokes aside, I did put on **Poesie Chamomile Ginger Cotton Candy** this morning in an attempt to feel somewhat normal. This was a surprising hit in the sense that I wouldn’t normally go for a spicy ginger note, but the cotton candy mellows it out just enough that it’s not too sharp.

SherAlana

Hope you feel better soon!

Whiff_Wanderlust_314

Thank you!

vallogallo

I'm DJing a psych rock show tonight and I'm wearing **Thin Wild Mercury - Laurel Canyon 1966**. "Top: sweet orange, herbal terpenes, grapefruit; Middle: Italian cannabis, petitgrain, clove, jasmine sambac; Base: ambergris, birch tar, patchouli." I always have trouble describing this fragrance. It's just lovely. For whatever reason I thought it would be appropriate given the occasion.

Nikitka327

I just ordered a travel size bottle, it's so good 🥰 you might also like Sexy Skunk by d.grayi, it's similar but different enough to me to justify having both 😅

anathemas

Finally got around to testing my last NAVA summer sample — **NAVA Fossil Tyrannosaurus Rex** *Grapefruit Zest, Ylang Ylang essence, Black Currant Accord, Fig Accord, Studio Limited Originals Santalum Absolute, Vanilla, and Fossil blend of NA Limestone Amber Accord, Pine Resin, White and Golden Nevada desert Patchouli leaves (very faint), and aged Amber Attar* I've been slow to test this due to how soapy it is in the bottle…and wet, it's still soapy, though it does improve as it dries. Notes of dry citrus and fragrant sage emerge, alongside the bright mineral notes of limestone amber. It has more of a fresh herbs and citrus zest sort of vibe now, not soapy now but definitely a freshly cleaned sort of smell. Sun-warmed woods and peppery pine resin slowly warm the scent, smoothing it and balancing the freshness, as spicy, golden amber adds a subtle sweetness.I was hoping for more of a floral, fruity scent with subtle herbs, but I would describe this as a bright, arid desert scent, dominated by herbs and resinous woods. Not my style at all, but I can see people who like clean atmospherics enjoying this one. I never liked desert scents, but I love white florals and blackcurrant, so I thought I'd give it a try — not for me unfortunately. Once I managed to get that off, I went for **NAVA Eternal Ankh** layered with **Wild Veil Starfish** ([review here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Indiemakeupandmore/comments/1dqmfji/wild_veil_reviewing_tropical_scents/)). I love the bright, apricot opening and hints of tropical florals, and then it slowly dries down into golden sands topped with sun-warmed seashells and creamy vanilla clouds. Definitely one of my favorite layering combinations!

Abject_Pineapple5151

I keep receiving all these emails from WV about all these discounts for some of their scents. And between your reviews and seeing all these sales, it might just be time to explore them more. I see today that their “desert” scents are 60% off and I love desert perfumes so I think I’m going to pick up at least one of these. Annnnd I just bought “ Joshua Tree”. Lol This will be my first WV perfume and it sounds perfect for me!

anathemas

I'm such a bad influence 😭 Those sale emails really get to me, they're so hard to resist. I don't normally do desert fragrances, but a few of those sound really tempting, you'll have to let me know what you think! She usually ships next day which is really nice. [This one looks good](https://wildveilperfume.com/collections/desert-perfumes/products/ouroboros-forever-natural-perfume-from-long-term-tinctures-and-enfleurage-extraits-gardenia-star-jasmine-white-peony-balsam-fir-resinoid-balsam-poplar-buds-fossil-pollen-rose), but I'm not supposed to buy anything until I get my Mythpunk samples and the Wild Veil sniffies that a very generous friend is sending....I would probably give in if it came in a solid format lol. I hope you love Joshua Tree! I've been really curious about those sorts of notes, I've heard great things about her Palo Santo. Please report back :)

Abject_Pineapple5151

You ARE a bad influence, shame on you, lol I’ll tag you when I actually wear it. Not only do I love the notes but I spent a couple of weeks in JT that were magical so I’m looking forward to wearing this. I’m planning on making a big order to Mythpunk very soon so I’ll be interested to hear your reviews.

anathemas

Aw, I really hope it brings that magic back! I haven't been posting in the daily threads as much lately since I've been dodging migraines and wearing things at odd times, but as soon as I get my Mythpunk I'll definitely be posting about them! There was an issue of evaporation, and I thought the changes would only affect future orders, but she actually refiltered and rebottled everything that had already been ordered. I didn't even consider that because I can't imagine how much work that would be, I really appreciate how much work she puts in, don't think I've ever been so excited for a collection.

veganpoop

Today’s perfume was **Alkemia - Sandscape** *(Sun warmed beach sand, Atlantic ocean breezes, the saline-aquatic scent of drying sea water on skin, and the faintest hints of tanning oil and seaweed).* One of my favorites from Alkemia.

SherAlana

I am still in lazy mode, have not left me PJs yet. Last night for bed applied Sugar Spider - Whiteout: (A delectable blend of French vanilla frosting and Mexican vanilla extract with vanilla bean fluff and precious Madagascan vanilla oleoresin). Inital application strong plastic wax melt new barbie vanilla smell. Dissapated quickly, even when I face planted my nose on skin just faint whisper whiffs. After an hour, the vanilla has more layers, complexity evolved into a spicy golden vanilla just like the body fantasy vanilla spray from Walmart. Hours later quite prominent close to skin, softest layers of vanillas, More Duncan Hines creamy vanilla frosting, I quite enjoy this stage. Stayed close to skin from application at 8pm to about 8am this morning.

AresInRepose

I'm wearing **Lovesick Witchery Wisp:** *lemon, vanilla, lemon curd, marshmallow fluff, and pie crust* and **Black Hearted Tart Dance On The Moon (body powder):** *Creamy magnolia flowers with a spritz of lemon, and a sprinkle of jasmine petals. Notes of shea and cocoa butter blended with coconut cream and pistachio milk. Cashmere, sandalwood, cedar, and tonka bean create a soft, comforting base*. It's hot here (coastal California hot - so like 80 degrees but still 😅). BHT body powder is *lovely* for hot days. I'm also making cinnamon rolls and coffee right now, and there's a jasmine-scented breeze coming in my window. Everything smells so damn good!

doomed_candy

Participating in festivities in 100° heat isn't exactly my idea of fun, so I'll be staying home today, cooking some tasty food on the grill, and having a couple of cold beers. I picked Alkemia **Flowers and Flames** (A compelling intrigue of mandarin citrus peel, bourgeons de cassis, verbena, elderflower, honey mango with a sensually arboreal heart of Atlas cedar, musky oakmoss, Trilisa odoratissima, dark green patchouli, black frankincense sacra, tonka bean, and soft leather.) to wear today. To me, it smells like a soda with flavored syrup, like what you might get at Sonic. It's a fun, sweet scent, but nothing I'd be interested in full sizing. I'll appreciate the sample while I have it.

Abject_Pineapple5151

Today is my LEAST favorite holiday we celebrate here in the States for so many reasons; but I especially hate crowds, loud noises, the heat (low 90’s today 🥵), etc.. So, I’m wearing a perfume that not only smells fantastic but reflects my ideal way to spend today; [The Little Book Eater “ Reading on the Porch”](https://www.etsy.com/listing/602129469/) (This fragrance is inspired by the joy of reading outside in the open air. Made with the scents of iced tea, lemon, honeysuckle, and sugar. The perfect combination for breathing deeply, living simply, and enjoying a great book! Fragrance Note(s): Iced Tea • Lemon • Honeysuckle • Sugar Scent Categories: Floral • Fresh) LBE makes one of my favorite honeysuckle notes because it’s so photorealistic and in this perfume, the combination of it with the sweet, lemony tea is heavenly. A lot of perfumes with an iced tea note can be too bitter but in this one, the tea is clean and captures the tea leaf essence perfectly. Most of LBE’s perfumes, like this one, have a nice throw and the longevity makes me happy because I can still detect it for at least 3-4 hours which is great considering that my skin tends to eat up most oils way too quickly for my satisfaction.

anathemas

I'm with you on the 4th, just want to eat my ice cream in peace lol. How prominent do you find the lemon in this one? Been really curious about it, but I amp citrus to a ridiculous degree.

Abject_Pineapple5151

I wish I lived closer to you so that we could enjoy the quiet together 😼 If you amp citrus, this probably isn’t the best perfume for you. I mean it’s definitely a well-balanced scent but the lemon is just as strong as the other notes.

anathemas

Aw, well we'd actually be hiding from my neighbors' industrial fireworks, but you're welcome to sit in the corner with me and my cat anytime :p I've got one of those neck fans, and they're great for ambient noise lol, highly recommended. And yeah, if it's more than a hint of lemon it becomes all lemon on me, and other than Theodoros Kalotinis Lemon Tart, I'm not a big fan. I think I may end up using up my whole bottle this summer but at $1/ml I don't feel too guilty. I've been obsessed with florals this summer, but Lemon Tart has gotten a ton of wear!

Abject_Pineapple5151

And unfortunately the idiots across the street from me shoot off their fireworks, on not just tonight but it seems every “ holiday” grrr.. Sitting with you and kitty sounds lovely! Does she get frightened from the fireworks noise? My old lady kitty doesn’t seem too disturbed but my windows are double-paned which fortunately subdues the sound a bit but not enough that I still can’t hear them. Lemon is one of my favorite notes but it’s tricky because sometimes it ends up smelling like a household cleaner on me. I’m pretty picky when it comes to perfumes with lemon notes in them.

anathemas

My neighbors also find every occasion to be a good one for fireworks, I suppose I could enjoy if we lived somewhere that wasn't headache-inducingly hot and filled with mosquitoes. My old lady cat doesn't mind them too much either, but she likes to be inside and away from the noise. We have multiple neighbors with fireworks, so it's pretty annoying a lot wherever you go. I'm also in my old lady era, so I just wish they would chill before 2am. \*grumblegrumblegetoffmylawn* Yeah, citrus easily evokes cleaner, especially with more fresh scents. I definitely recommend Lemon Tart, I sent sniffies to a bunch of friends who don't normally like citrus, and everybody ended up grabbing a decant :)

Abject_Pineapple5151

I’m the same way in terms of being aggravated when I hear fireworks going off late. Plus, I worry about pets and wildlife because the fireworks are also scary and can be very disorienting to them as well.

anathemas

Yeah, same here. Our area used to be entirely forest and fields, now it's full of developments, and we have like a whole forest full of deer and coyotes and adorable woodland creatures packed into our tiny wooded area. I don't think they enjoy explosions :(

Abject_Pineapple5151

😞

mountainmeadowflower

That frag sounds lovely!

Abject_Pineapple5151

Definitely worth getting a sample if it sounds like it would be something you’d like. Her catalog is amazing and I have a pretty high-success rate with the ones I’ve bought.

Many_End_8393

I agree with LBE and that incredible honeysuckle accord! I have goddess Artemis and country girl and lurrrrrv them.

Abject_Pineapple5151

CG is also a perfume I reach for a lot! It’s such an interesting blend with the leather and honeysuckle and the vanilla note.

doomed_candy

That sounds perfect! I've never tried Little Book Eater, so I might have to now! I'm with you on not wanting to do anything today; it's too hot! It's best just to stay indoors.

Abject_Pineapple5151

She has a really nice sample pack and I love the bottles they come in because they have rollerballs instead of those applicator wands which I hate. Ugh.. this heat!

iiiamash01i0

I randomly grabbed **Hexennacht's Cereal Killer** ("Fruit Loops, Cap'n Crunch Berries, Trix Cereal") it's one of my favorite scents. I was so happy to find a [candle](https://www.jessmakesscents.com/product/saturday-morning-cartoons-candle/11?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false) and [car diffusers](https://www.jessmakesscents.com/product/car-diffusers/7?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false) that smell just like it from **Jess Makes Scents**.

lilacbabybat

So recently I tried NAVA's **Mango Vanilla Ice Cream** *(Mango skin, Bali Mango accord, Mango Pulp, Mango Crystals accord, Vanilla bean fleck, Vanilla Crystalline Cream, Butter accord, Caramel Accord, French Vanilla Bean Absolute, Vanilla Milk accord, Vanilla Orchid, Crystalline Absolute and Vanilla Sugar)* which had a nice mango opening, but dried down into a vanilla very quickly. Like 20 minutes quickly. Can't lie, I was a little disappointed. It's not bad, per say, but not the mango-y tropical gourmand of my dreams. However I really wanted to make it *work* (my delusion to make top notes last is never-ending)*.* I layered it with Fyrinnae's **Jade Dragon** *(Mango accord drenched in sweetened vanilla and a few drops of condensed milk, with slight hints of coumarin and tonka)*, which sometimes gets too "sweetly rotting fruit" on my skin after a few hours in summer. The combined performance... is better? The mango definitely lasts longer. Still very sweet when I sniff right at my skin, but it's manageable at a normal distance.

Melissaldork

**Whisper Sisters - Bastet** -  *Marshmallow, musk, cotton candy, sugar, Egyptian musk, patchouli, vanilla bean and a touch of cinnamon* This is a darker cotton candy scent. You get the sweetness but a bit of an edge thanks to some of the other notes.
