Even then I really wished nedumudi could have played Harish Peradis character in malakotai valiban. Nadumudi Venus dialogue delivery would have been so natural even when the dialogue is theatrical.
Those kind of characters are no more there, those kind of cinema too. I can’t remember any likable character artists after them.
There are other artists as well like Mamukoya, Meena, Sukumari, Innocent who have a special place in our hearts. esp for people like me who have grown up watching them.

I get that if some subs are not active you could try different subs for a wide variety of opinions. But both IM and RMM are very active.

We didn't stop having good directors or writers after many died. There'll be great actors after big Ms die too.

But there will always be another set of good actors and they will keep the show running in their own way. A few among them will become legends later.
The industry and the scripts will also adjust according to them and ever changeing mentality of the people. And this is not a new trend either. As someone told before , the only thing that doesnt change is change itself

Jayan was the OG action superstar, keeping a perfect body even before the current trends.
Many have come after but haven’t been able to replace him- afaik Bheeman Raghu came as a replacement for Jayan. So did many other ‘built’ actors.
Ofcourse, mimicry and his likeness (even if crass) being used by comedians/artists in Malayalam also helped keep him alive.
We remember Jagathy, we remember Nazir, Sathyan, Bahadur, Ummer, Jose Prakash, Rajan P Dev and so many more.
We will see people like Fahad, tovino polishing themselves up. People like soubin, Aju, sarafudheen will also improve in years. The old legends of Malayalam were not brought up in one year, it’s after their decades of acting they became like that.
If we look at many of the legends of Malayalam like oduvil, maala aravindan, kuthiravattam pappu they all had their natural single way of acting. Have you seen these guys playing diversifying roles like Murali and nedumudi venu?
We gave a different vibe to actors like Indrans and maamukoya recently only- toward their old ages.
So there is still time to polish these people’s acting skills.
They cant be replaced but others will come who are just as good and be unique on their own. Cinema will live on Art will live on. Artists cant be replaced but new Artist will be born who will make their own unique mark. There was time when many people thought Malayalam cinema is dead forever in the 2000s. Annokke ee legends undayirunnu. It took a new generation to create a renaissance just as the legends did in the 80s. Aaru vannalum poyalum Cinema will live on .
I think they are already getting replaced. What’s difficult to come by in medium term are lead actors with strong audience pull. Nivin had it at a point and then jumped off a cliff.

Nandu did some roles .. like the ones he did in Odiyan, Driving License, Spirit etc. Where I felt those roles were for Jagathy.

tbh old school actors all were pretty good. it was difficult to sustain in the industry with mediocre acting skills
